I Dream of Mimi

Introduction

Embarrassed to be the only member of the Electric Brain Study Society who doesn’t own a computer, Akira Takaoka is thrilled when an electronics store advertises a PC9821 for only ninety-eight thousand yen. The deal is limited to the first five customers; unfortunately, by the time Akira gets there, the PCs are sold out. However, a mysterious man in the back alley offers him the exact same deal. Akira takes the deal, only to realize that this PC is not a 9821 version, but a 2198 version instead. It turns out that the PC2198 is an advanced bio-type computer that needs a nearly constant input of sperm to function! The PC2198, named Mimi, now has to defend Akira from the evil Apple Nacintosh sisters who want to take over the entire Japanese PC market. Will the embarrassed Akira be able to supply Mimi with what she needs to win? [Written by MAL Rewrite]

The history of literal objectification in anime is unparalleled, and this is yet another example. A guy accidentally purchases a female biorobot instead of a regular personal computer, and then everything unfolds according to the familiar "Chobits" and "Mahoromatic" pattern. Mimi pretty much has no computer characteristics specifically: she is both a combat robot and a dutiful, love-struck maiden. The anime is fully aware of its absurdity, and that's a good thing. The main merit are the three Nacintosh sisters, comival Apple's biorobots, who are fighting for the American manufacturer's monopoly. The nerdy friends and the female classmate, who reminds us that owning a personal computer was unusual and even strange not so long ago, are also good. The visual style is much more pleasant than…

I don't really know how the score is so low considering that the animation is great and for it's time and for the genre it's well paced. As an overall animation it's a solid 8/10. Nothing overstays its welcome, and it wraps up decently at the end. As an adaptation it's fine. It has a 9 for it's genre and animation for me, though I haven't seen much ecchi and have mostly seen just straight hentai but it's very well done for what it is, voice acting is nice and the character designs are wonderful and adapted well from the manga. Mimi's bow looking like rabbit ears is super cute! Are these people just retarded normiefags that can't understand that there's anime out there that isn't shonenshit? Obviously don't watch this if you're not 17+, it's hypersexual. But hypersexual cheese is good…

If you are into computer history and you're not shy of some ecchi content this OVA definitely is for you. The art is what you would expect from a classic 90's anime, the animation is stunning and detailed, that was not a surprise for me after leaning that the studio, OLM, was also behind the original Pokémon, Berserk and Yamato 2199. The protagonists, Mimi and Akira, are great. They make a cute and believable couple from the start. The whole gag with technical jargon, computer specifications and manufactures is quite entertaining and made me laugh in every episode. It's a light watch with a lot of ecchi fan service, comedy and action. It's a shame this OVA has only three episodes, it certainly deserved more.

I threw this on my watchlist because it was a 90s anime about computers that had an English dub made at some point. I thought it'd be fun to have on while doing something else. It turned out to be Chobits, but a porn. I don't want to appear like I'm ragging on it just because it's softcore porn, because I'm not. I was just not expecting that and not at all in the mood for it, so it had a distinct disadvantage. This is definitely not good. It's quite bad. It's not even terribly sexy on its own terms. However, I would be lying if I said there was nothing appealing about it. I did finish it, after all. I'm not sure I really have a mood for this, considering how much I disliked (the first episode of) Chobits. Whereas I felt Chobits took itself too seriously and was too slow on top of that,…

If you watch this show as a comedy. I bet that it's gonna crack you up at least once. If you watch this show back in the 90s, It'd give off a completely different feelings. This series meant to be a sci-fi, action kinda show, but the technology in the show is very out dated to the point that you kinda wonder how can they operate a cyborg on intel pentium 1. The visual was quit something here. It's far better than any hentai in 1997 and still look decent to me even now. Overall this is a very good hentai even by today standard.

Buttobi CPU (I Dream of Mimi), I can’t say I went into this show with a lot of expectations of quality but I came out pleasantly surprised. Though it is quite dated from a visual and audio aspect, it does do a good job of being pretty funny. If you like computer themed humor and very high echii content you’re likely to get some extra laughs and enjoyment from this. It’s listed as hentai... and it’s pretty close to the borderline. There are a lot of very adult themes and sexual humor and situations, so this isn’t for the kids, but it’s not porn either. There is a lot of nudity but everything is not shown like a normal hentai would. So I would keep that in mind before you consider watching this. If you have seen Chobits, this show is going to feel really familiar though Buttobi CPU is far m…
