Made in Abyss Movie 3: Fukaki Tamashii no Reimei

Made in Abyss Movie 3: Fukaki Tamashii no Reimei

Introduction

After bonding over a tragic loss, the long-suffering Nanachi joins Riko and Reg on their journey into the depths of the Abyss. Awaiting the children is the Sea of Corpses—the Abyss's fifth layer, and the deepest level from which a traveler can return without losing their human form. The masked sadist Bondrewd stands between the children and the rest of their adventure. Bondrewd's horrific laboratory serves as a final checkpoint for those wishing to traverse deeper into the Abyss, and the sociopathic scientist has no desire to allow Riko's party to pass through at no cost. Deeply scarred by Bondrewd's impact on their childhood, Nanachi is engulfed in turmoil over his resurgence in their life. Bondrewd's only apparent weakness is Prushka, a brash child who claims to be his daughter. Riko, Reg, and Nanachi befriend Prushka and work with the girl to overcome her father's machinations and breach the Abyss's sixth layer. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

This movie is 10/10 for a series without this movie I'll say a 5/10 This movie elevates everything up until this point majorly. Great character, music, fights, writing in general. If you can stomach going through the first 2 movies if you watch movies, or the 1st season in made in abyss this is an excellent watch. With this movie Ill elevate the entire series to a 7/10 up until this point. Once you watch the movie I think "you know who" is one of the most compelling characters in anime and steals the stage every time they speak. This movie reminds me of avatar, with the blue people not the airbender

Just like the first season, this movie is disturbing, arguably more disturbing. The stuff Bondrewd is doing down there might be worse than the Stein. Pros: I'm not gonna go into detail about the overall production and composition of this movie, as it's almost identical to the first season's. It delivers an engaging and genuinely emotional story, making full use of its runtime. It feels like a true second "season" rather than a side story, which can be rare for anime movies. Also, the music is heavenly. Cons: Like the first season, this movie has some more of "that" fan service. It wasn't as bad, but Pruschka should not have all that. And I swear they made Mitty's bigger or more prominent even though she's younger than Pruschka -.- In the first season, Riko was damn near useless. But in…

(Originally written on 2025/06/15, the day I finished watching this movie) (Actual score - 9.25/10) Overall, I had a pretty good time watching it, although it was a different experience than the 1st season. ARTSTYLE - Everything was as good as in the 1st season, but with the addition of another style - a more "hand drawn" presentation, with multiple moving elements that seemed to be going on top of one another: although, the only times I've seen this particular artstyle in this movie was during action-packed moments, with a lot of fast and/or complex movement. I liked it. DESIGNS - The core of what made me enjoy it so much from the 1st season remained, but there was less variety in terms of how environments, buildings, chars, flora & fauna, etc. looked like. It didn't bother me that m…

well if you’ve seen the first season this is just more child abuse fetish, now with a character with boobs and a cute design and an actual father, you can enjoy their completely comfortable interactions that are so wholesome. stuff happens, it’s an action anime, beat the most evil guy ever! and more children suffering, like a lot of them this round. i watched because i’m curious about this gd hole. the art is good, like the first season, good fight scenes, characters are also the exact same from the first season, as in they don’t change or grow after All That.

The movie is where the anime becomes even more PEAK. It really has everything to offer from emotional scenes to action packed fighting. Riko, Reg, and Nanachi are lovable main characters and they have their own set of unique personalities. The music and story telling is amazing, it's not possible to get bored watching this as it immerses you into the story. The antagonist of the arc, Bondrewd, is such a fascinating character. He will do anything to uncover the mysteries of the Abyss. Even if it meant experimenting on children. Overall, definitely give this movie a try if you want to bawl your eyes out.

Peak storytelling with peak character growth. This story hits you in a place many men avoid saying out loud. You follow a man who fills the hole in his heart by raising a daughter in a world that crushes everyone. You watch him step into a role that feels like a cure for male loneliness, the kind that turns him into a single father figure who protects without fear. She loves him. He loves her. Their bond drives the whole arc forward. The Abyss shows no mercy. The danger forces them to act with purpose. Every scene pushes their relationship deeper. You see trust. You see sacrifice. You see a connection that grows stronger under pressure. This is where Made in Abyss hits the highest point for me. The events in Idofront raise the story above most series. The direction is sharp. The pacing n…

Made in Abyss: Dawn of the Deep Soul is where things start to go south, the story is paced oddly, some important things are left unexplained, the mysterious allure of the abyss is not as interesting as in the beginning, weak world-building, some character decisions are stressing and questionable, and the end is unsatisfying. I believe this could be fixed by making this movie longer format to explain and pace things better while also shortening some of the unnecessarily extended scenes. Most importantly, while in the first season the sexualization of characters could be brushed off as the culture being odd and our characters being innocent, here we can start to notice a heavier push towards sexualizing children, and it is only going to get much worse in the following season.

(Like super minor spoiler technically) I don’t really know what I just watched… Season 1 of Made in Abyss is amazing, I love the pacing, the stakes and just overall how the season presented itself. Coming into this film my expectations are very high and lets just say they were not met. Fighting against a white whistle you expect there to be a little bit more caution but instead so many unrealistic moments occur. Firstly SLEEPING in the enemies base and not expecting anything to happen is actually crazy, Prushka’s character was a nice addition but I think they really sped up her dynamic with Riko in order to have the story make sense and so I didn’t feel all that connected to her character which is my main issue with the film (in other words bad character development). Bondrewd was suc…

If you liked the first season this is just kinda more of it, but the pacing, animation, music and all that is better. Like the first season this is pretty basic surface level in terms of story and character, so if you didn't love the first season feel free not to watch this, it's not going to blow your socks off and make you change your mind or anything. Stuff is resolved, not much gets actually introduced, it kinda feels bordering on like a side story. Like with the expection of 30 minutes of this movie, this could prolly be like a typical non-canon shonen movie. Honestly this feels like a shonen anime a lot more than the first season too. The worldbuilding is even more barely existent here as it is with the first season cause it's a self contained about the story movie, so it BREEZES t…

Great continuation of the series, brings the main elements of the anime in a movie even though having less time, mantaining the animation and audio quality. The soundtrack is superb as is the same as the anime released in 2017. If you've enjoyed the 1st season of Made In Abyss and is still thinking wether to continue, give this movie a chance. The story is as intriguing as it was, not straying even a little from the plot line is has been following. One of the most envolving histories created, the saga continues as if only the tip of the iceberg has been uncovered, with pelnty of symbolism and intriguing plot, manipulating the viewer with a sense of surprise everytime. It retains the viewer not only by being interesting ,but also by giving a sense that their journey is still ongoing and mo…

A great conclusion to season 1 of the anime(even though this is marked as a sequel) In my review of season 1 I gave it a 7 due to a few issues, but I feel a lot of that was corrected in this movie as they used the season 1 as an introductory of sorts. Animation 9/10 Animation is crisp and fluid following up on a strong showing in season 1 Music 10/10 Probably the best aspect of the series is the music. It gives Horizon Zero Dawn vibes at times and elevates scenes that might be 'good' into 'great' Characters 9/10 (Hero and Villain) In anime these days, a lot of villains are given backstory for you to empathize with them and none are 'truly' evil. The villain in this one has no redeeming qualities though and is just straight up evil narcissism. So you can hate him totally and feel no re…

Big eye children in Horrible Underworld This movie is in my favourite genres horrible things happening to cute things. It's just such a vibe. Just like limbo the video game. And the movie looks wonderfully it's so nice seeing that TV staff getting to use all of their animation prowess now that it is a movie. It looks beautiful the backgrounds are still gorgeous and the animation is just superb now. The story is nice and dark and twist it and hopefully s***. I feel horrible looking at what is happening to the children and I am just like this is still entertaining. It's still fun even if the horrible stuff is happening. I am horrified and entertained at the same time. And it has a nice movie pacing to it. It didn't feel too long just the right amount of length. I am happy. They made it a…

This has everything i wish the first season had, Although i still enjoyed the first season this movie just feels more interesting, the characters arent acting dumb anymore, their main goal is survival. They understand the hardness of their surroundings and need to get out alive. Bodrew is one of the craziest most messed up villains with an insane motif. The shit he does is just gross to think about but he never gets boring as a villain and can see his sincere side a bit in this. Art - 10/10 The animation is stunning, every frame looks beautiful, and they really experimented with more character design changes particularly in the fight scenes (iykyk) Art is just phenomenal all around. Characters - 8/10 i liked every character more than i did in season 1, but there is still just something…

This is a very messed up movie. No spoilers but it's very messed up. Prepare to cry. The movie takes place after the end of the first season and it follows Riko, Reg and their new companion Nanichi as they travel to the 5th layer and onto the 6th It's one giant episode basically and serves as the opening to the 2nd season and end of the 1st. They come across the enigmatic and eccentric Bondrewd, a mad scientist who seeks to unlock the secrets of the abyss and to enter the 6th layer you must go though him. I really can't put into words just how dark and twisted this movie is without spoiling it. You're going to cry a lot. And I mean a lot. But if you're a Made In Abyss fan, it needs to be watched. You cannot watch the 2nd season without watching this. It has beautiful anima…

Let me just preface this with that watching this, if you haven't seen from season 1, is not for the faint of heart. The mix of childlike wonder, adventure, innocence and curiosity, in stark contrast with some of the most grotesque and gruesome bits of gore I've ever seen on that very same innocence, mixed with an abundance of deep worldbuilding, creativity, and immersion, it is beyond words. Definitely would not recommend if the, for some, seemingly unnecessary suffering and beyond extreme treatment of completely innocent children is too much of a discomfort; but accepting that, is to accept and surrender yourself to the abyss and the greater adventure. Definitely a lot of shock gore, and blatant child nudity, so be prepared for that. Brondrewd makes for a very interesting and peculiar sc…

If you're reading reviews for movie 3, you've seen season 1. Season 1 progressively got dark and disturbing whereas this movie has disgusting things quite often. People won't recommend this anime for that exact reason, the story doesn't give any of the young characters plot armor and they witness depraved acts that nobody should witness. Many have said this series does not hold any punches and they UNDERexaggerate, one must be ready for that. This movie continues the story of Riko, Reg, and Nanichi going into the 5th layer so unlike the first 2 movies, this is important to watch and they meet the character Bondrewd who is an antivillain which aren't used that much in media. It's very neat, he's a dad with so much love to give! But, yeah, Ozen was on to something when she warned them about…

Although I still enjoyed the movie, I feel it lost much of the tone of the first season and focused too heavily on action and flashy fights. The thing that made the first season so compelling was the gradual decent into the unknown abyss and the slow understanding of Reg's power. Now he's just pulling new powers of out of his ass left and right and I feel like I'm just watch dragon ball z. Not that I'm not into that kind of thing, I just feel like it's not a fit for the tone of this show. Also, I know Prushka is meant to be a super important character in the story, but I just can't bring myself to care about her in an hour. We already have a character that has been tortured and mistreated by Bondrewd, it's Nanachi. Should have made her the center of the story. 7/10

I liked the story but WOW some scenes were quite uncomfortable or incredibly disturbing. Felt like I was watching something illegal at points. Yes it was that bad. I'm so conflicted too, it was such a good story but HOLY COW bro I feel a little traumatized. For context, it was way worse than some of the other scenes in the first season. And for that reason I can't really recommend it to anyone in good faith but I know some people will appreciate the undelying story. There really isn't much else to say without getting into spoilers but, you'll like it if you want to continue the grim story of the anime but if the first season already has you reconsidering this show this movie is your answer. Don't watch it.

It takes place between seasons 1 and 2 and chronicles the expedition of three young adventurers: Riko, an orphan; Reg, a half-robot boy; and Nanachi, a human-rabbit hybrid, as they journey into the fifth layer of the Abyss. This world is full of wonders but also a horror show of terrors. The Abyss is home to a variety of strange creatures, plant life, and other wonders, many of which are deadly predators. Along the way, our heroes discover magical artifacts left behind by an enigmatic civilization, leading to bizarre science-fiction plot lines with a thick slice of demented horror. The movie is unsuitable for the faint of heart, featuring plenty of battle, action sequences, and gore. The horror is primarily focused on young children, which can be even more disturbing. The plot revolves ar…

"Made in Abyss Movie 3: Dawn of the Deep Soul" continues the compelling and immersive storytelling that fans of the series have come to love.
