Roll Over and Die

Roll Over and Die

Introduction

Chosen by the Church's god, Origin, a young country girl named Flum Apricot is enlisted in the hero's party and expected to fight demons. However, her one innate skill, Reversal, has no practical use, and the party's sage, Jean Inteige, treats her as a burden, eventually selling her off to a slave dealer. In the slave dealer's dark dungeon, all hope seems lost. But in a moment of desperation, Flum discovers that her skill actually turns the negative energy of cursed weapons into power, which helps her slay the slave owner and escape with another captured girl, Milkit. Now equipped with the means to fight and survive, Flum embraces the career of an adventurer and aims to lead a happy life with Milkit, away from the grim machinations of the Church. DARKKKNESS

✧ NO SPOILERS ✧ Until Episode 6, I honestly didn't even realize this was a yuri anime! Despite being a yuri series, it doesn't revolve around the fact that two girls have feelings for each other. Their relationship is simply one part of a much bigger story, and that's something I really appreciate. It is treated just as naturally as any other protagonist developing feelings for someone of the opposite gender, rather than making it the sole focus of the entire show. However, much like many other yuri shows, this one falls into the same trope of creating a number of yuri pairings that feel rather forced, but that doesn't apply to the main protagonists! There's also a very glaring sense of resentment towards men in general throughout the show. It's like there are four good male characters,…

This one is tad weird. When you watch the opening, you may consider it to be some another occult zombie story inside, but no. It goes farther and broader than that, well, totally not in zombie direction, and not in a bad sense. Basically it's not what opening sells it for and the ending beats the opening in being much more like the series itself. I'd say the series are mix of the ending and opening, makes me think the studio didn't really know which direction to take initially :D First things first, don't be discouraged with a rating of 6. It is the one I easily set for any anime I can watch without qualms and not consider it a waste of time. One that doesn't leave any too lasting an impression, but is easy and entertaining to watch. Basically, fine as in fine as it is. Could be better, c…

It was too good altough questionable at the start, the concept was wonderful. the naming sense could have been better. MILK IT?! IS THAT REALLY A NAME YOU SHOULD USE ON A FEMALE CHARACTER?! but the relationship between her and the mc was really adorable and sweet so of course it could have only been written by a female writer. i still question the naming sense. but even so it's really interesting how the MC's attribute was thought out, we don't really get to see the attribute of others but it's truly interesting. I do feel like it has some similarity to another story like "Banished From The Hero's Party, I Decided To Live A Quiet Life In The Countryside" since the mage is on some egomaniac power trip.

It's not one of the greats, but it's head and shoulders above average. A 6 average is a damn shame. Give it a watch, it's worth it. Honestly have no idea why this anime is getting such a low rating. In my eyes, it's an instant classic. I've seen just about everything in this genre at this point and this was a fantastic anime. The illustration was nothing special, the animation and story are decent, but the actual execution - voice acting, environments, world details, pure feeling - was fantastic. I think people went in expecting a typical JRPG isekai and got something darker, more akin to Clevatess - which I loved.

Another anime with a truly bizarre rating. I can only assume it's the fairly niche themes. Light yuri with no fanservice and a very dark, brutal story. Not sure that's a typical mashup. Flum is a solid main character. Her power makes her pretty resilient but not overly powerful, and a lot of the struggle is her attempts to keep those she cares about safe. Which in such a dark and messed up world, ain't easy. There's a pretty wide cast of solid characters that are pretty easy to actually care about. The overall story is interesting, and it even has some twists that take it off the bog standard path fantasy settings like this often end up on. This is another anime that doesn't have a AAA animation budget, but all of the character designs are great and nothing ever looks bad. Battles ar…

This anime had everything for it to be terrible, but it wasn't. That's not to say it was great, either. Roll Over and Die uses a lot of common tropes and subverts them in nice ways, but the story still has many holes at times and the ending especially was very rushed. The relationship between the two protagonists appears to be the focus of the anime, but they don't have that much development. Whenever they have progress, it feels unnatural. Flum's obsession with Milkit was unwarranted at times, and just happened because the two were supposed to be together as the protagonists. Flum's power could also have been explored in depth, as it's quite creative, but we don't get much out of it other than its basic powers in the beginning and then an unexplained evolution of it later down the episo…

This is an odd show. This is one of the classic LN into Manga into Anime, but after taking the time to read as much of the translated manga as I could find, only to then learn that there was a full anime season of it out... Well, I was kinda excited and weary. I watch a lot of fantasy anime, and I know what to expect by this point, there is a lot of shared ground, and what you're usually left with is a need to find something eye-catching with every entry. This show has a pretty good one; it genuinely does not shy away from violence. And I mean that in the sincerest sense. There are many anime with action, there are many anime with gruesome concepts, wrapped in pretty paint. This one, while not egregious, does have a the right elements to make me feel like there is a lot of danger to the…

Watching a lot of works that revolve around an MMO-like or Isekai world is nothing new to me. A lot of them feel similar and I lot of them also bring with them unoriginal ideas. Roll Over and Die has something new to add to the mix... but fails to really uphold what could of truly been something different. Story & Characters: Roll Over and Die centres around Flum Apricot, an orphan who was once in the Hero's Party, However, her skill "reversal" is deemed to be useless and they sell her off as a slave. On the brink of being killed by zombie-like creatures, she picks up a cursed sword as a last act of desperation and discovers that her Reversal skill allows her to reversal the adverse effects that this sword would normally cast upon its user. Flum frees both herself, and another slave, Milk…

I really wanted to like this, but it just didn’t land for me. The biggest issue is the constant tonal whiplash. The story tries to balance a dark, horror-driven premise with an intense romantic dynamic, but instead of blending naturally, it swings back and forth in a way that feels forced. One moment it’s leaning into brutality and despair, and the next it’s pushing a romance that borders on obsession, and it comes out of nowhere. Because of that, neither aspect gets the development it deserves. The horror loses its impact, and the relationship feels unnatural rather than compelling. Instead of enhancing each other, they clash. Overall, it ends up feeling more cringe than emotional, and more confusing than gripping.

I really liked it at the start but around episode 9 it just starts with so much nonsense. The vibe is a good mix of dark and fluff both things that I sadly don't often see together. Things that where never introduced appear without explanation and some conclusions of characters are even farther fetched than any Conan case. At the same time I felt like all the character development up to that point just vanished for 2 episodes. All in all not bad but I guess if you have some interest in this going for the source material is the play.

Overall, it’s a pretty average anime, but still an easy watch. The first couple episodes are honestly the best part—they come in with a darker, gritty, almost horror vibe that really pulls you in. It doesn’t fully stick with that tone the whole time, which is a bit disappointing, but you still get small moments of it here and there. As it goes on, it kind of settles into a more typical style. The animation is decent, the story is fine, and nothing really feels bad—it just doesn’t stand out much either. The side characters don’t get a ton of depth, but they do their job and don’t take away from the main story. It’s not something I’d go out of my way to recommend, but it’s still a chill watch if you’re just looking for something to throw on without thinking too much. 5.5/10

I can't think of anything so bad written than this... thing. Just the idea of a reversion skill which turn curses into power is so good that will make you try to watch the show, but all the rest is so poorly applied that makes this show a total waste of time. The skill is so poorly used. Even the interactions that supposed to be funny are bad. Sometimes you see a very pretty character face, well done, that is extremely bad animated in the next scene. So, it's poorly written and poorly animated. There's a fight scene that I swear, I think it has 5 frames of movement. The character is shaking and glitching while running. Very ugly to see.

Omae Gotoki ga Maou ni Kateru to Omouna is honestly disappointing. The story feels generic and predictable, failing to bring anything fresh to the genre. Even when it tries to create tension or emotional moments, everything comes off as forced and shallow. The characters are another weak point. They lack depth, and most of them feel one-dimensional, with little to no meaningful development. Their decisions often don’t feel natural, which makes it hard to stay engaged or care about what happens to them. The art style is decent but doesn’t stand out enough to compensate for the weak storytelling. While it’s not terrible visually, it doesn’t elevate the experience either. Overall, this is not something I would recommend. Even for fans of the genre, there are far better options that deliver…

From what i have seen on the internet. Its quite a low budget anime. From what i seen online is that animation isnt that amazing. And also the reason they used this more simplistic monster style. I looked at the manga too. They dont really show the weird slime monsters all that much. They just kinda avoid it. But nothing seems to insinuate this was not how it was intended. And to me it all seems very fitting The show is atleast now up to date with what I can find from the manga. Idk if its easier to animate or not. But for me personally it looked perfectly fine I didnt hate the animation, i thought it was perfectly acceptable. It aint CSM but I have seen far worse then this too. The interactions between Milkit and Flum are amazing. Its very lesbian coded and cute and adorable. Very…

First of all there aren't many Gl anime in fantasy genre . So , I appreciate the efforts for adapting a Gl but the main problem is that there isn't any Gl in whole anime there is atmosphere but not initiatives characters literally saying their each other name in order to fulfil Gl tag . Overall a poor try to gain cheap views from Gl lovers like me . Aside from Gl part it has some cool abilities and mystery revolving around church is pretty much cool to see . I think they intentionally made church bad guys and demon good . The eps were good till 8-9 but then, their budget ran out and they used fog to avoid to animate background . The op is enjoyable but overall ost is decent . I won't mind seeing a another season because of plot but manga or ln readers told me that further story isn't ver…

What the hell did I just watch? This went from being an interesting, if somewhat frustrating, dark fantasy turned revenge fantasy turned slice of life (?)...mystery...that sort of meandered around suffering from pacing issues then at the very end decided to cram what felt like two full light novel volumes' worth of exposition into a single episode and then abruptly ended. Absent reading the source material or consulting Google or Reddit or AI or whatever, there is no way any viewer could possibly come away with a complete picture of what actually happened. What a waste of time that ended up being.

Your time would be better spent trying to fish floaters out of your eyes with a fork. The story is boring and aimless. There's no point to any of it. It doesn't go anywhere. There are bizarre connections early on that aren't explained or explored in any way. While that is certainly not unusual nowadays, that doesn't excuse it. You'd think they'd explore revenge in some form considering how the story starts, but no. It's just meandered around, committing to nothing before fizzling out. It comes off as “I don't know how to tell a story, but want one that's LGBT and subversive to norms” was the only thing on the creators mind. That is also evidently 30% of the stuff in the past season on Crunchyroll, too. Convenient how it ramped up in volume after Crunchyroll shutdown comments and reviews f…

Anime only review This anime was a big ol' "meh" for me. Honestly, the concept and story aren't that bad. I wish that they fleshed the world out a little more so that things don't just -happen- I guess, especially with the main character's "affinity" and the heroes party. It plays with "girl love" as it moves through the story but is a little annoying with it IMO because they just have the main characters saying each other's name a bunch at each other. If it gets picked up for another season I could see it not feeling bad to watch as they finish the story, but if the animation and dialogue stay the same then I will probably just watch it on 2x speed to say that I finished it The opening song is a banger though!

After watching all 12 episodes, I can say that this anime left me with mixed feelings, leaning more toward the negative side. Flum Apricot is chosen as a hero despite having no notable abilities. After joining the hero’s party, she is mistreated and eventually sold into slavery. When she is on the verge of death, she discovers her true ability: inversion. In other words, the negative effects of cursed items and weapons are reversed and become positive when she uses them, and that’s where the story begins. You would expect the anime to follow a path of redemption and revenge based on how Flum is treated at the beginning, but that’s not the case. The series feels like it changes genre every few episodes. In the early episodes, which are the most interesting in my opinion, Flum reflects on…
