AniWorthLegend of Crystania
Introduction
Dreams begin to haunt Lady Sheru -- dreams of her past life as Pirotesse. Her love, Ashram, is being tormented at the hands of the soul of Barbas posing as their former king, Beld of Marmo. Interpreting this as a plea for help, Sheru searches for a way to save him by entering the chaos realm using the Chaos Ring. Meanwhile, Redon and his friends are called to arms again as ancient creatures begin to appear after being sealed away for centuries. Both their paths will cross once again, and on their shoulders will the fate of Crystania lie.

6.75/10 ~ Rough around the edges but thats anything Lodoss
As of 2025, this should be your last stop as far as Animated world of Lodoss goes, The watch order should be as followed:
- (1990) Record of Lodoss War OVA (Technically Optional)
- (1998) Record of Lodoss War: Chronicles of the Heroic Knight TV Series
- (1995) Legend of Crystania: The Motion Picture
- (1996) Legend of Crystania: The Chaos Rings OVA
- (2004) Louie the Rune Soldier TV Series, technically this is in universe but is 100% standalone and pretty bad imo, would recommend skipping this one
Legend of the Chaos Rings is a direct Sequel to the motion picture and are technically stand alone stories from the general Lodoss universe but I would highly recommend at least watching the Lodoss TV series as it will piece events and…

It would be nice if the Legend of Crystania OVA were good. Even if it taps into a lot of the same typical fantasy tropes as Record of Lodoss War does, this is the more imaginative story, and the world is far more interesting. The problem is that this is perhaps the most compressed and rushed telling of a story I've ever seen in my life. This is like taking a 100 episode show and condensing it into a 100-minute movie. It can be done. I've seen it with the Fist of the North Star movie, which had some problems associated with that choice, but the staff made decisions that resulted in a pretty coherent movie, and they cut it in such a way that there weren't too many dangling plot threads, the cast was small enough that everyone got a pretty fair shake, etc. For the Crystania OVA, it's like the…

This is your typical fantasy story. It checks all of the boxes for a typical fantasy tale. The most lacking areas are the artwork/animation and the sound. This did come out in the late 90's so if you don't like older animation then this isn't for you. That being said, it wasn't bad, and it does have a pretty good story.
It is filled with some decent characters. There isn't a lot of humor because it is mostly a serious story. It takes place in a different realm/universe and a couple characters visit a dream world that is referred to as the "chaos realm" a couple of times. There is a group trying to revive their evil master, and then there is another group trying to stop them. It has magical beasts, dragons, and magical warriors. It is more or less midieval themed to be a little more specif…

This is my first review and I'm glad I'm starting with this anime. I really enjoyed watching this, I didn't expect it to be so good.
First, the story is really interesting, there are many unpredictable events that made me love it. The art was also great too, there's so much fantasy in it, the towns, the valleys, the dragons, everything was very well-made. The sound is one of the best parts of this anime. I really love these epic orchestral sounds which fit best to this kind of anime and created an epic atmosphere. Most characters were really cool, such as Asthram, although I think the main character could be made a bit better.
There's a unique feel to this and I think it's one of the best animes of this genre. If you are a fan of RPG games, then I highly recommend this anime to you, that…
