The GOAT. That's all that needs to be said about Lupin III Part 2 Red Jacket. For most of us watching this on Adult Swim in the 2000s is what got us into Lupin. The English dub is out of this WORLD good. Still stands up today as one of the best English dubs every for an anime. Just legendary stuff. The episodes are funny, and because they're episodic can be consumed and watched perfectly with your evening dinner or a lunch and you can easily stop watching and come back later without it messing up your flow. You don't need to remember complicated plot structures or anything. It's just top tier stuff. It's funny, has action, the jokes still hold up, and art is far better than the CGI garbage of today. It's just as they say now PEAK.

This was the series that got me into Lupin III, and it's still my favorite of the Lupin TV series. Part 2 is a mammoth show, at 155 episodes. With the exception of a handful of two-parters and a couple of callbacks and returning characters, it's also entirely episodic, usually a "heist of the week" format. Which for me is perfect, since I love simple Lupin antics. It's fun, hilarious, and even after such a long series, never gets old. Of course, special mention needs to be made for the (hitherto) incomplete English dub, which covers the first 70 or so episodes. It takes an already funny series and ramps up the jokes with a gag-dub script, and is (imo) worth watching in this format in addition to the original Japanese, just for the different flavor it offers. If you just want fun heists…

Lupin III: Part II: The Franchise Learns How to Wear Every Mask There’s something inherently dangerous about longevity in episodic television. The longer a series runs, the more it risks becoming a prisoner of its own formula, repeating familiar beats until the charm erodes into routine. Lupin III: Part II, being the single longest entry in the franchise, walks directly into that danger zone. And to no one’s surprise… repetition absolutely exists here. You will see familiar setups. Familiar disguises. Familiar “Zenigata almost had him” punchlines. When you’re operating at this episode count, narrative recycling isn’t a flaw, it’s an inevitability. But what’s fascinating about Part II is how it weaponizes its own length. Because while repetition creeps in structurally, the series compensate…

I don’t even know where to begin with this review. This is easily one of the goofiest anime I have ever seen. And I love this show but not in the way that you expect. I'm tempted to say that it’s so bad it’s good. In a way, this show does kind of teeter on that line of being very enjoyably bad but it does have some unironically good aspects believe it or not. So as campy and dated as this show is, I’m gonna talk about the stuff I like first. The main thing I like about this show is that it’s just so fucking funny. They do sneak in some actual funny jokes once in a while but for the most part this show is just a masterpiece in being an unintentional comedy. Just watch this show with a group of friends or watch it while under the influence and you’ll probably have the best time of your life.…

I really am very new to anime. I was really only familiar with a few of them before I happened to come across Lupin III part 2 streaming on PlutoTV. I probably would not have stopped to watch it if there wasn't an insane action sequence on a zeppelin going on where Lupin and his gang were attempting to rescue Fujiko from Professor Lonebach in episode 145 all the while trying to avoid being captured by Inspector Zenigata. It wasn't dubbed into English (which at the time was pretty important to me when it came to actually continuing to watch the show), but the action sequence was so zany and impressive, I just had to see how it ended and by that time, I was hooked. Lupin is such a fun series, particularly the Red Jacket episodes. I would recommend it to anyone, even if they're not a fan of…

Pros I love the action I love the heists and they are creative in each episode I enjoy Lupin III as a character and his gang of course Enjoyed the soundtrack Cons Art needs a bit of work but it was made in the 70's so I can't critique that further Can get really repetitive Sometimes the heists have underwhelming endings Lupin III is one of my favorite old school animes. I enjoyed Lupin and his gang especially they have a lot chemistry when executing their heists. I love the many different ways that they take down Zenigata which is pretty funny and they mess with him every time it never gets old in my opinion. However the heists later on in the show do get repetitive. Also some of the plots in the later episodes we don't get clear answers to in my opinion. But overall, I still enjoy…

Also known as the Red Jacket Series, this second Lupin III TV anime appeared to combine elements of the manga with elements that were incorporated into the second half of the first series. Lupin's gang will steal from those who can take the loss and are either a criminal or some corrupt influential figure in society and will only resort to killing as a last resort or against criminals worst than they are. Fujiko making use of her body to get what she wants and Lupin's perversion are back, though these elements are somewhat toned down. Zenigata appeared to get the biggest shafting in this series as his character borders on incompetent and clueless in many episodes here, compared to when he was a more competent detective in other titles of the franchise who only fails to capture Lupin becaus…

I really, really love Lupin III. I'm definitely a biased reviewer, because Lupin is my favorite anime franchise out of everything I've seen, but I really can't express how much I adore it. Red jacket can really be considered the essence of the Lupin franchise, and is often the one that people think of when anyone says Lupin. Story: 10 Personally I'm a big fan of episodic type shows, and that's definitely what Lupin is. The story isn't always captivating or original, because after 155 episodes it becomes impossible to not reuse the same gags, but I really enjoy it just because of the fun, casual writing and the characterization. Art: 10 The art isn't exactly extraordinary, but it's an older anime- I love it because it lends to the feeling of the show and the franchise, and it really would…

After completing the first series which I enjoyed pretty much I immediately started watching this second one. And it really began good. Great episodes like their stay in Rio or the adventure with Nessie in Loch Ness, Scotland, are what I now simply call "classic". The problem with this series, though, is, that the episodes don't relate to each other. Ok, just watching one parter again and again can be fun, if you have to watch 155 episodes, though, it can be really annyoing (I'm a Lupin fan ever since I watched some of the 90's films, so dropping was no option for me). This was also the reason I put this series on hold after about 40 episodes. Well, I continued watching it of course, moreover, I stumbled across some nice to great episodes. One of them I'd like to highlight is Jigen's esc…

I am surprised no one has written a review of this anime yet. Its kind of intimidating being the first one to write a review about a classic Anime like Lupin the third Part 2. Well lets get onto the review. The plot is about the adventures of famous thief lupin the third and his partners Jigen ( one of the best marksman in the world) Goemon (the samurai and thief that can even cut steel) And Fujiko ( a beautiful thief spy who often betrays Lupin and his partners) There is no real overall story just like Lupin Part 1 its basically episodic unless there is a two part special (which is rare but good). Its more light hearted than the first series and from what I heard also the manga. The first series was kind dark gritty and action packed, but Lupin the Third part two has more humor and a lot…
