Just like the game. On one hand its a decent show, and a great, high budget adaptation, all things considered.
On the other hand, the core story is so bad that it hardly matters.
This is regarding all three seasons that are up so far by the way. The story in all three can be summed up very easily - anger causes war, and war is bad and won't end as long as there is anger. Wow, amazing enlightenment there, haven't heard that anywhere before! (sarcasm)
That's the main problem with the show, and the game, it doesn't really go anywhere. You're introduced to a setting, one that's not too original but does have its potential... And then it doesn't go anywhere.

A very visual pleasing anime. The animation quality and cinematic feeling is very pleasing to the eye. But looks can only get you so far. Its the content that really matters and thats where this falls very flat.
First of im not familiar with the game. So i feel i might not be the target audience herd so i dont want to be to hard on it why i give it a 6/10 despite being fairly bored by the show.

For a RPG adaptation, I usually do not expect much. This is a pretty decent story with good animation and a plot line that is understandable. This is not comparable to good anime like FMA or anything, but it is at the top of my list if I am only judging RPG adaptations.
The story itself is not unique. There's nothing new to the table on what's been done. The thing that makes it stand out is how well it is executed. The plotline has me invested in the characters. The style draws me in, too. Most RPG adaptations I have seen in the past have this off-putting feeling about the animation. This one has clean animation with a dark vibe to it. None of the characters or enemies feel out of place. The characters are also well integrated into the painted backgrounds.

This anime is a great combination of action, fantasy, and sci-fi genres. It has a lot of exciting and action-packed scenes that will keep you on the edge of your seat, but also some emotional and dramatic moments that will tug at your heartstrings. Surely this show's ratings are inflated by the fans of the game. I mean let's be honest. I play the game and while yes, the game has great story and yes, the game has great voice lines, the anime was without a doubt very slow paced and at times boring. It is practically word-for-word from the source material though so points for staying true there.
Like I mentioned above, if you don't play the game you will fall asleep watching this. The gravity of the scenes, the explanation for the world of Terra, the way the characters interact with each other; all of it would not make sense to a non-fan and the anime does little to try to explain any of it to people who are unfamiliar with the source mate…

Half Life 2 with waifus.
There is nothing to hate about this show, which is good enough already by current standards.
Lots of waifu material girls. Amiya is cute and likable. Exusial is also not too bad. Others can swim someone else's boat more. But they all are chill. The only downside is that they are not as creatively dressed as Dolls Frontline waifus, but these bulky jackets makes them practical enough. I cannot say I dislike their attires, I like them but they could have been better.

People who really like Arknights will probably really enjoy this. If you really like ambient lighting/photography, poorly written pseudo-war melodrama, AND cute gacha girl designs, this might be a perfect combination for you too. Otherwise, really not much else to be had here from a technical or especially a narrative perspective. Skip it.

As fellow veteran Arknights player even for my optimistic scoring, the high mark mainly comes from being able to finally see my favourite characters on screen, talking, interacting and stuff...

I think they should make a survey for the fanbase in-game about what they thought about the anime. I wish that they will improve the doctor's instruction in the battle. The doctor not showing too much that he has a talent in strategies which is kinda upset. They can surely make him talk more and give detailed and fast orders that have real impact meaning, not just " snipers attack the frontline and caster attack the backline" but something like "Snipers focus on some important points to spread out the enemies's formation, vanguard open ways for the defender and guard to further spread the enemies out and handle every single one of them. Mixed feelings since the show looks and sounds amazing but then has a dull story, and dialogue and just sort of feels like watching cutscenes between events. Like you play the action and then get the end bit and chat then the next and so on.
The story of course from a mobile game, but it doesn't really present very well. Episode 1 I considered dropping it until it all came out but people raved about this show.

Going in, this adaptation was always going to have issues. Not only does it adapt the weakest part of Arknights’ main story, it was produced by Yostar Pictures. On paper, this makes sense: Yostar got burned when they trusted another studio with Azur Lane, and they’ve largely done everything in-house since. The problem is that YP is a small studio, which — lacking enough resources or staff — forced them to outsource to various studios (Studio Palette, Studio Silver, Candy Box etc.) for Episodes 2-6. Add in a first-time director in Yuki Watanabe and a limited budget — Arknights is profitable, but nowhere near the levels of FGO or Genshin Impact — and you have a recipe for disaster. Game adaptations or game advertisement anime have always been a mixed bag. Whether it’s terrible plot writing, boring worlds, or obvious pandering, game adaptations always are met with skepticism. However, Arknights: Prelude to Dawn is an example of one done with passion and love for the source material. I haven’t played Arknights myself, but I would imagine many Arknights players would be satisfied with this adaptation and loved how their favourite characters came to life. Of course, that isn’t to say that the entire eight episode run was flawless, as I did find a few parts rather heavy on exposition and a bit boring, but overall, it was quite a treat to watch, and one of the better shows to come out this season, in my opinion.
