Frieren: Beyond Journey's End Season 2

Frieren: Beyond Journey's End Season 2

Introduction

Following the First-Class Mage Exam, the trio—elven mage Frieren, warrior Stark, and first-class mage Fern—gains access to the dangerous Northern Plateau. As the party presses onward toward Aureole, formidable adversaries force Stark to confront his insecurities, solidifying his resolve and his role as the party's frontliner. Meanwhile, Fern continues to cherish the gifts she has been blessed with throughout her life, each a reminder of those she holds dear. Frieren—still honoring her vow to understand humanity—revisits memories of her journey with the Hero's party and her fleeting encounter with a legendary figure. As she reflects on the passage of time, the elven mage quietly questions whether she has truly changed, yet in the small, almost subtle choices that she makes, there are signs that she might have become more human than she realizes. to me, this was a disappointing follow-up to season 1. it almost felt like a parody at times - many episodes followed the same format: get a request / encounter an obstacle, fight some monsters, have a few sentimental flashbacks, and move on. the whole season felt like one big filler that dragged on for longer than it needed to be. my memory of the manga is fuzzy, so maybe they were just being faithful to the original material. the reason i'm marking this as "mixed feelings" is because i think there are still elements of season 1 that shine through in season 2. the animation is beautiful, soundtrack still holds up, and there are some slower moments that are reminiscent of the pacing of season 1.

Very good. Too bad you need to go through the first season to get there which I still cannot recommend doing. But for someone who already watched the first season - please go ahead, it's a huge improvement. First of all, I want to list my problems with the first season: - weak worldbuilding - inconsistent animation - dry/emotionless characters - weak story Well, the worldbuilding is something you can't really fix at this point, it's still on the same level. But I'm happy to see improvements in everything else. Animation Much more consistent, much higher quality of static backgrounds, way better animation especially during combat compared to first season. Now I can finally say that the animation is on a very high level. Characters Probably the biggest improvement. Fern and Frieren got mu…

This season feels a bit faster paced compared to the first one, but honestly I still really enjoyed it. I especially loved seeing all those northern villages and the different places Frieren and the others travel through. The world feels so much bigger now, and I really like how the journey itself is part of the story. The character interactions are still one of my favorite things too. Even when they're just traveling or having a normal conversation, there's always something I enjoy about watching them together. The fights were also really good, especially seeing how much more capable everyone has become. I don't know how to explain it, but I feel like this season is missing just a little something compared to the first one. Maybe it's because the first season had that slower feeling tha…

I’d say this season felt a bit more boring compared to the first one. In my opinion, the main reason for this is the repetitive formula—endless loops of "kill this monster and I’ll give you this spellbook" or "you can't pass this route without completing this task." On top of that, unlike the previous season, there wasn't a single well-developed side character this time around, with the exception of Genau. While the background music, the chill vibe, and the peaceful, serene atmosphere remain as lovely as ever, the action scenes feel painfully brief and lack real excitement. Across the entire 10 episodes of this season, I only witnessed one genuinely good fight scene. Furthermore, the central premise of the anime is starting to show some logical flaws. From the very beginning, Frieren’s m…

After how great the first season of Frieren: Beyond Journey's End was, how could I miss out on season two? Granted, this season is eighteen episodes shorter than the previous one, probably due to the staff wanting to just get this one arc done and over with before expending their resources on one particular arc that's quite well-liked, which comes next. I admittedly haven't read the parts of the manga that this arc adapts other than a few select early chapters, even though I own digital copies of the volumes that take place after the Mage Exams arc. I need to remedy that. But you know that's not gonna stop me from watching more Frieren on the silver screen. Taking place immediately after the end of the first season, Frieren, Fern, and Stark make their way to the Northern Plateau, were stro…

What was I expecting? A good continuation to this mid ass show?? LOOOOOOOL!!!! That shit did NOT happen. To start off my reviews, I like to mention what my expectations were before starting the show, and I wasn’t expecting too much or for it to be mind blowing or anything. People have said it’s just more of the same shit as the first season, so that’s exactly what I was expecting it to be. Unfortunately, I will say that it’s a pretty fat step down from season 1 in almost every aspect. This season pretty much takes every slop quality that I don’t like about the first season and just amplifies it to a whole new level. The entire season is just a bunch of random side quests slammed together that have absolutely no relation with each other whatsoever. I guess that is part of the entire point o…

I'm going to ramble on ideals. At first, while I thought the animation and fight scenes were similarly good, though not as great as the first season, I had thought that this season didn't have as much emotional impact nor weight as the first season. Frieren straight up cried in the first few episodes of season one. While that may be somewhat true, by the end of this season, I have come to appreciate more subtle but poignant themes of what this series is about, thematically. Yes, the fight scenes, animation, dialogue, writing, direction, and characters are extraordinary as expected, but what specifically struck me was the quiet but present appreciation this show evokes in its audience with regards to a real, earnest adventure with a well-rounded (but not over the top) variety of character…

I think everyone who watches anime knows about this anime and that its very good. I do think its one of the best ongoing fantasy anime right now. And season 2 is a good follow up to season 1, though I liked season 1 more. As in season 1 this season also does a very good job in portraying the difference in lifespan, passage of time between humans and elves or dwarves. As in season 1 the animation is really good. Though one thing did bother me a bit. Frieren likes to buy grimoire and stuff in her journey. I don't get how she is carrying so much things as she moves from town to town. Is she memorizing the grimoire and discarding them? I mostly see them walking on not with a caravan. I recommend it if you liked the 1st season.

I liked this season; it kept the quality of the previous one. However, it was also bizarre; 10 episodes are too few for an anime that takes as long as this one to move its plot forward. This decision made it seem like it barely could qualify as a season, and there was no feeling of closure to it like there was with the previous one. The leisurely pace combined with the scant number of episodes just couldn't avoid that, no matter the individual quality of each of them. It was a little disappointing considering how long it's going to take for the next season to come, but I was still satisfied by the self-contained stories in this one. Frieren has an unmatched ability to tell stories that feel heartfelt and meaningful, and as I said earlier, that quality was as present as it was during the f…

There's not much this season. It's more so building towards season 3. Story wise, it's just back to being episodic, which is one of Frieren's double-edged swords. As it can be just a goto chill, slice-of-life fantasy, there's a chance you'll get bored because of its repetitiveness, while trying to set up what's gonna happen in Season 3. In my opinion, it's still better than 'Delicious in Dungeon' though it's a bad comparison, as the other title has a different idea it's tryna tell and show. Characters are still consistently solid. I can't really say anything bad about that, and since we got through the tournament arc during the first season, i like that we've got more cast to bounce off from now and then, because of that the show feels bigger and heavier. Music is still consistent as we…

Meandering, aimless and uninteresting. A massive drop from season 1, which still had a slow pace but felt like it was actually going somewhere and developing characters. The end goal is the same as the first season but the journey of getting there is a lot more trite. These adventures feel pointless, unnecessary, as if they exist solely to make this journey artificially longer. If future seasons are anything like this one then I don't think there will be a signifacant reason for me to continue watching the show. The action sequences weren't as impressive as the first season either, so if you just wanted visual stimulation and didn't care about the writing, it doesn't even have that going for it.

One of my favorite animes ever but this season felt more like a filler then anything and was weirdly short despite the funding it highlights the issues season 1 had (don't get me wrong season 1 was a masterpiece) but had tis own issues too... season 2 instead of following the great features of season 1 followed the flaws of it I say this is more like a filler episode rather than a season due to the fact that it barely progressed at all the most progression was fern and stark going on a date lol due to my biased of loving this anime I gave it a high rating but if I didn't have rose colored glasses on it realistically would be lower

Some aspects have definitely improved in this season, but it's still not enough to call Frieren a revolutionary masterpiece. The pacing feels more flowed, with a better balance between action, world building and touching moments. Characters have started to show more signs of personal growth and mutual comprehension. Nonetheless, other than the lack of fanservice of the sexual sort —because Frieren does have fanservice, but it's the nice highly welcome moe kind—, there's nothing outstandingly different from other stories mostly focused on personal growth and character interactions. Neither does it bring innovative fantasy lore and world building. Of course, the shortness of the season is a drawback. Frieren is a good, worth-watching series, but two seasons later, it's still stuck in the t…

I think it’s a series that’s enjoyable to watch, with beautiful animation, plenty of scenery, and a great story one you can watch without getting bored. To be honest, I’d have preferred it to be a bit more action packed and have more battles. The battle scenes looked really good, and it’s clear this production could have been a visual feast if they’d gone all out. The battle scenes, which were few to begin with, felt like they ended a bit too quickly to me. It made me wish they’d lasted a little longer. The Dungeons & Dragons vibe was great, but as I said, I’d have liked it to be a bit more action-packed. That’s why I gave it a 7 it’s definitely worth watching, and I’m eagerly awaiting the new season.

I rewatched Season 1 before watching Season 2, and I must say Frieren is still one of the best anime I’ve ever watched. It’s one of the best pieces of entertainment out there. I’m not even sure how to explain it. The entire watching experience just feels… magical. It’s so satisfying. It’s like the feeling you get after achieving something really big, the feeling of accomplishment—that’s the kind of emotion Frieren leaves you with. “It’s what Himmel the Hero would have done.” That line… 🤌🏻 We were introduced to Himmel in the very first episode of Season 1, and he dies in that same episode. Yet somehow, he becomes one of the most influential characters in the entire story. That doesn’t happen often. Every once in a while, an anime gives us a character who genuinely makes you want to b…

Season 2 of Frieren: Beyond Journey's End delivers a familiar yet unique experience compared to Season 1. Every positive aspect of the first season that set the tone of this story is present here again, while also diverging into more depth on side characters that we have either never met yet or seen sparingly so far. It truly feels as not a moment is wasted with this more condensed shorter season. No spoilers for this season, but Season 1's Exam Arc at the end left Stark in a much less involved role to close it out. Season 2 in a way feels as if it could be considered Stark's season. His growth in both combat and relationship to others is very rewarding this season. The Northern Plateau proved to be a very interesting setting as this season covers their journey through it. There was a p…

The second season of Frieren is a lot like the first in the sense that it's not very interesting and I had to constantly ask myself why I was still watching it. Thankfully it's only ten episodes long, which means only half the suffering, so I guess you could say that it might be better than season one. Anyway, the first season ended by establishing what felt like some kind of overarching narrative involving the elf voiced by Killua and all the different mages. Season two immediately discards this hint of a plot and instead is just ten episodes of random shit happening. There's a three episode "arc" in the second half of the season where Frieren and friends go to some random fuckass village to fight demons but it all just feels totally meaningless. Outside of this arc, every episode is spli…

Only watched it cause I have a long commute to work and thought I’d give this “masterpiece” another chance. An elf (level 100), a mage (level 40) and a warrior (level 35) taking level 5-35 side quests. 0 character development - didn’t really expect any from season 1, 0 story - same script for every episode, 0 emotions. Good animation: adding a point and moving it from bad to average. But honestly… I’m sad this anime is considered one of the best these days… maybe I’m just getting old. Standing ovations to killing an enemy with 3 shots saying wow that was crazy, the most difficult battle ever. It should have been a game.

((Review: English - Español)) ** English= I am convinced that Frieren is not like Violet Evergarden, as some people tend to think. They might share a few similarities, but overall, they are very different shows. Frieren is a slice-of-life about self-discovery through the concept of 'retracing one's steps.' Here, it’s not about the action or the battles, but rather the main character's journey of rediscovering herself through the memories she forged with her former party members. If you enjoy that type of story, Frieren is definitely for you—but just so you know, it’s nothing like Violet Evergarden. ** Español= Estoy convencido de que Frieren no es un anime similiar a Violet Evergarden, como algunos suelen pensar. Pueden tener algunas similitudes pero en general, son animes muy diferent…

Virtue signaling: The anime. Really, if you say you dont like this, they treat you like a Solo Leveling fan. Its real harsh out there! Anyway, Frieren is still 90% missing potential. Nice view on the magic system from artisanal (demons and elves) to modern (human institutions) and some oportunity for reflection about elves long lives, sadly everything is wasted on a flashback + tearjerker pattern or just menial chores of the most plain protagonists ive seen on fiction. This season is even worse than the first one mainly because its more of the same exhausted formula, and Genau, the season saviour, only appears like 2 eps. About the "depth" allegations, I think theyre partly true. You could argue the show has emotional depth, as long as you are predisposed to "feel" it (I wasnt. And what…
