She Professed Herself Pupil of the Wise Man

She Professed Herself Pupil of the Wise Man

Introduction

With a dignified veteran's body and a long white beard, summoner mage Dunbalf was one of the strongest player characters in the virtual reality online multiplayer roleplaying game Ark Earth Online, even heralded as a one-man army. Together with the "Nine Wise Mages" and King Solomon, they formed the mage player Kingdom of Alcait. But one day, Dunbalf and the other Nine Wise Mages suddenly go missing, leaving no trace behind. In an effort to spend his expiring credits, Dunbalf had purchased a cosmetic kit and tinkered with his character; however, he accidentally fell asleep during the customization process. Upon waking up, Dunbalf not only notices that the world of Ark Earth Online has become more realistic, but also discovers that he has turned into a cute girl! After reaching Alcait, he learns it has been 30 years since he supposedly disappeared. Now tasked with finding the other missing mages by King Solomon, the avid role player proclaims his new identity as Mira—the Pupil of the Wise Man Dunbalf—and ventures forth to prove his legacy. A story about a people being transported in a VRMMORPG that they were playing for quite some time, a game which was the kind where anything could happen if players found the way to do it. To be honest, this anime is not that good, it's mediocre at best, with shitty CGI fights and lot of skipped content and unanswered questions, even basic ones, that just take away from the overall experience. This anime truly felt like just an ad for the source material... But I lowkey enjoyed it. It made me curious about the light novels and to see more of that world, as everything it showed made me think that this story has a big and good worldbuilding, and because the story goes more on the way of the MC/FMC (whatever you want to call it, it's a gender bent from male to female MC) going on adventures…

A basically interesting storyline that is poorly executed. The anime begins by not explaining to the viewer what actually happened. In episode 1 he is the Wise Man and towards the end you only see the girl waking up in the grass and making her way ‘back’. One wonders whether he has been transferred into the world? But she doesn't seem to worry about it. There is also no ‘logging out’ and if you are in a VMMORPG, why do you have to sleep, drink/eat or go to the toilet at all. In the same way, the 30-year period raises questions. Is that 30 years rl or ig? What relevance does this time period have and why are the other sages shown as online but are not accessible? - Actually, no interesting questions are really answered. This is rounded off by the faulty animation. There are a few places…

Another fine example why "Studio A-CAT" should just cease to exist. However i rather have them stay around so they dont taint other studios that actually manage to make something consistent and linear instead of butchering the material. Sadly the cost of keeping them around is that some simple fun little stories get mangled adaptations while they have more potential even if you want to make a budget show. I have not even read the material but could tell that there are so many cuts it would make people in self harm groups jealous.... As far as ive seen anime adapts 4 Light novel volumes into 12 episodes which is already a red flag considering usually its 12/13 episodes per 2 LN volumes.... My god episode 1 was just tragic, last 5 minutes gives you a 1890's cinema experience with some "wh…

This is a forgettable but fun anime. It's like Land of Leadale with the VRMMO setting and overpowered protagonist who develops a close network on this game they're trapped in. The plot is largely irrelevant but it's simple, fun trash that I highly recommend for those who like relaxing shows, or something simple while your tired and laying on the sofa because you don't have the energy for anything else. No prizes for guessing which category I was in. If you like mid-tier Isekai that's designed to be simple relaxing fun with no romance nonsense or edgelord garbage then this is for you. Bofuri is the top-tier example for this kind of show, and while this isn't up to that standard it is fun and I really enjoyed all the characters you meet along the journey. There really isn't a lot more to sa…

The player spent time and resources building one of the most powerful characters, based on his two favorite movie wizards, in a VRMMO that allows users to affect the world. He plays a very venerable and dignified summoner, and stays in character as much as possible. Just to use it before he losses it, he plays with an online vanity box and changes his avatar to a cute little girl. Then he falls asleep before he can change it back. The player wakes up to find he is his character with the new vanity changes and 30 years in the future (giant shock). The "game" is real; she can smell and taste food and even has to pee. Another shock is that the NPCs have developed personalities and complex lives that seem almost indistinguishable from players. She/he is fortunate that she retains the charact…

So I watched five episodes and wrote this review. Now I've seen all of it and while I at first I thought that writing a review after only seeing five episodes that perhaps it was a bit early to make a review of the series I have retained most of the old one. Why is that, you ask? Well... -- Story & Writing The premise is pretty good and has the quality of being the kind of premise you can do quite a lot with. Not much is actually done with it, however. The writing is cookie cutter and bland with a bunch of the usual tropes. Not enough to be off putting, but also not enough to be engaging. Most of the time we either see characters talking about things that don't really further the plot or build upon relationships in any interesting way or we see the main character using powerful magic and…

Why am I even reviewing this? I have to say that this is a prime example of one of the worst shows I have ever seen to this day, and I purposely watch shows that are the lowest rated on MAL from time to time. First I’ll go over the one redeeming factor for this entire show. The main character is cute, and they make a point to force the story to dress her up in as many ways as they can in a short timeframe. Outside of that, I cannot think of a single thing that someone would really enjoy about it. If you like power fantasies then this might work out, but you also require other perspectives to enjoy it too: 1. Ignoring terrible cgi and horrible fights that reuse nameless monsters 2. Don’t mind lack of characterization and 1-dimensional stock characters everywhere 3. Watching the epitome of…

I'm not sure why there are so many abysmal reviews here on MAL. I thought it was a wholesome enjoyable little series. Fun to watch and easily bingeable. I do wish they'd made somewhat of a bigger deal about everyone being trapped in the isekai world, not being to log out, what's surely happened to their bodies in 30 years, and so on. Those facts are utterly glossed over and all but ignored. And I don't really like that. That aside, it was an enjoyable watch. Though expect somewhat more of a wholesome entertaining experience like Bofuri rather than something hardcore and super serious like Overlord. I can understand why some people complain, as not a whole lot happens if you're looking for X and Y major plot points and resolutions and such. It's somewhat more of an adventure, and still v…

Story (3): "A powerful magician after mysteriously disappearing becomes a cute magician, who is still powerful. Now she has to search for her missing companions all over the world." You see, this sounds like the short description of the anime, but in truth the story revolves around this narrative with vague arguments about what happens or what happened. Don't expect there to be any more plot development than this. Art (8): The design of the world, the characters and in general the visual aspects I liked a lot. Although there will come times when you will think that the plot really does not match the level of animation. Sound (7): The voice actors do it well, their roles are understood and the background music conveys the emotion of the situations. Characters (6): I can't say they're mem…

Disclaimer: This being my first review there may be a few things that may be wrong and a lot of my views may not be unbiased and just on facts. Review: Overall thoughts: This anime is mediocre at best but it is not painful to watch. nor is it just straight-up bad. It is clearly a low-budget anime that more than likely is gonna be used more as an advertisement for the manga. There is absolutely no tension, some mystery elements that are poorly done, and at least some comedy elements thrown in that are also very poorly done and never really hit the mark. That being said it is also the type of anime that you can just watch in an afternoon and be fine with it. It is isekai trash basically that never delves deeply into any theme and thus kinda sucks at what makes any story compelling or eve…

Seeing all of these negative reviews, I just want to defend this show a little bit. This won't be a full review, more just a bit of a suggestion for who might want to watch this show. The long story short is that you might as well watch the first episode. There is no need for a 3-episode test on this series. If you actually enjoy the first episode, then I think that guarantees that you'll like the show. If you don't, then I can't predict how much enjoyment you'll eke out of the show, but no point wasting your time on a "maybe", so I say in that case you should skip this show. Now, with that litmus test out of the way, what can I actually say about the show itself? First off, it is clearly low budget. If you are offended by still frames and CGI, then avoid this series by all means. If you…

Now before my review, I had no expectations in finishing this anime, I had in mind to drop it after watching the 3rd episode. When watching the first episode I was practically sure that I would drop this anime after not even watching the 3rd episode. Now let's talk about the story that will probably lead to all other important topics, the story is kinda generic in the scene, and you've probably seen this somehow, there's nothing big about the story itself, if you're trying to watch something original, you'll probably dislike it. Somehow I liked the anime, and why?! because of Mira/Dunbalf of course, the whole anime is suposed to of course focus in one character itself, as it is the main character, I can say that clearly after watching the anime (I might be wrong, but that's what they act…

TLDR: The plot on paper is good the execution is shoddy. Still enjoyable to me as I am easy to please but don't expect any uber attention grabbing moments. Lacks seriousness, but very light-hearted if that's what you like. I think the whole premise of the story is interesting and intriguing on paper. You suddenly wake up in the video game you love not knowing when or why it happened, yet 30 years have passed and another friend of yours who plays was waiting for you the whole time. On top of which the other 7 players that you used to play with are missing which you have to find is another interesting storyline as well. These two separate storylines could be cohesive as finding more players not just the seven could lead to info about what happened and how everyone started living and breat…

Well, here's an anime that has caused some contention, but it's easy to see why. Our protagonist is gender-switched into becoming a loli, it's a comedy so much of the humour can be hit or miss, the main character is overpowered (to be fair, all player characters are overpowered) it's a 'trapped in a game' / isekai type What I like about this anime is that it has 'personality' there are a lot of anime that are generic, and don't do enough to try and stand out. This takes it's concepts, it's ideas, understands that they are dumb, but then runs with them. It doesn't try to be smart, it doesn't try to take itself seriously, and as such you can have fun watching this. I will say, if I have one big issue with this, then it's the CGI, I assume it was a cost saving thing to have all the monster…

When the anime started in its first episode it really caught my attention, its chilling with its unique sense of using background music its quite fun. However, when it reach the moment when they enter into the new world it kind of a let down, because I thought Dunbalf would be the only one who would be transported, I was not expecting that...... them would also actually be (i put dot because prevent spoiler ;) ). The reason I find this part let down because I am worried that its gonna diminish the MC effect meaning the OPness display of our precious MC. I didnt give up on the anime and decided to tag along longer with this anime. What was ahead really pique my interest. They are able to present the OPness of the MC really really well despite of all those ...... that also got transported. T…

If you have seen this studio's track record you will know the quality of this anime from the get go. It's not good. The premise of being in a game, throw it out because it doesn't matter that much anyways. Also throw out the fact the MC changed gender. It's at best a gimmick for 2-3 episodes. Supposedly, the first episode is the most important part of any show because this is the time where you get the most eyes and this anime fails hard at that. It is the worst first episode I've seen. The setup is way too fast, then there's this fight of one bad CGI army and another bad CGI army then ends with a montage which seems like they ran out of budget. I will say, this gets better as it airs but a ton of people probably have checked out of this after that terrible first impression but it does…

There are standouts in every season. Good shows that faithfully adapt their source material or deliver on a concept. On the other hand, there are bad shows, incoherent messes or poor adaptations that blatantly serve as an advertisement for their source material. Then there are shows like Kenja no Deshi wo Nanoru Kenja. Kenja no Deshi wo Nanoru Kenja (I will be referring to it as Double Kenja from now on) is neither a good or a bad show. Rather, it’s one of the many shows that air every season that barely leaves an impression and is forgotten as soon as it finishes airing. That is Double Kenja’s biggest problem, it is neither good nor bad enough to stand out among an increasingly crowded field of mediocre shows, which makes reviewing it difficult. But one can try. Double Kenja stars Dun…

Just finished watching Kenja no Deshi and... ART Honestly, the animation was terrible and could've improved if they at least used decent CGI on the monsters and fight scenes. I get that CGI is used frequently on anime but they could've at least used CGI in a good way. But character designs were at least decent so I give art a 4/10/ MUSIC The music was the common and average fantasy music so I give that a 5. STORY I would've given the story an 8 if the isekai part was explained decently and if some parts were not confusing so I give the story a 7 since I still enjoyed watching. CHARACTERS I give the characters a 6 coz they're not terrible... but I don't get that impulse to love them like other anime like maybe Maid Dragon or Love is War. OVERALL Overall, I think this anime should get…

Alot of people said that this series have a bad CGI, generic plot and bad anime adaptation(compared with manga or LN). Frankly speaking I've found myself fell in love with this series. The plot doesn't feel generic to me unlike the other people, it's pretty interesting. Of course the plot is overlap with other anime series such as Log Horizon where the player entered inside the game world and experience the changes happened between the game and reality. The TS part also very appeal to me, of course I don't mind if the MC avatar stays the same but it would've been more pleasing to the eye to see a girl as the MC. Unlike Shoujo Senki, this series shows more fanservice and the plot is not that heavy to consume even though the plot is on a war world scale but it's very lightweight so I always…

I really wanted to like this show, I seriously did, it was however just plain bad. Animation quality was fairly low effort, lots of CG for the monaters and summoned beasts, overall it would be passable if other elements of the show had come together better. The scenerey and background art was often times very awkward and generic. There was never a moment in the show where I thought the art was particularly good. The character design and art were ok, fairly straightforward adaptations from the manga. Mira in particular has a character design that I still really love, though sometimes they would randomly give her a different hairstyle that didn't quite work with the design or seeked out of character or out of place. Overall passable but not outstanding. The music and sound design could h…
