The Banished Court Magician Aims to Become the Strongest

The Banished Court Magician Aims to Become the Strongest

Introduction

"This party doesn't need an incompetent magician who can only use supportive magic. You're fired, Alec Ygret." Suddenly, Alec, a court magician who had joined the crown prince's party to help him conquer dungeons—was banished from the party. And not just the party, but the crown prince's harassment has banished him from the royal palace as well, and a friend from the "magic academy" approached Alec, who was at his wit's end. "Hey, Alec. Do you want to try to conquer the dungeon with us again?" And so, together with the friends he used to party with, Alec begins his second journey in life. This is the adventure story of a former court magician who had been abandoned. Four years ago, the "Lasting Period," a party of four that had been called "legendary," has gradually spread its name around the world. (Source: Kodansha, translated)

The Banished Court Magician Aims to Become the Strongest is a "fairly standard" entry in the ever-growing genre of betrayal-driven power fantasies. While it provides the reliable satisfaction of seeing an overlooked hero prove their worth, it often struggles to "stand out from the crowd," resulting in an experience that is functional but rarely exceptional. ● Short Synopsis Ed, a dedicated court magician, is suddenly stripped of his position and exiled from the kingdom by a selfish prince who deems his specialized "support magic" to be useless. Cast out and left with nothing, Ed soon realizes that his supposedly "weak" abilities are actually the foundation for legendary power. As he ventures into the world as an adventurer, he begins to assemble a new team, proving that the kingdom’s gr…

This show has a lot of wonderful and unique components that didn't combine into something all that great. I think they were trying to do too much and it collapsed on them and that sucks because we never get anime about normal friends. They're just a group of smart but normal men and women! Normal people who are friends! I want more anime like that! Give me my (male and female) bros, bro-ing down together in a intergenderational festival of brodom! The show tries to stay super grounded, so the main character isn't a 1000000/10 on the power level, he's more like a 10/10. He's smart and figures out how to do things within the confines of the world's magic system (which is also somewhat grounded). People around him have their own strengths and weaknesses. But then they have this insane final…

There are some things about this show that are good, especially in the first few episodes. However the second half of the show is a terrible slog with extremely generic enemies, an over emphasis on magic battles that include very little magic, and weird power-scaling. The worst part is the final villain, who has so many plotholes in his backstory that could have been answered simply with a candid conversation. None of the latter half of the story made any sense from an actual practical standpoint, the antagonist acted irrationally to even get there in the first place, and the needless antagonism doesn't make any sense in terms of counteraction nor trauma. HIs actions during this part of the story is overwritten by his past, and we are expected to sort of forgive him. But his current action…

If you like simple fantasy trash this is pretty good. It's got decent characters who interact well, a fun story line and some real worldbuilding. It's pretty easy to watch and fun too. It does nothing new though, the entire premise is wrapped up almost immediately other than a minor part a few episodes in, only to be largely irrelevant for the entire anime. What makes this stand out even a little is the main party. Terrible party name aside they're fun, they have established relationsips and get on well (well, like family might be a better phrase). They're also all, and this is critial, really skilled. This isn't a party where our protag simply drags some lovely, but useless, people along, by the end of the anime I'm not sure who the real protagonist is anymore honestly. I like this aspec…

This went in a different direction than advertised. From the title my first thought was this is the now generic MC got kicked out of a party only to realize he was the one carrying them all along and those bullies in middle school just didn't appreciate how super awesome special he was. So... it did start like that. Only instead of a middle schooler it's more a salaryman working in a black company where he has to bear the weight of every little thing and none of the benefits. He then moves on to a normal company where his coworkers are far more supportive and the psychological tactics used to break you down and bully you in a negative work environment aren't used (but he's still healing so is low-key expecting them.) Just imagine that disguised under a paper thin fantasy layer and you…

I dont write many reviews but for this i have to. I can enjoy anime with bad animation or slightly boring characters if the story is OK. However, this is trash.... really. The animation is Okayish. The MC for 4 episodes is battling with self confidence even though everyone is cheering on him. The side characters do not have any development. However the main issue i have is with the story. It is very slow pacing with multiple flashbacks (which are boring). From episode 6 I had the show on second monitor while i browsed internet or played games. The last two episodes which at this time did not have eng dub i just flashed through. Honestly i could not be invested in the characters and the story.

I watched in one go and maybe for that it wasn’t that bad. Overall there’s nothing new as an isekai, but them popping out of every corner lately, no surprise. The characters were ok, MC could have been more outdrawn for this story is about him. The party as itself reminded me of a mix up of My Hero Academia, Maho Tsukai Tai and Scooped up by a S-Rank Adventurer. The story of the first half could have been told in the first 3-4 episodes and the main focus should have been more on the story about Melea and Olivia as well on the “mysterious death” of the mother of Alec and the whereabouts of Eldas. If the producers might come up with a second season I hope it’s more story and progression than talks.

One of genric shows from year 2025 . The story isn't much promising , title and premise follows your avg or re-run things from other iseakis with different names . The only thing which i liked that mc isn't dumb at all , he knows what he is capable of doing or not . Animation , art style , ost etc pretty genric , i think perfect for a medicore isekai . They tried to add some complexity at end by introducing some twists and fantasy tropes , well we gonna see this in next season . Some cool dungeon exploration themes along with unique magic used by villains . Over all , it's depend on your taste wheather to watch or not .

Story This is a very generic anime where, once again, the main character gets kicked out of his group, but it doesn't really matter because he is the best anyway. The show is so unmemorable that I barely remember what happened just a few episodes ago. There is no complex story, no meaningful world-building, and no interesting characters to speak of. If you have already watched a few of those "I got kicked from the party but I am actually ultra OP" shows, you are basically just watching a re-run with different names. Visuals The visuals are as generic as the story. The art style, effects, and animation are mediocre with a very average amount of detail. It felt like the creators tried to do something slightly less common with the spell designs, but they clearly didn't want to take any real…

The Banished Court Magician Aims to Become the Strongest The seasonal banished from part/team/royality anime anime with op mc taken for granted later on starting new life with friends/comrades tbh the genre has been way too much overflowing in anime society to even stand out and the story is mostly same in all the anime with useless cliffhangers about the past of MC or things related to MC ( here his mother's death ) . Tbh the anime doesn't has any thing to stand out even the OP and ED are way too basic to be a plus point for the show the anime has that useless slow burn 4-5 episode single fight scene with a super strong monster who's slain by non other than our MC making everyone shocked . The group has 2 female and 2 male " Perfect balance " the main gonna be couple and the other 2 "…

Banished Court Magician, henceforth BCM, is a fairly standard betrayed MC power fantasy. The story follows Alec and his party of three other prodigies; after Alec is betrayed and fired by the prince of a foreign kingdom, he rejoins his party, and the quartet go on various adventures together primarily in dungeons. Alec is a fairly generic MC who goes through all the same steps that most others in this subgenre go through. He lacks self-esteem despite being absurdly strong and is kind of a wet blanket who lacks strong motivations for the first half of the season. The lore and story definitely pick up in the latter half, and the characters other than Alec are all pretty enjoyable, but not much about the series really helps it stand out from the crowd. BCM has a pretty standard magic system…

While the lore and story certainly did pick up towards the end of this series there is nothing that really sets it apart from other adventure fantasy anime. Yes the MC has cool abilities and is a prodigy with magic BUT we have seen that before in this generic fantasy setting. That said I do like the MCs abilities and the story/lore developed over the series as a whole. I think if we got another season, we'd get to dive into a lot more of the elements that I liked from this season. Granted with how most OP MC series go that is usually never the case as they just continue to devolve over time. That said the power system in this series is REALLY cool and I would love to see more abilities from the series expanded upon in the future if it does get a continuation. So while YES this is just an…

The Banished Court Magician Aims to Become the Strongest - Sigh, I swear that "who comes up with these kinds of shit-tier stories" truly belongs to the trash heap, period. But what if there's something unique within, that attempts to derail the common fault? The "Banished from the Hero's Party" trope — you've seen it once, and we'll continue to see this again for future seasons to come. But I've got a confession to make: not EVERY work that is like the originator of the subgenre theme that follows thereafter from Fall 2021's Shin no Nakama a.k.a. Banished From The Hero's Party, is going to work out as well as authors intended it to be, because if it's garbage, it's absolute trash for recycled content. However, as a self-certified isekai/fantasy lover for all things good and bad, I have to…
