Astra Lost in Space

Astra Lost in Space

Introduction

In the year 2063, space travel is feasible and commercially available. As the cheerful Aries Spring arrives at the spaceport to attend a camp on the distant planet McPa, her purse is suddenly snatched by a reckless thief. Luckily, the athletic Kanata Hoshijima is able to retrieve it for her, and Aries soon discovers that he is among the group of teenagers who will be traveling with her on the excursion as team B-5. Upon arriving at their campsite, the group's trip takes a turn for the worse when a strange sphere of black light sucks them into the vast reaches of outer space. Stranded with seemingly no hope, they find an abandoned ship nearby that provides them with the means to return home. However, they soon discover that they are not as close to their campsite as they initially thought, but are in fact thousands of light-years away from home. With this realization, the nine members must cautiously manage their resources, maintain their strength, and unite as one to conquer the darkness of space together. While the reason behind their trip's sudden obstruction remains unknown, they nevertheless embark on the treacherous voyage back home aboard their new ship, the Astra. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

story:10 world building:8 characters:3 overall:7 lets start this review by saying that the only thing that drove the plot foward was the character completely getting rid of their survival instincts, the incident that started all of this was a dumbass touching something unknown to them that shouldnt be there in the first place, but it did in fact pay off, the story is great the twist and turns fits nicely with eachother but its hard to appreciate the story when the characters you follow for every second of the story has no self preservation skills, when they were sent on another planet to improve their survival skills in the first place this is all to say that the understanding of human emotions are all over the place their actions are acceptable in a gag anime but not in a very dramatic s…

I can say without a doubt this anime was a waste of time. Ignoring how in the very first episode, they treat the viewer like a toddler with how even the most mundane things are pointed out, I'll admit the hook was at the very least interesting. However, I can't say the same about the plot & characters. This anime, much like others, is a victim of "tell not show." They practically tell you everything. There are countless scenes which exist solely to be exposition, in return, this made the "twists" heavily predictable. It got to a point where the antagonists quite literally sat around a roundtable, and directly told the audience their plan. It felt like a ""We are the evil antagonists and here's our evil scheme"" moment. Literally zero room for exploration nor interpretation. As for the c…

This shit... was so ass. Every single character sucks, they're all beyond stupid, and that makes all the twists and reveals that happen fall flat completely. Don't watch this if you value your time. I watched years ago and I am STILL pissed off about it. It's a testament to how bad this show is. The show has so many characters that it can't really flesh them out very well, and when it tries, it fails to make them interesting. They all have their own individual traumas, and it even has an intersex character, which is some cool representaion. Too bad that cahracter is as boring as all the others. They have nothing going on in terms of chemistry between the characters, either. The production and voice work is good, but that's just standard. There were no standout scenes for the animation.…

The plot moves slowly in the first half of the show, but after Episode 6, the plot picks up. The plot twists in the show are amazing and tie into the characters' backstories in a way I would never have predicted. The soundtrack is good. Most of the openings and endings were cut from the show, but the ending song was good. The cast of characters in the show are likable, and the characters have good character development. The mystery was good, but sometimes the suspense is ruined by unnecessary comedy scenes that kill the tension. Also, sometimes the story just forgets about one of the mysteries. The ending was a great conclusion to all the characters' stories and was perfect. So overall, Astra Lost in Space is an 8/10 anime. I would definitely recommend this to someone who wants to watch a…

Kanata no Astra is honestly one of those sci-fi anime that’s executed incredibly cleanly. It starts off looking like a simple planet-to-planet survival story, but the scale keeps expanding, the twists keep coming, and the best part is—none of it creates plot holes. Everything is revealed gradually while still maintaining a pace that never feels rushed. What I really appreciate is how the anime builds the relationships between the characters. It’s not overly dramatic, but more like, “we’re a team, and we need to survive together.” Natural, warm interactions, with just enough tension every time they land on a new planet. Even though the genre leans heavily into sci-fi mystery, the story stays easy to follow. Each planet brings a unique challenge, and watching them work together makes you g…

This anime is by far one of the best anime with good characters, peak story, decent animation with so many plot twists. I have watched around 400 animes. By far this is one of the best anime with so many unexpected plots twists and turns. I am sad by how this anime ended very quickly. While other sh*t shows out there get season 5. This anime is very short and enjoyable.Every episode in this anime ends with a plot twist (like a cliffhanger). Trust me watch this anime.I am a pro anime viewer. This review can go much longer but I don't want to spoil anything regaring this anime , so I am ending this review here.

Such a fun, thrilling, heartfelt, and enjoyable ride this show was. The beginning felt very simple and the characters kinda annoying which made me hesitate continuing but I'm so glad I did because of the huge payoff. It was full of twists and turns with an ending like lotr; a sweet and satisfying conclusion of a long journey that continues after the book ends. It's the type of story where the further you go along the more context you have for what was going on in the beginning of the show. For the first few episodes some people's behaviors felt jarring in how melodramatic or over the top they were. But over the course of the show you develop more understanding of each person's worldview and reasoning and how it effects their situation. Then you get the pleasure to watch them grow as peop…

I just finished Astra Lost in Space and there is a really good core of unique story here that nails most of what it wants. While it does what its going for I wish there were a bit more risks taken and the writing to be toned down at times but I think given the short runtime and the care put into the story, you won't be wasting your time watching this. Pros I really felt that Lost in Space did a great job in two major fronts. While they made an interesting enough mystery they never forces twist after twist there was a smooth ride throughout, if any there is probably an argument that the pacing on that side of the plot might be a bit slow. But since they spread out the story that let each character have their moment, though some where really one episode then forgotten, but given they made a…

Hear me out. Kanata no Astra is peak. I had a VERY hard time getting through episodes 4-6. Part of the reason is that I was watching it in dub as I was cooking at the time, but most of it was the writing. The spoiler-free explanation of the show's poor writing is bad pacing. Almost every episode has action scene after action scene that doesn't end up resolving till the end of the episode with that corny ending track playing over it. There are lots of moments where, as the viewer, you don't get a chance to catch your breath, and the stakes are driven way too high, way too soon, only to be resolved with a deus ex machina EVERY TIME. However, the show, as a whole, is definitely worth watching. Episodes 7-12 more than make up for 4-6. I like how they explore ideas in sci-fi that we don't norma…

I really don't understand the hype surrounding this anime. It's average at best. And God knows I love space in all its forms. But here, it all rings hollow. The characters are caricatures, the plot is flimsy, the mysteries and twists are predictable. The animation neither moved nor transcended me. A cosmic disappointment. They've missed out on what could have been a great anime. The story had potential and the playground offered by space exploration and stellar survival is infinite. Unfortunately, it doesn't take long before you're faced with an unpalatable dish. The story bites its own tail, we go round in circles, the assassin is burnt out a mile away from the very first two episodes, and the sub-plots are rubbish. The animation left me cold. Yet for the first few seconds of the firs…

ABSOLUTE CINEMA Just in 12 ep. a huge and complex story is told. This is the magic of 12 ep. animes. I finished it in one evening and got so many positive emotions and questions to think about. There is one drawback, it is a low budget because of which 3d is used, but only when it`s necessary. And fortunately it is not at all noticeable. The whole story is very well written and suspense is present everywhere. The plot knows how to hang the gun at the right place and let it fire at the right time. Vibe is very similar to Summertime Render, but unlike it, Kanata no Astra doesn`t let you get bored. It constantly brings you back to a state of tension and desire to solve the mystery. The immersion reaches such level that you put yourself in the characters` shoes and think through a plan of a…

Tbh for me I really liked it it has a great anime and I like how each character is shown in there own way and how they compliment each character for there respected capabilities and I really like how they find a new planet on each episode which makes each episode feel different and unique I really liked this anime and I would highly recommend it and but the thing I wanted the most is more action but it's more of a exploring anime than action but I really like it even though some caractère were a lil different wat I expected

Boasting an excellent production and solid foundation throughout, Astra Lost in Space excels in creating a compelling character-driven narrative. To begin with the former, both the first and last episodes have doubled the runtime, garnering a better first impression and allowing for a proper and satisfying resolution. Moreover, the opening and ending themes were dynamic, being included, removed, or altered depending on what worked best. The quality never dropped. As for the latter, the writing did have a noticeable by-the-book story arc structure, but the fantastic character chemistry and development, interesting worldbuilding, and engaging mystery nearly completely overshadowed this. Go and watch the first episode!

A mystery in space revolving around a bunch of children. Each episode tries to leave you with something to mule over until the next. It was real close to being a recommend for me, but unrealistic characters and decisions really took me out of it. The whole premise itself was a bit too much for me at the start. They are going alone to a planet for a few days as a class trip? I understand this is supposed to be a futuristic society, but even in current times a group of kids wouldn't be sent out to some remote area as a class bonding trip alone. There would be chaperones. If that was the only hick-up I could have recovered, but during the whole story decisions are made, and characters act in ways that make no sense for their situation. I'm not going to go into details, but the show even 4th…

Just discovered this a couple weeks ago. I was hooked after 2 episodes. After ending this series, I felt really surprised how long it took me to find this absolute gem. It gave me the warm and fuzzy, while also keeping me in suspense, the story beats are expertly paced out. Most of the plot twists were things I would never have predicted, though I was so engrossed that my brain was just going along for the ride most of the time. As I mentioned, I was so engrossed in the story, the way it's written is masterful. It's densely packed, around 2 major events happening per episode, and yet it never felt rushed. I felt like I never missed a beat of character development, their inter-personal relationships, as though I experienced everything in as much fullness as it could possibly be. More so…

Enjoy the travel more than it's destination. Astra lost in space is a good soap opera but has some big flaws by the end. The ending delivers big closure for all characters, but the latter episodes becacome a big exposition dump, with great revelations and mysteries nonetheless. Shinohara Kenta is really good at doing just that (characters talking interesting stuff in the same room) because his previous work in Sket Dance was exactly full of that, but worked a lot better because of the premise. This series starts as a solid survival through unknown space planets in a very neat way, describing the planets with enough detail to make them feel alive while also juggling some great scifi concepts which become darker as they progress. By episode 7, the level of mystery is tremendous, but als…

A quick-paced, sci-fi anime with a little bit of everything; adventure, romance and some action wherein the characters in this story embark onto space and finds themselves in a conquest to get home safely. Within that twelve-episode watch, there weren't much time wasted and it was able to present itself in a very straightforward manner, and it was easy to get yourself hooked up to. Animation (7.5/10) - I think they did alright, generally it somehow felt like a middle-child quality in between the 2010s and 2020s; Although what I would like to emphasize is their distinct usage of color palettes. Every time their locations change, so does their color presentation which I think is rudimentary, but a functional method of portraying moods and the environment they reside onto. Alongside with the…

The hell bro how come this is a 8star rating? First of, a one of a kind anime that involves space exploration and survival. To add to that, we have suspense and 1 imposter to the ship that they have to find before they got killed. The twist is also unique and the final explanation to what's happening is easy to understand and pieces out the clue of the puzzle. Second, we have 5 different kinds of planets to explore, each planet has a unique kind of ecosystem and things that are in it, so it's refreshing to see the each different kinds of planets. Third, each character is unique of it's own. You can also feel and see that the characters are growing each episode, each thing or task that they have to do to survive. Finally, to conclude this, areis spring is such a cutie, and Kanata ma…
