The second season of Hell’s Paradise continues to remain an action-focused, entertaining experience, but lacks in various other aspects, particularly the writing. Positively, the production quality has improved significantly, and delivers some standout highlights and stylistic animation approaches. Some moments, encounters, and flashbacks had solid visual impact and weight. On the other hand, this addition struggles even more with storytelling. Extremely powerful adversaries are reduced to non-threatening levels, mortal wounds are inconsequential, fake-out deaths commonly force stakes, power systems, and related terms are convolutedly explained through dialogue, characters remain stationary while communicating during battles, and introductory antagonists have no relevance until the unwarra…

Currently super underrated and understandably so, as more episodes still need to unfold. So far, the anime captures the story very well. The animation is eye candy and the fight scenes are spectacularly directed! Maybe viewers will better understand the true depth of the story once the final season unfolds and concludes. I think the Departure Arc will bring everything together. I just finished the manga, and im blown away by how fkn BRILLIANT and PROFOUND this story is. It engages the mind and touches the heart so powerfully that it compelled me to write this review. While reading the final volumes of the manga, i found my eyes welling up periodically. It absolutely delivers the concept of the Tao Te Ching, the I Ching, and other Eastern philosophies in its' own imaginative fashion AMAZI…

Second season makes clear that Jigokuraku has always been just another generic shounen. - Main characters are sidelined to make room for twenty backstories for every secondary. - Every character has only backstory and is one-dimensional. - Full chapter flashbacks for characters about to die. - The show constantly tells you that they are about to die, they are dying right now, but the end of the battle solves blood loss, being a punchcard, having your throat slit, and other similar trifles. - Battle commentarists are useless. Do something else if the situation is so life-threatening. - Everything is shown, explained, or hinted as being one thing, only for it to be something else or just unimportant. - Whole chapters' worth of details about the mystical power is useless when characters can j…

I enjoyed this second season. The series takes a noticeably different approach compared to the first season, focusing much more on the power system, the origins of the Tensen, and the battles against them. Unlike the beginning of the story, which felt more like an adventure in search of the Elixir of Life on an island filled with strange creatures, mysteries, and a constant sense of danger, this season places much greater emphasis on combat and understanding Tao. I found Tao to be an interesting power system that fits well with the philosophy surrounding the island and the Tensen. However, I couldn't help but notice certain similarities to other power systems that already exist within the shonen genre. The ideas of sensing life energy, exploiting strengths and weaknesses, enhancing the…

Season 2 continues right off where season 1 left off. The gang continues to learn about Tao and the Tensen, while trying to steal the elixir of life, and make it back home safely. There's a lot of information, and Tao is still confusing as you will have a hard time remembering which element helps which, and which hinders which, and what is uhh...regenerating, stuff like that yeah. But I gotta say, despite all that I still like it because of one reason. The characters. IMO, the original characters who is left from reason 1, which is Gabi, Sagiri, Aza, Nurugai, Gantetsusai, Yuzuriha (my waifu), Fuichi, and Mei- makes this show. There's plenty of screen time for each characters to shine, and more backstory to help you feel a bit more connected (although it does feel forced at times). Each ch…

This season was mostly focused on fights and action. The animation and motion were excellent, but that came at the expense of the characters, who felt dull. As a result, I lost the sense of fear for their lives. The power system (Tao) remained vague, with its usage and progression not clearly explained. The story behind the island and its transformation was revealed. I was expecting something bigger perhaps something more monstrous or involving strange creatures but it turned out to be the result of human experimentation. Surprisingly, this was convincing to me, as human greed can be more dangerous than any monster. The dramatic element was weak and almost nonexistent. The most notable part was the story of Chrysanthemum and Peach, but it wasn’t explored in enough depth. It seems that…

I enjoyed the first season but this second season just pissed me off tbh, I got so annoyed how Tao just magically resolves everything, every single episode or new fight there’s just something new about Tao that just wins them the fight, it’s this convoluted “magic” system that at the end you just space out because it just doesn’t matter you just know the main characters are going to win. The characters became VERY bland, I really liked gabimaru I thought he was my favorite character on the first season but he became boring too, I honestly couldn’t care less if a character died or not honestly (spoiler alert kinda) I wish it happened at least it would be more interesting somehow

This is the first review I am providing. The second season of Hell's Paradise, the way the events unfolded in this part was e…

The first season felt solid with the story, character building and animations but this season was definitely a bridge to the next. The same conversations are rehashed, and old scenes are constantly revisited more than they should be. It has been three years and there are other things MAPPA are working on, but I am sure with the content they had, this could have easily rivaled the first season and made for an excellent conclusion of the series. Overall, it was a slow start but still enjoyable and I hope the conclusion of this series is worth the lack of content in this season.

Hell’s Paradise season 2 continues to be a decent action series, filled with assorted elements that both keep me interested and make me a little bit more hesitant to continue every time I boot up a new episode. The introduction of more standard shounen battle elements in regards to the functionality of tao gave the series a strong heading in terms of structuring the fights for this season, yet it still ends up not making full use of the tools at its disposal for either strong character moments or compelling battle strategy, especially with Nurugai being dead weight for most of the run time. Much like Jujutsu Kaisen, this production also managed to shed many of the compositing issues seen in previous seasons, though not to quite the same extent, and while the monster designs are exceptional…

Second season of jigokuraku and they able to maintain the consistency and quality of its story and production. In s1 everything was making u confused and wondering about the world building and power systems, it was like a big mystery. In s2, the mystery unfolded and they explained it all with backstory about the island, and more explanation about the power systems of tao. And in s2, i like that the algojo and the prisoners were working together to get out of the island, they were bonding really well and i love their dynamic. And for production, it was the same quality of animation, and scoring from past season. All of them were nice. Although fighting choreo weren't the best. Overall im excited if there are any s3 incoming. Good quality of story and production from mappa!

This season starts out weak in terms of animation quality, pacing/story, and overall tone (resorting to what feels like fanservice vibes at times, when it has been established that the studio is fully capable of depicting these themes in a mature way). The series picks up a bit at some point, but the pacing still feels stilted all the way up until the last episode. "That's it? That's where season two ends?" is what I said out loud at the end of the twelfth episode. It doesn't feel like we moved very far, and it took us 12 episodes to get here. The character cast feels too big for what's going on, as the fight sequences tend to highlight only a few of them. A lot of the characters take a backseat and are reduced to one-liner quips like "don't tell my brother what to do!!". This creates…

The voice actors did great job in this series and they made it really fitting to each and every one of them. The sound effects and visual effects are all top quality, the colorful scenes reminds me of Demon Slayer. I liked the story in this season, the variety keeps you interested. Plus it was nicely paced, most of the time I didn’t felt it was rushed or too slow. Animation was like the first season very good, i had no complaints. Sadly it seems it wasn’t very well received by the community, but it is overall good to watch.

An excellent sequel! As someone who was already familiar with the manga before the adaptation, I had certain expectations and a more critical eye. Fortunately, I can say that this season delivers very well and does justice to the original material. It's an adaptation that understands what makes the work interesting and manages to translate that into anime with great competence. The animation is undoubtedly one of its strongest points. The fight scenes are extremely well-choreographed, dynamic, and engaging, managing to maintain that captivating rhythm from beginning to end. But the highlight, for me, is the flames. There's a very evident visual care in them; they aren't just generic effects, they seem truly "alive," with their own movement and intensity. At various moments, it even feels…

For a anime that is advertised as an edgy shonen show, it refuses to kill major characters. There is plenty of violent death but it is mostly ancillary characters that are given little or no developement. It is both very violent and toothless with character deaths. Fights end up lacking tension because no one of importance is in real danger. While the animation and direction can be striking in particular scenes, it fails to be consistent in either. It is a shame because the main character Gabimaru is an interesting character. He is motivated by the love of his wife and promise of being reunited with her. Sadly, he is often sidelined to focus on the cast of a thousand, boring power mechanics, and political conspiracy. There are some cool fights and occasional moments of genuine awe but it t…

This is the first time I've ever given a review, and I really have to talk about this anime. It's absolutely incredible! I loved season 1 and had no expectations for season 2. I thought it wouldn't be anything special, but it's the complete opposite. It was a pure artistic masterpiece. I rewatched all of season 1 to catch up, and I literally binged it in one go. It's been a long time since an anime has given me so many chills. I think the author had a real gift when they wrote this masterpiece. I even wonder how it's possible that it only got an 8.3/10 rating. It's a shame for such a masterpiece. In conclusion, I would absolutely recommend this anime to anyone.

*minor spoilers* My take on Season 2 is quite different from what I’ve seen from others. I watched it weekly and followed discussions along the way, and overall the reception seemed very positive, with many viewers being impressed. However, for me, Season 1 felt much more solid. It had everything - mystery, tension, meaningful character development, and strong action centered around the main character, Gabimaru. It felt balanced in every aspect. In contrast, Season 2 spends around five episodes in one location, mostly focused on preparation for upcoming battles. This kind of buildup is not inherently bad, but here it feels a bit stretched, which makes the pacing uneven. Instead of steady progression, the story frequently pauses to shift between different characters and similar fights a…

As you can see, I'm delighted. Everything about it is made to satisfy my taste. Let's talk about things that I loved the most. First, it's the "mythology" in jigokuraku. I absolutely adore every version of mythology and they made it even more fascinating here. It has a scary, mysterious vibe that perfectly fits the whole storyline. And speaking of the story itself...it only gets better and deeper. The more you watch, the more invested you become. The action and animation are top tier and colors look like they're from another world. It was a pleasure to watch the characters fight (clearly not a pleasure for them, but you get my point). The character development and their backstories are what made me tear up a bit. (episode 10 is still one of my faves). Also, hell's paradise is the first…

How far will one go to reach salvation? Ask Gabimaru, the man who was once sentenced to be excuted on death row. He has a lot to prove this season with his convictions. And to be honest, Gabimaru's character growth has a lot of potential to be told. This season explores that potential with the rest of his expedition team. Watching Hell's Paradise Season 2 casts the similar feeling as the previous season. The dark fantasy reminds us the brutality of some characters such as Chobei and his barbaric transformation. Again, we follow Gabimaru and his story. His past has made him the person he became today and he still challenges himself beyond the limit. Strangely enough, he begins this season with a case of amnesia. It doesn't take long for him to realize who he is again. It's his own identit…
