Introduction
A violent rebellion in the capital led by Duke Rugis Camellia wreaks havoc on the Kingdom of Hortensia, leaving every member of the royalty either dead or missing. Barely escaping with his life, knight Maurice Baudelaire flees the ensuing chaos after his brother, Fernando Albert, is killed by a werewolf in battle.
To honor his legacy, Maurice treks to Albert's house and delivers his son, Alfred Ober, his father's sword. Despite his grief, Alfred is reminded of a vow he pledged with his father—to become a knight so that he could protect his land, the Albert Dominion.
Under Maurice's tutelage, Alfred hones his combat skills to fulfill his promise. Training alongside him is Marius Casterede, an intriguing boy whose age seems to be more than meets the eye. Elsewhere, Pope Alexi Valdebron delivers the order to capture the missing princess and crowns Charlot D'Hortensia as the new king. Hortensia Saga is a tale of camaraderie and determination as Alfred, Marius, and Maurice work together with friends of past and present to bring forth light amidst Hortensia's dark times.

Hortensia SAGA — A Story With More Potential Than Its First Season Could Show
Hortensia SAGA is one of those anime that feels like it had the potential to become much more than what its first season was ultimately able to deliver.
Based on a mobile game, the series has a surprisingly ambitious foundation. Its world is built around kingdoms, political conflict, knights, mysterious relics, Magonia, and secrets connected to the past. There is clearly a much larger story behind the events shown in the anime, and that larger world is one of the series' biggest strengths.
The problem is not the lack of ideas. In fact, Hortensia SAGA has plenty of them. The main issue is how those ideas are presented and connected throughout the first season.
A Strong Story With Uneven Storytelling

I gather more proof every day that the people in here have no clue what makes a good show. The fact this one has this low a score is another piece of evidence.Im close to building a case at this point.
Now don't get me wrong, this isn't some hidden masterpiece with some pseudo science that nobody understands . It's actually quite a simple premise, a linear plot and for the most part it's predictable. But none of these actually make this show a failure. Because it does what it sets out to do extremely well. And the animation isn't half bad either. Characters are not very complicated, but they are solid and well enough fleshed out. As much as you could with this quite big number of characters in a short 12 episodes without sacrificing story or narrative. And before most of these special pow…

How the heck is this below a 6/10?
This an enjoyable medieval-fantasy anime. A good kind of generic, a kind that knows its own path and style while not outstaying its welcome. Moreover, it's a breathe of fresh air for a (relatively) recent anime that takes itself seriously amidst a sea of egregiously generic isekai and 'fantasy'.
No idea about the game, but I recommend this show for the following reasons:
-It consistently has 'good' 2d combat animation (there is bad 3d parts but they are tolerable.)
-The narrative REALLY felt like I was playing a classic JRPG adventure
-There are many characters, all with their own motives, who received an appropriate amount of character development and backstory in respect to their relevance to the plot.
-It successfully blends an immersive low-fant…

Honestly story feels like it could have gone places if things were elaborated on, but too much info is in the air as “unknown pasts” that clearly the characters know but not the viewers we can just assume. Like idk how to explain it well but its more like this whole anime is a summary that gives quick glances into another media without really elaborating it or portraying it fully… leaving a sub par experience…. Like it’s not bad, it’s pretty good in certain key points, just kind of bad where it matters. But hey i watched all 12 episodes so i guess i was good enough to fully watch….

This anime had a lot of potential to be a solid 6 or 7 out of 10. The story was alright as long as you don’t think about it too hard and the animation and soundtrack are pretty great. It’s honestly a passable watch until the last two episodes. The ending left me completely unsatisfied and honestly shocked at how terrible it was. Most of the conflicts were unresolved and the big sacrifice at the end was completely undone in what might be the worst case of Deus Ex Machina I’ve ever witnessed.
To summarize, it’s a 4.5 hour mobile game ad that’s just as disappointing as the 30 second ones.

Hortensia Saga is a kind of melodrama about a kingdom and its allied dominion. The story is about a princess trying to take back the kingdom while fighting supernatural beings.
The plot had some potential but the story and the events were written far too horribly and the characters never got a single chance of development. It was some sort of melodrama, unnecessary sad scenes, too much friendship power, and a lot of unexplained things. The antagonist and side characters never had any depth, to begin with, and the protagonist never got any development. It was just one bad fight and he learned everything about the situation. The character of the maid gets pretty annoying at one point with the screeching voice and over-excitement. The animation was alright although the use of cgi was terribl…

The truth from minute 1 seemed like it was going to be bad, but I'm wrong, it's terrible. I spent my time watching this which cannot be called anime because it is a real rubbish. If you're thinking of seeing this do yourself a favor and don't watch it, it's going to give you cancer. Don't see it.
It has nothing good, the animation is lousy, the character design is generic, it has nothing that makes it unique. The soundtrack is bad, the plot moves very slowly, each episode becomes eternal, you don't wait for the moment for it to end so you can kill yourself for watching audiovisual cancer. You can tell it's a very bad story with little desire they made this anime, if you want to torture someone put this anime on it.

the story it self is quite good and the plot twists were pretty entertaining, i would say the weakest point of the anime is its characters , the characters were so weak and very 2 dimensional and unfortunately couldn't carry the story which caused the entire show to fall apart. the story was good but a bit rushed and the ending was a bit of a shock but nice. it had so much potential to be a fantasy gem but couldn't make it the VAs r some of the big names in the industry which was nice. but overall it absolutely doesn't deserve that very low score it has

As someone who has no understanding of its adaptation, Hortensia Saga was an incredible anime from its start. The animation reminded me of Mushoku Tensei, and its character had an incredible backstory. Everything seems well woven together, however, what made it felt incredibly difficult to explain was that why it felt bad/incomplete. Firstly, I think that Hortensia Saga could have been a much better anime if the story wasn't as straightforward and tried to squeeze as much content as possible in 12 episodes. The pacing of the anime felt rushed and it feels much faster-paced than most of the anime coming out this season. Secondly, I think that the ending should have been done in a way that leaves a viewer with a pleasant ending, however, the story ends in a way that it leaves a bad taste wit…

BIG SPOILERS AHEAD:
For the first 11 episodes I thoroughly enjoyed watching this anime, I even held it in relative hig regard. I've always known that it wasn't a good anime, it had a lot of fundamental problems, but I still liked it. I liked the characters, I liked the story and probably above all, I liked how it felt a lot like a Fire Emblem anime. But the 12th episode kind of killed the guilty pleasure enjoyment I had from this.
Like I said before, I like this anime's characters and, to an extent, the plot. I also really like the OP and ED themes. With that out of the way, let's talk about what went wrong here.
Hortensia Saga is a very generic anime. Not that it necessarily means it is bad, but unfortunately it felt like it never tried to do anything unique, and when it actually tried…

This anime is nothing interesting but somehow I like it and watch it until it runs out.
I like the graphics and animation during sword fighting and for this story it seems normal (I'm not saying the story is bad lol), I like the opening song as well as the ending,
For Cgi I don't really care, the voice actors are good too, one thing I don't like is the ending because I think it's hanging and I also know this anime won't get the second season, I want to play the game but it can't be on my laptop because the specifications are low and I hope there will be a second season.

This is another generic fantasy gacha adaptation which is a little better than one would think from this type of show.
The beggining to no surprise is as the synopsis mentioned from there it turns to episodic allies recruitment episodes or so you would think, those episodes are connected to the main plot which is a little deeper than you would expect from this show with a decent small twists on it.All episodes had decent pacing to it expect the last which went a little too fast and while the ending does not leave you with many questions it does end in a way that you ask yourself what happens after it since it is a gacha adaptation after all.
The character designs are a little above generic but pleasing to the eye and the animation is decent and consistent.
The voice actors are very fi…

although this anime itself is not too outstanding in any ways, the overall storyline and character developments have gotten my attention and interested me into this anime itself, I agree with hortensia being a mediocre anime, there's really not much about this anime that can lead to it one of the great animes, but despite all the negative sides to this anime I found it very entertaining to watch
i thought this anime was quite average considering the timing of its release and the overall storyline for this anime, this anime came out basically the same time slime S2, re-zero s2p2, and other big hits came out, this covered up the anime's potential quite a lot, therefore I believe it won't have exactly too many sales and end up like animes like sukasuka or blackbullet.
if your just wanting…

So Hortensia Saga, well is a good anime to say the least. I speak this, keeping in mind that I have no clue of the original game to begin with.
First of all to give an overview, the plot of the anime was interesting to begin with, the sound usage was great if you count the OP and ED in the same category, definitely made my playlist, the characters and the character traits were a bit cliché' but the development as the story moved on was good. The art on the still frames, and the art for the environment was really good, but the fights and action scenes can be a little weird at times. As for enjoyment, the last 3 episodes gave a lot of excitement, and thus the story was able to present itself in a convincing way.
Now for why does it a get a 6? this is going to be a mixed with some spoilers…

Hortensia Saga is an odd one. On one hand, it’s yet another generic fantasy gacha adaptation. On the other, it was actually quite enjoyable for me.
I’ll be quick and brief with this one, everyone knows I am easy to please with anime. Story doesn’t have to be top notch or revolutionary, I like good character interactions and waifus. Hortensia has neither. The plot does nothing to actually draw you in and interest you. The characters are all shallow and have no real depth to them, other than the main antagonist whose motivations are still rather generic.
Despite the complaints, I actually did find the show to be fun to watch. It’s one of those situations where you know something isn’t good, but yet still like it. I definitely would not recommend this show to most people.
The CG in the s…
