Kujima: Why Sing, When You Can Warble?

Introduction

In the autumn of his first year of middle school, Arata Kouda meets Kujima, a strange creature that sort-of looks like a bird. Since Kujima is hungry, Arata brings it home with him... But because of his older brother who failed his entrance exams, Kujima gets carried away by the situation and ends up freeloading at the Kouda residence. He says it's just until he makes it through winter, and the warmth of spring comes, but... (Source: Shogakukan, translated)

If you like slice of life shows with slightly absurd humor, no fan service, wholesome family dynamics, beautiful countryside scenery with plenty of ducks 🦆🦆🦆 of course, I'd recommend this to you. I enjoyed every episode of this show... except, sadly, the last episode, which was pretty much just two montage sequences set to new music tracks. The dynamic between the new human/bird hybrid specie Kujima and the more chaotic characters like the older brother Suguru, the childhood friend Makoto, and the single appearance of the... was it the older cousin?... were very amusing and made for the most memorable episodes. My favorite parts were always the ones with the gags about Kujima's very unique longboi appearance. The sneaking into school and the photo shoot episodes in particular were hila…

The anime “Kujima: Why Sing, When You Can Warble?” is a lighthearted, family-friendly comedy series, beautifully complemented by the serene scenery and calming atmosphere often found in iyashikei anime. Despite being frequently overlooked and relatively unknown, resulting in a small audience, this series is truly a hidden gem worth discovering. It offers a heartwarming glimpse into harmonious everyday life in Japan while exploring a unique cultural exchange through food between Japan and Russia. At the heart of it all is Kujima, a mysterious “big bird” from Russia who arrives at the Kouda family’s home in Japan and stays with them until the end of spring. I highly recommend giving this anime a chance! If you’re looking for something funny, wholesome, relaxing, and genuinely heartwarming,…

Wait, wait, wait... why is the score only 6?! 😭 KUJIMA UTAEBA must be 1000/10 ❤❤❤❤ If you like slice-of-life anime like Natsume's Book of Friends (jp : natsume yuujinchou) , you MUST watch this! I really recommend it 🥰 It's been a long time since I watched this kind of hidden gem anime :"D Kujima is so funny. I love this anomalous bird 🤣 AND... BROTHER SUGURU, WHY ARE YOU SO DAMN HOT?! 😍 Damn—! I love him so much aaa 😍😍😍😍😍 ANYWAY... if you're a big fan of slow-paced slice-of-life anime with peaceful soundtracks and comedy, you MUST watch this 💕 The vibes are similar to Natsume's Book of Friends and Kimi to Boku 😆

There are two types of people. The ones who will see the bird and be disturbed and the ones who will find it the cutest thing on Earth. So to save everyone time, watch episode 1 and you will immediately know if this show is for you or whether you should stay away. Personally, I adore that Russian bird...the way it speaks, the way it moves, the way it looks - it melted my heart every single episode...So for me this was probably so far my favorite slice of life. It was wholsome, cute , funny and the music and voice acting were 10/10. The only reason I am not rating this higher, is simply coz to get a 9-10/10 a story has to stick with me long-term which since this is more of a vibe than a story, it probably wont. But for a nice chill evening, it a perfect show.

It is a slice of life show that doesn't pretend to e more than it is but still it show endearing chracters learning to be a familly again through a goofy humanoid bird . The production is perfect from good animation , amazing soundtrack and a surprisingly subtle narration that is deeper than expected from the genre . An awesome show that felt personnal and that manages to make you part of the main familly . You folow them through their rather normal daily life and their hardships , they evolve together in a calm environement supported by an incredible and effective soundtrack . Yes my note is high but the anime is everything that it aims to be it doesn't need more therefore it is perfect to me .

The story seems like a peaceful slice of life... until the damn antichrist himself shows up. Kujima isn't trying to be ambitious. It's a run-of-the-mill slice of life... with the minor exception of a bipedal, flightless bird that speaks Russian... a minor detail. The anime tries to be wholesome, but the bird ruins it. It interferes in weird, strange, and sometimes downright disgusting ways. Not because the animation is grotesque, but because that bird is the last thing you'd want as a roommate. It eats grotesquely, drools when it has cravings, and never shuts its damn mouth. The story is about friendship, reuniting a fractured family, reconnecting with old friends, living with your family, and all of that is fine. It's just that the bird steals the show, making it hard to grasp the true m…

"Kujima: Why Sing, When You Can Warble?" has the quite odd and interesting title. As we have this bird creature called Kujima. But don't let this hidden gem of a show fall under the radar. It is a strong Slice of Life as it showcases the meaning of family and finding a place to belong. The headline is about Kujima, who finds himself in Japan after migrating from Russia. The strength of this show is its character. The biggest is the showcase of Kujima's effect on the cast. The biggest shown is with Suguru. For older fans, they can relate to and empathize with Suguru. But truth be told, the entire cast is endearing. By the end of the show, you will create a connection to Kujima like the family does. Studio Hibari is responsible for the production and does a really solid job. Nothing mind-b…
