The artwork is pretty and colorful. The music is nice: I really enjoyed the opening and a few classical music pieces inserted throughout.
The characters are consistent and each one has a fairly predictable personality.
The story moves quickly and you rarely feel bored.
The reactions of the main character Issei Hyoudou are sometimes hilarious. The girls' reactions are exaggerated and cater to a certain form of fan service: you have to take this anime with a grain of salt to enjoy it, as there is a very strong degree of sexism.
This anime is clearly addressed to males that want boobs, it gives way to multiple fantasms. NSFW

I do think this is an anime everyone should watch at least once (even if it is just season 1), lewdness aside the plot is interesting. I personally found it not-at-all boring, in fact I enjoyed watching it despite being turned off by some of the more ecchi scenes. It definitely ramps up as you watch it, with the first few episodes dragging on but it certainly improves throughout the season. So generally, yes, i think everyone should watch this anime, even if they dont like it and even if they dont watch more.

DxD was really big back in the day, and many people including me think (or, in my case, thought) that it was a particularly good ecchi with sexy characters and scenes. But, truth is, that's not the case, especially when compared to another famous ecchi of the time with a similar name: High School of the Dead.
To put it simply, High School DxD has mediocre, if not bad, art quality. It looks like any other cheap seasonal of the time. Because of this, hardly any scenes or still images (that appear in the middle of episodes) actually look sexy. They mostly look bland when not outright bad because of weird anatomy. Nipples, of which there are plenty, also look odd. This is in huge contrast to the aforementioned High School of the Dead, in which all characters look great, all of the time.

I feel like this series has always kind of had this reputation as THE, like, not necessarily premiere per se but the most prevalent gooner anime. I don't want to say the 2 Girls 1 Cup of anime because that's obviously Boku no Pico but something similar to that... rarefied air.
So when one of my friends gave it to me for Secret Santa, I was a little curious as to what exactly this show would have in store for me.

High School DxD deserves a 10/10 for the art and fan service alone, but it doesn’t stop there. Every character gets their chance in the spotlight with their consistent personalities that react mostly as expected. DxD is able to integrate fighting, drama, sorrow, and humor into a well paced episode every time. The voice acting is extremely high quality as well.
The only downside is the plot becomes somewhat repetitive and predictable, but it’s like your favorite dessert. You know what to expect and it delivers, and sometimes it mixes in new elements that create a whole new flavor. I hope they continue to make more seasons in the future as it’s influence has defined the genre.

So I finally finished High School DxD and honestly… it was okay. I didn’t hate it, but I didn’t love it either. I watched it because I saw it’s kind of popular and people talk about it a lot, so I was curious. I thought maybe there’s something deeper behind the fanservice... but yeah, most of it wasn’t really my style.
For like the first 6 episodes (or maybe more), it felt like it was mostly about a pervy guy who only thinks about boobs. 😅 Issei is always yelling about wanting a harem and boobs, and it got kinda annoying to be honest. At face value, yes, it’s ecchi-heavy and packed with fan service, but underneath the bouncing physics and demon waifus is a surprisingly fun supernatural action story with solid pacing and a likable (if very pervy) protagonist. Issei's journey from a powerless human to a devil with unique powers is filled with absurd humor, intense battles, and a growing cast of memorable characters—each with their own quirks and motivations.

There is a reason this is on the Mt. Rushmore of animes. Rock hard and full of post-nut clarity faces. Actually being realistic, I think everyone should watch this just so we can grow closer as a community by fighting over which girl is the best. The story is boring, the fights are short but there is enough panty shots to keep me interested every episode and the dub voice acting genuinely made me laugh. The sub is stacked with a lot of great talent but something about hearing how big someones breasts are in english really gets me going. Not only that but when certain characters finally show emotion, I won't lie, I giggle and squirm in my seat. Watch the first season then stop. No reason to go any further :)

Highschool DXD I unironically watch this show for the plot. The nudity is pretty mid it only adds to it when Issei is being a pervert. I would not watch it in censored though they censor it in a way that's annoying and distracting. The dub in my opinion is better just because its funny it's like the ghost stories dub, but unlike ghost stories Highschool DXD is not boring. The only complaint I do have about the dub is Koneko's actor is not even trying its very annoying how monotone the voice is. Overall you should only watch it if your really bored and have nothing else to watch or you like breasts.

High School DxD aged like fine wine. Have watched this a year ago and still feel invested into the series and rewatching the entire anime for the 5th time as of writing this review. Fantastic anime/series for anyone watching even after over a decade after its release. I can (almost) promise you, you will be heavily invested into DXD, meshed perfectly well with romance, ecchi and comedy.
The story leaves no confusions and gets straight to the point, the animation is still good and holds up to this day despite more professionally drawn anime being produced as of writing this review. Art style is still pleasing to the eye, and so are the characters. I wish MAL had it set up to simply select whether or not I personally liked something as opposed to whether or not I'd recommend it to others because with this genre in particular, noting in this case that there are uncensored breasts in literally every single episode and unapologetic, unrelenting sexual references, lewd scenarios, and perverted humor this is OBVIOUSLY not for everyone and you should use your own discretion as to whether or not this might be your cup of tea. Personally, I quite like this genre and have had a really good track record with it.
