I do not understand why this anime is so hated... Oh yeah people are little brats on the internet. Oupsie.
The anime has an interesting power's background, linked with animals. And the heroine has the Gorilla (the most powerful one).
The design isn't bad like a lot of hypocrites say. If you want a trash one, go watch the new seasons of Blue Exorcist, will discuss good one and bad ones after that. It's not wonderful but it's ok really, I liked it.
This is a Shojo, a romance, a light one. If you want heavy mood or dark one, you're not gonna like it. Not liking an atmosphere does not make it bad, you're just not the right target. Let's be honest geez.
The story is simple, and I think a lot of interesting plots could have been developed more, it's a bit too fast and easy, this the bad…

The whole experience was ruined by one character, the main one at that. But when I think about it, most FMCs in shojo are shy, which is slowly starting to bother me, since we don't see their development with most of them and they tend to stay the same. And what would I say about this work?
At the beginning, they introduce us to how FMC receives a gift from the gorilla god and thus becomes "exceptional". She is sent to the knights where she goes through training and demonstrates her abilities, but as soon as Louis shows up there, it becomes a typical sweet shojo. Since FMC is shy, I was bothered by her behavior (but that's a fest), because she took everything too personally. Something that could have been solved in another way, (and everyone would definitely behave like that) she knew how…

Objectively, this is a very mid-tier anime. It's got such an interesting premise if the wild title didn't give that away, but the execution is a very basic shoujo.
Subjectively, I'm having a blast and I don't know why. Could have something to do with Sophia being an uncannily accurate depiction of my high school self. It genuinely almost made me cry at one point, it was so relatable. The main couple is adorable, even if the romantic plot is basic and the boy has characterization flatter than cardboard. Does have some good hijinks and laughs from the incongruity of a socially anxious wallflower being imbued with the superpowers of a gorilla, and trying so hard to hide it because she's trying to lay low.

I am surprised this has a low rating on here. I'm a longtime lurker who hasn't left a review before, but I felt the rating of this one does it such an injustice that I decided to finally leave one!
This show is a fun watch. The concept is fairly unique and well-excuted; I plan to check if there is a manga with more content because I'd like to see more of the world built. The characters are likable. I loved the inclusion gorilla god's parallel reactions in the background of a lot of Sophia's expressive moments. The romance is cute and progresses earlier on, which is a big plus because I don't prefer the classic 12th episode confession.
The only downside is that I think they start to set up a more overarching plot of inequity related to the animal blessings, which is left a bit unresolved.…

"Let's be super progressive by being sexist and enforcing gender stereotypes!"
Zero depth, poor pacing, and superficial relationships.
Reads as a loner-girl's self-insert.
This type of story, or at least the way it was written, would have worked 100 times better as an otome game. The way the anime plays out also reads as a poorly adapted otome game. I was surprised when I looked it up to find that it was adapted from a manga/lite novel and NOT an otome game.
Moreover, we as the audience are supposed to side with the nobles since our MC is a part of the noble faction & a night that protects it. And yet, the anti-royalist faction has a much more compelling cause and is easier to sympathize with.
TLDR: Taylor Swift coded "feminism"

I watched this anime on December 5 and 6, 2025. In one word, yes, it is a good anime.
Story: It is set in a fantasy world where people receive the blessing of a beast or animal god. This blessing gives them special powers. Different people receive different divine blessings. Some get the power of a dog, some an owl, some a lion. Our main character, Sophia Reeler, receives the blessing of the Gorilla God. The type of god you receive affects your physical abilities and how your body reacts. With this power, you can see how Sophia goes on her journey and adventure throughout the series.
Vibe: It feels cozy and fun. There are moments where you may sense a bit of romance, but the main focus stays on friendship.
Rating: It is not a perfect anime. On IMDb it has only a 6 rating, but I believe…

One of my favorites I have seen of late.
I am surprised that this doesn't have a higher rating, it was a near perfect watch for me.
Some might find Sophia to have an underwhelming personality but if you think about it, she makes a lot of sense. A generally shy girl, finds herself in an introvert's worst nightmare, when her "blessing" is one that makes her the center of attention. One that places her directly in a very male-dominated career path before she can think twice. She makes me giggle with her inner dialogue and how she is still just getting used to her own immense power.
Louie is such a sweetheart and a kind gentleman, soft spoken, also shy - his way of speaking is so refined, right out of a classy piece of romantic literature. He makes such a lovely pair with Sophia. I also…

Gorilla no Kami kara Kago sareta Reijou wa Ouritsu Kishidan de Kawaigarareru ended up being way more enjoyable than I expected. The premise is ridiculous on paper, but that’s exactly what makes it fun—the main character being blessed by the Gorilla God leads to a lot of genuinely funny and surprisingly wholesome moments. I really liked how the show doesn’t take itself too seriously while still letting the characters feel likable and sincere. The dynamic between the heroine and the royal knights is entertaining, and the mix of comedy, light romance, and fantasy keeps it from ever feeling boring. It’s not a deep or complex story, but it knows what it wants to be and fully commits to it, which made it easy to enjoy. Overall, it’s a charming and feel-good anime that I’d happily give an 8/10.

Why even make your main character a (gorilla) knight if she's going to act like a damsel in distress the whole time anyway?
Sophia is insecure (as teenage girls tend to be) but she's a people pleaser to the point she'll sacrifice her own well-being entirely. She has no backbone whatsoever and forgives everything without even thinking about it. It doesn't make for a good main character and it is very frustrating to watch. Why not lean into her strenghts? She avoids using her physical strength because of her insecurities and when she does it's because she had no other choice. This doesn't change throughout the show. She's always saved by someone else in some way.
Overall, the story is mediocre at best. If you're hoping to get something more unique out of the show like the summary makes it…

In this romantic fantasy anime, 16-year-olds are granted divine gifts from animal gods. The good-natured Sophia Riller had actually envisioned a quiet life for herself—but she receives the blessing of the gorilla, a powerful combat blessing. And so she is nominated for knighthood, which she reluctantly accepts. There she meets the slightly older Louis Scarrel, with whom she falls in love.
And so she struggles with her incredible gorilla power, school, knight training, and her love for Louis. The 12-part anime series struggles with its own identity. There's a little bit of school life here, a little bit of training there, and then her romantic feelings for Louis – all under the aspect that she has incredible powers. Unfortunately, the story doe…

I have watched a bunch of romance anime, harem, reverse harem, slice of life, drama , truly disturbing ones. Even those were not so devoide of plot and characters as this one. The protagonists weren't actual characters, just surface level drawings, no progression, nothing. But i can excuse everything as long as it is entertaining. And this was absoltely boring, dulling and dragging me eisode after episode. I finished it becase my little sister wanted it and even her, who loved ya and romance, hated it. My lowest review ever is 7, and this will get 1 because i can't choose 0.

I watched the first episodes and was genuinely impressed.
Sophia is a well-established, lovable main character (at first), and side characters like Eddy and Isaac are equally endearing (also at first).
The world-building and concept are pretty cool too! The way they portrayed Sophia’s power being linked to the gorilla god and other characters’ powers to different animals was really interesting. Guessing which animal each character’s power represented was pretty fun. As a gorilla lover, I was very satisfied. ❤️
But as soon as mid-episode 5 hits, everything crumbles. It turns into a reverse harem romance, and the romantic writing feels like it came from a middle schooler. The cringe is so overpowering I really had to power through to finish the anime.
I also feel like the harem dynamic rui…

This anime made me realize I need to use my power of hate more so here I am.
The Gorilla God’s Go-To Girl is a fantasy romance that for reasons I still don’t understand has a comedy tag. I didn’t notice anything particularly funny, but sure, maybe I just don’t get good humor.
In this world, when you turn sixteen, you receive a blessing from an animal god. It can range from something totally useless to one of the most powerful beings. In this case, the Gorilla God is considered the strongest in terms of combat, and our heroine, Sophia, ends up with this blessing making her the ideal candidate to become a knight. Which is exactly what she doesn’t want…
When I first saw the cover (not the current one, but the original with just Sophia, Louis, and the gorilla), I assumed it would be more of…

I started watching it without any expectations, just to have something playing in the background while I ate. However, as the weeks went by, I found myself singing the opening song and getting attached to the protagonist. Sophia has just the right amount of sweetness to avoid being annoying, and although there are the usual cliché anime situations, it's still nice to watch.
In a way, this anime took me back to those times when I watched anime simply for the fun of it, not because I "had" to keep up with the latest series. It even made me wonder what kind of animal blessing I would like to have — a feeling I hadn't experienced since my teenage anime-watching days.

Six, six-six, the number of... ups! So, I'll break the tie? I'm in!
Well, Well, well. What do we feel about this anime? If nothing else, it looks beautiful. Lets go.
Visuals. Except one point, everything looks gorgeous. The off point is the general body looks. I don't know how else to explain it. The silhouette. The shape of the body. Beside that: good art style, gorgeous faces, gorgeous landscapes, gorgeous focus points (a flower, vegetables), gorgeous background layers. gorgeous, vivid color palette. Very nice designs all around. I'm even ok with the whole "lets make the mob people faceless" angle. I understand why, no problems there. The cinematography is ok. Well, even if it might lack sometimes, the drawings are decent enough for you to still enjoy what you're seeing. The animation is…

I didn’t know what to expect with such a peculiar title like The Gorilla God's Go-To Girl, but to my surprise, I found a light fantasy story with an unexpectedly well-executed romance.
I had my doubts about watching this anime because I’m not a fan of stories where humans transform into animals. I can tolerate it to a certain extent (like in Fruits Basket), so I was worried about how the concept of blessings would be handled here. Thankfully, most characters keep their human form. Only one character actually transforms, and no, it’s not the female lead.
The plot is fairly typical, an insecure girl suddenly gains immense power and everyone around her starts to take an interest in her. Despite that, it was surprisingly engaging. It’s not a reverse harem, which I appreciated a lot, the main…

I really wanted to like this show. It started off with a decent premise; unfortunately, the main character never really grows throughout the season. She starts out as a girl scared of her power and ends up accepting her power, but never grows a backbone. Even when the BBEG is beating up her love interest right in front of her, she doesn't grow a spine. Even when he grabs her and kisses her full on the mouth, the worst she does it bite him.
The writing is rather poor as well. For example, in the final episode, the main bad guy is fast enough to dodge/block bullets, but not fast enough to dodge a falling chandelier. Gorilla and main bad guy lock fingers as part of a fight scene - which is ridiculous enough, but then in the next scene, she's let go of him. She's stronger, but he's faster, l…

Right in the middle - nothing special, but not bad. Animation is that annoying style where anyone that's not a main character does not even have a face. Half the "animation" is pan and scan, so many scenes are like looking at a manga page someone is moving a camera over. The characters are 100% cookie cutter generic fluff, and the protagonist is your typical OP clueless teenager. But the author thinks they are clever and original, and it's - gasp! - a girl. That's the plot in a nutshell. Clueless girl with near super-powers has all the cute guys chasing her.
I almost feel generous giving it a 6, but it's a decent time-killer and fun. Albeit bizarrely animated. Seriously - how can they kiss with noses that look like they can slice bread? And of course everyone is chasing everyone else tryi…

Good enough anime, but a bit too generic, it's hard to blend all these genres and themes into 12 episodes.
The development of the couple's relationship is the main attraction of this anime, which is sometimes sidelined by the fantasy plot, so it is romcom heavy. In that regard it achieved what it wanted, can't say the same about the fantasy theme.
The fantasy side of the anime was just the right amount and perfectly fine up except for the whole Daybreak plot, there wasn't really a need for it to be the main plot for most of the second half of the anime, it's too ambitious for a 12 ep anime that's trying to be both fantasy and romcom. Instead of the Daybreak plot there should've been something that doesn't eat up that much screentime and doesn't take over as the main focus in a few episod…

The Gorilla God's Go-To Girl — Girl Power be amplified to the max...to then be the harem hotspot magnet of suitors? This is just too plain...
With every passing seasonal roundabout of shows that are a series of hits and misses, there is one VERY particular genre where I feel that it's more than the sole works themselves that create this lingering problem that is the "rise and fall" of their anime adaptations, which their niche target audience marketed to the rest of the world doesn't seem to come off as any bit legit at all. And my friends, that would be the classic Shoujo demographic, which has seen quite the dying trend of works that try to mimic every bit as possible like its Shonen counterpart, but that its rather limited vision portraying much to the fantasy and rom-com genres only e…
