Gostei muito do filme Gintama: Yoshiwara in Flames.

Holy!!! wtf did I just watch!? This movie not only adapted one of my favorite arcs in Gintama but it just made it even better than it was. Kagura's awakening had so much more to it even than the original, the atmosphere, the direction, you can really feel the ferocity of that Yato race coming out to light with that scene. The comedy was peak as always, it's Gintama after all. The most upgrade out of everything else was the animation and holy shit it was so much fun to watch with the fights being really dynamic, you can really see the ambition and work put into this movie. In conclusion as a massive Gintama fan this movie blew my already high expectations away, it was incredible from start to end. Highly recommend this! You won't regret this watch. Truly absolute cinema! Exactly what Gintam…

Gintama The Movie 2026: Yoshiwara in Flames
Yoshiwara in Flames is one of the greatest arcs in Gintama, and it probably takes place in the Top 5 on most fans' lists, if not all.
This is the first arc, iirc, which introduced Kamui and delves into Kagura's (BEST GIRL) past and explores her background as a Yato, what it means to be one, and this movie nailed that part. Kagura's fight with Abuto was the highlight of this movie for me. The animation, visuals, and choreography of that fight were just magnificent.
The overall movie was really great. The direction and execution were great, especially the animation and visuals. Whoever was in charge of that knew what they were doing, and they outdid themselves. Every scene was so refined and breathtaking, and despite being an 8-to-9-episode arc,…

This is more of a generalist review for the film, but anyways...
This movie was great! While most of the criticisms about this are pretty accurate, such as the pacing issues, they are negligible in the grand scheme of things (at least for me), as not having to deal with the dreaded 4:3 is a great bonus for the movie. I do think that this movie can stand on its own as great Gintama, being the best animated thing this series' seen in years, and I think the colour theory and art design in much better, and that the interpretation of Kagura vs Abuto, one of the fights I've seen clowned on a lot for being different and not being as horror-focused as the original can stand on its own, as the movie's version is more like a blazing burst of shock where the audience needs some time to digest the su…

I have to preface this by saying i am a huge fan of Gintama. ive watched everything multiple times and it is my favorite show of all time. That being said. I have to add some realism to this review section. This is arguably the worst thing to come out of Gintama. The slip arc was incredible compared to this. The comedy was completely out of pace. The directing for the emotional scened was off. The lighting and the overall mood of the original was completely lost. Well you might be thinking the fights are what were here for. If 90 procent of the movie is comedy and emotion. And you fail on both, its a bad movie simple as that. The fight scenes werent even good enough to make this a AVERAGE adaptation. It sucked. The only saving grace for this film was Kondo speaking in a yoshiwara prostitut…

A great movie for Gintama fans with animation the show has never seen before. This movie has a catch though!
For starters the animation and art direction are incredible. Since the original anime adaptation of this arc is quite old, it was nice to see Yoshiwara and Hosen in such high quality.
However there two aspects that prevent this movie to be a masterpiece.
First is the pacing.
While I remember this arc very well, the movie skipped through so much amazing inner monologs or scenes to get this big arc cramped into a movie. The pacing felt like each scene had to be adapted rather than giving the viewers time to appreciate it.
My second problem is the filler. To let people see other fan favorite characters, the writers of this movie forced Katsura and the Shinsengumi into this arc.…

Gintama Movie 3: Yoshiwara in Flames is the epitome of the notion that you can throw as much talent and effort at as many high frame count fights scenes as you want and it's still not a substitute for good directing and knowing when something is too flashy for its own good. I wouldn’t say that there’s anything here I would call outright bad, but for all the high-octane action cuts of combatants bouncing around the room DBZ-style, far less of it leaves a notable impact than I was hoping for. There is no restraint nor sense of a unified image, and as such several sections of these fights reach the point of becoming blurred noise. I still enjoyed them, but in the way that I like to get high and stare into sequences of vibrating color, not as well-choreographed action set pieces that are inter…

Peak movie fr, yoshiwara arc is one of my fav in series and they did really good work, animation was really good, all fights were improved, extra scenes were great too shinsengumi and zura were also good i dont want to spoil one scene but that was best extra scene imo, they didnt show one great scene of umibozu in movie but that scene was included in end credits, like anime version have its own originality but for us fans this movie was really good, idk if someone who havent watched the anime version is going to like it that much but it is soo peak, they should watch anime version first imo.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND AGAINST watching this movie if you haven't seen the original. I ESPECIALLY ADVISE AGAINST WATCHING IT IF YOU ARE NOT FAMILIAR WITH GINTAMA AT ALL. Personally, I found the anime version to be executed much better in terms of drama and overall storytelling, despite all the technical polish of the movie. They picked way too big of an arc for a film, which is why the pacing suffers. Everything happens so fast at the end, you don't even get time to really enjoy the moment before the action switches to other characters. The screen time distribution is weird, and you can really feel the director's inexperience. In some places, they drag out things that aren't particularly interesting (a rather tedious beginning), while cutting down the good moments. Funny. The new plotlines wit…

The 20th anniversary of Gintama is a recap movie of one of the most praised arcs in all of season 1, and when most recap movies (including Gintama’s previous movie covering the Benizakura arc) are lazy and mainly waste of your time this one is definitely one of the exceptions. Put simply even compared to Gintama: The Final, this movie goes above and beyond what was originally in the anime and delivers in textbook Gintama fashion, I could definitely argue that someone new should watch this over the original in the anime.
This next paragraph will be a quick synopsis of this review so readers can feel free to stop after that.
The new additions that Bandai Namco Pictures added to this movie was the inclusion of Katsura and The Shinsengumi, plus a drug subplot not previously in the anime. T…

What an absolutely incredible movie holy crap - not only did it adapt an absolutely incredible arc but it made it even better with the editions of the shinsengumi and zura - just absolutely a joy to watch and did not lose its essence one bit - just off the get go I was cracking up with laughter all because of how it stays so true to itself and parodies so many popular shows - there’s only a rare bunch of shows or movies that can have you cracking up but also shedding genuine tears of emotions and gintama has always been the one to be able to that - gintama doesn’t hold the top place as my favourite anime for no reason and this movie does not change that one bit and in fact only makes that more serious - the animation was absolutely gorgeous and the fights were so cinematic and raw that I j…

The film is a remake of the Yosiwara Enjou arc. While It follows mainly the original TV series closely, it also adds several new elements that give the arc a fresh impact.
Story
The storyline mostly remains faithful to the original version (several scenes and dialogues are cut). However, this remake introduces Shinsengumi and Katsura, who did not appear in the original version. Though their involvement can feel slightly forceful, they brought new humor and tension to the story.
For newcomers, the film works perfectly as a standalone story. For long-time fans, the upgraded direction and emotional intensity make this retelling worth watching again.
Animation Works
This is the biggest reason this remake exists. From the opening scenes, the animation quality is excellent. It proved that th…
