Introduction

Years ago, extraterrestrials known as the Citizens of the Stars descended upon the planet of Tokinea and wreaked havoc on humanity. To fight back against them, the military developed the Majin project to create hybrids between humans and the Citizens of the Stars. With this combination of genes, they hope to exploit both the subservience of man and the powers of the alien. Majin no.7, a young girl kept under lock and key in a military base, is released after the Citizens of the Stars launch an attack. Despite possessing a plethora of abilities capable of effortlessly eliminating the enemy, she is burdened with doubt on the battlefield. However, when a boy named Yuuri tells her that she must fight to earn her freedom, Majin no. 7 is inspired by his courage and defeats the remaining Citizens of the Stars. The two decide to embark on a journey together, determined to find their calling in a time when humanity knows no peace. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Okay this Anime is Bad. BUT...okay no but's its bad. The story is incomprehensible at best, not because the idea is bad or anything, but because it tries to tell a story of Humanity, inequality, and love in about 3 mins watch time per episode. The characters are lackluster, i wish we would've seen more of them. Especially the Commander, trying to make the plot twist towards the end work just ended up confusing me even more. I guess Yuuri was ok, I think i liked Hanoka the most. Liking something about these characters is more of a pity act than actually good writing though. The Animation is whack, but i guess i can overlook that. It has its flair, the Flash animation approach is definitely something that makes me feel nostalgic. The opening is surprisingly good, and probably the only thin…

This is worse than Dark Cat and Skelter+Heaven; this is the work truly deserving of a sub-2. It is an absolute eyesore despite the designs looking quite nice: the rabbit aliens, Yuuri's gun, and Hanoka 7 herself are all well designed, but make the eyes bleed while in action. The story is very basic, perhaps not poorly done, but rushed through. The issue here is that they had a little more time than they gave themselves to pace this better: *half* of the run-time of each episode is the opening and the recap, if they trimmed down a 30 second version of the opening and were more frugal with the time spent recapping they might have had just enough room for the 'show' (and the audience) to breathe. The fact that they didn't do any of the above tells me they were starved for ideas at this projec…

Hanoka is a weird little project that could really only exist as a product of its time, that time being 2006. It has the dubious honor of being the "first anime fully animated in Flash", which I'm sure sounded both impressive and future-proof at the time. The result is that Hanoka is a fleeting experience with a bizarre hook, predictable storytelling, and overall amateurish execution, but nonetheless is something I probably would have ate right up when I was a kid, considering my love for anime, Flash animation, and the culture of Flash animations, which was in its golden age at the time. Beginning with the story, Hanoka is very formulaic and decidedly basic. Everything from the premise of an alien invasion, to a misunderstood heroine with mysterious powers, and an alien race that wants to…

Quite a few people seem to give Hanoka the title of "the worst anime ever", and I don't really think that is deserved. First of all, the animation was done by a single guy who mostly did web animations before, cut him some slack. Aside from a few goofy looking run cycles and some coloring mistakes here and there it's really not that bad. Not TV-anime quality, but not terrible either. The biggest problem with the anime is the fact that most of the episodes are only around ~5 minutes long and that includes the OP. This means the anime has very little time to develop the story and characters, and the fact that it's already kind of cliche doesn't really help. But really, that's Hanoka's biggest fault in my personal opinion. Just being kinda generic. I guess the best way to describe this sho…

IT WON'T BURN. This is your chance people, this thing won't burn. JUST push it a little futher, it won't burn. LOOK, it's not like a bloody "Bochi no Rock or whatever", which sank in just few month, no. THIS will work, unless you do not push it. It's a thing like a "Barefoot Gen", it's working emotionally which bloody hard to achieve. There's a feeling of sense of the society in here, just DON'T bloody abandon it. DON'T turn in into another Titanic, lol. The story so far: " Years ago, extraterrestrials known as the Citizens of the Stars descended upon the planet of Tokinea and wreaked havoc on humanity. To fight back against them, the military developed the Majin project to create hybrids between humans and the Citizens of the Stars. With this combination of genes, they hope to exploit…

This anime lowkey reminds me of that one meme that's like: "Can we pretend that airplanes in the night sky are like shooting stars I could really use a wish right now wish right now" with twilight sparkle and that bird (I forgot the name). It is horrible. Look up the first episode and you will see. I was laughing my ass off during the intro because it look like something my 9 year old sister would make. Please send help and eye bleach, because it is terrible. Really. The Characters are fine, but very generic and have absolutely no personality, the sound and voice acting actually aren't as horrible as expected, but the art... The story is bad too. It reminds me of anime star wars downgraded by 1000 percent, and I was bored quickly after I got over the bad animation and drawing. Never wa…

Mid at best. Hanoka is an incredibly funny anime to describe. It was originally an anime released in T.V. Shorts that was animated roughly in flash. I remember hearing about this anime from a video by Akidearest where she was talking about the "Worst Animated Anime." Hilariously enough, the anime wasn't that bad as I thought, I got some enjoyment out of it since I'm an English Teacher at heart, I don't care about an anime for the art I care about the writing; the writing in Hanoka didn't make sense, there wasn't a build-up it just kinda threw you in there. I didn't attempt to piece this painful show together but from what I can understand or even remember (I watched this anime from an all-nighter on a Chromebook instead of my actual PC and it felt like a fever dream) Hanoka was an unna…

Hanoka is not good. It was made in flash by a single person but that doesn't forgive some of its errors. This aired on television. This should have just been uploaded on to some Japanese New Grounds website or something because the quality of this anime is bad in almost every aspect. I've watched the entire 12 episodes PLUS the "directors cut" versions of episodes 1, 2, and 4. The directors cut versions are slightly better (especially for episode 1) but they are still not good... at all. The story is the best part of this anime. It's not amazing but it's not the worst thing ever and you can see that there's a decent idea behind it. It's just not executed very well, which I will get into later. The voice acting is okay. Hanoka herself has a pretty good voice actors but everyone else is p…

Hanoka might not have reached the infamy of other terrible anime such as Skelter+Heaven, Abunai Sisters, or Mars of Destruction, but that’s because this isn’t quite as bad as those other anime. It’s still not good, it’s just not as bad, which is the best compliment that I can give it. What little story there is takes place in an indeterminate year far off into the future on planet called Tokinea, where human beings only known as “Inhabitants of the Stars” are attacking Humans on a planet called Tokinea, accusing them of polluting the planet with their technology. Humans have created “Demon Gods”, powerful weapons used to destroy the Inhabitants of the Stars. This series focus’ on “Demon God 7”, known as Hanoka, and the boy who she is teamed up with, as they struggle to fight against the I…

Let me tell you the three mind blowing facts about Hanoka which no-one seems to know. 1)Although the anime is produced by RAMS, the entire Flash animation, Screenplay, directing is entirely done by literally one person, Mr Aruzi Morino. 2) The anime is only a small part of a bigger story created by the creator, Aruzi Morino. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOMXsjgUA7pxkEX3d8OmZbw 3) The anime actually has a DVD version, which inserts better character and setting development, new and altered scenes and a prologue and an epilogue, which ends with a happy ending. https://lostmediawiki.com/Hanoka:_The_DVD_Cut_(found_unaired/unsurfaced_version_of_flash_anime;_2008) So, every people in a very niche anime community seems to destructively hates this anime as a 'worst anime ever made' in a…

Fantastic! I can't believe one would be able to use microsoft paint so masterfully and then create an anime with it. Hanoka with its 'unique' style of animation and quirky characters makes it a bundle of fun to watch. The anime is compact in time and story with all of its cool fight scenes!!! This anime is god tier man... Like holy shit, even Kemono friends doesn't have anything on it. I hope you enjoy this as much as I do!!! You may be thinking that my ratings on the story, art, sound etc... is completely overestimated, but I disagree, I think that I've underestimated it with these ratings. If I could I would give it a 5 billion on each, totally worth it man, please watch this.

Hanoka is a series that proudly proclaims that it was the first TV anime series ever made solely using flash animation. And it's a mess! For starters, the animation is incredibly inconsistent and looks really jarring and awkward most of the time with action sequences that lack any kind of flow and having character designs that look off model most of the time. Now, considering the year this show came out in and if it were an independent project produced by one guy I would give it a pass. It was made during the Newgrounds era when many talented animators were beginning to emerge in the case of Egoraptor and the Eddsworld series. Eddsworld, in particular, was around two years into it's run when this show came out and the flash animation there, which was produced by one guy, is still a ton bet…

On the basis of spending too many nights watching this series in between Zombeavers and Unfriended, this show was exactly as expected from the description on Google. A thrilling compilation of flash gifs obviously stolen from Deviantart, this show will definitely leave you with more questions than answers. Not surprising considering there are no answers to be found, unless you were on that bootleg PSP, PCP. Overall, the animation, plot, characters, and soundtrack were the perfect storm of nothingness that morphed together into a hurricane that would put Katrina and George Bush to shame. 6/10 - needs more of that same butt shot from that main girl, whose name i don't care enough to remember. (But it's definitely NOT Hanoka)

Story: Honestly? The story isn't terrible. It's very basic, simple, and not even attempting to bring anything new to the table, but there's a vague understanding of general pacing, structure, foreshadowing, and other basic traits of writing. In fact, in the right hands, this narrative has the potential to become something very likable. Patricians will consider it drawl regardless of the form it takes, but that doesn't denounce the fact that this definitely has a ladder it could climb. That said, in regards to what keeps this from being all that great, the problem is the lifeless leads. There isn't enough time to really spend creating any character for them, and for the most part, things do come together to create believable characters, but it's still not enough to save it. For instance, m…

-Story- The story in Hanoka is a jumbled up mess and it is really incoherent. It is also a stereotypical story about a war between humans and aliens over a planet. There were a million moments in which the story followed cliches to the letter. There is minimal originality in this story. Also the ending has got to be the worst ending I have ever seen to an anime series. Terrible does not even begin to describe Hanoka. -Animation- Hanoka was the very first full fledge anime series to be animated completely in Flash. This is a terrible mistake. The flash makes the animation look unnatural, especially when viewing the characters. The faces and heads do not look right at all, and the faces show no expression on them what so ever. I do applaud the makers for trying flash, but it appears that…

I'm not really sure what I expected from this show initially. I'm all for new techniques used in any kind of context, and given that this Anime series had been animated entirely in Flash format, I thought of it as perhaps something exciting, something catching. Also, the episodes were short...meaning I wouldn't have to endure THAT much if it proved to not be worth my time. :-J So, how did my opinion turn out? Story: 3/10 Rehash, rehash, rehash. Well, it's a war between humans and large ferocious aliens, and special superpowered units have been deployed to aid the humans in the war. Hanoka is one of these - a girl with impossible strength a'la Saikano, who is teamed up with a boy (and the entire series through, I thought this was a girl) to take on this alien threat. Throughout the show, w…
