Have you ever tried to watch a 3-hour-long video essay about a topic on YouTube that you're mildly interested in, but it still feels like a drag to get through, so you check the time and see there are only 40 minutes left and think to yourself, "Well, I have come this far … I might as well finish it …"?
Well, that was pretty much my viewing "pleasure" of Silent Mobius, an above average anime that has fallen into obscurity.
I really liked the odd combo of sci-fi and magic, which initially hooked me to the series 'cuz let's be real for a moment here! No one can deny that the very concept of cute police girls fighting creepy tentacle demons in a grim cyberpunk city is one hell of a premise!
I didn't mind Silent Mobius starting off as this monster / character of the week series, as I feel…

Silent Mobius is an anime that creeps up on you and sucks you in. I was apprehensive to the series at the beginning, cop dramas really not being up my alley; and the first episode was a poor representation of how this story really shines.
each episode progressively gets better and better, the characters are amazing, fantastic style and animation, tear-jerking moments and scenes that make your heart flutter.
silent mobius delves into and excels at character development and how trauma grips the heart and changes people. lingering feelings of wanting, but feeling a little more than hopeless and distant from others; as well as touching on the general tenderness and complexity of emotions. everyone feels well fleshed out and relatable.
the world…

Silent Mobius is what I would categorize as a josei cyberpunk police anime that mixes everything with a bit of success and failure.
The characters more or less carried the show for me. What I especially liked were the strong focus on the young women's lives such as their love life and family bonds. The show has individual episode(s) that go very deep into their past and conflict and tries to connect that to the main storyline. This is a nice touch as to the usual action-capture the bad guys police anime and shows the human side of the characters
However some characters like Nami don't have a big influence in the show and could have been removed and nothing would change. Characters like Kiddy (my fav) could have been promoted to main character. The voice acting were very strong in the or…

Many years ago in my teens, I collected magazine about anime, a group of girls dressed in police uniform got my attention (as I love police series and logically also love the anime). The name of this anime, Silent Mobius, never left my mind until they decide to enter the world of these young police girls in last month. Silent Mobius has a history somewhat apocalyptic, and as I had just watched Neo Genesis Evangelion, felt that the two stories were similar in some points, as the Earth is attacked by unknown creatures.
Yes, there in 2023 things are no longer as we know, abominable creatures known as Lucifer Hawk (a name that to me makes no sense), terrorizing people, more precisely in the Tokyo city. To combat these creatures a special police department was created, the Department 00, also k…

This TV adaptation of Silent Mobius was a great improvement over the two subpar movie adaptations released earlier in the 1990s that I seen before watching the TV series. Being at 26 episodes, the series has more time to focus on exploring the major events that led to the threat of Lucifer Hawks coming upon our world and fleshing out other prominent members of AMP. The girls that make up the group are a likeable bunch having different personalities and backgrounds that led them to form or join AMP. A number of these characters get development throughout the series as they deal with the Lucifer Hawks and personal relationships, particularly Katsumi as she comes to grips with joining AMP and dealing with her family legacy.
The conflict between AMP and the Lucifer Hawks proves to be an engag…

Silent Mobius is a mish-mash of a lot of different things. It has magic, cyborgs, aliens, hackers, and thats just when you scratch the surface. Usually when an anime tries to mix this many things together the result is pretty poor, but in the case of Silent Mobius its a complete success. One of the first things I noticed when watching Silent Mobius was how familiar it all felt. You have your science project gone wrong doomsday scenario followed by what can only be described as hell on Earth, and then we pan out to about 30 years later where a special organization (the AMP) exists to battle the threat and protect whats left of the world around them. For some reason I felt like Ive been here before. The second thing I noticed about the show? How badly some of the names translated into…
