I've heard a lot of good things about this manga, but we'll talk about anime and the criminal world of Japan. The OVA doesn't show much, but the plot is stylish, the characters' thoughts are clear, and the actions are enjoyable.
The story is adult with a nail and cruelty, as it should be in such stories. Two ambitious young people plan to take over the criminal world of Japan and go to this step by step through dirty, corrupt politicians. Thus, to make the world a little better, but will it work out, not to become the same along this path?
I liked the drawing of the 90s. I wouldn't refuse a full-fledged series or films, but these are just dreams, such things are rarely shown now, too unconventional. Perhaps you need to read this.
The story will not appeal to everyone, but only to the chose…

Legit, serious yakuza anime are few and far between, and I'm happy to say Sanctuary handles the genre very nicely. I'm really bummed that all it amounted to is one 60 minute OVA, as the quality is very high and seeing as the manga is 12 volumes, there's much more material to pull from. Considering the dearth of this type of storytelling in anime, it could have filled a void if it had spun out into more OVA's or a TV series. It features some great animation and is just all-around well written, as it actually feels like a genuine '90s yakuza flick, just animated instead of live-action. In fact, it kinda has the vibe of an early Takashi Miike or Takeshi Kitano yakuza film, and that's a huge compliment. While I would wholeheartedly suggest checking out the amazing manga, this does have a satis…

Fun OVA, cool animation, and nice s3x scenes uwu... Whole-time it was entertaining, with not many boring parts. The overall story is pretty interesting because you get to see one friend join the Yazkua and the other one become a bureaucrat it is cool with the yakuza stuff in it. The fight scenes are good and interesting dynamics between the two friends.
The art is really good, only 90s kids can remember before anime art became manufactured corporate trash. The jiggle physics and the fight scenes have some high tier animation, especially the animation of the guns and blood
Wish there were more Yakuza anime like this..
Overall I had a good time watching it!

The gods can be quite cruel. For our unnamed protagonist, it’s as if unseen forces, far greater than himself, have conspired against him. What he wants is a simple, peaceful life; however, he’s forced to watch as that door is slammed shut by a vicious twist of fate. Having no other option, our protagonist turns to organized crime. After he acknowledges the situation he’s in, he resolves to make the most of it. His efforts, though, are rooted in humble beginnings. At first, our protagonist is little more than a performer of menial tasks, an errand boy for his superiors, and a victim to their whims. However, this doesn’t last for long. By relying on a combination of confidence, ruthlessness, and ingenuity, our unnamed protagonist ascends the ranks, earning the higher-up’s trust, as his sight…

Sanctuary is brilliant. We see both a corrupt political system and a dangerous underground, neither of which want some young punks rising to the top. However, the two protagonists are doing just that.
This OVA doesn't really give many details on the background of the story, and it certainly doesn't end it, so I assume this covers something in the middle of the story... I'll definitely be wanting to read the manga to find out more.
If you enjoy when one character pulls a fast one over on the other like in Death Note or Code Geass, you'll probably like this. The main character, Hojo, appears to be a genius. He's got a good position in the yakuza, but he has a great ambition that he works towards - apparently the whole "creating a sanctuary" thing, though this OVA doesn't really touch on th…
