CGI has struck again and ruined yet another anime!!
Honestly, I'm fed up with studios destroying works with this atrocious CGI!!
Wandance is about dance, emotion, fluidity... and instead we get rigid 3D models that completely break the immersion.
A visual horror that ruins the entire point of the anime!!
The worst part is this unbearable mix of 2D and 3D. Going from a well-drawn character to a soulless virtual mannequin as soon as they have to do three dance steps is just nauseating!!
Either the studio owns up to their laziness and does everything in 3D (which would at least avoid that awful "uncanny valley" effect), or they take the time to animate it properly.
This is just plain laziness.
When a studio lacks the ambition to animate, it produces yet another mess that deserves the w…

After watching the whole anime, I must say that it isn't as bad as some people might think. The CGI is indeed not that great, however the story is quite engaging and interesting. The characters' design is also pretty good and unique. What's the most entracing is the subject of dancing, which is rather rare among animes. For a guy that doesn't know anything about that art, it was shown very understable and fun. The CGI is used mostly during dancing, and despite the fact it doesn't look that good, the dances actually look realistic. What's very good about this show is the artstyle. It's pretty and gives the story a nice look.
In my opinion, it's worth to give this show a try. If you can get used to the CGI, the rest of the anime is really solid and interesting.
So, if you are wondering ab…

Characters are charming and the stuttering/embarrassed to dance in public. Literally how I feel about singing/dancing. It sends a good msg that kind of just gets glossed over in many other anime. People are too used to 2d.
Seen a lot of both 2d and 3d and this is not as terrible as people are trying to make it out to be. Funny at times sure, but there are worse out there. I would even argue to say that as far as "dancing anime". There really isn't one out there.
The reason for that is cause it's insanely hard to animate dancing in 2d, especially modern dance, some shows have like traditional dance. Like shrine maidens or what have you, but none of them are purely focused on dance itself.
I would say anything close was maybe Yuri on Ice, but that is figure skating. Not purely a dance-…

Just loved it! I really enjoyed watching this anime. The story may not be very complex, but the focus on dance makes it feel fresh and engaging. Even if some parts are a little predictable, it’s still fun to watch because of the characters and their passion for dance.
The characters each have their own charm and personality, and they show both strengths and flaws, which makes them feel more real. Their reactions to challenges and competitions feel natural and believable. The art style fits the theme well, and the dance scenes are definitely the highlight. The movements feel expressive and energetic, and the music matches the performances perfectly, adding more emotion to the scenes. The CGI was a little weak in some parts, but since the story itself was so enjoyable, it didn’t affect my ex…

I saw people mocking the dances on Twitter, but I guess that's just Twitter? Because I watched this and I think despite the sometimes jankiness the dances are still cool to watch. Good story and characters as well. It's a good enough sports anime for me.
Yes, the 3D animations are fucking janky sometimes it's funny, but it's very enjoyable for me. I am definitely watching the sequel if they do make one. If you care *too much* about animations then surely you will start balding but that's your loss because the dances are cool enough to make you squeal even without a very smooth and polished animation.

Relative slow but steady world building. The characters is well written and the dance choreography is very good and creators cared for the details. I read the manga and this anime is the number one for me in this season at least for me. Only "bad thing in the anime is the dance animation" but i think they do this way becouse if animated in minimalist way the people will watch more the dance itself. I think the animation in dance is purposive to highlight the dance itself. + My opinion is the animation is a plus but good animation is nothing without a well written story.
After watching the full season my opinion not changed.Only con is the story slowly starts to build up but after halfway it begins to really shine.
Ps: Sorry if my English is bad i'm not native speaker. + this is my final…

Wandance is in my opinion the best hidden Gem of 2025. Sure... they use CGI boo-hoo.. Animating the dance scenes without CGI would be impossible unless they had infinite budget and time to produce the anime. The CGI brings the dance scenes to life. if you actually like music and dance then this is a must watch. You can tell whoever created this actually loves dance.
Now... Story wise... It's strong... The characters are very relatable. I wish there had been more time to look deeper into their motivations but I wouldn't trade the dance scenes for it. I'll pick up the source materials for the details that can't make it into the anime.
The soundtrack is great. I was dancing along on my chair on most episodes. the ending song and clip with On dancing is superb.
Could the animation be bette…

I expected nothing going in since I saw initial ratings were low, but Wandance ended up my AOTS. A nice dance sports series with a lot of heart and I think it did a good job in conveying the power of the dance performances despite the difficulty of the task. Also Wanda is very cute (On too, for that matter).
I imagine some people were turned off by the use of the 3DCGI in the dance numbers, but animating those normally would've been an actually impossible task, and the effects they used in them were very well utilized to convey the effect of the different dance techniques.

gost…

Memes aside, Wandance has a decent story. Memes aside, it looks as bad as any edit you've ever seen.
Wandance arrived with all eyes on it simply for being a Madhouse production. Unfortunately, it's a series that succumbed to the pressure. The anime is a co-production where Cyclone Graphics was in charge of CGI and motion capture. It's clear there was no communication between the studios because it feels like a team effort where everyone did their part and they just slapped it all together at the end. There are many points to address, so let's get to them.
1. CGI and Motion Capture: Let's address the elephant in the room. The dances are very bad and uncomfortable to watch. The problem lies mainly in the 3D character modeling. When you see how the motion capture was done, thanks to the vid…

To get the obvious out of the way: up until about episode 6, the animation for the dancing is bad. Like, really bad. Which is unfortunate, since that is an important aspect for an anime about dancing. But if you can manage to push past that, it gets drastically better and really makes Wandance a nice little sports anime worth watching. It has all the hype and relationship development that make a sports anime, with even a little romance sprinkled in. Overall, Wandance is an enjoyable anime, especially if you’re looking for a sports anime that’s a little different from what’s currently out there.

This is one of those shows that I picked up by pure curiosity since I have never watched a dance anime before and color me surprised I actually liked it very much.
I really like the dance breaks even though the CGI was stiff it didn't really bother me and I felt like the dances were still flowy and nice to watch. The animation effects when they were dancing were also nice to the eye in my opinion.
I like that we also got a glimpse of each dancer's characters. The characters had development and growth between each dance, we also got to see what they think when they are dancing and how they feel. The characters themselves were likeable overall.
The opening and ending songs were nice, very fitting to the theme and even the music used in the episodes was overall nice to hear and great piece…

I'm going to keep this short because the main talking point about this show has been thrown around on the internet a LOT so if you're here it's likely that you've already heard about it, this show has 3D animation with CGI in it, and yes it often looks pretty awkward.
They used real dancers to make all the moves realistic and accurate and if you're not focused on the poor physics and the models all the time you can genuinely appreciate the dance itself a lot more, and that's one of the things that this show actually does really well. It's very clear that it was a first for the studio, but you can generally see the quality improving as the show progresses and certain parts of the animation get more polished. It takes a bit og getting used to, but if you're not a stick in the mud about it,…

My English isn’t perfect, but I’ll try my best to share my thoughts on the anime.
Overall, I really enjoyed the story—especially how the characters grew and how dance was portrayed in such a unique way. I don’t know much about dance or the dance world, like how each style is presented and things like that, but something that really caught my attention was the information the anime shared with me. I love learning, and when the anime passed on that knowledge, my eyes lit up.
That said, I feel like something was missing in the character development, especially with Kabo. I think he could have been used more in terms of dance, but I saw some extra development from him that didn’t really grab my attention.
My main criticism of the anime is about the 3D animation. The 3D really disappointed…

Getting it out the way early, I like Wandance. Yes, the CGI sucks and looks wonky, yes it takes getting used to. No, that didn’t turn me off from the show. I like the characters, I like the story, learning about dancing, the choreography, the music, etc. As a k-pop/j-pop stan, this was fun. Riehata, the legendary dance producer who’s worked with BTS and other big name groups being involved in this is crazy. It’s not going to be for everyone because a lot of people aren’t able to get past the CGI and that’s fair. It does look like a wonky PS2 cutscene 95 percent of the time and I understand it being a dancing anime means animation is extremely important. I just prioritize the other parts of the story so it wasn’t the end all be all for me. The two leads’ growth both as individuals and a tea…

CGI has turned this into the greatest cringe comedy ever made. I literally burst out laughing whenever the dancing started and I really don't think that was the intention. I'm wondering how something this bad can even exist in 2025. It feels like they found some ancient Windows 95 software and decided to use that for the 3D parts. I really need a behind-the-scenes documentary explaining what happened here. So are there any parts in this worth watching? No. The reason for that is because the manga exists and it's light years better. A hundred times out of a hundred I would recommend people skip this and go right to the manga.

The Anime Killed What Made Wandance Special - 6.2/10
This is a review of the Wandance anime and a comparison to its source material for the season.
Another example of a great series ruined by studio adaptations delegating work to lazier producers. I absolutely love MADHOUSE as a major studio, and whenever I see a series under their control, I know I’m going to get a great series — but that’s not the case here unfortunately. And that has been the case more and more for recent MADHOUSE titles.
Synopsis & Story - 7.3/10
Wandance is a beautiful coming-of-age story about dance, full of passion and attention to detail — but the anime adaptation feels like a wasted opportunity. The core material elevates the emotional impact in ways the anime more often than not fails to reproduce con…

Wandance (TV Anime) — Why bother defending Madhouse? Just read the manga while listening to the soundtracks.
2025 has become a year where many anime smoothly blend 3DCGI character models with 2D animation, such as "Rock Is a Lady's Modesty," "BanG Dream: Ave Mujica," "Apocalypse Hotel," "Uma Musume: Cinderella Gray," "Tougen Anki," and even "Medalist" by the infamous Studio ENGI. Even "Blue Orchestra Season 2" and the movie "Hateshinaki Scarlet" are considered on the good side of 3DCGI. However, studio Madhouse decided to bring back the "CGI ruins anime and needs to be gone for good" stereotype through Wandance by teaming up with the CGI studio Cyclone Graphics.
First, a shout-out to Japanese underground music, especially hip hop, house, and electronic scenes. Their inclusion in the anim…

Wandance - I want to Won a dance that's great and stylish...just not the way that works, like watching aliens move.
When was the last time that a dance truly captivated you? Is it something that at first sets it up like a routine and then slowly transforms into quite the show that is just *chef's kiss* perfect and then slowly leaves you wanting more? And most certainly when referring the trend back to the AniManga industry, we've seen series that put performing arts on the map come and go, and for the most part, the niche theme itself has almost a success rate of at least making you feel good when you watch shows like Yuri!!! on Ice, or in the case of the most recent example, mangaka Tsurumaikada's Medallist, which had quite the edge going for it with the gamble for studio ENGI to blend 2…
