Colorful Stage! The Movie: A Miku Who Can't Sing

Colorful Stage! The Movie: A Miku Who Can't Sing

Introduction

At a CD store, Ichika Hoshino hears a song by Miku that she has never heard before. On the monitor, she sees a "Hatsune Miku" in a form she has never seen before, and couldn't help say it out loud, "Miku!?" Miku was surprised at the voice, her eyes meet Ichika's, but she disappears shortly after. Later, after a live performance on the street, the Miku that Ichika saw before appears on her smartphone. Miku looks sad and downcast, and when Ichika quietly asks Miku about her story, she tells Ichika that there are people to whom she wants to deliver her songs, but no matter how much she sings, her songs are not reaching them. Miku, who saw Ichika singing to the hearts of many people at her live performances, thought that if she learns more about Ichika, she can do the same, and came to Ichika. Ichika smiles at Miku and says, "If it's all right with me." And a new story of Hatsune Miku and the boys and girls begins—. (Source: Crunchyroll)

I'm gonna start with the bad and end with the good. This movie had a bit of a rocky start. It felt confusing to try and keep track of 16 different characters split up among 4 friend groups. I understand that they were there, more to showcase how Miku's music affected different kinds of people in different ways, rather than being their own fleshed out characters, but it still felt a bit messy, and hard to follow until maybe about 45 minutes in. In addition to this, the movie started with a very simple premise that made me worry that this was going to be the kind of kids movie that lacks any substance. It was probably a good third of the movie that focused on just teaching Miku how to sing. As the plot developed, though, much more became elaborated upon and I felt like I could see the visi…

The Project Sekai movie is a good movie IF you're a fan of the PJSK game. The story is focused on the cast of the games rather than Miku, which is good if you're a fan of the games like me! However, since it features the entire cast of 20 main characters, they don't have much time to flesh them out in the less than 2-hour runtime they have. This means they rely heavily on you having previous knowledge of the characters, as they don't give them proper and full introductions. If you do play the games or know the characters, this story is quite fun, albeit it has a lot of missed potential due to the previously mentioned lack of character depth. Although it does include every character, no matter who your favourite is, they'll get some screen time for you to enjoy! The songs are also amazi…

When people talk about digital creativity, internet culture, and the way technology can evolve into something deeply human, one name inevitably appears in that conversation: Hatsune Miku. Born from the voice synthesis software Vocaloid and developed by Crypton Future Media, she started as nothing more than a digital voicebank released in 2007. Yet somehow, through the passion of countless creators across the internet, she grew into something far greater than anyone could have imagined. Hatsune Miku is not simply a character, nor just a virtual idol. She is the embodiment of a collaborative culture where music, art, and imagination merge into a shared creative universe. Unlike traditional singers whose identities are shaped by record labels or a fixed artistic direction, Miku evolved throug…

Guys this is NOT a MIKU movie, it's a PROJECT SEKAI movie 😭 It's literally in the title!! I'm saying this because on TikTok, a lot of people were saying they were disappointed about the fact that it wasn't centered on Miku, which first, I think is wrong, the movie is pretty much centered around her, it's just not ONLY about her, and second, the movie's title literal first words are project sekai, although it also says "a Miku who can't sing". (Sorry if my vocabulary is very limited I'm not that good with English) Anyways, this movie was good, the songs are fire and I think you can enjoy it even if you don't know anything about project SEKAI. Peace!^^

Let's be real. Only pjsekai fans are glazing this crap cuz it's an animation of their favorite game. I mean, I can't blame them. As a long time fan of the game, I too am happy that we got a whole film. But objectively speaking, it's bad. Not really really bad, but bad. Plot is pretty bad, the characters felt like cardboard cutouts (Which makes sense given there were 20 of them, but still), music was good but Pjsekai is a rithym game so that's a given and animation was acceptable. The most wasted part is certainly the designs. They made such beautiful and good looking clothes (Except for Shizuku, but her og dress is so good I don't mind) and they did nothing with them. At least give us those in the game? I also don't get why make an original movie? Why not make an anime? Even a simple s…

I am not the best to write stuff However I can describe the experience after watching the movie. I've only recently watched the full movie, and it has ignited a flame that started last year, with gasoline so to speak xD In other words, it gave me hope, joy, sadness and all in between feelings that one can experience. Yet the movie taught so much more perspective of Miku, even if I knew how Miku struggled to gain reputation back in 2008. However the movie showed exactly how Miku is currently, showing everyone music and connecting everyone. In the end, the Vocaloid community and Hatsune Miku herself has somehow reached me in the perfect time back in 2015/16/17 where I was at my lowest, yet only last year did I realize who saved me life with they music. I wish that I knew sooner to tell thos…

It has Miku in it... what else can one want? Character: Miku. I don’t remember anyone else. If there were other characters, they existed to stand near Miku and remind me that Miku was there. Art: Miku looked beautiful. Backgrounds? Didn’t notice. Cinematography? Irrelevant. As long as Miku was drawn, the art succeeded. Sound: Miku sounded beautiful. I don’t know what genre the music was. I just know Miku was involved and that was enough. If Miku whispered, I listened. Story: Something happened. Then Miku happened. I think there was a problem and then Miku existed and that solved it (emotionally, at least). Enjoyment: Every Miku screentime. Less Miku = less enjoyment. More Miku = cinema. Overall: Absolute Miku.

Kitto todoku hazu Kitto mieru hazu Sonna atte mitai mirai o Boku wa hitori kiri no sekai de Zutto sō utatteta As a die-hard Hatsune Miku fan who hasn't played Project Sekai, I can confidently say you don't need any prior game experience to understand the movie. However, being familiar with it will undoubtedly enhance your viewing. The film is deeply connected to the VOCALOID universe, specifically the Project Sekai world. While I primarily watched it for Miku, this movie serves as a perfect introduction for those new to either franchise. It smoothly explains the core concepts of Project Sekai, touches on VOCALOID, and weaves a story that complements the themes of both. Now, for my spoiler-free review: This movie is a masterpiece and a significant piece of anime cinema. From an outsider…

"Colorful Stage! The Movie: A Miku Who Can't Sing" is almost as unnecessary of a movie as the length of the title. The game that this movie is based on, "Hatsune Miku, Colorful Stage!" (or "Project Sekai" in Japan) has 5 excellent stories of 5 musical groups (Leo/Need, More More Jump!, Vivid Bad Squal, Wonderlands x Showtime, and Nightcord at 25:00), with each group having exactly 4 members. Each one of these 5 stories would take at least 2 hours each to go through all of the main story events to know who everyone is and why they are important. Since this movie needs to stay under 2 hours, it decided to make it's own separate generic story that just happens to include these 20 characters from the game. The only really good part about this movie is that they finally have the animation budg…

Look, I gave it a 10 based on enjoyment. I’ve been an avid player for a while and got to see it in theaters with a friend. Genuinely best movie theater experience I’ve ever had. The music was great, the plot (while somewhat simplistic and not very subtle) was wonderfully executed, it was emotional, and more then anything felt like such a love letter to vocaloid which I really appreciated. All the little references to producers or songs made me so excited, and I was smiling and enjoying myself every single second it was on. However it is NOT a Miku movie. This is the biggest mistake I see people make. It is a pjsk movie and honestly if you know nothing about the game or just want to see Miku you’ll be let down. It was made by fans of the game and Vocaloid for fans of the game and vocaloid…

As a vocaloid fan and avid Project Sekai player, I felt let down by this movie. Clearly the goal of this project was to create a neat little package primarily aimed at PJSK fans and generate publicity for the mobile game. As such, whilst the film briefly touches on every original cast member, the writing does not try to advance the plot of the event stories, nor does it even build off of them. This is a shame, as the event stories have flushed out the characters for four years at that point and we know that the team behind Project Sekai is capable of writing serious and heavy hitting event stories. Instead, the movie revolves around a mediocre B-plot that can't even be considered canon to in-game events. Even considering the fact that PJSK is aimed at both adolescents and adults, the ins…

Just watched the Miku movie, and well... I wasn't that impressed. There was too much going on, the film was waaaay too long, and too many irrelevant characters that I didn't care for, like waaaay too many. Miku was trapped for around 85% of the film and only sang one song, disappointment is an understatement. This is a film for young fans that just like Miku and want to see her on the big screen; the plot was lacklustre, and unless you've played the game, you wouldn't understand anything character-wise (yes, that's me).I've only really watched her performances on YouTube. I planned on watching her in person, but in a small, black, LED screen? Yeah, no thanks. Bring back the projections! If you haven't played the game this film will confuse the shi out of you.

This review is a love letter for the entire Project Sekai franchise, not just the movie. Be prepared for lots and lots of spoilers for the game, gushing, obsessing, messy writing, and love towards this franchise. Project Sekai is one of those media that pulls you in, hugs you, and never lets you go. It transparently looks into your feelings, doesn’t sugarcoat it or tone it down like many other media in fear of losing precious investor pennies, and presents it in an emotional and deep manner that resonates with your soul. Each character’s struggles are presented to you raw and honest, including in the movie. Without a doubt, Project Sekai is one of my favourite media of all time, and Kowareta Sekai to Utaenai Miku is no doubt one of the best movies I’ve ever had the pleasure of viewing. M…

A PROJECT SEKAI movie, NOT a vocaloid movie. Dozens of characters shown with zero introduction, so if you do not know anything about project sekai, you will be completely lost. 10+ characters thrown at you with no introduction whatsoever, it is hard to keep up with all of them. WAY WAY too many characters, if you are a project sekai player you will have a better time. Its impossible to keep track of whats going on with so many cuts between the 4 different bands each with 4 characters. As a result there is essentially ZERO development of these characters, because it is not possible to focus on any of them in the runtime, with constant cuts between all of them. 10/10 music though, it slaps, with each band having their own song, that redeems the rest somewhat as we get some cool songs, plu…

If you're only a Vocaloid fan expecting an ENTIRELY Vocaloid-centered story, this won't really be for you. But even if you're not a PJSK fan it can still be enjoyed. As a Project Sekai fan, the movie was alright. Like most of the in-game main stories, the storyline was pretty predictable. Before watching the movie you must know the characters well enough and be somewhat up to date with the groups' stories to understand what's happening. As for the dialogue(?) it was just fine (like the main and event stories), nothing particularly exciting, but that could just be the translation. On a lighter note, the songs were fun. I also had fun catching the many references to different Vocaloid producers. The animation was fine, but the sequences when travelling to SEKAI in particular were my favour…

As a fan of the game, I loved the movie. The hidden gems, the music, Hatsune Miku?! It was enjoyable. As a movie, you could say they spread out the focus too much because there was a lot of characters to focus on and the story is basic. That's just part of the core game play, so you can't really help that. Definitely a movie made for fans. The music was GREAT though. I looved seeing my favorite characters moving. The story was predictable. Art style and animation were actually great! Not like the greatest thing you'd expect in an action movie, but the dancing animation was really cool. The character focus was spread out for 25 people, so yeah, there was not a lot of character intro for people who've never played the game. I think this movie would only really be enjoyable if you like the…

This movie is more than what meets the eye. To your average viewer this will be a heartfelt movie with tearjerkers and fan favorite characters. But this movie can mean a lot more to those who are struggling. Those who need someone to reach out. Those people who are feeling like they are going to give up. This movie can give them at least a spark, something to ignite the fuel again. For any creator out there, or anyone trying to find their purpose, give this movie a shot, and maybe it will lead you to where you need to go; it did that for me. (Also a bonus since the music was amazing in the film :] )

short review, this movie is not only for pjsk players, it can also be watched by non-pjsk players and as long as you know Hatsune Miku I'm sure you will enjoy this anime movie. This anime will also make you feel touched, or even cry feeling sad. In terms of character design, this is said to be interesting because each character in this film has their own characteristics and uniqueness. This movie also has elements that touch the heart and there are elements of fun too, in terms of music and story I give a rating of 10/10 because after watching this movie I feel like I want to rewatching the movie because this movie is very good and wholesome

All things considered, this is a pretty well done movie. First off, the visual direction is quite solid. This is a very pretty movie, and a lot of care went into the high number of set pieces throughout. Secondly, as long as you're not trying overly hard to keep track of every character (and you honestly don't need to be actively familiar with very many), it does quite well at juggling the large cast and all the parallel plotlines which I'd consider quite impressive. It may be a tad confusing if you're unfamiliar with the games or whatever other media makes up this franchise (which I am not), but it still manages to be quite enjoyable even if you're basically only familiar with Miku. The range also does a great job highlighting the huge breadth of meanings that music can have for differe…

If you've played the mobile game this is based on, this movie is an absolute blast! It's a treat to see all the characters fully animated and fully faithful to their personalities in the app. Every single one of the bands' performances was a delight. This movie is fanservice perfected: absolutely brimming with songs from the game, easter eggs, and side character cameos. At some point during the movie I realized that I had a huge dorky smile on my face, and it would just not go away for the entirety of the runtime of the film! This movie is an easy 10 for me. If you haven't played the game, this is still an enjoyable movie, but there's nothing particularly special that would get you to watch this over any other movie. The animation is good but not groundbreaking, and the plot is serviceabl…
