Artiswitch

Introduction

There is a rumor doing the rounds in Harajuku: somewhere in the back streets of Ura-Harajuku, a witch and her mysterious shop serve those whose wishes have gone unheard, giving them an opportunity to unlock their hearts' greatest desires. Believing this to be an ideal arrangement, the proud apprentice witch Nina strives to fulfill her customers' wishes while her power and influence grow accordingly. However, not all wishes are meant to come true—and not all of them lead to a happy ending. As Nina is compelled to peer deeper into the human psyche, she soon discovers the dark side of a witch's obligations, and her ambitions begin to clash with her wish to comfort the entire world. Money coming in? A lot Receipts issued? Zero Understanding Lulu? Damn, it was easy The art style is not for everyone, as it is a very peculiar artistic product. However, it felt like the creators genuinely wanted to demonstrate something with it, rather than make it feel like a rushed or unfinished product. Some movements weren't always entirely convincing, but nothing too serious. The colors are fantastic, enriching the visuals and telling the story in a brief and direct way, despite the extremely short episode lengths. They give the series a distinct identity and make even simple moments visually engaging. The Lulu episode in particular was spectacular, and probably the highlight of the entire experience for me. Overall, a short but memorable artistic experiment.

The stylishness of this OVA ought to compensate for the lack of plot. It makes sense to focus on the visuals, since this is just 45 minutes of content split across six shorts. However, the CGI isn’t appealing enough to make this approach succeed. Half of this OVA are standalone vignettes, while the other half form an arc for the main character, who has a crisis of confidence. Over what, you might ask? Hard to say. A “witch” in this universe can grant people visions, transform them slightly, but not in a determinably solid way. It’s less about turning people into toads than life coaching them with traumatic visions that reflect their present and/or future. It’s too abstract to be gripping and too blunt with its messages to be haunting. The first two episodes are just okay, but the third ep…

ArtisWitch is a short anime with only 6 episodes, and each episode is less than 10 minutes. I found it to be unique in a way that I didn't know what was going to happen or what the characters were going to do. I really liked the art style, animation, and how colourful and whimsical it was. I really liked the main character, Nina. I feel like there is more to her story and how she became a witch, and the other characters too were interesting. The character design was good too; I liked how every character was different and had their own backstory without it feeling like it was being repeated. I've been in an anime slump recently, and this short one has helped me, so if you need a lil pick-me-up, then I do recommend watching ArtisWitch!

If this had been made as a full series instead of its current format, it could have worked well as a Netflix-style anime. The way it handles its themes and storytelling feels much more European than Asian. That said, the animation was by far its biggest weakness. I honestly felt like I was torturing my eyes while watching it. On the other hand, the messages it conveys and its overall artistic direction are refreshing and distinctive. Unfortunately, the K-pop-inspired, overly polished character designs and animation style just didn't work for me. I found them artificial and distracting. If you have plenty of free time, it's worth checking out once. Otherwise, you won't be missing anything if you decide to skip it. ///// Seri gibi yapılsaydı netflix tarzı bir anime olabilirmiş. This anime is a short webseries available on Youtube. At first I was put off by its low-framerate 3D animation and its limited expressions at times (despite the beautiful artwork), but the stories ended up being interesting and thougth-provoking, expecially the last ones. This anime's theme was about finding your true self despite the social pressure, but also about the darker consequences of some of your misplaced wishes. I'd recommed a watch, if you can withstand some of the artistic flaws. P.s: The music of the anime was also quite good. I liked the witch Nina and all the "clients", except for Akihiro in ep3. And IMO Haruka in ep1 wasn't the best girl to start with.

For such a short anime, I thought it captured the themes and was fairly entertaining. The one thing that I should mention is that it wasn't an entire story and more like a story in each episode. There are ways to pull off this concept, and I think this anime managed to do it. The underlying conflict was the key turning point and the transition from the stories to the main character's backstory and wanting to fulfill others' wishes herself was well-written. The way the later characters wishes' start to crumble really affect the main character and made the story much more interesting. I don't necessarily have much complaints, just the anime feels a bit empty because it's so short. I do love the music that they put in for each character that goes in the witch store though, and the outro is al…

I've watched this twice already and have recommended this to two different people. So yes, I recommend this to you reading this! I'll be rating different aspects of the anime, starting with the animation style, art and atmosphere: Artiswitch is one of the most unique anime I've ever seen. And that is due to the art, animation style and atmosphere. Watching those 6 episodes was the first time I've appreciated 3D animation. Despite it, the anime still felt hand made, which might be due to its art. It might be best described by the adjectives colorful, striking, artsy and cute-ish. One of the best things created by the art is the easily fast switching atmosphere. At first, you could feel at ease, the next confused and later everything could feel gloomy and scary. Perfectly fitting the story…

Artiswitch is one of the most unique animes I've ever had the pleasure of watching. -Story 10/10- The plot is quite straight-forward, a witch grants people's wishes, ultimately giving them a chance to shine in life and unlock their deepest secrets -Art/Animation 10/10- The art and animation was very unique, from time to time time I could tell the animation was done in a 3D program whereas other times it seemed like the animation was drawn in 2D. Character designs were so pleasant and I loved the artistic choices -Sound 10/10- I loved the voice acting and the songs, everything had so much emotion to it -Characters 10/10- Each and every character was different and catered to different people, maybe someone related to one character or multiple or maybe someone didn't relate to anyone at…

A pleasant surprise: Wonder Egg visuals, xxxHolic psychological episodes and a dark overarching story connecting things. Showcases Sunrise's S-tier CGI with content by freelance creatives. Amazing music, art direction, character and fashion design. Actually fashion design is a very strong suit of the show, thee pretty clearly were people from that area of expertise involved. With only 6x8 minutes the show still manages to go trough classic story telling patterns. It introduces the world and main character, then it adds darkness (teen suicide) to her "business as usual" episodic format. At this point it's heavily influenced by xxxHolic, just that the darkness overcomes the witch and not her clients. Then we get crisis, catharsis, backstory and a closed ending. Not too shabby for the runtim…

I absolutely loved this! Nina is such a well-written character and clearly shows her emotions for what they are. Haruka doesn't follow the norm of being either girly, or boyish, and is just herself. Mana feels the pressure of the people around her to be like them but also really wants to be herself. Akihiro wants to be recognized for his art but people choose someone else to idolize. Lulu (ruru) is specific in what she does and doesn't like, her wish was different than the rest and made me tear up seeing Nina's reaction. Tiara just wants Saki to be happy but that's not what ends up happening. And episode 6, made me cry so much. Nina deserves the world. It is quite dark but I'd recommend this to everyone. The CGI made to look 2D looks amazing. 10/10, would recommend.

I love shows like this so much!! Just for your info, my favourite show of all time is Madoka. So this show managed to win me over completely. And that just with 6 episodes which only take 8 minutes each. I got curious because of the pretty artstyle and went and watched them all on Youtube through the playlist. The music is alright. I was suprised to see one of my favourite producers (Giga) on the setlist. So they scored points for that one. I'm a gigantic fan of these shows that start out lighthearted but then get absolutely emotional. I totally reccomend watching if you enjoy the madoka series and its spinoffs. It leaves you crying (me at least) because their stories are just so relatable. I feel like this show has a very nice and strong message, and more people should watch it! If you…

I thought that this show was incredibly written with some of the best music/soundtrack i've heard in a while. Each episode is only about 8 minutes long, though in those 8 minutes, the story and world building is incredible. Each character has a great amount of depth, complete with flaws, and creates a complete story. The animation could be choppy with odd physics at times, such as the climax of episode one, though overall I enjoyed the unique use of 3d models and 2d backgrounds. If the frame rate was just slightly higher many of the animation issues would be resolved. Each 'peer deeper' moment had its own unique setting and animation, along with a motif, which is refreshing to see. I enjoyed this show immensely, though I know 3d animation is a turn off for a lot of people.

It is artsy and over the top, but in a good way. The episodes are short, but the director manages to make us fall in love with the characters instantly. Everything is well thought the characters act in refreshingly real ways, never acting forced or over the top. It all feels close to heart, intimate and bittersweet. Without spoilers, I'll just say that the anime's theme is people's inner wishes or inner true self, and about how hard it is to be true to our nature in a world where everything is judged, everything is online and we put such high expectations on ourselves. This message reaches not only the viewer, but also seems to defend the anime itself, which is so different from anything I have ever seen before. It screams "This is me, deal with it" and ask us, the viewers, to also ste…

If you want a short, experimental anime that you can watch in one sitting then this is it. It’s stylish with unique visuals and songs, and isn’t afraid to use these to its advantage when tackling its themes. It only gets better and better as it goes with a gradual transition into a darker tone. Artiswitch is ultimately about wishes and their consequences, both good and bad. It’s not the typical “be careful what you wish for,” type moral either. It boils down to what the character themselves wished for in order to be happy, and this is shown through both simple and extreme wishes. It leaves a lot up to the viewer to decide on, never outright stating the outcome of a wish as being right or wrong. It never comes across as pretentious either, with many of the issues raised being able to be ti…
