It should be said right away that this is hard to call a full-fledged work. The production hell the project was trapped in left a very clear mark, the most visible consequence of which is 8 episodes out of the 12 planned. Moreover, the incredible graphics and level of detail the series began with are barely discernible by the final episode. It should also be noted that, due mainly to the low quality of the source material, the depth of the work and its characters is not particularly impressive either. Yet at the same time, in those parts that were made and completed, one can feel the passion of the people who worked on it. The series immediately captivates with its atmosphere and direction, which first and foremost harkens back to Game of Thrones and recalls many other serious dramatic wor…

Released the Witch surprised me in the best way. I expected a typical isekai story, but it turned into something much more interesting. Instead of focusing only on battles or overpowered abilities, the series puts a lot of attention on kingdom-building, technology, politics, and how knowledge can change the world.
What I enjoyed the most was watching Roland use modern ideas to improve everyday life and build a stronger nation. The witches were also written well, each with unique personalities and abilities that made them feel important instead of just supporting characters.
The pacing can feel slow at times because of the world-building and political discussions, but I never found it boring. Seeing the gradual progress of the town and the relationships between the characters was satisfyi…

Damn this is so good they got the cruel and dark of the medieval times and the story is really good im just glad they did not go the manga route cause that was shit but the story itself is so good cant wait for the next season.
Story and setting is kinda unique but it has tons of parts that is all over mainstream manga.
The art style is just so good with the dark and grimy feel of it especially the armor weapons the clothes and the and the realistic look of the equipment, houses the techniques of inventions.

-That blend of fantasy, politics, science, magic and civilization building is what works most in its favor, because it does not feel like another generic isekai where the protagonist simply arrives powerful and that is it, here there is a more strategic idea, using modern knowledge to change a kingdom from its foundations, a concept with a lot of identity, the witches are not just decorative magical figures but important pieces within the world progress, and that gives a very interesting focus to the conflict against the church, the nobles, the conspiracies and the external threats, i also find it positive that the story has that air of the beginning of a revolution, where each advance can change the balance of power, as a viewer that hooks you because you are not only watching fights or p…

As someone who has read the Release That Witch manhua, I have mixed feelings, the character designs have been drastically altered looking nothing like their manhua counterparts and the atmosphere is quite different, too. I started watching the anime without realizing the connection, so I didn't even notice it was an adaptation until the second episode, which left me very confused at first.
However, after watching a bit more, I began to appreciate the adaptation on its own merits. If you’ve read the manhua, you definitely need to prepare for changes and a period of adjustment, but once you get past that, you might really enjoy it.
One disappointing aspect is that, due to production issues, the first season has only eight episodes instead of the intended twelve (if I recall correctly), mak…

If witches existed and actually wanted to help humanity, this is probably what it would look like.
It reminds me of Lord of the Mysteries mixed with Vinland Saga rich worldbuilding, brutal realism, smart politics, and characters that actually feel human. You get the mystery, strategy, kingdom-building, and darker themes.
People suffer, people die, people make selfish choices, and the world reacts realistically. The witches aren’t just fanservice or overpowered plot devices they feel like actual people trying to survive in a cruel world.
The art style fits the atmosphere really well too. It has that gritty and grounded feeling, and when things get violent or dark, it doesn’t hold back. Gory in its own way, but not just for shock value.
Nobody feels unrealistically perfect or stupid just…

Imagine if they took slime isekai and somehow made it even more boring. There is no tension and there's pretty much no plot because the main character can perfectly solve every problem through deus ex machina. Roland can somehow perfectly recall how to create concrete, steam engines or muskets, and there is no explanation for it like how he might have been a mechanical engineer in his past life or anything. And on the off chance he upsets someone in power, he will just get rescued by some random character that hasn't even been introduced until that point. It's witch magic. I ain't gotta explain shit.
It should be named omniscient engineer's viewpoint instead of 放开那个女巫 since the 女巫 don't really do anything other than act as pawns for Roland and seemingly have no real agency. If a witch mig…

Amazingly done show
It should definitely get a continuation
I sincerely hope for it to continue and get enough popularity and funds
for more episodes and multiple seasons.
The story is uniquely done and follows the novel more than the manhua wich is
actually a good thing. The characters are correctly shown as far as i saw.
I think that anybody who watches this show wil enjoy it. just try to get into it even though its in Chinese dub with English dub.
All in all amazing show it really should get more attention and the love it deserves. I know for certain that many people will like this show it really shows
Its unique style with engineering added too.

This is a GOATED anime that I think can surpass even the popular animes out there. Sadly this only got season 1 and the source novel is something you can't ignore. Believe me, if this gets another GOATED seasons with 12/24 eps, then the anime fans will be crazy to be even willing to buy on Chrunchyroll!
The main character is a reincarnated modern world person who is going to turn that old era he reincarnated in into a modern era. The concept is quite unique here and the story with world building, character development, politics and magical powers are truly executed with completely different way. You will see the art is perfectly blended in, not too bright nor too dark, the character designs are marvelous and the way it executes every scene strongly complies with logic and realism. You wil…

The best isekai ever.
This anime is definitely good stuff, and honestly, it would not be a crime to rate it a little higher than usual. It is even unique, in a way: an atypical isekai with none of the standard isekai nonsense like “adventurer guilds,” “skill-point grinding,” “systems,” overpowered edgy protagonists, and all the other clichés that make up 99% of the genre.
While Japanese animation, especially in this genre, has turned into a conveyor belt of degradation, the Chinese suddenly stood up and actually made something good.
So, what do we have here?
The art and animation are not expensive-looking, but they are done very well. You can clearly see that the artists tried their best with the budget they had. At times, the visuals look slightly gloomy and grey, matching the medieval…

What a damn excellent show. This is an isekai who expertly makes use of the protagonist’s expert knowledge of modern technology to exemplarily build up the protagonist’s small remote village into a powerhouse. This also has some insane levels of political scheming that got us screaming in awe. This is seriously on the level of something like early Game of Thrones. The characters are very well designed and very likeable. Even the villains are very interesting. This is truly expertly written and I don’t want to spoil any of it.
Unfortunately, the show had some extreme production issues and has suddenly stopped airing. It is left on a somewhat big cliffhanger, but I am very satisfied either way. I pray that this continues production someday because this was incredible. From what I got the stu…

Release That Witch – The Isekai We Didn't Know We Needed
Honestly, if you’re like me and you’re totally burnt out on the "generic hero gets hit by a truck and gains a cheat code" trope, then "Fangkai Nage Nuwu" (Release That Witch) is going to feel like a literal breath of fresh air.
It’s criminal how short the adaptation is, but those few episodes? Pure masterpiece material for anyone who loves world-building and kingdom-building.
The "Big Brain" Energy
The MC, Roland, isn't some overpowered warrior. He’s an engineer. Watching him drop actual science in a world that thinks "witches are demons" is so incredibly satisfying. It’s not just "I have magic," it’s "I have thermodynamics and gunpowder." The way he utilizes the witches' powers as industrial tools—like using a fire-manipulator as…

If you like Isekai, you might like this donghua. The setting is original compared to other Isekai and the story is low fantasy, something rare nowadays.
With only eight episodes, we already can have a good understanding of this world. The medieval fantasy is well represented, and the dark mood especially is one the strength of this anime. It's a good thing that it's more focused on that characters and worldbuilding without doing any info dumping.
The restricted setting at the beginning helps emphasize the indirect confrontation between the two sides, highlighting the importance of strategy and the political, economic, and military constraints that the protagonist must overcome with his knowledge. The story approaches with maturity the power dynamics among the nobility.
The supernatural…

This is a really great story, and one of the things I appreciate the most about it is that the focus isn’t limited to just the main characters. The secondary characters are also given meaningful development, which makes the world feel more complete and engaging. The story itself feels very unique, and it kept my interest throughout. I especially like how it blends modern ideas and elements into what seems like an older or more traditional setting—that contrast makes it stand out even more.
While the animation may not be the strongest aspect and can feel a bit rough at times, it doesn’t take away too much from the overall experience. It’s still enjoyable to watch, and the strength of the story and characters makes up for those visual shortcomings. Overall, it’s a memorable and enjoyable se…

If you like isakai, medieval settings, and magic, you might like this. Considering it's only eight episodes, it's not a big time sink either, compared to others.
I see a lot of criticism about what the protagonist knows, and that's completely fair considering there's been no explanation, know this, he was an engineer and can somehow remember everything he ever learned. That fact explains how he knows so much! This know this because I've read the book. Sadly like a lot of anime, it suffers from lacking a lot of extra information you get in the book. But the nice thing is if you like it you can go read the book.

Far better than the manhua , manhua lowkey had a lot of potential but there was either fanservice or rushed plotpoints ruining it all yet the world building is superb as it was in the novel.
The anime itself was so binge worthy, it was well paced and def had lot of World builidng elements in it that really made u wanna see more
I would def say it's one of the best kingdom building plot I seen , but unfortunately with only 8 eps it couldn't showcase much yet.
But hopefully more ppl watch this and see potential it can bring, if ur looking for a good isekai and actually intriguing kingdom building. Watch it rn and even read the novel and support the call for future seasons

Every isekai comes with built in flaws that most anime never explore because doing so would ruin the power fantasy this genre strives for. Take the classic: NEET who lacks the willpower to leave his room in peaceful modern Japan is suddenly summoned to a fantasy world full of monsters, violence and danger but somehow immediately becomes charismatic, brave and socially adept. That is unbelievable at every level but we ignore it either because the show is entertaining enough or because the narrative is written in a way that makes those problems feel less important than they really are. But sometimes a series stumbles so hard and everything is so absurd that you can't look past its flaws even if you're trying to. Release That Witch is one of them. Let's get to it.

If you want a more down to earth kingdom building anime, this is the story for you. Having read the novel, it is an excellent well thought out plot, plenty of action, intrigue, character building, strategy, and world building.
This adaptation is missing out some of the behind the scenes character development. Without the inner monologues it is hard to tell what is going through Rolands mind at times (unless you read the novel). But this is only 8 episodes so far, and as the series goes on the character get more outspoken, so personally I think the adaptation is very promising.
Here's hoping that this anime continues, as it would be criminal for this anime to stop at 8 episodes. Highly recommend the novel, or manhua if you want to get ahead of the plot (these 8 episodes only cover ~40 ch…

i don't usually watch Chinese animes cuz most of the time its too confusing and fast paced, but this one was not like any other from story to characters to pacing to animation it was pure cinema
i thought it would be the same generic isekai anime never expected to be this good
the animation reminded me of vinland saga its so detailed, so i don't think people who watch this anime can make excuse to hate on it cuz of animation
its sad that they only released 8 episodes thinking it would flop even tho they already had 16 episodes ready.. i hope they see how much people loved the anime and start release other episodes too.

This is either going to become one of the most beloved animes in the genre, or it will forever be the biggest missed opportunity in all of anime. Due to production issues, the show will not continue past episode 8, despite plans for 24 episodes. With no confirmations of a second season it seems like this is it, and I just can't accept that.
There isn't one character in the show I'm not invested in seeing develop. There isn't one plotline I'm not desperate to see continued. The pacing, excellent, they give everything enough time to breathe whilst keeping every episode tight and focused. The art is beautiful, and despite the 8 episodes we saw having limited action, every bit of it was dynamic, fluid and grounded. This is the kind of compassionate and thoughtful show, with interesting proble…
