Isekai Office Worker: The Other World's Books Depend on the Bean Counter

Isekai Office Worker: The Other World's Books Depend on the Bean Counter

Introduction

Overworked office employee Seiichirou Kondou would be fine spending the rest of his days in the same exhausting routine, but an unexpected act of heroism causes him to be sucked into a parallel world. His abductors, residents of the magic-filled Romany Kingdom, promise him a life of comfort as an apology for his accidental summoning. Unfazed, Kondou demands something that he thinks would suit him better: a job. After witnessing the incompetence of his new colleagues in the Royal Accounting Department, Kondou's workaholic instincts kick in, and he takes it upon himself to save the kingdom from complete bankruptcy. But this new world proves detrimental to Kondou. When the young and dashing captain of the Third Royal Order, Sir Aresh Indolark, saves Kondou's life, the two become something more than acquaintances. Though Kondou and Aresh initially struggle to convey their clashing values to each other, they slowly realize that this meeting will not only change their own lives but also the kingdom as a whole. It could have been so good!! the plot was fun, the side characters were charming, and the premise has a lot of potential, but the way they executed the romance ruined it. Do not watch if you're looking for slow burn or natural romance, or if you like enthusiastic consent. Do watch if you are willing to ignore that for the plot. It's not great, but better than most isekai plots. Author decided to use the "fuck or die" trope - they hadn't even said more than two sentences to each other when they started implied to be doing it! I was cringing so hard during every interaction because it felt artificial. They had no chemistry until the last third of the show, and a gradual work up from strangers to friends to partners to romantic partners could've felt so natural. The inability for the mc to…

This gotta be the most shallow BL anime I've ever seen. Everything is shallow. Not even just bad (and I have seen some bad BL, but they were not *this* shallow). There is no character development, the love interest likes the mc and becomes obsessed with him from the very instant they meet with absolutely no good reason, and when the mc falls in love with him in return, the only reason he comes up with is that the love interest saved him several times and takes care of him or whatever (for no reason), and they kiss and fuck like they are kissing and fucking a wall. Nothing changes everytime it happens, They act devoid of emotion and don't seem attracted to one another whatsoever. Or at least, I didn't see them express it in any normal, human way. The plot itself is also shallow and generic…

look this show isn't great but with every usekai i feel as though the hook is important. Literally it's just an accountant brought to another world where he does accounting things, but he needs to snuggle (and other things) hot men to survive. Yep. It's your stereotypical magical setting. There's hierarchy nobility etc. there's a miasma and holy maiden and holy shit it is literally just every other isekai you've ever seen. Except there are literally only two women in the whole show. Iconic. Anyways if you like hot anime men and are an accountant you will like this anime ig. otherwise it's alright ig.

Yaoi romcom in Isekai. Plot MC is an overworked salaryman, who gets caught up in the summoning of the holy maiden (random highschool girl) to another world. He decides to work in the royal palace, but due to lack of resistance to mana in this world, MC gets magic overdose. The black beast (romantic lead with black hair) must directly "inject" (yes, yaoi logic) his mana regularly to save him. Meanwhile, MC keeps improving the kingdom with his accounting/clerical talents. Review This is a mid series in many ways. The writing/setting, art/animation, voice acting/music etc.. are not impressive. The comedy is above average and brings a smile to your face, but nothing that would make you audibly laugh. There is no ecchi exposure, but lots of wholesome fan service. I am not exactly a yaoi fa…

This anime is not for everyone! You have to be a yaoi and isekai watcher to heart! Loved the plot as it shows a more mature way of seeing the whole isekai concept. Loved the main lead, kind of irritated by the protagonist but i get it. I just wished there was more romance, i understand that you are trying to make a more mature and realistic anime, but just give people what they want!!!! Overall, really liked it and hope there is another season, but at the same time there is only so much you can do with a plot like this one.

My first gay anime. I’m not counting *Boku no Pico*, which I watched just out of curiosity. I never would have thought I’d ever watch a gay romance. I tried yuri too, but they take it way too tragically, so I gave that up. And when I compare the two, GAY isn’t presented as tragically as yuri is. I don’t know why it has to be such a drama with them, even though they turn me on—if only they weren’t so unnecessarily tragic. I think I'm going to switch to gay romance. I don't believe that everything goes smoothly in gay romance, and when I want the same thing from straight romance, it's like pulling teeth. What’s the catch—why is gay romance better than regular romance?? They were already holding hands, making out, and having sex by the second episode—something that’s literally an impossible…

i'm all for a good BL, especially because anime in this genre (that are unproblematic and consensual!!) are few and far between, but this romance didn't feel as fulfilling as i'd hoped it would be. there was barely any chemistry or progression throughout the season, and it felt less like sincere feelings and more like kondou confusing survival-based dependence for love. and aresh wasn't helping with how he basically forced a domestic lifestyle between them and looked at anyone who so much as breathed in kondou's direction like "mine, don't touch." like, why is he jealous of a ten-year-old for god's sake T-T the exposition around the healing system aresh uses also felt underdeveloped and i wish it hadn't been since it’s so central to kondou’s survival. because why do you have to blow someo…

“Isekai Office Worker: The Other World's Books Depend on the Bean Counter” is what happens when an interesting character idea is isekaied to a bland, boring world. I don’t have much XP when it comes to BLs. To be fair I’m not a fan of most romances. I find most of them cringe, creepy and in some cases borderline toxic. This show is the last category when it comes to the “romance” part. Despite that I still had some hopes for it. I actually found the premise interesting. A story about a corporate slave that just can’t stop working, even in another world, so he gets a job at the royal accounting department. That was interesting. I do have a friend that is an accountant so I am aware, at least to a point, what kind of plot you can squeeze out of that. I was hoping that this would be a show,…

TLDR: it is a good anime with an interesting and compelling MC/plot. The romance and art aren't very good, but the story and MC make up for it. Actual review: I don't usually watch any isekai series, but I gave this one a chance because of it being a BL. The funny thing is that I ended up loving the story but not really linking the BL aspect of it. - Story: it is centered around the MC investigating and fixing the economic/political problems and corruption of the administration and church. The MC has a crippling addiction to work, but he also has the guts to face powerful people to expose their true faces. It has a calming but entertaining vibe. - Animation and art: not really good for an isekai but good enough for a BL. I had low expectations anyways (cries). The colors and general v…

It starts out as a generic isekai that gradually takes shape; it becomes funny and entertaining to watch until the story gets heavy, and they didn't manage to handle the romance well. Right up until the end of the anime, I felt like the protagonist didn't want to be with the captain, and I didn't like that since it's also a romance story—but it does have a happy ending. A predictable story, just like a typical isekai with a touch of BL. At first, I thought it would focus more on the romance, and that’s what I felt was missing. In my opinion, the protagonist should have appreciated his partner more, especially everything he did for him.

You don't often see yaoi or yuri isekai. But fortunately, the romance is not omnipresent in the anime. There are no kissing scenes every ten minutes or a steamy scene in every episode. The 12 episodes are well-paced. Isekai Office Worker handled its isekai aspect really well by clearly highlighting the differences between the two worlds and the impact they can have on the protagonist and the saintess. That includes differences in work culture, religious issues, tolerance to “magicules,” or simply technological progress. I also liked that the transported characters actually want to return to their own world to reunite with their daily lives and families — isekai stories tend to completely brush that aside. The supporting cast is just as interesting (especially Valtom). The character design…

The Otherworld’s Books Depend on the Bean Counter – Review I went into this looking for a chill, low-effort isekai to balance heavier shows, and ended up finding something way more engaging than expected. In addition, it’s my first real BL after 15+ years of watching anime so HURRAY 🎉🎊 Seiichiro is what makes this work for me. Instead of being overpowered, he’s just… competent. A regular salaryman using his skills to navigate a new world, and somehow becoming one of the most impactful people in it. He’s grounded, kind, and easy to root for. His relationship with Aresh felt a bit questionable at first, especially around consent, but it develops into something more natural over time. The show as a whole keeps a calm, “healing” vibe, focusing more on character growth and interactions than…

This show is not good, but it is very funny. Isekai no Sata wa Shachiku follows the story of Seiichirou, the salaryman who's favorite thing in the world is working and poppers. He gets accidentally isekaied to a fantasy world as an unintended tagalone to the holy maiden/romance novel FL, and then accidentally starts a romance with one of the holy knights. Said holy knight, Aresh, finds Seiichirou after he overdosed on poppers in an alleyway, and the only way to save Seiichirou from overdosing is to make out with him. Truly, we are witnessing great advancements in fujoshi technology. As wonderful as that above summary sounds, most of this show is pretty boring. The animation quality is Not Great, but not exceptionally terrible--just the usual lack of production values you expect from BL…

First of all, there aren't many isekai anime in the BL genre, but I don't think this anime handled that well. MC and female saint adapted to a completely different world too quickly, especially female saint. Even though MC is a corporate slave, he still take care of the country's economy and all that (I know that's the point, but why would anyone bother? Just go back to your country, you don't have immunity anyway!). Although the animation was average, the magic scenes were quite amateurish, as if no effort had been put into them; this might be due to the anime's budget. The emotions between MC and ML weren't explored much in this process either; it felt like who fell for whom and when was presented with too sharply defined lines. I don't know if there will be a second season, but they lef…

This was my favorite anime of its cour. I looked forward to it every week and it did not disappoint. It was adramatic, it was funny, and I had a good time. The characters were easy to root for and entertaining. I liked that the focus was less on the typical holy maiden part but on the guy who accidentally traveled with her, which allowed for things to feel a bit fresher. I also liked that the romance was part of the adult cast which also allowed for things to feel fresher to me too. I would definitely watch a season 2 but if we don't get a season 2 then the ending was good too. If you like MLM slash type anime, then you'll enjoy this one. If you want something a little less melodramatic at times you might get frustrated by this one.

while the show has some serious issues regarding character progression, this was definately one of the shows i looked forward to every week. this is not gay-bait, this is not simple BL, this is a gay romance anime with the plot mostly being progressed by the MC seichoro kondou's general incompatibility with the world around him, both in terms of magic and his personality. a majority of the shows plot revolves around seichiro refusing to be comfortable, leading to him getting into trouble, pissing off people, working himself to the bone, and ultimately being saved by aresh in some way, shape, or gay sex. (if thats a red flag for you, you wont like this show. the intimacy from the fate stay/night magic transfer sex is a conceit you just have to grant. sometimes its romantic, sometimes its co…

This is one of the best isekai anime I've seen in recent seasons. I like the simple and easy to understand worldbuilding and the relaxing vibes that came with it, in a way, it reminds me of Campfire Cooking where the show takes a more episodic approach to develop the main characters across the 12 episodes. I like the pacing of the show, I did not find the plot dragging out and by the end of the show, the show is able to go through a few sub-plots worth of story and worldbuilding while being able to progress the romance between the two male leads. In addition, the show also did a good job at giving the female side character (Yua) that was summoned into the isekai world some character development across the 12 episodes instead of solely focusing on the main character. For the BL aspect, I…
