Reincarnated as a Sword

Reincarnated as a Sword

Introduction

A nameless sword wakes up to discover he has been reincarnated from his former life as a human. With his power of telekinesis, he moves around this new world, acquiring several skills and abilities. When the sword comes upon a forest filled with monsters, he meets a young girl fleeing from a beast. Grabbing the sword, the girl easily defeats the monster. After introducing herself as Fran, she names the sword "Shishou" and officially becomes his wielder. The two set out to become adventurers, but unfortunately for Fran, she is a member of the Black Cat Tribe—a Beastkin group with a bad reputation. No member of this tribe has ever evolved into a mightier beast, but Fran plans to be the first and achieve her parents' dream. As Shishou promises to remain her sword until she attains her goal, they form an unstoppable partnership of impressive strength. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Reincarnated as a Sword is an isekai that is worth watching! The anime is about a man who gets sent to a fantasy world, reborn as a... sword! While the premise is, well, different from your typical isekai anime, the story itself shows to be rather interesting! We follow the sword Shishou (Teacher) who decides to become both the teacher and weapon for a cat-girl named Fran, and the two set off with the goal of evolving Fran to be the strongest Black Cat! The anime has pretty decent animation for it being a seasonal isekai, though, there are a few small times where the enemies of the show are 3D-rendered (Although it's only a small select few times). There are some great animation moments, especially during the fight scenes. The one thing I really liked about this anime was just how cute…

Overview: Stop ruining potentially good Anime by flooding it with your kinks. Premise: MC is guy in normal modern world who dies (hit by car? Don't remember, not important) and gets Isekai'd to another world. This is a "MC is aware of Isekai Anime" brand of show, so he understands the situation fairly well. He is reincarnated, however, as a Sword. A superpowerful one with all kinds of powers and abilities, as well as sight and ability to talk telekinetically. He comes into the possession of a Cat-Girl (Fran) after he frees her using one of the powers he gets from slaying a beast (all beast have crystals at their heart, their abilities are kept there, by slicing the crystal, he can absorb the power if he so desires). Fran's entire goal is to "evolve into a stronger being" something no Cat-…

If you go into this thinking "it's gonna be shit but at least the mc is cute" then the only thing you WON'T be surprised by is how the mc and the sword don't ever use 90% of their abilities even when they're super obvious, such as healing when damaged to the point of fainting when the healing skill is literally maxed out. The abilities they do use usually are illogical and not explained, and they early on and frequently use "3 skills/elements at once and without chanting" then later on suddenly she has to chant for some basic stuff and also use a "split mind" ability to use two skills in a row? At least the mc is cute, but they don't even take advantage of that part. visuals - decent audio - generic to the point of funny characters - bad writing - bad

The premise and execution are surprisingly good; the fight scenes are quite good, the jokes land well and the animation is gorgeous. In general Tensei shitara Ken deshita is a lighthearted fun experience, something to turn your brain off and enjoy some action + comedy, and I find the comedy notably funny. That being said, Tensei is not perfect. There are lots of expositive dialogues, and the presentation is very lacking. What I mean by that is that the story is fun and interesting, but it is presented quite poorly in regards to the storyboarding. 1st example of poor presentation: The show starts with a scene that, in chronological order, is the post-climax scene from the end of the same first episode. In this scene, the viewer is greeted with an expositive useless monologue by a narrator…

Seeing as Reincarnated as a Sword is effectively a shitty rip-off of the Reincarnated as a Slime concept, it makes for a surprisingly easy recommendation. Just answer the following prompts: 1.) Have you seen Slime? -> Yes. -> Did you enjoy Slime? -> Yes. -> Then you will probably enjoy Sword. 2.) Have you seen Slime? -> Yes. -> Did you enjoy Slime? -> No. -> Then you will probably not enjoy Sword. 3.) Have you seen Slime? -> No. -> In that case, just watch Slime first, then refer back to prompts 1 and 2. It’s really not any more complicated than that. The isekai genre has become oversaturated to the point that authors are now having their protagonists reincarnate as various objects and what have you in an attempt to keep the genre fresh – attempt being the operative word. There’s even on…

Another generic isekai in a JRPG video game world. In this case, the protagonist is the sword itself while the deuteragonist is its wielder, a catgirl child named Fran. Most of the JRPG isekai tropes are there, like the video game world, the disembodied voice of the all-knowing tutorial, cheat OP abilities, blatant racism and classism, cartoonish levels of discrimination and slavery, medieval european fantasy setting, you get the point. The sword is the standard level of isekai OP, being able to unfailingly obtain any magic ability and skill from anyone, equip and use any skill and magic unencumbered, gather enormous amounts of experience from simple encounters to max out any stat, and share them all (along with massive stat boosts) with his wielder WHO DOESN'T NEED TO DO ANYTHING, EARN…

Beautiful anime, lovable main character, kind and wholesome fantasy setting, just how I like it. Predictable events but it has a charm to draw you in regardless. Had everything a basic fantasy anime requires, with a decent power scaling. Art style and animations were great too. Lovable characters very generic for the genre. Well integrated characters reacted in a realistic way to the events. Enjoyed it thoroughly. Am a sucker for fantasy there is something about this genre I cannot get enough of. I try to find the special something which draws me in towards these fantasy adventure themes. No matter how basic or over the top the story is, I keep coming back to it and never gone back disappointed. Would definitely recommend it.

Fran is too cute. Overall, it's a wholesome isekai so far... sure many are discriminatory towards black cats, and Fran is a black cat... but the sword has such a nice relationship with her. He's like an older brother or something, it's so cute! Alright, since that review was too short to post I have to add things now. All I really wanted to say was that it's wholesome and Fran is adorable but here goes: It's a non-pervy isekai! How exciting! Obvi: some guy dies and is reincarnated as a sword, but it doesn't seem to be some weird perv otaku like in many other isekai. Sadly, this is a fresh take on isekai anime. During the first season of Reincarnated as a Sword we see Fran start on her journey for power. She simply wants to show the world that she can be strong. That she IS strong! Sh…

Surprisingly, the isekaied sword isn't actually the lead character for most of the story. The story is told from his perspective, but the plot itself is about Fran; the sword is content to serve Fran's wishes and pretends to be nonsentient when others are watching. But Fran being treated as the lead character is exactly what makes this series so good. She's a solidly-written character, and turns what would otherwise be an isekai power trip into a genuine and heartwarming rise of a hero. Her youthful innocence belies a level of bravery, ferocity, and cunning that even her sword is in awe of; yet the writing doesn't forget that Fran is still a child, emotional and dependent on others. The combination makes for easily one of the best protagonists of a fantasy story, one who manages to feel c…

People who regularly watch anime and see isekai and fantasy tags ether don't watch it or keep theirs expectation low. Just because in the last few years there were so many unoriginal and boring shows of that genre, so if you skip one of these, you certainly won't regret. On the other hand, you would probably know what to expect if you watched many isekais. Unfortunately, I didn't bear it in mind, before watching this. Hence, I'm going to describe my feelings without that condition. Partly, because I disagree with that. The visual is the least disappointing in the show. Despite being a light novel adaptation, fight scenes are top notch. If they had been more complex and prolonged, the anime would have been good from visual perspective at least. But this didn't happen because of a reason, t…

Imortant points: -Not an Isekai (the story goes - The gods took a soul from another world, wiped his memories and made him into a sword. If you remove the "another world" part, everything stays exactly the same because his memories were wiped clean anyway) - No fanservice, harem, echhi. At all. Fans of aforementioned genres should skip the title and head to the garbage dump where they belong. - Generic RPG fantasy world - elfs, gnomes, magic, skills, classes etc. - Extremely poor/dumb/lazy writing. The worldbuilding, characters, motivations, dialogue, well... everything really is just dumb. The core ideas are not bad, their execution is. - It is Wholesome. The heroine and the sword are OP AF and nothing bad can/will happen to them. - The hero of the story is not really a sword but the c…

Sword Cat Online. If you’ve ever found yourself asking the question “What if Kanna from Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid was a small cat girl wielding a giant, magical, isekai sword?” then Reincarnated as a Sword might just be the very specific answer to that specific question you’ve been pondering. One of two incredibly good isekai that aired this season, Reincarnated as a Sword might sound like a title conjured up by an isekai writer running out of ideas thanks to a very, very, VERY saturated genre, but if there’s something this anime isn’t lacking on it’s good ideas. The isekai genre standard is admittedly very (some would say shockingly) low so you’d think an anime where the isekai protagonist kills a slave trader instead of buying from one, a lack of a harem that worships the ground t…

Not at all recommending it, it has a slow pace of telling story and feels a lot boring, most of the episodes feel either useless or there are no developments to the character at all. Most disappointed isekai of this year for me. Heard a lot of good things before it aired but it shattered every hope of mine. The art style, animation and story were the negative points of this season and the characters didn't contribute much to the series. Most of the episodes of the whole season spoiled the experience for me. Didn't enjoy it at all, hope the next season if it ever comes improves a little bit so that the show could be interesting. I give it 4/10.

I will lead off by saying a few positive things about TenKen. First and most importantly, Fran, the preteen catgirl that wields the titular sword, is very adorable. Additionally, the action scenes are quite nicely animated when they put in some effort. The series also portrays slavery negatively and firmly resists sexualizing its 12 year old main heroine, which really should not count as praise, but is far from a given in similar isekai stories. Beyond that though, there is very little to recommend here. Virtually every character besides Fran and her sword is either annoying or unmemorable. The overarching story (Fran joins the adventurer's guild and attempts to rank up) is as lifeless as it gets, but not even in a relaxed "slice of life" way. There are plot things happening, it's just th…

Reincarnated as a Sword Most people probably would get turned off by "reincarnated..." on the title alone But honestly, this is one of those isekai that actually telling a complete story, with no your usual Edgy teenager self-insert protagonist and didn't betray their premises by turning the Sword into human so you can relate (Looking at you, slime) Because, well this anime basically Shounen wrapped in the isekai package Dead parent? gluttonous MC? start as underdog? Owning a unique power? yep you got it [Animation] 9/10 Hands down one of those studio you could see their effort being fateful and try their hardest to make the animation as well as they can despite the budget. The color palettes and overall animation are very standard but when it comes to action scene You can see the effort…

Reincarnated as a Sword is finally over and it is one of the weird reincarnation/Isekai entries. Story-7 A man dies and is reincarnated as a sword rather than a person/beast (in general). After reincarnated he finds himself in middle of a forest with all him prev life memories except him name. He accidentally meets with a Black Cat girl named Fran and Shishou (the sword) now shares his abilities with Fran and join the Adventure's Guild and journey together to make themselves stronger and evolve Fran to the next stage. The reason for how the MC got reincarnated as a sword is kept mystery and a small part of it is shown for a minute in a quick blurry flashback. Animation-7 Animation is good and consistent throughout except in a few episodes for the char design for enemies. Character-7 The…

Reincarnated as a Sword sounds like a boring gimmick, but it does a suprising job of mixing classic fantasy and isekai. The man in the sword is of course somewhat overpowered, but is stronger when wielded by an actual swordsman. As it so happens, a cute black catgirl finds him and he handicaps himself in a way in order to be her sword and protect her since she's actually pretty weak by herself. They have a nice, wholesome bond and the girl is very cute and starry-eyed like a kid in a candy shop. The action in the show happens to be pretty good too; there's an appropriate about of gore for monsters being chopped up with a greatsword. The skills and abilites are also very satisfying to see, especially in bigger fights with skilled opponents. It doesn't do anything crazy new in terms of iseka…

Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken a.k.a That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime. That's quite innovative for its time, plus Ranga as a huge but lovable doggo. Jidou Hanbaiki ni Umarekawatta Ore wa Meikyuu wo Samayou a.k.a Reborn as a Vending Machine, Now I Wander the Dungeon. Though the anime adaptation is coming soon, it's unironically the pinnacle of fiction that I'm so awaiting its eventual arrival. Kumo desu ga, Nani ka? a.k.a So I'm a Spider, So What?. Despite Millepensee's horrid-but-tolerable CGI, I can understand why the LN is highly praised for its originality. But what about Tensei shitara Ken Deshita a.k.a Reincarnated as a Sword? If I have to describe this show in the now oversaturated Isekai Reincarnation sub-genre, it is neither here nor there in the overall sense, only backe…

Isekais are a dime a dozen these days, and it’s not every day you find a really special one. I wouldn’t go out of my way to recommend this one, but what I will say is, it’s above average by isekai standards for sure, with good animation and lovable characters that make this show very chill and easy to watch. It has some good concepts, but the overarching video game aspects do hold it back a little. There are also some very unnecessary aspects of the show other than the game mechanics, such as the telepathy, which I’ll highlight below. STORY: It’s pretty basic, but it doesn’t really do anything very wrong, or step out of their lane. The one thing that stands out is that the person who gets isekai’ed isn’t really the main protagonist, but the helper to her. I really wish that the way peopl…

Rather than me talking about the pros and cons of this show, allow me to list a few of the anime's elements and how to enjoy it despite it being quite generic. How to enjoy this anime: 1. Do not go into this having high expectations. It plays off as a generic isekai for most of the part. Such as characters taking plenty of time to grant exposition dialogue to the audience as if they want to listen, characters playing certain tropes just for character development, no matter how rushed or forced it is (mean dude, supposed cool dude but actually has secrets, a girl with a weird fetish, etc.), which also means the side characters are nothing but stepping stools for the main duo. Just like the classic isekai setup. 2. If you are expecting a good main duo relationship, it does a decent job of…
