After watching the first season, I expected there to be room for improvement, and I wish I hadn't. The second season began by putting the spotlight on a new character, Jiji, but that decision was disastrous, and we got off to a bad start. The arc was far too long without justification. The series tries to be deep when it isn't, showing a sad flashback with no real meaning, while the story has reached a point where I no longer understand what its goal even is. On top of that, the objective established in the first season suddenly becomes secondary because a new character is introduced randomly and without any justification.
But what bothered me most, and what I consider disastrous about the second season, is that the randomness became even more…

This season was super awesome, even better than the first one for me. The animation got a huge upgrade and some of the scenes were just straight up insane 😂 The way they exaggerate the movements and expressions makes everything feel so chaotic but at the same time really damn good to watch.
The story also became way more interesting. There is more going on now, and I felt more invested in the characters and whatever crazy situation they were getting themselves into. One minute Im laughing at some stupid shit, then suddenly the anime hits me with a serious or emotional moment.
And the action scenes? DEYM. This is probably where the season really shines for me. The fights feel much more intense and the animation makes every little movement look crazy. I was just waiting for the next episo…

the show is even more chaotic in the second season, often throwing things at you out of left field. this is probably more of a problem for some than for others. I was quite invested in the main storyline so I didn't mind it too much but overall I think season two is (even) less coherent than season 1
there's still a lot to like. Momo and Okarun are as fun as ever, and I always love me some Turbo Baba though it's sad how she's rarely given much agency, being permanently relegated to comic relief and sage advice
there are some memorable animation choices and hilarious, cozy, and heartwarming scenes. there's one particular sequence where we see the gang sleeping and then waking up and the atmosphere of sleeping at another's house and a morning in a house with many guests is conveyed beautif…

Dandadan is another example of how good animation takes your piece of work to the next level. This part is also identical to the first, where characters are introduced, they're put in a situation against either an Ailen or a Youkai.
Showcasing ones background mid-fight, winning and the cycle continuing.
The pacing is up to standard with the new Shounens and you have fights almost every episode.
All the romance the Mangaka has read didn't go to waste, by far the best parts of the show are the little shy highschool romance we get, and then sometimes some of the back stories are delivered very well like the Silk Youkai.
The animation is so fluent and creative, and I love the voice acting, specially Momo's, like how when she touches Okarun's hand or random angry bursts at Ayase.
The class…

When the pull of the show is insanity, the unpredictability eventually becomes its most predictable feature.
I don't like that every episode ends with a cliffhanger. I don't like that most fights consist of excruciating peril and last-minute saves over and over where the characters are constantly on the precipice of defeat before convenient intervention. This artificially raises the stakes and deminishes how much I care each time.
The animation is very good and unique, however, I don't feel much pull into actually caring much about each of the fights, they often feel pointless and repetitive, action for the sake of action. Often I hear praise for this show in its romance moments between Okarun and Momo, however, they happen too few and far between to really account for anything, and don'…

The season one set a really high standard. In my opinion this show failed to live up to the standard set by the 1st season. Don't get me wrong. The action and animation is still very high quality. I just remember season one being more fun. As season one had that excellent emotional episode about a wraith. I do think the main story isn't that great in either of the seasons, but that's ok as the show is mainly about chaos and weirdness. But it still does bother me a bit that they have all this big noisy fights and yet rest of the world doesn't seem to notice. This is further highlighted with the appearance of a Kaiju and how the only characters who seem to notice it are our heroes. This time Dan Da Dan was a bit ridiculous for my taste.
I should also mention along with animation and action…

The action, comedy, sci-fi elements, and the subtle layer of romance in this anime blend together beautifully. It manages to balance all of these tones without feeling chaotic or forced, which is not an easy thing to do. The pacing feels energetic, yet the emotional moments still land when they need to.
Since it’s released on Netflix, I can’t help but feel a bit nervous about whether they might eventually interfere with it (they’ve altered or mishandled quite a few things before), although I’m not entirely sure how much influence they actually have over the anime itself. I just hope the creative direction remains consistent.
One of my favorite parts was the musical ritual scene — it was both intense and memorable, and it really stood out in terms of atmosphere and execution. I haven’t re…

I enjoyed watching season 2, I thought it was better than the first season.
The battles were great, I especially liked the evil eye part, and I watched the Hayashii group part with admiration. Jiji's friendliness and behavior are also entertaining and add to the comedy.
The part I didn't like started in the last few episodes, especially when watching Kinta, which almost made me skip through it.
Additionally, the cast started to feel a bit too crowded in my opinion; I think it was good enough with the latest addition, Jiji. I hope the latest additions, especially Kinta, aren't permanent. I think the next season is worth waiting for.

All seasons of the anime "Dandadan". At first, the entire series seemed like an okay shounen series to me, without any major breakthroughs, but with each episode, Dandadan gradually gained in my opinion. For me, season 2 is the best so far, in terms of the storylines, fights, and other twists and turns this series is famous for. The art, animation, and music are really good, so now we just have to wait for the third season, which we'll have to wait for; it's supposed to come out next year.
Final rating: 9/10. A decent shounen series with elements of horror, supernatural beings, romance, and action, although the anime itself can be quite chaotic at times with its events and other elements.

If you liked s1, you'll probably like s2. It continues with wackiness, goofy characters, and well-animated fight scenes that we all loved from s1.
That being said: the show doesn't develop a story, plot, or any kind of world-building. It continues with an episodic 'monster of the week' format. This is great if you want to turn your brain completely off.
The characters sort of stagnate in the 2nd season. It personally felt like a lot of the 'edge' the show had in character interactions disappears, especially between the male and female lead characters.
The biggest problem for me, which is probably not a problem for a lot of other people, is the fight scenes. They're incredibly long, well-animated, but ultimately boring. I skimmed through most of them. There are no stakes, no tension.…

Add this to the list of new seasons of Anime in 2025 that should of just been a continuation of a story but instead they totally shifted the tone, characters and focus into what might as well be a different spin-off show.
Much like My Dress-up Darling Season 2, they took everything you loved about the first season, drained it and just spam endless amounts of side characters and nonsense.
The MC's instantly have lost all their fun interactions, emotions and just feel like set pieces in the background rather then their dynamic driving the story like it did is season 1.
The tonal shift in their personalities is so out of place it's like in-between the final episode of season 1 and the first episode of season 2 (that is supposed to be a continuation) they all started doing steroids and decide…

Dandadan – Season 2
It still retains the uniqueness, quirkiness, and mad fun of Season 1—no letdown at all. This season feels like a perfect continuation. The movie references, absurd humor, and action are all on point. The randomness of this anime is something special, and it’s executed alongside solid character development, which is why Dandadan continues to sit at the top of my list. The cinematography and direction are exceptionally well done too.
Plot & Characters
Leans into strong shounen vibes with cinematic framing. The characters are well developed throughout the series, and you genuinely feel connected to them. Every new character introduced feels fresh and unique in their own way.
Animation
Easily one of the best this season. The direction and camera work were already strong,…

Dandadan keeps the flow going with this season 2, but it's easier to consider this season one cour 2, as we get more aliens, more yokai, and more MIGHTY FIGHTING ROBOT ACTION!
Synopsis - Both Aliens and Yokai (Spirits) are real and the adventure's continue as Momo and Okarun further strengthen their powers and add more on the team to help them deal with the ever continuing quest to find his missing ball that is filled with spiritual power...you're watching Season 2, you know what this is about don't be weird.
Story - As I said this is essentially a continuation of the first season and should be analyzed as such, we still have dark yet heart wrenching moments coupled with goofiness, high action, and a lil bit of romance in between. It has everything that anyone could want in their anime,…

Dandadan Season 2 has been genuinely entertaining to watch. The energy is still there, the weirdness keeps getting funnier, and the story finally feels like it’s moving somewhere interesting. It is the kind of season that you put on thinking you will watch one episode and suddenly you are four episodes deep without noticing.
My favorite character so far is Gigi. I do not know how to explain it but every time he shows up the neurons in my brain start clapping. He is hilarious, he is dramatic, he is kind of perfect actually. YUP and he only thing letting me down a little is that I have no idea how long I have to wait for Season 3. I’m already emotionally pacing like a cat at the door.

If you liked DanDaDan here's more of it. You don't need to be told how to enjoy it.
I was impressed the anime expanded what the manga can't do in the realm of music.
I'm not a fan of sakuga but what appears here is carefully storyboarded. You can tell what's going on and keep track of where it's going at. Blinking won't leave you lost. They don't transform into lines of plasma. It's clean sakuga I guess. Sakuga lacks impact that you get from normal animation but because it is clean here I have no complaints over its use.
I was more impressed with introductions of characters. One certain intro makes good use of the move from manga to anime. Very funny too.

Very fun!
It's easy to understand why Dandadan is so successful; the anime is well-made, the story is fun, the jokes are good. I could praise this work until tomorrow if I wanted to, haha.
This season not only maintained the quality of the previous one, it surpassed its predecessor. The story and the animation quality are incredibly well done. I can say that I had a lot of fun watching this season.
I wanted to highlight the animation quality, especially in episodes 10 and 11. In these episodes, the tone becomes greenish, which gives the episode a more supernatural/alien feel. It was fun to see this change in those episodes.
Overall, this work is something you can watch several times without getting tired of it (something rare for me). I recommend it to anyone who wants a modern shounen…

It was alright. Not sure if the honeymoon phase I got from watching season 1 wore off or not, but season 2 was noticeably more "stupid" and in a sense... boring? Many times throughout I found myself pausing mid episode and "finishing it later" because either I wasn't in the mood or whatever was happening at the moment just didn't hold my attention.
Season 1 has much of the same ridiculous & over the top moments as season 2, but season 2 kind of makes you realize that this kind of entertainment or theme spoils quick. We get some character development sprinkled throughout and a detrimental addition to the cast. More action scenes of course, but I would say that few of them left that big of an impression on me.
If you liked season 1 and want more from the show... you will either go through…

Was expecting it to continue as good as the first Season because it's rated higher everywhere, was even kind of looking forward to it finishing so I can binge and rewatched large parts of the first Season to get up-to-speed.
Instead the first 5 Episodes are mindless Battle Shounen, and it goes from being kind of funny in a zany and unexpected way to just dumb, then there's like 2-3 episodes in-between of the usual hi-jinks and then Training and more Battle Shounen stuff. I was getting bored and drifting off constantly during the endless Evil Eye, Old Maestros and Kaiju battles. There's little of the chemistry and comedy between the characters that was prominent in the first Season left.
After finishing the first Season I was pondering where she show would go from there had something more…

I haven't read the manga, so I can't compare it to the original material, but I had a lot of fun watching this season. The characters continue to be very well developed, the plot has become denser, and we now have a much greater understanding of the world and its mysteries. Unlike the first season, the story is clearer and more cohesive this time around.
The episodes are consistent and well-paced, with a great balance between emotion and humor. Jiji's arc was handled excellently, and the mix of comedy and romance is even stronger and more natural, making each episode exciting and engaging.
The highlight, however, goes to the direction. Each episode is phenomenally constructed, with the pacing, tone shifts, and transitions handled with great skill. The series is a true work of visual and…

+ Terrific animation! The adaptation really understands the source material, using a mixture of comedy and action to elevate the silliness of the manga.
+ Like the first season, the OP and ED have an electric energy that really captures the kinetic quality and hip-hop style of Dandadan.
+ The pacing is fast and frenetic, never lingering too long on any one plot point and able to engage our attention by virtue of its unrelenting story momentum.
~ The downside to this breakneck pacing is the startling lack of closure. Story arcs don't have definitive endings, but cheap cliffhangers before a halfhearted segue whisks us away to the next character introduction, the next battle, or the story arc.
= People remember Dandadan as a flashy sci-fi/fantasy fusion involving Japanese yokai and aliens, b…
