No matter how long it's been since this came out and how stunning Ufotable visuals still are, this is, in my opinion, the weakest of the main Fate animes.
Even though it's a good and enjoyable anime, it's definitely not the best way to get introduced into the Fate franchise. It is definitely a complementary anime to close some of the loose ends of the Fate route (especially the anime, already known for not being fully faithful to the source material).
Here, the main female protagonists of the other routes are sent to a negligible role in the life of Shiro, and his relationship with the main girl isn't properly built. Romance and tsundere interactions that help build their relationship are scarce or sometimes abrupt.
In addition, Shirou's strong convictions contrast excessively with the sof…

The anime opens with a 42 minutes mostly slice of life episode and shows the main characters daily life at school at home etc when the episode is nearly over he sees something he isn't supposed to see and after that he summons a servant and joins a holy grail war. That's how anime starts at the start it feels like an action anime. But as the story progresses it turns into a clash of ideals and even though our main character knows his ideals are impossible to achieve he still tries because that's what's important, it sounds cool right? Sorry for saying this after all that yapping but It isn't nearly as good as the original vn don't get me wrong the anime is still okay but vn is just too good so if you're interested in the story it's better to just read the vn please take my advice even if y…

Review for season 1 and 2
This is my second time through F/S N and I truly enjoyed the series. It's an interesting plot, but why would the masters be made up 75% of school kids? Other than to draw in an audience none, but they have to be there in that city. And the use of the holy grail to grant a wish shows that the original writer either didn't understand the concept of the Holy Grail or just didn't care and liked the mythos behind the search for it. I loved Saber, she was a well drawn character as a servant but her origin story shows a severe disrespect for the character she was originally portrayed as. Still, it was entertaining.
I loved Lancer, he was brilliant as was Caster. I loved Tiger and I wish they had spent more time working on her relationship with Shirou, that was quite im…

It’s very hard not to compare this version with the original 2006 Fate. If you’re unsure about watching this adaptation, this review might be for you.
The good:
-This follows a different route from the one shown in the 2006 anime, so aside from the first few episodes, almost everything else is new.
-The characters are better developed, especially Shirou. One of the biggest flaws of the original 2006 anime was how it handled its characters; in this version there is much better development for all of them, although it still has some issues. At least Shirou is far less cringe to watch, Rin shines more as a character, and Archer is explored in greater depth.
-The visuals are beautiful. Both the art and animation, as well as the previous season, look fantastic, with detailed backgrounds and st…

Over time, as I was watching each episode, I would occasionally check the comments on this page, and I was honestly surprised to see how many people were dissatisfied with this anime.
Even so, I can understand the reason. This anime adapts one of the most significant visual novels ever made. I personally haven’t read the VN, but I’ve seen countless comments about how strong it is narratively. So it seems natural to me that an anime adaptation might not fully measure up, in fact, I would be surprised if it did.
Since I have only seen the anime, I can’t really judge how faithful or unfaithful it is to the source material. What I can say is that the story is very compelling, the characters are excellent, the animation is masterful, and the soundtrack is equally impressive.
The only real cr…

Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works is an anime I enjoyed, though it’s clearly not a masterpiece nor the best entry in the Fate saga. That place belongs to Zero. (For context: so far I’ve only watched this anime, Fate/Zero, and Fate/stay night (2006). I’ll refer to them as “Zero” and the “Fate” route to avoid confusion and write less.)
So let’s begin the review.
Note: Some readers may consider parts of this review to contain light spoilers, but no major plot points are revealed.
1. Narrative (30%)
I have mixed feelings about this point. While it’s better written than Fate/stay night (2006), it doesn’t even come close to Fate/Zero.
It has several issues: without going into spoilers, there are many inconsistencies in the script, especially regarding the deaths of certain Servants. Also…

Season two is a step up from the first—mostly because some long-teased mysteries finally pay off, and the action gets more intense. Shirou starts to come into his own, and there’s a great moment where he hits rock bottom but keeps going, which really sells his growth.
The characters get a bit more fleshed out this season. Rin’s character arc is a bit of a rollercoaster—by season two she’s more likable and important, but early on, she felt cold and careless, not that different from villains like Kirei or Kiritsugu. Ironically, Shinji had more integrity than her at the start, but by mid-season they’ve swapped roles completely.
The animation is still high quality—great colors, shading, and depth—but there are some weird visual moments: awkward side profiles, super sharp chins, oversized eye…

It sure was
I said this in the first season's review but I'm going to try to elaborate a little more on why I prefer Deen over Ufotable when it comes to the artstyle and animation.
One of my big peeves with UBW was how often it felt like they were surrounded by fog, especially during the fights. It felt more like they were fighting in Silent Hill than any normal town. Speaking of which, I'm sorry but Unlimited Blade Works world (as in the Reality Marble that the power UBW is in, not the world that the anime UBW is in) looks boring as fuck.
The fights just kind of feel like... a cutscene, if it makes sense? Like, it feels less like a natural extension of the story and more like a disjointed cutscene to show off how Cool Ufotable is and how much money they can pour into their animation.…

Fate/stay night [Unlimited Blade Works] Season 2 not only maintains the momentum set by its predecessor but also escalates the narrative to thrilling heights. As an ardent fan who revisits anime on MyAnimeList, it's evident that this season represents a significant leap forward in terms of storytelling, character dynamics, and sheer intensity.
In contrast to the measured pacing of the first season, Season 2 catapults viewers into a whirlwind of events and revelations. The dialogue takes on a new dimension of depth, with meaningful conversations that not only drive the plot but also provide insight into characters' motivations and ideologies. The series manages to strike a balance between introspection and action, resulting in moments that are intellectually stimulating and emotionally res…

My overall thoughts on fate/stay night UBW is that it had something promising after season one but ultimately was lacking and was missing something. I think that the animation alone is a reason to watch the fate series despite it's flaws.
Plot [7/10]: I'm assuming you have seen UBW season 1. There are a number of plot twists within season two but I am not a fan of them. Frankly put, it is revealed that information that was given initially to Shirou, Rin, and the viewers are essentially just lies and the true nature of the Holy Grail War is something different altogether. Compared to the VN, UBW is considerably shorter and things have to get cut inevitably. Sometimes things aren't well explained and things simply happen. My issue with the plot twists is that they simply aren't significant…

Well, well, well. Look what we have here. Another anime to review. Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works 2nd Season. What a mouthful. Let me tell you, folks, this anime has got some story. And it's a nice one, too. I mean, who doesn't love a good tale about a bunch of characters fighting to the death for the Holy Grail? Classic stuff.
But let's talk about the characters, shall we? We've got some good ones in this show. You've got your brooding protagonist, your powerful and mysterious heroine, your wise mentor, your loyal sidekick, and of course, your obligatory comic relief. They're all here, folks, and they're all pretty decent.
Now, as for the music... well, it's there. It's not bad, but it's not exactly memorable, either. It's just kind of... there. You know what I mean? It's like e…

Review for S1/S2:
Fate/stay night is probably the best series you can possibly create with terrible writing. It feels odd to give this a 7 but I truly think it is the most fitting ranking.
This anime has what I call the villain pussy disease. When the villains have the upper hand, they always retreat because of some stupid reason. Shirou summoned swords and now he's too scary. Ilyasviel doesn't want to fight anymore. Kotomine just STOPS PAYING ATTENTION. Fuck you that's stupid.
On the other hand, FSNUBW is rather enjoyable to watch in other ways. The main cast work well with each other and develop to a reasonable degree. Archer in particular was a treasure to watch. The main theme of this route - the hypocrisy of selfless utilitarianism (Effective Altruism?) - is explored to a satisfac…

There was more action than in the first season, that's good, but the ending didn't quite convince me. The animation was very good as expected, the development of excellent characters and how they develop the plot seemed spectacular to me. Another thing that I loved was seeing the development between the protagonists, I would have liked to see a little more where that relationship ended. But I am satisfied with what I saw. The ending was the only thing I didn't like, that is, the good guys win too much and I personally don't like that kind of ending at all since it's very typical but well, I'm not saying it's a bad ending but I don't like it. I'm done loving. It is also still a very good and entertaining anime to watch. I highly recommend it if you want to see things.

Fate UBW S1 and S2: (contains HEAVY plot spoilers, so please only read if you don't care)
Let's go...
The fucking series is basically the union of 7 mages who have the objective of summoning slaves, who at some time in history (past, present, future) were considered "Great Heroes", to fight with each other and get possession of the Holy Grail, which is nothing more than the objectification of all sins and desires of all people on the planet, in which whoever possesses it can fulfill any desire. (1 for your servant and 1 for the master)
Okay now the shit is, who wanted to participate in this war was fucking Rin, but after Shirou was seen watching a fight between Rin's servant (archer) and another servant, the lancer, in which his owner is revealed later to be the m…

A review to the whole Unlimited Blade Works TV Anime. Compared to the 2006 adaptation, I have mostly the same opinions on this one after rewatching.
Animation is indeed very amazing, Fukasawa is my fav and used some VN OSTs so the soundtracks are fine too.
The downsides as always tho, is the adaptation. While this is one of the best Fate adaptations along with FGO Babylonia, it still failed to adapt a lot of the characters especially Shirou. But that doesn't mean it's bad. Shrou and the other's characterization here are great the problem is that the audience just can't pay attention to them.
8.5/10. One of the best Fate adaptation
P.S. I will upload my Heaven's Feel trilogy review tomorrow and will write it on the review section of Spring Song.

I'll keep this review as short as I can. This review is for both S1 and S2. It's easier that way. I gave S1 an 8. This season was better and more interesting. You wanted to keep going more.
Fate/Stay Night UBW is the first one out of the Fate series I've seen. The story in this specific anime is really good, but considering how the story works thoughout the whole franchise, I'll give it a 7/10. It would've been higher if it was a standalone anime. The thing is, in my opinion this story does not make the whole nonlinear thing work for me. Don't get me wrong, I love non-linear stories. But this one just doesn't fit it. Not only that, it doesn't do it that well either. Apparently, you can't watch Fate/Zero without getting Heaven's Feel spoiled. But you can't watch UBW without spoiling Zero.…

Second half of holy grail in Rin's route. This one is little downhilled compare to it's previous season of Unlimited blade works. Type-Moon and Ufotable did great with animation and music and voice actors but storyline was not as much enjoyable.
The death of Kotomine Kirei and Gilgamesh wasn't justified. Gilgamesh is literally a broken characters while Kirei is hard to kill when you are facing in close combat as seen in Fate/zero. But in Unlimited blade works their death was written badly. Kirei's death could be convincible, if he had put an fight and that would cause Gilgamesh's disappearance like in the end of previous Fate route.
Good contents from this part is, there is more of Rin-Shirou shipping moments, I find it as better relationship than Saber-Shirou.

(Spoilers for Season 2 and possibly Season 1.)
I planned to do this review the day after I finished the anime but life got bad so now here we are now a week later lol. Sorry if some things are wrong or messy, since my memory isn't the best at times. Anyways, let's get right into my review.
UBW is one of the notable parts in the Fate Series right beside Zero and reasonably so, it stands out quite a bit and for a good reason in my eyes. A series just as flashy and unique as its predecessor, with many twists and turns throughout it. I'm sure you're bound to like this one as well if you liked Zero, since it gives you new and refreshing characters to enjoy and also hate.
Story: The Fate series is largely known for its story, being very long and having many different ways to enjoy it and such…

"I am the bone of my sword. Steel is my body, and fire is my blood. I have created over a thousand blades. Unknown to death. Nor known to life. Have withstood pain to create many weapons. Yet, those hands will never hold anything. So as I pray, Unlimited Blade Works."
And with this famous sentence I would like to introduce you to my very first MAL review about an anime I´ve fallen deeply in love with.
(This review also contains Season 1 and the prologue because it is one story split into two parts and can be seen as one 26 episode season)
Spoilers ahead!
Following the 5th grail war in which the winner gets to have a wish, which will get fullfilled by the holy grail, the story mainly focuses on the main hero and heroine, Rin and Shirou, who get involved into this war. Their journey inh…
