Blue Exorcist

Blue Exorcist

Introduction

Humans and demons are two sides of the same coin, as are Assiah and Gehenna, their respective worlds. The only way to travel between the realms is by the means of possession, like in ghost stories. However, Satan, the ruler of Gehenna, cannot find a suitable host to possess and therefore, remains imprisoned in his world. In a desperate attempt to conquer Assiah, he sends his son instead, intending for him to eventually grow into a vessel capable of possession by the demon king. Ao no Exorcist follows Rin Okumura who appears to be an ordinary, somewhat troublesome teenager—that is until one day he is ambushed by demons. His world turns upside down when he discovers that he is in fact the very son of Satan and that his demon father wishes for him to return so they can conquer Assiah together. Not wanting to join the king of Gehenna, Rin decides to begin training to become an exorcist so that he can fight to defend Assiah alongside his brother Yukio. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

This anime is enjoyable if you turn off your brain. As a 35 year old man watching shounen anime I feel like it was too childish and could have been deeper and more interesting with some of the plot points. The world is weird, in the story it seems as if Catholicism is objectively correct however its also mixed with a possible frequent mistranslation of the word demon as there are many Japanese folk spirits who appear to be the same thing as demons but are benevolent? Its not very consistent there. There is also one important character who I think we are meant to empathise with but they make the most insane unexplainable choices in the name of compassion for all? The people in the story who react negatively to these incomprehensibly insane decisions are portrayed as the bad guys rather than…

I know if I rewatch it I’ll probably lower my rating probably to a 7/10 but I rated so high because I think it was ahead of its time , the story telling is not so good either but I feel that as a kid this was one of the Demon/Spirits shounen Anime. Good Side Characters and it was funny to me . But yes just have in mind my high rating is based on nostalgia but it’s also a solid Anime. I think a lot of yall would enjoy it and maybe is not a Jujutsu Kaisen or Demon Slayer but it from 2011 it really solid .

Blue Exorcist depicts as a supernatural action story built around the conflict between the human world and the realm of demons. Beneath its energetic battles and dark fantasy setting lies a narrative about identity, inheritance, and the struggle to choose one’s own path despite a destiny shaped by forces far beyond personal control. The story follows Rin Okumura, a seemingly ordinary teenager raised in a church together with his younger twin brother Yukio. Their guardian, Father Shiro Fujimoto is an experienced exorcist who works to protect the human world from demonic threats. Rin grows up rebellious and hot-tempered, often clashing with authority and struggling to find direction in life. Despite his rough personality, he carries a strong sense of loyalty toward the people who raised him.…

Finally decided to start writing reviews... I watched this anime some time ago so it's only based on my memory of the series ;p Ao no Exorcist is an anime that stands out for its striking visuals and intriguing story, even if the execution doesn’t fully live up to its potential. The story follows Rin and Yukio, twin brothers raised by a priest, who discover they are the sons of Satan. Rather than embracing their demonic heritage, they choose to fight against it by training as exorcists. It's a compelling setup with plenty of room for action, emotion, and moral complexity However, as the series progresses the plot kinda loose "that" something for me. The narrative shifts into a more traditional school setting, which slows down the pacing. While there are still moments of solid character d…

Cool Aesthetic, Meh Story So Blue Exorcist starts off strong. The whole “son of Satan becomes an exorcist” idea is super cool, and the animation looks great. But let’s be real—the best part of this anime is the openings. Absolute bangers. “Core Pride”? Still on my playlist. That said, the story kind of falls flat. It feels like there’s a lot of filler, and the pacing is all over the place. Sometimes it’s dark and intense, then suddenly it’s goofy school life stuff that doesn’t go anywhere. It just never fully commits to either tone, so the plot ends up feeling a bit meh. The characters are fun but don’t get a ton of depth, and by the end, I wasn’t super invested in what was happening. It’s not bad, just kind of average. Cool world, great music, but the story didn’t really stick with me.…

This will be liked by the fans who dig the friendship trope animes. Basically, everyone has powers, but some are more useless than the others. Obligatory episode exclusively for them to have their own screen time and then they’re forgotten. The anime shined once Sawano Hiroyuki entered the battles. This for sure made this series bearable with its epic soundtracks. And of course the other sole reason to keep the viewers invested is the lovely Yamada-kun with their two big intertwined plots. The story is predictable. The style is what you’d see in most early 2010s era. Liked the first OP (as most of the OPs from that time).

Well this is a very entertaining Shonen. The story is fun, the character designs are even more fun, they are kawaii and also cool. The visuals in this show are some of the best in my opinion. It really embodies Christian mythos in such a palatable and funny fashion. The best thing about it is that it's very childish as it reminded me shows like Idaten jump and Beyblade which brings a nostalgic vibe. Despite all that the show does follow a linear storytelling and has prominent aspects of modern Shonen. Another favorite of mine is the goofy and spooky elements of the show and also the fact that none of the characters are annoying and some like Mephisto even quote Nitzche sometimes! Overall if you wanna watch something fun, easygoing yet having battles which is just entertaining to watch wit…

Blue Exorcist, I like the somewhat dark and fantasy concept of the anime, with the Exorcist, Satan, and Demons. It's a concept that's rarely found in certain animes. Another reason I enjoy it is that it also explores the relationships between humans and monsters in general, and what humans think of monsters. I find this very interesting, in contrast to the filler episodes towards the end, which are generally less interesting. The characters are endearing, funny, and serious. Except for Shiemi Moriyama, who is quite annoying with her naïve personality. As for the soundtrack, the openings, endings, and OSTs fit well with the anime's atmosphere. In short, it's a good anime that is enjoyable and entertaining in its genre.

It starts off pretty well but it really is kind of tame when all is said and done. I enjoyed it but it was boring and the last couple episodes are left field and I found it really silly, although in my head Im gearing to forget the Anime arc moving forward. Its charming and I definitely want to continue with Season 2 and 3, so we'll see where it goes. The movie was good though it was fun although I know 16-25 are not canon it was aight. I like Rin he's a stereotypical main character but Yukio is so much cooler in my eyes. Its a toss up you may enjoy it but I know many are going to be disappointed in the first season

Blue Exorcist was an unoriginal yet great anime that definitely had it's good and bad moments. Blue Exorcist can be faulted for it's unoriginal, demon based story which did change it's pacing a lot throughout the entirety of the anime. The story centers around your typical protagonist, rebel frowned upon hero Rin Okurmura training to become a demon exorcist. The story telling eventhough can be seen as 'rushed' is explained and detailed well making it an enticing yet easy to understand plot. It has certain sparks which makes it incredibly unique and inviting but can still include your typical anime clichés Certain parts of the anime can get a little underwhelming. The plot build up is great but the action behind the show is slow not having proper action and full on demon slaying till about…

The story is interesting and as the story progressed, the characters are introduce in a good way (just like a typical shounen anime) The villains motivation were interesting and being a son of satan made me feel invested on what the story has to offer. Overall the animation s good the OP is also good. However Ii feel Rin Okumura has a weak appeal for me because me he's motivation and personality were not enough to make invest more, likewise from the other main characters. The female lead Shiemi is adorable and aa good support for supporting the main protagonist Rin. I watched this anime 7 years ago and maybe as a teenage boy I enjoyed it very much. But looking back as an adult makes me feel just okay or just fine anime. But is this anime worth to watch? If your new to anime, absolutely y…

Writing this review just to say that the anime only ending was infinitely better than what happened in the manga. It's what solidified it as one of my childhood best animes. Season 2 was so sad and annoying. Everybody is so annoying and stupid in season 2, because the anime only ending didn't happen. I think what I like most about Blue Exorcist over similar B tier shounens of this era is how brisk the pacing is. It never stays on the same thing until you get bored. It never keeps an annoying character or plot point mind-numbingly annoying for long (I think one of the problems that really stands out about shounens in this era). Except that in season 2, when the thing that removed the most annoying characters and plot point in the series gets canceled because it's not manga accurate, it gets…

Blue exorcist was anime that has a great premise that I really like, 2 sons with the mother of a human and a father of Satan himself. With high expectations of this being as great as the manga but I guess the studio had other plans and decided to go their own route an try making it an anime ending. The characters were really bland and I didn't really came to like any of them but the only on i think had to most personality was rin and i think he is annoying. The animation style was really good for its time but the song choices wasn't the best. I enjoyed it till its second course, and in all honestly I don't remember any part of this show that i enjoyed to make this redeemable besides the comedy being involved here and there which i didnt enjoy too much but it was still ok, so what I rate th…

Well, I have never felt more mixed feelings in any other anime than this anime. The story is really great and innovative but I didn't like the way they presented it. The main characters were on the screen almost all the time while the secondary characters were almost away all the show or were present but had no interference or were useless. The drawing style is just amazing with fantastic animation. I believe there were a few filler episodes like the birthday episode and such and you can skip them. Might be slightly spoiling but I'll try not to: In the end, I really didn't like how the main character(s) got so powerful in such a short time and without showing any suffering in how they got there. And I really hated the blond girl that tried to stop Satan by hugging him and was so annoying…

Blue Exorcist was very hyped when it came out, for two reasons. One being the only thing most people care about, the pretty colors. The animation was very good compared to most other anime which are cutting their budgets because they are just making cheap promotions of the source material. The other positive was the very exciting beginning, which was promising a lot, only to deliver nothing. In the first two episodes, the protagonist finds out he is the son of the devil, he vows before his foster father’s corpse to become the most powerful exorcist and to destroy him with his infernal powers. What followed that awesome premise had nothing to do with it. He just went to a school where he was shouting at his brother, reading manga, complaining about homework, sleeping in class, failing in al…

This was my all time favorite anime, despite it's cgi. And yeah people would say the animation is cheap but yk, it's for the budget. Other than that this is one underrated masterpiece because of it's funny moments and the fight scene. I think this anime needs more attention despite it being 11 years old now. And would I recommend this, well it depends. If you like high quality, insane epic fight scenes then I don't think you won't enjoy it that much, but if you like another anime (idk like demon slayer, seraph of the end, etc...) then I think u would like this.

I feel like it's a classic to rewatch or to get into this lifestyle. It is unique and very interesting. It has a fantastic fandom with tons of content to enjoy. Also rin is best boi. I do feel like the gaps between content is far and annoying. It infuriates me because I want to see what happens next. I cant afford to buy the manga. The other characters (all but rin.) Are annoying and honestly repulsive to watch on screen. They treat rin horribly for something he cant control, only izumo is the same as before. Izumo is rude and stuck up and that never changes in the anime.

I had really high hopes when I first watched this, but I guess that was all for nothing. The story follows a pair of twin brothers, Yukio Okumura, and the star of the show Rin Okumura. They're the sons of Satan. The conflict is between the Okumura brothers. Rin was born with demonic powers, similar to those of his father. Yukio was born about as normal as any other person. The most interesting thing about Yukio is his brother. Yukio is a selfish person more worried about himself than others. He thinks like a child. He seems to have a problem with his brother because ... he's the son of Satan? You're twins! How could you dislike somebody for who their father is if you guys have the same parents? Yukio tries to kill Rin multiple times throughout the series, failing to get even remotely clos…

It's a good show, with a nice premise, but the characters are by far the worst thing in this show. Ren's brother is such a jerk. Ren's "friends" are complete idiots who changed their entire attitudes towards Ren for no apparent reason (keep in mind he revealed his secret trying to protect THEM). This show lacked any direction, the plot went in so many wonky directions. When I first watched it, I enjoyed it, but found myself getting annoyed at the characters. I tried rewatching recently and I couldn't even get through the first 5 episodes. It had so much potential, but in the end, it didn't meet it. Story - 3 Art - 8 Sound - 7 Character - 2 Enjoyment - 7 Overall - 5

I wasn't originally going to write a review, especially because this is quite the old series, and there's a lot of additional content I haven't watched. Although, I don't think the average person really gets all the references. There's soo many additions to the series from the folk tale Faust which are really subtle, which you don't really notice unless you know the story of Faust, which I thought was a nice touch I needed to mention. Mephisto transforming into a dog or mentioning the challenge, down to the very line of "stop time, thou art is so beautiful" which is a reference to the ending of Faust 2. Although I was at first quite confused with the inclusion of all of the references in the anime, I can say they were enjoyable as someone who read the Faust story thoroughly. Overall though…
