Hibike! Euphonium 3

For third-year club president Kumiko Oumae and her friends, it is their last chance before graduation. Filled with anticipation and anxiety, Kumiko worries if she can successfully lead the band. Amid her struggles, Kumiko encounters transfer student Mayu Kuroe. From her gentle demeanor to her talented euphonium skills, Mayu was a member of the Seira Girls' School concert band—a regular at nationals. While Mayu is friendly, Kumiko cannot help but have an indescribable feeling from their meeting. As new members arrive and plans are set in motion, the club, with an insatiable hunger for a gold medal, learns what it truly takes to propel themselves to reach the national level. Hibike! Euphonium Season 3 is a perfect conclusion for one of the best music performance anime in history. The core of this season returns to the topic of Season 2: regrets. Live life without regrets. It also talks about what to do with your life. There’s one interesting question: “Can you imagine yourself not playing the euphonium?” It’s deep. Sometimes we make decisions about what we want, but sometimes we should ask ourselves what we don’t want. “I want to cry out of frustration.” The animation, as is usual from KyoAni, was perfect. I love how all the expressions are so emotive. It has a wide range of expressiveness: frustration, happiness, sadness, fear. The instruments are animated with very high quality, which is one of the great aspects of this anime. Obviously KyoAni is one of the…

I was completely blown away by the leap in quality compared to previous entries; Kyoto Animation’s flawless directorial vision makes this nothing short of a masterpiece of a final season. The visuals are the most breathtaking the series has ever seen, with every scene bursting with vibrant colours and rich detail that practically pops off the screen. Everything, from the nuanced animation and atmospheric cinematography to the effortless voice performances and seamless pacing, is masterfully crafted to completely immerse you in the drama. What I loved most was watching Kumiko grow into a natural leader as club president. Her new role brings out the best in the writing, with so many heartfelt conversations that show just how well-developed and grounded these characters are. Above all, this…

After being bombarded with it on TikTok for several weeks, I decided from my immature and foolish perspective at the time to give this weird girly anime with musical instruments a chance, and holy cow, I wasn’t disappointed. In my opinion, the story just kept getting better and better, and there’s such a wide range of characters you can’t help but love. Meanwhile, our protagonist, Kumiko, goes through such a huge transformation over the years, yet it all feels completely natural. The story reaches its climax at the end, which completely swept me away. Before the series started, I would’ve bet I wouldn’t cry—well, I lost that bet, and on a girls’ music anime, no less. The yuri bait in this series is unbelievable, and the fact that they can’t be together is a crime. Oh, and the soundtrack is…

I loved Hibike Euphonium back in 2017 as season 2 wrapped, and even more once Liz and the Blue Bird released. I love this series very dearly, Liz most of all, but after the fire at Kyoani, it became very painful for me to watch Liz and I gradually lost interest in anime as a whole. After 6 years in 2024 I felt comfortable enough again to watch Kumiko's 2nd year movie, and did walk away disappointed in it. Now in 2026 I watched season 3 for the first time. On first viewing, I would have given this an 8. This is not giving it enough credit though, and so I rewatched all of Hibike Euphonium to discover that season 3 is in fact as incredible as everything that came before it. I adore this series, and I'm happy Kyoani finished it in 2024 with such a beautiful final season.

Would Not Recommend Cons 1. I didn't feel the music. While watching this anime, I never felt any real appreciation for the music, the performances, classical pieces, or anything related to the musical aspect. The only impression I got was that it was a school anime where music happened to exist because the characters were in a club. In other music anime, the musical themes are developed much better, and music feels like the main focus. This was probably the biggest disappointment for me. 2. It was boring. The anime felt like it couldn't decide what it wanted to be. Was it a music anime? A sports-like rivalry anime? Or a slice-of-life series? Other anime at least know what they are trying to be. Because of this lack of direction, it was often unclear what the anime was actually about. I…

The most tedious part is the repetitive use of the same dramatic tropes over and over, and forcing heavy emotional scenes without any logical sense. While many people find it touching, I see it as nothing more than a blatant Plot Device—cramming in drama just for the sake of it. The themes have been recycled since the first season, and even the romance feels half-baked. It’s honestly surprising that this is ranked in the Top 100 on MAL. I could honestly say that if this wasn't the final season, I probably would've dropped it halfway through. It’s not that it’s objectively 'bad,' but there are just so many annoying scenes. The only saving grace is the characters, who were exceptionally well-crafted—but that's only because the light novel was written so well. It sounds a bit harsh, but I fe…

Hibike! Euphonium 3 absolutely demolished me upon watching the final minutes of the last episode without any warning. This season features a different style as opposed to its more musical predecessors, with the main focus being on how Kumiko and her friends deal with being the leaders of the band club that they've been part of for 3 entire emotional years. Assuming this role, it is simply natural that the ins and outs of the club and MCs' responsibilities take up a bulk of the season; after all, we're seeing everything from Kumiko's eyes. Yes, it is upsetting not to get a performance after each arc, but I can ignore this when looking at the effort put into the rest of the production. Taking that into consideration, I believe these 13 episodes are worthy of the attention and love that the…

Having absolutely loved the first two seasons, I can say that this third installment not only meets expectations but soars past them, diving even deeper into the emotional core of what makes this series so special. My admiration for the journey only grows stronger here. The true brilliance of this season is its masterful and intimate focus on character development. We are no longer watching wide-eyed first-years marvel at the concert band world; we are witnessing the bittersweet culmination of their journey. The growth we admired in the first two seasons matures into something even more profound and resonant. Kumiko Oumae : the conductor of her own soul If seasons one and two were about Kumiko learning to hear the feelings of others, season three is about her learning to conduct her own…

It's been months, and I’m still not over this anime, the emotional damage is too much 😭😭😭 First thing I loved was being able to experience the perspective of the third years. I always disliked Haruka’s character as I thought she just lacked so much confidence, was always panicking. But seeing what it’s like to be the president from Kumiko’s perspective, it really made me appreciate Haruka’s characters a lot more. Kumiko takes front and centre as we really get to explore the full depths of her character, from the stress of having to be the president and trying to keep the band together, the stress of maintaining her role as a Euphonist, the stress of her personal relationships and of course the battle with herself and her morals. Kumiko is time and time again forced to choose between…

This was magical. I will always love Hibike. Every single character, every note, every song... god.. I will cherish this anime with my life. The art style was on point. You can see the little details that changed throughout the years and they were wonderful. I actually felt the same way as Kumiko a few years ago, and the way it felt so relatable made me fall in love with this season a lot more. The way every title gave you some idea of what the ep was about, was also something nice! Things were just condensed and developed in an interesting, kind and lovely way.

Bittersweet conclusion to a classic coming of age story trough a female lens. Rock solid characters create palpable tensions over rivalry, separation and hints of yuri. Creates K-On grade emotions, gorgeous 2024 KyoAni animation, direction, and music. This show blends the character development of K-on, the subtle yuri romance of Maria-sama, the ganbatte spirit of Chihayafuru and the character drama tension of Fruits Basket. It achieves this on a rather trivial subject matter, the trials and tribulations of a high school brass orchestra and select individual members. It managed to get me emotionally hooked to both, and it is written well enough that you never know what will happen. Some plans work, some don't, some tough call decisions have to be made, and group dynamics sometimes spread c…

Hibike! Euphonium 3 is the final season of the series, wrapping everything up. More than anything, this review is kind of my way to 'vent' that I finished the show and there is nothing more after this. I'll start this review with how I felt about season 3 individually and I'll end it with my personal letter on how I feel about the series as a whole. This review is spoiler-free (assuming you have watched all previous instalments) so do not worry if you have not watched this season yet. Story: Season 3 in my opinion had a rough start. Knowing that my favorite characters from previous seasons and movies will no longer be shown and that I had to get used to having new band members sucked. Characters that I thought I wouldn't care for kept being introduced and focused on, and I was not attache…

Sound Euphonium 3 is simply one of the best conclusions to a show I've seen. It's not everyday you see the concept of concert band in an anime. In fact, the music genre is really rare let alone a concert band. Like past seasons, the animation is peak quality and the story is written really well. The drama that occurs during Kumiko's third and last year in high school makes me want to continue watching. However, the introduction of Mayu Kuroe to the series degrade my enjoyment of the show. But overall, I love the entire Sound Euphonium series and I believe anyone who is willing to deal with some drama and competition involved would enjoy this series as much as I do. 10/10

I couldn't imagine when I added Hibike! Euphonium in my top ten 10 years ago, that it would hold up so well and keep getting better with each and every season after. Kyoto Animation did such a great job with this anime and I'm forever grateful for it. So our journey with Kumiko and Reina finally have come to an end, in this season, they're third years highschool students now and the burden of leading the Kitauji band to earn gold at the National is heavily put on their shoulders. Could they finally achieve theirs and their senpai's dreams after so many tears and hard works? And what await them in the future? It will all be answered in this wonderful third season. The aspects I love the most in Hibike! Euphonium would always be the characters. Kumiko and Reina both seem to mature quite n…

I don't know if this is the end of the story or if there will be a sequel. But I'm quite happy with Kumiko and her friends' journey until season 3. Considering how they joined this orchestra, to the point where they almost got everything with the various problems that exist. a long journey with reasonable conflicts (I've been involved in a similar music organization, and most of the conflicts presented in this anime are ones I've faced), and this is one of the reasons I really enjoy this anime. But unfortunately, the orchestra performance presented I think is still more climactic in season 2, I understand on the other hand the journey of class 3 needs to be completed in 1 season 13 episodes, but they have to face a lot of competition. So I don't get the performance from the results of t…

Hibike! Euphonium as a series will forever stay dear to me, no other anime could make me emotionally attached like this did. It hurts that I could "only" rate it 7, but there are few issues that are hard to look past and hindered the finale. For the final season KyoAni dropped the ball, it felt like the series lost its identity towards the end. There was barely any music, the bad storylines took priority over interesting ones, the drama could've been better. Objectively it wasn't a bad season but considering that it's part of Hibike! Euphonium it could've been significantly better. It would've been as easy as scoring on an open net, yet they decided to make anime original changes, waste time on the wrong characters. I can't understand the motive behind leaving a gazillion storylines open…

A very long journey has come to an end. To those who aren't aware, Sound Euphonium was one of the shows that made me stop watching anime for a bunch of years. It was mainly due to just being watched during a very difficult time in my life, but I also found myself very shocked that I didn't end up absolutely falling in love with a Kyoto Ani series like I normally would. I finally watched Liz and the Blue Bird last year and it changed my stinkin life. So I was a lot more optimistic going into Season 3. Overall, I think I need to rewatch this entire series someday under a fresh perspective. It's been so long since I saw the first two seasons, but I could still feel that sense of accomplishment for reaching the end of the journey. Both within myself as a viewer and within the characters for ho…

I just really don't understand why they only gave the third and finall year only 13 damn episodes. You'd think they would've learned after the second year movie and the backlash it received. Year 3 still isn't as bad as year 2 but what really makes it so depressing is that the number of episodes really is the core problem. Every arc feelt rushed and most characters lacked the brilliant characterization of year one (which had more than double the episodes to play with). It' still worth a watch for any fan but because of how much I anticipated this third and final year I must say it's probably one of the biggest dissappointments of any animes I've watched.

A stirring piece of life in a high school concert band and the growth of a shy student, concluding with this season. It's a slice of life series with serious scenes of contemplation as various forces in life pull you apart from the things you care about, and what you will do if they're strong enough to stop you. Will you bow to family pressures or stay true to the goals you have? Will your friends stick with you even if you aren't the best person to lead? There's a lot of things to appreciate in this series, from the great roster of characters, the gorgeous Kyoto scenery, the music (obviously), and the questions about self and goals. It comes together for a great total package all within about 13 episodes per season that I highly recommend! The final season in particular deals with fierc…
