Cowboy Bebop

Cowboy Bebop

Introduction

Crime is timeless. By the year 2071, humanity has expanded across the galaxy, filling the surface of other planets with settlements like those on Earth. These new societies are plagued by murder, drug use, and theft, and intergalactic outlaws are hunted by a growing number of tough bounty hunters. Spike Spiegel and Jet Black pursue criminals throughout space to make a humble living. Beneath his goofy and aloof demeanor, Spike is haunted by the weight of his violent past. Meanwhile, Jet manages his own troubled memories while taking care of Spike and the Bebop, their ship. The duo is joined by the beautiful con artist Faye Valentine, odd child Edward Wong Hau Pepelu Tivrusky IV, and Ein, a bioengineered Welsh corgi. While developing bonds and working to catch a colorful cast of criminals, the Bebop crew's lives are disrupted by a menace from Spike's past. As a rival's maniacal plot continues to unravel, Spike must choose between life with his newfound family or revenge for his old wounds. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

I really didn’t like this anime or enjoy it, given its episodic nature. Every episode felt like it dragged on forever. I didn’t like it—in fact, it even bothered me—that, despite there being 26 episodes, they didn’t form one continuous story. The villains are fleeting and completely disposable; they have no depth, and the protagonists find them far too easy to defeat. By the next episode, nobody even talks about them anymore—they’re forgotten, as if this were a slice-of-life series where everything gets wrapped up in one episode and then everyone moves on. This even happens with the main villain, Vicious, and with Julia. While she isn’t exactly a villain, I would’ve liked to see more of her. She could’ve added a lot of drama, no doubt about it. To make matters worse, Ed has to be one of…

It's was a very highly rated and very highly regarded show, so I was pretty excited about starting it. But maybe this is for the first time that i was disappointed after watching such a highly recommend peace of content. But I am being absolutely honest when I say that the show lacks emotional depth, they couldn't make me care about the characters, and the reason behind that I think is the anthology nature of the series, it have completely different and unrelated stories in almost every episodes, and that's something that I absolutely hate because those individual stories aren't that great and they also couldn't build the characters in between. So overall it was a ok series for me, the animation and stylization was great without a doubt but proper writing and storytelling is what matters t…

spike is one of the coolest mc's oat, great quality animation at the time, soundtrack is PEAK, story is amazing. i love spike's character so much he has weaknesses but is also badass and thoughtful at the same time. His baddassness and coolness is brought up because of his tragic past which I thought was really brilliant because as although he is running from his past, it doesn't stop him from being who is personality is. The other characters really are attached to their past while spike himself is both running away and starting something new. Just going to put movie and show mesh it in real quick too lazy to do extra reviews. I also like how similar but different spike and vincent are the contrast is evident because their differences also show in their similarities, both sharing a fantali…

It's one of the productions that I've watched so far that best reflects two opposing themes; they combine the western and space theme very well. Each universe has a different vegetation and different human communities, they are very successful in environment and world design. The main characters in the production are written in a contrasting and dark way in terms of story; they reflect very well on the audience that the characters try to escape from their past. The character designs are also in a style that I can call original. The characters' spacecraft are well-designed, and can mechanically project all the parts to the audience. It's a must-watch production, see you space cowboy.

‎ Overview: By the year 2071, humanity has expanded across the galaxy, filling the surface of other planets with settlements like those on Earth. Within this setting, Spike Spiegel and Jet Black pursue criminals throughout space to make a humble living. Cowboy Bebop, often regarded as Shinichirō Watanabe's magnum opus, was able to obtain a prestigious Seiun Award for Best Media of the Year.  But how was an anime about a ragtag group of bounty hunters travelling the solar system on their spaceship able to accomplish this? ‎ ‎ Firstly, what you need to understand is how Cowboy Bebop's main choice of storytelling is its episodic format. Unfortunately, this way of storytelling leads fans to criticise the lack of continuous plot momentum. Yet, I believe the episodic choice for Cowboy Bebop was…

Cowboy Bebop is genuinely one of the most entertaining shows I've watched. Every episode is great and has something different to offer. While the main story is interesting, the episodes that focus more on the characters are easily my favourites. Getting to spend time with the crew and seeing their personalities is what makes the show so enjoyable. The characters are the highlight of the show. Spike, Jet, Faye, Ed and Ein all have their own personalities, problems and ways of thinking. The way they interact with each other and confront each other is what makes the crew so interesting to watch. The show doesn't need to force character moments because they naturally come from the way they treat each other. The atmosphere is incredible. Cowboy Bebop mixes sci-fi, western and noir influences…

One of the classics and a must-watch. Cowboy Bebop blends many genres: cyberpunk, Hong Kong action, detective noir, vampires?, and most importantly, the western—more precisely the space western, which is the core of the series. The very title serves as a perfect metaphor for its soul: "Bebop" refers to a style of jazz defined by frantic tempos and brilliant improvisation, mirroring the unpredictable, chaotic lives of these bounty hunters, while "Cowboy" invokes the mythical lone gunslingers of the American frontier. There are bounty hunters, who take inspiration from spaghetti westerns, and a new frontier. Our protagonists are not heroes and only go after the prize money, yet they comically never claim a single bounty. The new frontier, despite being centered around space and colonized pl…

It's not really an 8 but more of in between 8 and 9 but Cowboy Bebop is sure a great anime. No anime carries a charm and identity unlike Cowboy. The breathtaking music and soundtrack having jazz to a sci fi spaghetti mixup with cinema references make sure why it was such a hit in the west. What we see are the usual team of members having similar character tropes in anime. What makes the whole group of characters exciting is how we only gets snippets of their past through flashbacks foreshadowing and be quite serious and melancholic but yet be so funny during the typical bounty hunting shenanigans which sometimes do get repetitive and predictable. Spike is undoubtedly the most fascinating character in this and I love how some of the dialogues are given to him in this series. He's effortles…

Cowboy Bebop is an anime that follows a crew of bounty hunters in space in the year 2071. Throughout this series, we follow these characters as they deal with their past in different ways. I’ll start with the things I didn’t like too much in this anime. I think on rewatch, I wish there were a few more episodes dedicated to the main plot of each character. This series is 26 episodes and is episodic, which I don’t mind because episodic shows can be fantastic. I think this one is great but there are also episodes dedicated to each character like Spike, Jet, and Faye dealing with their past which is a prominent theme in this. For the most part these character centric episodes are great, but I wish we just got more of them as it felt a bit apparent we could have benefited from it, particularly…

Such a complex storyline. This pulled on my heartstrings so badly I can’t bring myself to rewatch it but this was absolute cinema!!! The whole romance situation was more than your average romance anime. It’s mysterious and keeps you on your feet. I like how it’s the perfect mix of dystopian, romance, action. I love the aesthetics. Jazzy and neo noir-futuristic, perfect mix. The whole point being about not being able to run from your past was beautiful. All characters being heavily flawed however working perfectly together in the story. (Ein is the best character ever no one can change my mind).

Cowboy Bebop is an exceptional anime that will truly blow your mind. I just got into anime a couple of years back and the climax of this anime stands out as one of the best I have witnessed. The ending feels like two things at the same time, leaving a void in you and at the same time concluding on a high note. It leaves you on an emotional upheaval that lingers long after it is finished. The storytelling is top notch with almost every character having an emotional backstory that has shaped them as a person. The action sequences are well portrayed with immense style that captivates its viewers. Each episode feels different, portraying unique ideas layered with sci-fi elements and character exploration. The characters grow on you with every episode. The last two episodes of this anime co…

Beautiful Anime honestly every character is likeable AND you feel cooler watching it. The music is amazing The Seatbelts absolutely knocked it out the park , the ending is amazing bitter sweet all the character were wrapped up well enough and had solid endings i can sit with. No chance its leaving my number one spot here unless Jesus Christ Himself came down to Japan and made an Anime with his divine powers or Watanabi takes a whole lota psychedelics and makes a 26 episode Anime that absolutely blows my socks straight off. Please watch this Anime it WILL change your life trust me.

You're gonna carry that weight; the story is very tragic and I would say this is the first and only anime I've seen where it's a western set in space. Which not in a literal sense, entirely; but in the sense of it's themes and ideas it presents. This is the only anime I've seen really hit home this message with each of the characters carrying some kind of weight from their past and how they handle it and how they're struggling with it. You understand these people more and more as time goes on; as they struggle to make ends meet as well you feel even worse for them and see how they carry on. It's not 100% depressing all the time; no it chooses the right moments to hit as hard as it can to do that. Even when you see it coming, it hits hard. The voice work; sub and dub (English, idk about a…

The masterpiece of the 90s (and absurdly relevant today)! I have a curious relationship with Cowboy Bebop. The first time I tried to watch it, I gave up around episode 4; at the time it seemed slow, not very fluid, even a bit "cold." Today I recognize: part of that came from a still immature critical sense, but another part is also linked to the moment in my life when I watched it. It wasn't the kind of work that speaks to you if you're not ready for it yet. Revisiting it years later, the experience was completely different. I finally managed to see the brilliance that so many people see, although, to be honest, there are still moments when the more contemplative pace and limited animation (natural for the time) can sound a little slow. But that ceases to be a problem when you understand…

This show left me with such an odd mix of emotions. I want to care. I reaaaaally want to care. The art was gorgeous, the sound design so unique, the character design so attractive, the setting so complex and intriguing, but I finished it feeling empty, and not the kind of empty that you feel when you were so absorbed in a show that its end leaves a hole in you. None of the characters develop really at all. Worse than that, the show doesn't let the audience get to know them. Everything is so blasé. They live together, almost die together countless times, and yet it feels like they're all strangers. There is no emotional weight to anything they do. Every episode starts with a reset from the previous one, as if everything the audience just saw never happened, even if the conflict from the pre…

" Classic Among Classics " Such kind of anime describes what actually anime means . This shit ruled adult swim for a decade and showed sheer amount of raw emotions which eps of cowboy build up . Overall anime felt very smart and thoughtful. And more than that, the artwork and animation has a lovely iconic retro 90s aesthetic, which makes it still undeniably interesting. The animators could have bitten off more than they could chew but they still animated stuff like futuristic cyberpunk cities and giant planets really well. There are many references and parody like "Pierrot le Fou and Toys in the Attic" , choreography is well done and in a eye catching manner .The journey of characters feeled like a assesment of their past , present and future .They never trusted each other fully and ultim…

It's very hard to criticize this anime because it doesn't do anything bad, but by absolutely all criteria except for the music and the graphics it seems to be underdeveloped. For an episodic show, the characters here are too mediocre, and while there are a fair number of episodes that attempt to explore philosophy and meaning, most of them unfortunately fail to accomplish their task in the allotted time. For many anime fans, this doesn't matter because for them, the idea is more important than the execution. There's a distinct feeling that the scriptwriter and director are newbies, just watch Gallery Fake episode 8 for comparison. And it will immediately become clear what I mean: Gallery Fake told a complete story in the same 20 minutes; the Bebop writers can't do that even in their best…

For me, Cowboy Bebop is something unique that Watanabe Shinichirou created, one of those anime series that you won't find twice, both in terms of the OSTs and the characters, the world, the setting, the opening and ending, everything makes Cowboy Bebop unique and very beautiful. It's an episodic anime, so episodic and slice of life that it makes you feel like you're with them on the same ship. You enjoy it a lot, and it all goes by quickly and impressively, with each episode bringing something new and “innovative.” Plus, for me, the characters are some of the best I've ever seen. Another thing that makes me like the anime even more is the setting, the colors, the animation, the designs, the artwork. For something from 1998, I find it so unique that I can watch it over and over again with…

Cowboy Bebop is a certified classic. Would I recommend it? 100%. But is it a must watch? I'd argue otherwise. The series as we all now know is episodic. Each episode weaves its own unique tale and gives us glimpses into the lives and personalities of our main cast. Cowboy Bebop is a series that you must let come to you. The 1st episode instantly hooks you. Shows a very well built and thorough world based in 2071. You will instantly catch the vibe, and like Shinichiro Watanabe's Magnum Opus Samurai Champloo, This strongest point of this series is also vibe and experience. If you are expecting something very grim and serious, this series is not for you. However, If you want to go and visit your friends called Spike, Jet, Faye, Ed and Ein, You can pay a quick 20 min visit, experience their da…
