Ninja Cadets

Ninja Cadets

Introduction

During Japan's feudal era, there was a war between two ninja clans: the Byakuro and the Kabusu. One night, the Kabusu staged a fierce attack on the Byakuro castle in hopes of kidnapping the clan's infant princess. Their mission was foiled when a loyal ninja of the Byakuro flees the attack with the princess and disappears, eventually raising her to be a ninja. Several years later, six ninja trainees are given a mission to infiltrate the Kabusu-occupied Byakuro castle and retrieve a sacred scroll to complete their training. But their skills are put to the test when they encounter three members of the Kabusu, who use dark sorcery in an attempt to once again capture the princess - who happens to be one of the trainees. Its a classic 90s OVA that doesn't really flesh out the story given how its only has 2 eps. Its quite good for what it is; a simple setup with cute ninja girls. The downside is that we don't really know about the characters, their background and their motivation, but i'm willing to look past that since again its a 2 ep OVA. Characters' personalities are really fun and lovable. The comedy aspect is quite good. The fight scene is surprisingly well made and really enjoyable. I would recommend this anime for people who just wanna watch something simple and fun. It doesn't have a grand story with fleshed out characters, but it does have a fun, action-packed fight scene of cute and goofy ninja girls.

Ninja Cadets is an obscure, passionate, action-packed 90s OVA that I believe punches far above its weight. Beginning with the story, it's a pretty simple setup, with a group of young aspiring ninja students looking to infiltrate the castle which was once the base of operations for their clan, and retrieve magic scrolls from its possession, all while they are pursued by a band of evildoers. The story has strong bones, and provides the perfect structure within which all the action can unfold. It does a great job of investing you in the world and its characters, and therefore the story, pretty much right away. The strongest aspect of Ninja Cadets, however, is the art. Not only is it a perfect example of 90s anime, it is a perfect example of 90s anime that's done really well. The backgrounds a…

Cool little anime with ninjas. The plot follows 6 ninjas (3 boys and 3 girls) with different abilities on a mission and 3 villain ninjas (2 boys and 1 girl) with different abilities trying to stop them. Kunai are thrown around. There are sword fights. Even some ninjutsu. Weak points: story/plot isn't very interesting. Strong points: ninja fights, cool character designs, music and choreography. Not much happens since the series is very short (only 2 episodes) and there aren't many fights in total but most characters are fleshed out even in the short screentime they get. The story in the anime doesn't seem to be a complete adaptation of the light novel so it ends with some loose ends but it never feels like the story is important to begin with anyway.

So there's some ninjas and about half of them are girls and most of those girls are cute. There's some slashing and some gags and a few cool fight scenes. This is one of those things, pretty common with OVAs where it's like if you're looking for something entertaining to occupy an hour of your life this will do the job. There's nothing that particularly stands out about this one, which is fine because that means there's nothing that really makes it bad. I think the final fight in the second episode is pretty cool and was definitely more than I was expecting, you probably won't be disappointed. I've said it before and I'll say it again. When it comes to 80s/90s action OVAs, it's like, just watch it. Worst case scenario you waste an hour of your life which I'm sure you already do plenty. I…

A rather bizarre combination of bloody violence and cutesy teenage girl ninjas that just doesn't quite work. One character in this anime has no problem hunting down and killing an apparently innocent bear for sport, but turns out to be deathly afraid of . . . frogs. It's too violent for little kids but also too annoyingly cute for adults. Might work for 12 year old's. Includes a PG-13 hot springs scene. I thought it was a good experience to say the least. But the fact that the series isn't continued really is a downer on a good thing. It seems that the man who produced/directed(I don't really know) also produced/directed the first Tenchi Muyo. Well, he's dead. He died after making the 3rd episode of this and the 13(?) episode of Tenchi Muyo. This is why there isn't an end to either Ninja c…
