Elf Princess Rane is a vanishingly brief, well-produced, confused little mid-90s OVA. It has all the visual acuity and charm one expects from both the era and the format, but none of the narrative clarity that allows the abundant comedy to really shine through. Beginning with the story, it is essentially nonexistent outside of the setup. Go is an eccentric treasure hunter, and along with his childhood friend Mari, they stumble upon a tiny magic elf called Rane, who is on a quest to discover some artifact known as the four hearts. Beyond this setup, it is simply a chaotic mess. Two rival organizations, the Fire Department and Yumenotaka, both staffed by two sisters of a set of identical triplets, are also somehow involved with Go's pursuit of riches and all the elf magic, but exactly how is…

Recommended, just because it's the funniest anime I've seen in a long time. About a guy that talks super fast and wants to find treasure, and an elf princess who doesn't speak the same language. Side characters are an absolute treat as well, and include a feng shui master that constantly slaps his hair out of his face.
Nonsensical and hilarious, if you're looking for something like that, look no further. Please give it a go. I don't think there was a joke that wasn't laughed at.
However, if you prefer stories that are linear and make sense, this is not your kind of anime.
Art style and english dub was actually perfect for this anime too. Unique story, keeps you on your toes. Constantly one-ups itself.

Yousei Hime Ren is a short OVA from the mid 90s. Dangun Pictures did the animation for this. And it's not exactly a well known OVA but short, comedic OVAs tend to be either really good or really terrible. So, let's take a gamble and check it out.
Story:
We follow a young self-proclaimed treasure hunter named Gou as he follows the universe's most random treasure maps to try and find treasures. Naturally, he leaves devastation in his wake. He escapes one outing, nearly falls to his death and encounters a naked fairy named Ren. Why is she naked? Because she was doing a Princess Sally cosplay and her boots fell off while she was flying. Or because this was designed for fourteen year olds who can't get a hold of actual porn.
That's pretty much the entirety of this OVA. Gou goes somewhere t…

Story:
I don't really have a clue what was going on. There were a lot of things taking place at a time with little connection other than situational irony. I found some scenes funny but others confusing, and this was amplified by a character who spoke in reverse (which was also translated in reverse text.)
Things happen to happen and I can't really get into further detail because that's about all I know. I did chuckle because of certain things and I could see inklings of a solid plot coming to fruition at times but it just wasn't enough. This needed heavy editing just to make sense. Some scenes could have been omitted to make things easier to get. Like, holy cow some serious pacing issues plagued by bizarre scene changes that made little to no sense. It was so hard to keep up.

PROS:
Hilarious rap song in episode 2
CONS:
No character development
The story isn't given time to develop
No conclusion
Story: The show is only two episodes long so there's not much of a plot, the story seemed like it could have been interesting but it wasn't given the chance to be.
ART:
The art was fine, but not that intersting to me.
SOUND:
The dub was just fair, not that bad but not the best ether
I didn't find the music that interesting or memorable.
CHARACTERS:
The characters were mediocre for the most part, although the male lead was wasn't quite as mediocre as the others. There wasn't anyone I really rooted for because everyone lacked depth.
ENJOYMENT:
there weren't many memorable moments aside from the rap love song in the second episode and the way Ren speaks. Even th…
