Laid-Back Camp: The Movie

Laid-Back Camp: The Movie

Introduction

As time marches forward, Rin Shima, Nadeshiko Kagamihara, and their friends have grown into full-fledged adults. Now with careers and responsibilities, they can no longer freely spend their days camping and adventuring. However, Chiaki Oogaki, who currently works for the Yamanashi Tourism Organization, reunites the group as she comes up with an exciting proposal—to build a campground together to revitalize an abandoned patch of land from their homeplace, the Yamanashi Prefecture. Motivated by this ambitious project, the girls combine their efforts to create an environment where future generations can enjoy unique moments as they once did, all while reminiscing the charms of camping from their high school days. This movie was underwhelming, although I honestly expected as much going into it. It was still a fine watch, but it had no business being two hours long. A lot of Yuru Camp’s appeal for me comes from its TV format. I can put on a nice 23-minute episode while drinking something hot and just have a relaxing time. Stretching that experience into a two-hour movie made it tiring and sometimes genuinely boring. I think a 90-minute runtime would have suited this kind of story much better. The premise itself was actually very promising. Seeing the characters as adults, following their own paths and then coming back together to build a campsite, created the perfect opportunity for a more emotional and melancholic story. The past, the future, and the passage of time are some of the strongest tools…

"The Yuru Camp Movie Review" or "How I Learned to Leave the High School Fantasy and Love Adulthood" A lot of these types of shows (whatever you want to call them, CGDCT, slice of life, comfycore) tend to focus exclusively on school life and romanticize it. And they usually end when the characters graduate, because I guess adulthood sucks and why would you make a show about it? Obviously, Yuru Camp is literally one of those shows. But the movie does something refreshing by timeskipping to when the characters are in their early 20's - and they all have jobs and apartments and other adult things that they have to deal with, which we get to see a decent amount of (they're not just something mentioned in passing that we never see). The film starts off with Rin's morning routine and commute an…

The anime is good but the OVAs and this movie are kinda the low points to the series. It mostly feels like an attempt to replicate the anime without actually having enough of a plot to justify the 2 hour run-time. I understand the movie isn't canon and this likely explains why it feels less polished. The good: Recognisable, likeable characters and great soundtrack, animation seems better. The bad: Pacing, humour is weaker and less original at times, animation doesn't focus on scenery which is generally it's strength. -Instead of beautiful scenery being the focus of quiet moments, we get long, drawn out scenes of the girls... cutting grass, and sitting around sadly because they can't cut grass (for like 30 damn minutes). -Instead of looking at different ways to use the natural environme…

This is one of the best feel good series for me when I just wanted to watch something slow and relaxing. In this movie, it did not fail me at all with the reunited warm friendship among the now adult characters and the passion they still have towards camping. Of course, the food that the show portrayed, although mostly simple fare, never failed to make me drool. It was amazing how the art made the food looked so delicious. Soundtrack was wonderful and soothing to the ears too. Watching this, it made me think that even with all the hustle bustle of everyday life, one must never forget to slow down and take time occasionally to indulge in some of our passions in order to fully enjoy and appreciate life.

Wow, what a nice movie. I kind of got a bit emotional listening the ending song. The story was one unique one which shows how a group of people passionate for a goal can work together and fulfil it. This movie shows how passionate the characters are when it comes to their favorite activity, camping and how camping can bring people together. The art work was also good, showing beautiful sceneries, funny character expressions. Life goes on, responsibilities keep coming, but for something one is passionate about, they should try finding enough time for it - this is the message I got from the movie. People will definitely like this movie, it's a family friendly movie so they can watch it with family. Those who have already watched the series will also like it.

Wow...... I owe this series a massive apology. When I saw Season 1 several years ago, I didn't really care for it at all. I just thought it was whatever and had nothing to it. But me being me, I like to watch shows to completion. So when a second season got announced, I gave that a watch. I wound up liking it a lot more than Season 1. Now I finally watched Season 3 and I absolutely loved it. Immediately after, I watch the movie, and.... this is one of my favorite anime series of all time, now. I'm not kidding. It won me over. Maybe I was just not in the right place when I started it, but the time spent with these characters and all the little adventures they went on really warmed my heart. I cannot stress just how good the movie was. It was SO surprising, had such a great premise, some leg…

Wow, so much glowing praise. Really? Come on, let's be frank... it's honestly not very good. Sluggishly paced, meandering, and quite boring. Look, I enjoyed the first two seasons of 'Yuru Camp'. It was like comfort food. I had no issue with the pacing. I liked the relaxed vibe. It's about process, not payoff. It's about learning as you go along. Taking pleasure in the little things, soaking in the environment, either alone, or with friends. I get that, and I like that. It was a refreshing change of pace to the fan-service drenched fodder we're usually served up. Majestic landscapes, "food porn", hot springs... Loved it. Now, what ever they were trying to achieve for the movie, didn't work for me. Sure, 'Yuru Camp' has always indulged in the detailed procedures of camping and cooking activ…

Brief overview: A must-watch and a very emotional masterpiece if you have seen the previous seasons. Story 9/10 This time the story still follows the previous series where they camp and do fun stuff. However, they are all grown up and have their own personal life to attend to. Throughout the story, they have a goal to build a park that is designated for campers. Many of the stories mostly focus on constructing the park and meeting old friends from high school. While at the same time there is still some educational content based on camping throughout the story. So you can expect more or less the same from previous seasons Characters 10/10 So the reason why this is so emotional is mainly due to the characters. The characters you loved from the previous seasons used to be High school class…

Sit down, set aside 2 hours, and be healed. It's got folk music, lavishly detailed backgrounds, and a lovable cast of cheerful girls. The group project plot was entertaining, and I liked its overall themes of nature, togetherness, and coming of age. It took me far too long as a Yuru Camp super fan to get around to this one, and I regret it. It's the exact kind of movie you need when life is busy and things are moving fast. It was wholesome to see the gals make time to work towards a common goal and have fun doing it, despite now being adults with jobs and other responsibilities. Oh, there is also a very cute dog. So what are you waiting for?

Yuru Camp or Laid-Back Camp as it was known in some media like Crunchyroll, is one nice relaxing anime for the soul. It is sweet and well paced. Not too fast nor slow. The characters are funny and relatable high school kids. Though the only downside is that they are all girls. Perhaps one with the boys series may be in the future works. Still it is no biggie. But now in this movie they are now adults and get back together for camping. The MC Rin is a girl who does enjoy camping very much. So much so to the point of getting a motorcycle license to further her enjoyment of camping. She still ride the same bike. Just love the opening scene where the shot of Mount Fuji as the backdrop of Shochiku entertainment company appears and seamlessly blend into the start of the anime scene. Time for 2…

This is another beautiful work in line with the rest of the series. I absolutely loved the first two seasons and, while I did enjoy this, I felt a little bit of disappointment and I can't exactly pin down just exactly what it might be. All the characters were virtually the same, though appropriately adjusted for adulthood. They were still young women and had continued to work (kudos to the mangaka that made sure people understood they were working for what they wanted to do rather than just magically having money or getting it from their parents as an allowance.) That still share their love for camping to work in a big way this time, but by building and sharing it rather than partaking. The idea is very novel and it's well adapted. I think it's the fact that they aren't teenage girls ju…

In the opening act of the final episode of the 1st season, we see the Yuru Camp girls all grown up, with Rin arriving on her grandpa's motorcycle and Aki taking on the mantle of Miss Chug. Everything looks realistic until the punch line where Nadeshiko arrives on a rocket-powered tent. "Hey, maybe this is how we'll end up in 10 years?" "BS." Evidently someone saw this and said, "Hold that thought. No, not the rocket tent, that's absurd." You get a taste of what the research and animation teams are capable of when the film starts with Shochiku's towering Mt. Fuji signature card and fades into a shot of Mt. Fuji at the exact same angle. It would have been much easier to trace or re-render Shochiku's Mt. Fuji, but because our intrepid heroines often camp where the sacred peak is visible, it…

“Perfect” is the word to describe this show. 100% recommend, watching this show make me forget all my problems. Also it’s so unique, most of anime i watched make my feeling goes up and down but watching Yuru camp make you feel chill. It’s like you listening to “death bed” slowed version. Growing up, I used to just watch action and romance anime, but the more i grow the more i enjoy watching slice of life. Warning, after watching this showed you suddenly wante to add camping to your bucket list ahahahahha. Will miss this show, hopefully 2023 will be great just like the show and happy new year.

No doubt, Yuru Camp deserves the best SOL anime that has never made me any more relax than watching the series. The movie involves the girls that have grown up as adults working in the outside world, coming together as one again despite living in different prefectures. Many nostalgic scenens/moments along the way as they try to get together to rebuild something that means a lot to them. Wholesome and heartwarming series as we get to see how each of the individual girls have grown up! This movie is a really good wrap of the whole series. Really looking forward to the upcoming Season 3 announced!

It's funny. Laid-Back Camp is a series that I didn't really see myself gravitating towards. I know for a fact that if this had come out when I was a kid, I probably wouldn't have given it a chance because I was pretty judgmental about certain things until I learned more and grew out of certain toxic mindsets. But having seen two seasons and this new movie, it's honestly kind of amazing to see that every new iteration of Laid-Back Camp not only manage to be better than their predecessor, but even expand on the series further while still staying true to its whole ethos and what makes the series work. The first season is an admittedly cute show that didn't really hit any highs and was sort of held back by its formula. The second season remedied this by expanding not only on some characters an…
