Arion

Arion

Introduction

Arion is a young shepherd who lives in Thrace with his blind mother, the goddess Demeter. Their lives are peaceful until the day Arion's uncle Hades appears and lures him to the underworld, promising that there is a way to restore his mother's sight. To achieve this, Arion must kill the god who cursed her: Zeus, the king of Olympus. After years of training in the underworld, Arion—now a deadly warrior—embarks on his vengeful quest to slay Zeus. On his journey to Mount Olympus, Arion forges alliances with some unlikely individuals: the giant Geedo, the thief Seneca, and the mute maiden Resphoina. As he cuts a bloody path through a vast world of warring armies and mythical monsters, Arion begins to unravel the secrets of his lineage and the fate of the scheming gods. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

This review will be a little brief in content due to the situations of watching this film. In truth, it was somewhat of a confusing and sloppy story in comparison to future movies that were made by better creators. The plot, interestingly enough, would create an interesting plot revolving on the kin of the Greek Gods desiring revenge from a supposed curse on their mother. However, this movie fails to bring out interesting character journeys or development with their tale. Even more detrimental is how meandering the story is, going from one setting to another without having any time for the audience immerse themselves. Even worse, is the continued points of characters getting killed off really quickly without any feeling of tension or meaning. Apart from the title or some set pieces, it is…

So I stumbled across this old anime through the mal database and decided to to check it out as it's on youtube. My thoughts are it's not that bad, yes the plot has some serious issues and the story is weird and definitely janky as heck but I did enjoy what I watched. The art is very good considering its the 80's it looks very high quality and the action sequences are fun to watch. I also like the character desgins and backgrounds and overall artstyle. The music is nice and I dont have any issues with the voice acting. Now the story it's not the best, it feels like a lot of scenes that don't connect to tell an overall story and the narrative is very choppy and janky that being said, I could still follow the story enough and the characters were engaging, and I did enjoy the Greek mythology s…

(Warning: minor spoilers but nothing major) Basically, it's shit. Lol. But it's fun! The plot makes little sense and the translations are clunky, the protagonists seems to change his opinions on a whim and time jumps don't make sense. This show kind of seems like it's on one flow and every seen leads into the next which doesn't really make sense because it's over several years and there are quite a few scenes where the protagonist just passes out or falls asleep and wakes up without any indication for how long it's been. Additionally, the gods (who they call "titans" for some reason, even though, in Greek mythology, they are different) don't really scale. The show talks about how Zeus and Poseidon are "as powerful as each other" which is the reason for the war but what does that mean? Is…

So, I 'm fine with authors writing their take on established stories, legends, etc, but as anything it can turn out to be bad Animation, the only reason that i give it a 7, it's pretty good I like they way that gods are treated more like humans than "superheros", that we are accustomed These are the only goods things on this movies though The gods/titans, they don't act like the original ones, or resemblance them in any aspect, Apollo seems more like Dionysus, and Ares is just a moron, Hercules? a nobody The story just references greek mythology right and left while trying do be the most greek drama of all, including all the tropes (even Deus Ex Machina, why not?), and the villains plans and plot twists are just so confusing, some have no reason, it don't build or advance anything You ca…

I still can't believe I have ever watched this. I survived this only because I haven't seen this alone, if I would, I would probably ended up dead. BUT If you love bad protagonists, randomly flying and dying gods, sister complexes, stop it right there, this movie is for you! Let's start with characters ! Arion - Our protagonist, definitelly not a horse. He is pretty strange, has kinks on EVERYTHING, even his sister ( he founds hot, that his beloved is his sister, loses interest when founding, she is not a sister, why the hell not ).. Anyway, in few seconds he can turn into super OP guy with power to murder half or the Olympic gods and then ends up crying, that he won't be able to kill some gods. You just killed half of them, boy !!! Resphoina - I don't undestand meaning of this ch…

In mythology, Arion was the name of an immortal, divinely-bred horse. In the late 70s, early 80s there was a manga of the same name by Yasuhiko Yoshikazu. In 1986, Sunrise worked on an anime film based of of that manga. If this is actually starring an immortal horse, that could be amazing but I doubt it actually is. So, let's see what this actually takes from the Greek myths. Story: We open with our young and disappointingly human Arion running around when he spots a sketchy looking fellow. This is Hades. Hades has a conversation with Demeter and then promptly whisks Arion away to the Underworld under the pretence of helping him cure his mother's blindness. Because when you think of Hades, people being whisked away and Demeter all together, you think of a horse. Persephone who? Hades te…

Hey, Remember "Clash of the Titans", that silly Sword-and-Sandals action adventure fantasy movie from the 80s? Y'know the one. On the surface it was about how Perseus was a badass hero, but underneath, it was about how the Gods of Olympus were a bunch of sociopathically spoiled douchebags? Remember how they made a grim and mean-spirited remake where the angry anti-theist "Gods are Douchebags" message was right on the surface? Now, Meet "Neo Heroic Fantasia Arion", a grim and mean-spirited Sword-and-Sandals action adventure fantasy movie from the 80s that is about how the Gods of Olympus were a bunch of sociopathically spoiled douchebags? Sure, you'd expect Ares (the God of War) to be a prick, but so is Apollo. In Greek Myth, Apollo was the God of Truth and Light, and he's was supposed t…
