The Misfit of Demon King Academy

The Misfit of Demon King Academy

Introduction

In the distant past, a war between humans and demons brought about widespread chaos and bloodshed. To put an end to this seemingly endless conflict, Demon King Anos Voldigoad willingly sacrificed his life, hoping to be reborn in a peaceful future. In preparation for their king's return, the demon race created the Demon King Academy, an elite institution tasked with determining Anos' identity when he reawakens. He reincarnates two millennia later, but to his surprise, he soon learns that the level of magic in the world has drastically waned during his absence. Moreover, when he enrolls at the academy to reclaim his rightful title, he finds out that demonkind remembers him differently. His personality, his deeds, and even his legacy are all falsified—masked beneath the name of an impostor. This "lack" of common knowledge renders him the academy's outlier—a misfit never before seen in history. Despite these drawbacks, Anos remains unfazed. As he sets out to uncover those altering his glorious past, he takes it upon himself to make his descendants recognize that their ruler has finally returned. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

This show is absurd, question is it is absurd enough? We have generic demonlord #641 reborn as the most OP of OPs and yada yada yada you know how this goes. Actually... so does the author of this series. It's clearly a comedy with the OP character dialed up to 13. I mean can you take any of this seriously = - Born literally one month ago. - Started talking in that deep male voice right out of the womb. - You know how the cool character spins a basketball on one finger? He spun a castle. - Killed someone with his heart beat. - Copy/pasted Hogwarts down to the owl system and the "mudblood" thing. On purpose, they are not spoofing or parodying it. I don't think this should count as spoilers since they all happen in episode one... yes really. Are you willing to take it seriously with thi…

How often do you get a good night's sleep? I never get the sleep I deserve. After watching so many bad anime, I stay up all night tossing and turning in bed. A lack of sleep can cause depression, anxiety, weight gain, etc. No sleep medication has helped me. Melatonin, Benadryl, Trazadone, even horse-tranquilizers. Nothing worked... until now. I finally found the cure for insomnia, and its name is The Misfit of Demon King Academy. Hi, I'm RebelPanda and I've made it my job to ensure YOU get the good night's sleep you deserve. Just turn on an episode of The Misfit of Demon King Academy and you'll feel drowsy in seconds! No anime has made me fall asleep faster since Kenja no Mago! It blends every generic power-fantasy anime trope into a single episode. Remarkable! There are no stakes, no o…

One would check the score I gave it and ask himself if I am insane. How dare he give it a whole 9 points? It's rather simple, that's the reflection of my enjoyment from watching the show and how I felt about it, and despite it having the most cliché description, there are qualities that I found pleasant and it clicked for me. /Sidetrack/ First things first, I do feel like if you dislike power fantasy you won't like power fantasy no matter what it will be. Therefor I have no idea why some people watch such shows and hate them with a passion, and later explain how much they dislike it for cliché reasons. With the variety of shows that exist one should watch genres and things he enjoys instead. Getting back on track. I'll start with the animation/visual and artistic quality of the show. It'…

This anime changed my life. Before I was just a humble boy now I am a man. This is PEAK FICTION. Anyone who gives it a low review is scum of the earth. They do not understand peak fiction even if it smacked them in the face. This anime is perfect. If you love this anime and give it a 10 you are the best person on this planet. Like the father said "atta boy" to all of you. The story and the characters were all amazing (except for the teacher. she sucked) this anime hit all the notes when it came to story, art, sound, character, enjoyment. Overall a 10/10 anime. Even my grandma loved it! Would definitely recommend it to everyone.

Alright I had to write an review simply b/c people are sleeping on this show and writing it off as another generic, trash, carbon copy of an overpowered isekai fantasy. Let me tell you something, they're wrong. Most of the people reviewing this show haven't even watched all 13 episodes and it shows in their reviews and scores. The only show deserving of a 1 is Eromanga Sensei and Isekai Cheat Magician. This show objectively deserves to be scored a 7 at the minimum, and I'll tell you why in this review. I'll try to keep it concise yet as informative as possible without spoilers, b/c I don't feel like writing an essay tonight. If you want an full in-depth review, go watch Scamboli's video essay on this show on YouTube. :[The Short Review]: This show is about a Chad Demon Lord Grandpa from…

[ WHAT IF ONE PUNCH MAN, BUT DEMON LORD ] I seriously don't understand why the other reviews are so low. If it was an isekai I would understand it a bit more maybe, but it isn't. I really really enjoyed this show. I'm a complete sucker for overpowered main characters, and this show does it better than so many I've seen before. There's never the "oh I'm the most powerful being but the bad guy managed to booboo my epsilon so now I'm only at 1% power and can barely fight back". The first episode has the main dude repeatedly murdering someone and resurrecting them to the point of trauma, to get them to surrender, while dropping existential mindfuck bombs on them like "some say when you resurrect you aren't the same person, what do you think?". The way he kills them is by snapping his f…

This was one of the best anime of 2019. This anime knew exactly what it wanted to be from the moment it was conceived. It was, is, and always will be a power fantasy, executed perfectly, by an anime studio that knew what it was doing. This was a story of love - love of close family, love of friends, love of broad family, and love of even family removed by thousands of years. Anos Voldigoad knew, from the very moment he was born, that he didn't need to care about the people of myanimelist. But he cared anyway. He acted with perfect love for demons, humans, and gods. He demonstrated perfect love, while myanimelist commentators lost the plot.

The reviews and rating of this anime doesn't match, showing how unreliable MAL's one or the other can be. Nonetheless, I will be defending the rating side this time as I too enjoyed this anime and wish to share my love and allow the same people as I to get into this anime and not get a bad impression from the negative reviews. Strictly saying, Maou Gakuin no Futekigousha: Shijou Saikyou no Maou no Shiso, Tensei shite Shison-tachi no Gakkou e is just another OP MC anime with a little effort of uniqueness ( the concept of “the Demon King is actually kinda good” ) provided in hope that it would make the story better but that concept has already slowly become about as generic as its opposite because it's overused ( at least from my perspective and experience ) and this anime is fundamentally…

Quite simply this show is just enjoyable. It is just a fun and entertaining show, which sometimes is all you are looking for. If you want some quality entertainment that doesn't take itself too seriously, then feel free to indulge. If you want something more serious then move on, but this show knows what it is, it leans into it and allows you to enjoy the ride, which I did thoroughly. To add some more depth, quite frankly the MC is a refreshing/hilarious and his one liners never cease to entertain. However, despite being extraordinarily overpowered, the side characters are always allowed and even encouraged to exhibit growth/character development which ends up allowing you to become invested in all of the characters. Also the MC parents in this show are second to none. Overall, here's t…

tl;dr this whole anime was literally only a deus ex machina. This will probably have spoilers, though I can't say I'm spoiling much. If you were looking for anything with a plot, character development, or decent action, don't watch. The plot was "OMG we have a huge problem," then Anos going "dw bro i got a spell to cover that." Now, I'm not saying it's no fun if you always win; Overlord and other broken MC animes like Tensei Shitara Slime manage to balance it out with other factors. A flawless MC like Anos is boring, no character development of side characters took more than a single half of an episode, and Anos's abilities destroy what little plot there was. Only watch this if you just want some good-guys-always-win gratification.

First of all I just want to say that this anime is a SATIRE COMEDY and you should watch it as one too, since if you try to watch this anime like it's a serious anime and take it very seriously, you will probbably be dissapointed and cry about like a little b*tch after leaving it a 1 star review like a degenerate. If you actually take it as a comedy, you will probbably have a good time and enjoy it quite a bit. That being said I can now write my review. So at the beginning I thought that it was just gonna be another trashy harem anime like any other magic-highschool show out there, just a bit more funny and comedic, but I was pleasantly surprised, that it was actually way better that that. The MC actually has a character and no stupid character traits and is way more than just your pure he…

This is the first time I'm writing a review. Contains spoilers. Maou Gakuin no Futekigousha is an example of what writers should do if they don't have "original" ideas. I say this because this anime has 0 originality but it's an enjoyable anime. The writer clearly knew that it's very hard to come up with original ideas these days but instead of being a tryhard and writing some big brain novel (source material is a novel) he decided to write something that people could enjoy. The MC is called Anos Voldigoad and he is the Demon King and a Gigachad. He is OP, but unlike boring protagonists from anime like Kenja no Mago, he is badass and has a great voice. First impressions of this character from episode 1 might make people think that he is some edgy dude that likes to see others suffer, b…

**Spoiler free** Honestly, anyone can be forgiven for thinking it's another generic isekai (do in theory it isn't) like isekai cheat magician. I have to state, I am an big fantasy and magic anime fan, so you can expect a bit of bias. The story, characters and action are all mediocre, I dont think you'll loose hair due to them but I can't say in any way they're great. But honestly, I don't think the creators intended this to be a tate no yuusha. The show has made me laugh more than any other 13 episode anime. If you were meant to laugh, I can't say but that doesn't matter because it does. I will note, there are 2 characters I love in this anime, and those are anos his parents. I wont specify why but they just work. The story is generic and is one of those where everything happens in a…

If I said I didn't enjoy the hell out of this series then I'd be a liar. This is one of those anime where the main character cheeses the most absurdly impossible things in the most impossibly dumb ways. The story and characters aren't the best and it may seem generic at first but somehow it just got a hold of me and wouldn't let go. This was a 6/10 for me and deserves it fully, looking at it it's really good at being entertaining and that's all you should expect from a fantasy anime with a mc who can yeet castles like they're legos. I recommend this to anyone in need of watching an op main be op and all side characters being absolute potatoes cause they can't think for themselves. This is something you can turn on and turn off your brain to watch because there is no incredibly amazing,…

"The misfit of Demon King academy is like one punch man but on steroids" (I assume you have read the Synopsis before reading this review) Anos Voldigoad the main character of this series may seem like an overpowered self insert character, but he is not. He has an actual personality and a reason for doing what he does. He was never a fan of war but due to circumstances beyond his control he couldn't stop a war from happening between all of the races, and the pent up hate which the races had because of this war didn't make it easier to stop it so he and with the help of the hero made walls between the lands of the 4 races and after some time they would disappear rendering all the pent up hatred to history. The reason why he did this is a spoiler so I won't tell you about it but there i…

How to make a series with an OP MC interesting? You write and surround them with amazing supporting characters with unique quirks and personalities. You balance the MC's screen time with them and voila, you have an enjoyable series that doesn't feel bland. That's what Maou Gakuin gave us and why it was my second favourite show of the season after Re:Zero. Yes, Anos is extremely overpowered and it's the familiar fantasy setting, but there's a reason the light novels and anime have been so highly received and I promise you this is different from your usual OP fantasy. The supporting characters really make this series shine and will provide immense enjoyment. Everyone who knows me knows that I am extremely anti-tsundere. So for a character like Sasha to catch my fancy, requires some seriousl…

While Demon King Academy does take the common overpowered character trope, it actually manages to provide a thoughtful mystery-esque story with a foundation supported not only with Anos' fan club but with fair amounts of worldbuilding and explanation of Anos's doings. So what makes this stand out from the others? The story follows a recognizable pattern of arcs where characters are introduced, understanding their purpose and confronting Anos in the end. The only nitpicks I had with the storytelling is that they could have slowed down a bit, as at some points the pace was quite fast to not leave a substantial impact for upcoming episodes. The most fascinating thing about this show is how everything just seems to be freakishly tied together. Almost everything is explained, from callbacks t…

The Misfit of Demon King Academy: History's Strongest Demon King Reincarnates and Goes to School with His Descendants wins the award for the most unnecessarily over the top title of the year. But then again, it fits perfectly with the actual content of the show itself, which can be described as nothing short of absolutely ridiculous. And that’s thanks to the inclusion of one particular being of immeasurable power and prestige. *drum roll* Anos Voldigoad That’s right, Anos deservers an entire line dedicated to his name alone, he’s just that omnipotent. This anime was literally a hair's breadth away from becoming a generic isekai. Which Maou Gakuin technically is, since Anos gets reincarnated 2000 years in the future, so yeah, close enough! But the creator adapted the common trend of makin…

Maou Gakuin no Futekigousha (The Misfit of Demon King Academy): THE SECOND COMING of Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei (The Irregular of Magic High School)? I hope to believe so, because like the latter, to which the same ol' gimmick of elitists proclaiming: "Oh, ANOTHER "power fantasy LN" with the same OP MC likeness? Get the F*** outta here!" is kinda tiresome at this point (and I honestly DON'T F***ING CARE). But in actuality, this show is AMAZING and AWESOME AS HECK. Do you love power fantasy stories, with the lore of the actual MC not being a fuccboi and doesn't take a shit or 2 about others taking his place, all while being massively OP? Well then, like Mahouka's Tatsuya, Misfit's Anos Voldigoad will wreck you with his full-on "lay dormant for 2000 years" rightful Demon King powers so col…

Well, I’ll be damned. In 2020, it seems overpowered fantasy tropes still finds its time to take up TV screen time. Because in this anime known as ‘The Misfit of Demon Academy’, main protagonist Anos Voldigoad adheres to everything you can describe about a character with too much power. And if you’re hoping to see a well-developed show with likable cast or creative story, then buckle your belts. Spoiler: you won’t. Adapted from the light novel of the same name, it doesn’t take long for the audience to discover why Anos exist in the present timeline. He has been reincarnated after 2000 years and is now one of the most powerful beings on the planet. This isn’t just a legend but a fact as we’ll witness the extent of Anos’ abilities – magic, intelligence, experience, and overwhelming power. In…
