Introduction
As the Holy Empire rises to power, the neighboring lands begin to gradually fall under its control. The Empire's conquest eventually reaches the small island of Erin, home to the Gael tribe. There, a priestess named Riannon is kidnapped to be offered as a living sacrifice to the demon king Arawn, a malevolent being rumored to have caused untold destruction in the past.
Riannon's brother, First Warrior Arthur, rescues her, when Arawn suddenly materializes before them as a handsome grey-haired man. Hiding his true identity and remaining enigmatic, Arawn pledges his power and leadership to the tribe's cause and joins Arthur, Riannon, and their merry band of friends—including a talented swordsman, an agile hunter, and a group of ecstatic pixies—as they fight back against the Empire, while uncovering the dark secrets of the land along the way.

Right up to about episode 19 the anime was very well paced and had a good build up in character growth and story. Then things kinda went who did who and what happened? It felt that there was a time skip and people and races we never met were there playing important roles and it left a lot of questions. This probably would not be a huge deal to those who played the game but for others coming into this anime with no foreknowledge probably got whiplash. By the end of the anime I was left with more questions and feeling very unsatisfied. Don't get me wrong the ending by itself was not bad, but the fact so much was skipped over it felt wrong to end. Like which white spirit did they fight? Where were the other 10? Where did the giants come from? Where was the tower at and how did they get there?…

This was a very enjoyable show, it's hard to believe the tag that says its based on an eroge. I had some problems with the clothing designs of characters, but was able to get passed it. This anime also decided to use a lot of names familiar to Western audiences, mainly from Arthurian lore; this is something that happens in a lot of anime and tends to annoy me. I didn't like the way they portrayed the Elven race in this, but a solid plot and a few great characters were more than enough to overcome the flaws I saw.
This anime definitely will not be enoyable for everyone, but I think it is worth a try for anyone who enjoys fantasy adventure shows.

A series that has been lost in the sea of Anime shows over time, this review should bring back up to the surface for a brief time so let's get started.
The Story involves a tribal group that have become at odds with the current empire and than are brought into a plot to revive the legendary demon king rumored to bring destruction to all. that plan backfired and instead the demon king allies with the tribe as their new chief and plot to reestablish a long forgotten nation and bring down the current government to be rid of it's influence and corruption while facing a bigger threat from behind.
The Plot is very basic, a typical fantasy setting with the typical troupes that come out with, magic, knights, demon king etc...to be fair unlike a lot of fantasy stories today this one while cliche…

I'll make this short, It's nearly impossible to like a series when the main character is so unappealing. You would think the demon king/fallen angel would have some charisma or attitude, nope. The guy was dull, and yet every single women he came across would just had to fall in love with him and he would take them as his wife. Now I don't mind a good harem every once and a while but the way they did it in this show just seemed sleazy and to some extent pointless after a while. Nothing they could have done would have detracted from the horrible poligamy either, this shadow was doomed after the fourth episode yet I kept watching. The dub is also horrible, so there's that too.

Shortly: I really recommend it. I watched it 3 times.
Okay, I admit. First time I watched It I found it a bit boring at first, but when I got into it, it was difficult to stop. So don't give up so easily (especially not after the 2nd episode, which can make one maybe drop the anime).
In the end, the anime is filled with action, moral questions, humor and more. So, not just useless fights or philosophy.
The characters all differ from one another (and some of them are a bit strange, but that's not so unusual for animes). It adds a lot as if all were relaxed or hot-tempered, we'd get nowhere, things would start to repeat themselves.
As you can see in a lot of animes about Ancient History or Middle Ages, those who are responsible for everything are men. It's easy to see here the sentence "be…

Who doesn't enjoy an anime set in a fantasy world with good story, swords and magic, humans, elves, angels, orcs, dragons, and giants?
I thought i would enjoy as much when i watch this anime. However, i personally feel that 26 episodes for this anime is far too stretched out for it. I feel the characters gave too much pointless speeches that made me want to fast forward and just watch the ending. But, i know if i do so, i might miss a few important parts of it.
Somehow, i managed to finish all 26 episodes and in the end i couldn't bring myself to give it a bad rating as it is still a good fair of anime.

Tears to Tiara is not so much a spiritual successor to Utawarerumono as it is a remake with a change of setting. Both shows were directed by Tomoki Kobayashi, with the production studio being Oriental Light and Magic. Both are adaptations of a tactical RPG/visual novel game from AQUAPLUS, and while the grand sweeping fantasy story is a departure from most visual novels turned anime, the original creators clearly only had the one diversion from the standard. The lack of originality here is frustrating for anyone who has already seen Utawarerumono. Nearly the entire ensemble of characters immediately draw comparison to counterparts in the other show; and, more damningly, so do plot points and twists.
The general plot of the story revolves around the Demon King Arawn becoming the leader of…

When I first started to watch Tears to Tiara it was really hard to keep watching because I thought it was a real slow-burner yet it turned out to be one of the best shows I've ever watched.
The main characters are all well-conceived and have a strong presence throughout the whole anime. You automatically come to love them.
Some old legends are mixed up in the plot (including the Arthurian Legend e.g.) and give the whole series a kinda familiar touch. The drawing style is very beautiful and so are the opening and ending. The choice of voice actors fits the anime really well, too.
You could argue that it's one of those typical Eroge/Adventure animes but it's not and is so much fun to watch and be thrilled.
I can't understand why no one I know knows/likes Tears to Tiara but everyone's tast…

The anime looked good from the beginning and it is pretty mediocre, nothing badass, nothing unique, nothing beautiful, so i think its just the average anime, not really worth watching if you want a badass series to watch its 'meh'
story: 4
this anime... is... somewhat lame in plot development, everything seems too random, i mean, after a certain event they just turn around and say oh this is next... its like, dude??? wtf??? there weren't any good plot buildup at all... and this.... just ruined the anime for me

I saw good reviews and thought this series was exactly what I was looking for. An RPG style sword and magic adventure. While it has action and a good plat/storyline.... the characters are boring and repetitive. The episodes are always broken up by long and needlessly drawn out conversations. Practically a visual novel.
The art style is pretty good, the outfits and landscapes looked great. Fight scenes were nice and bloody. However the background music was very repetitive throughout the series, the same three or four tunes that were straight out of a 1995 RPG game. Almost as annoying as the dialogue. The word 'Mamoru' is permanently scribed into my brain. "This guy killed my dad so I have to kill him! ah but wait, he's my friend! I totally forgive you now that I think about it, you're not…

THEME. The themes of this story was indeed not something to be awed for bewildering unexpectedness; The themes are not very new and are often discussed in many literature. Some of these literature are dated as far as back as the Egyptian and Babylonian times. Not telling what the themes are~~
CHARACTER'S MOTIVATION. Frankly, the motivation of the characters in Tears to Tiara was a cliche. I'll give you a hint, "mamoru" is a big key here and for otakus, this key word "mamoru" is very redundant because it's used in many of the animations currently distributed today to provide characters a motivation.
CONFLICT. I like the fact that the only conflict mentioned in the series is not restricted only to the Holy Empire.

This seriously needs more reviews!!!
Awesomely awesome show, had me hooked from episode 1. It is a tad gory so beware, but other than that i loved it. One thing that bothered me though was that the characters, while amazingly drawn, etc, aren't extremely fleshed out, so they don't have a ton of personality. Rhianon comes off as a bit flat and helpless, and while she is married to Arawn (not a spoiler, it's in ep 1), not much is said about their union.
Seriously though, great show, i love the mythological and arthurian ideas thrown in, as well as the background music and themes. Enjoy!

Okay, now I will admit one thing here. I have been itching (that's right, itching), to review this series from around episode 6. There's very few shows that have that effect on me, and almost every one is a special case. This one is no different, not because the show is actually good, or because it's well animated, or even because it has a good soundtrack. I've been wanting to review this show because of the things that inspired it's creation, and by this I don't mean the eroge that came before (although admittedly this version is based on the PS3 remake). Instead, I mean the cultural, historical and mythological references that have been poured in, mixed around and se…
