This has got to be the worst season of sheild hero. If it were any other isekai (like season 1 of any other thing), I would have dropped it immediately. I understand the importance of the journey to get all the heroes together, but it was just awful (and I typically enjoy slop, but this was something else entirely). Also, the fight sequences, hmm. It's interesting how Naofumi talks about taking out an entire kingdom towards the end when he doesn't have enough strength to defeat a few assassins. To be honest, them losing their powers and having painfully weak fights reminds me of the bount arc in bleach that I still can't get over. It's the opposite of and yet equally as tiring as those overpowered MCs that have nowhere else to take you in their story that it just becomes redundant. Also, j…

It might have been mild at best before but the mood improves a lot more in this one.
Battles weren't that interesting as it was mostly a hero's quarrel to getting back together.
"Bitch" just keeps messing up the Hero's day, I won't be surprised if she actually loses her head next time.
There was a dragon bit and it felt ridiculously stupid even at the end.
And now there's another matter at the end.
It just feels like the author suddenly made it up on the spot to make up for the 2 months left till the next big battle.
That's such a petty stupid reason but it might be interesting I guess.
I didn't say this before but looking at Filo transformed and in a happy mood makes me grin.
I'd like to see more.
She loves to pull the carriage and it's just so funny.

The weakest season, yet still entertaining
After a second season that had already sharply divided fan opinion, the third season of The Rising of the Shield Hero arrives attempting to get the story back on track. Despite showing some improvements over the previous season, I still consider this the weakest part of the series so far. That doesn't mean it's bad; it simply repeats many elements seen before and loses some of the impact that made the first season stand out so much.
The biggest issue with this season is the constant sense of repetition. The formula remains largely the same: Naofumi solves problems, faces new challenges, strengthens his companions, and pushes forward toward the next Waves. The concept still works, but it no longer possesses the freshness it had at the start of th…

Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2 was trash, but sadly I wasn’t too enthusiastic to jump into this season, but decided to give it a shot anyway in case it surprised me.
Well let’s begin with the plot, Naofumi returns to Melromarc after the whole Spirit Tortoise arc. However when he returns, he gets notified that three kingdoms are in ruin because of the other three cardinal heroes have gone missing. Naofumi must now go on a journey to find them in time to stop the next Guardian Beast while also maintaining his own new kingdom.
One pro I’ll give right off the bat for the plot is the better structure. It essentially splits this season into three mini arcs, now are these arcs necessarily good? Eh, but I’ll get into that, I felt like the pacing did improve a bit though. Now for some of the…

With this installment, Shield Hero definitively proves an axiomatic fact of life. People are visual creatures and they like to look at things and people that are nice to look at. For as much as people have attempted to ferociously fight me on this point and call me shallow, superficial, and all manner of other, uh, more colorful epithets over the years, this settles the matter unequivocally. In the words of DigiBro, “aesthetic is narrative”.
Opinions on season 3 run the gamut from good to bad. Some think it’s great. Some think it’s good. Some think it’s alright. Some think it’s still boring. Some think it’s pretty bad. Regardless, there is one thing everyone seems to unanimously agree on:
It’s orders of magnitude better than season 2.
Season 2 is unanimously considered to be far and awa…

Season 1 and 2 of the Rising of Shield Hero were mainly focused on revenge and improving reputation of the shield hero. Season 3 focused mainly on further soldifying the previous seasons. It needs immense patience to deal with the people who always blame you for all the wrong doing, wrost case you have to negotiate with them. While this season focused on "character development" there are certain aspects it felt completely disconnected, first of the all the arguments between the heroes, and the betrayal letters from bitch, that was so childish, it felt as a ragebait. This could have been presented in a more amazing way. The whole talk about justice, saving people and everything felt kind of hollow, it didn't had any weight to it. Character Development feels more real when the characters are…

What can I say? The anime had a lot of potential, but unfortunately, it falls short in too many areas. There are a lot of missed opportunities to make the story compelling, but the writing and execution fail to deliver. The plot feels all over the place, jumping from one random event to another without a clear direction. While the concept itself could have worked with better writing, the way it was handled here just doesn't do it justice.
One of the biggest issues is the character interactions. They often feel unnatural and childish, almost like something you'd expect from a kindergarten-level dialogue. This lack of depth makes it hard to get invested in the characters or their relationships. Speaking of characters, their development is practically non-existent. There's no growth, no mean…

After a 2nd season disaster, the 3rd season becomes an important lifeline that keeps this isekai relevant. In this season it went back to its roots on what made shield hero an interesting story. Shield hero is a revenge isekai and it was compeling to see the main character interacting with other characters in the world after the betrayal. Naofumi's story then shifts from a revenge story to something different. And that change was done much smoother than the second season. Like the 1st season we get to see great interesting interactions between naofumi and his party and we see actual relevant lore that is important to the story. No more jumble mess that feels like a horrible filler arc! This season feels like a redemption arc for fans who were disappointed on the 2nd season and we appreciat…

- this was some how worse than season 2
- naruto level filler garbage.
- literally in ep5, random as goons come out of no where and attack the shield hero on the road.
They somehow kick his ass despite being the most powerful being in the realm. Then a new side character is introduced by saving the day. The power scaling had completely been destroyed by this season.
- low quality, melted ice cream, stuttery, choppy animation.
- Same failings as Overlord. Season 1 starts off strong as some mysterious Isekai anime. By season 3, world building and plot has been side lined for harem building and corny as hug box dialog between the female characters.

As others have mentioned, this season is a far cry better from the second season. There are still some negatives, but none of the major issues of skipping and speeding through content from the last season is present here. I do wish they would take some time and produce an ONA to go inbetween, something like what Mushoku Tensei did for season 1 and the S1/S2 bridge with the two specials they produced, but I don't think that's likely given the state of the anime and how it seems solely focused on plowing forward.
The writing is top notch (except for a few plot contrivances and convenient characters), and the pacing is actually reasonable this time. We take a bit more of a slice-of-life approach, as the majority of this season follows a "Naofumi, go recruit this guy to the village" routine t…

After completing Season 2, I was genuinely looking forward to Season 3 of The Rising of the Shield Hero. Season 1 had set a high bar. It was intense, emotionally charged, and full of gripping fights that kept me completely invested. In comparison, Season 2 took a more subdued turn, focusing on world events like the Spirit Tortoise arc, which felt necessary for the story but lacked the raw energy of the first season. Still, I gave it a fair 7/10. And now, having finished Season 3, I find myself giving it the same score - for similar reasons.
Season 3 expands the world further and introduces several new characters - most notably Fohl and Alte, both of whom add some interesting dynamics. The narrative shifts more toward political tension, regional conflicts, and party development, which is v…

Great animation and voice acting attempting to rescue a story that continues to get weaker and weaker. That's how this show feels at this point.
Not actually punishing or killing Malty in Season 1 has turned this into some kind of weekly team-rocket ridiculous villain-of-the-week show. Instead of focusing an a pretty interesting world and storyline, we keep sticking with this pathetic cast of side characters that all need redemptions arcs instead of getting abandoned as they should have been
The first season showed so much potential with the gritty revenge plotline, but sadly it never goes back to those heights and only seems to grow more generic as time goes on.
Props to the animators and voice actors to keep it at this quality level, the story alone would've been a 3/10

- The decline of the Shield
It's absolutely terrible to see a star anime slowly falling into the abyss. And since it's not that bad for the first few episodes, you might even enjoy to renew contact with the characters and the story. For a time.
Animation and lighting effects are slightly better. And ... well, that's about it. Everything else seems to have lost its edge, the hard way.
The characters drive and motivation is now an old joke. Even worse, the scenario seems to have lost its way, and the whole "save the world" mojo starts with saving the heroes (the shielded one included) from their own bottomless idiocy. I should also mention how incredibly stupid the side story about Raphtalia sound like, coming out of nowhere. This has to be the worst transition ever.
To me, this season is…

Well, good news everyone ! A slight improvement in animation . Baby steps, but we are getting there. Maybe in season 4 we'll get something even better.I do hope so myself. Now.... The story.... Honestly, contrary to what the masses are telling you, i honestly think story-wise season 3 is the worst . Simply because it reuses some plot points both from season 1 and season 2, before gettin to the actually new stuff. A second sacred beast just after the first went down ? And so much time of respite between them with no more waves? Ehhh.... ? Honestly i wished for the underground arena thing to last more as well. Although it recovers after that with more lore on the parralel worlds. Wanted to get more info on those 2 fellas .Also ... the sole survivor of an entire world... Big stuff . And showin…

Honestly, it was painful to watch until the end, even though there is a dubbed version in my native language, which helps a lot. I didn't like it, and if there is anything to praise, it is that the animation is not bad, but it is also nothing special. It is terrible in all other aspects for a good animation with such a proposal; both the story, development, speed, dramatization, fights, motivations, all of this has been losing ground since the first season and finally in this season I no longer want to see the next season.
Is the story unique? No.
Predictable in the good things and unpredictable in the bad, so it only got right on what we see in every generic adventure anime right. The characters don't even have a defined personality, and in one episode they can be very intelligent and br…

Frankly, this season had some very good ideas. For example, the idea of showing each hero failing in their role to create a parallel with Naofumi, or returning to a more impulsive aspect of our hero at the end of the season, these are very good ideas. The problem is that the execution doesn't follow. If I take the example of the heroes who fail, it's already very unsubtle, with the characters feeling obliged to explain everything out loud without letting the viewer hint at anything, but above all, it's the same reasons that lead them to failure 3 times (and even 4 if you count the case of Naofumi in season 1), the same sequence of events that resolves the situation at breakneck speed, and the same person who causes their downfall. In other words, it's mega-redundant. What's more, the fact…

Already from the first episode, I could tell I would enjoy this a lot more than I did the second season. And I liked the second season just fine, gave it a 5 for my ratings. But I actually felt a bit of excitement when watching season 3, something I felt in the first season but not the second. I was more interested and invested in the plot too, similar to the first season once more.
Also, might I say I love both the opening and the ending of season 3? Because I do. I loved the ending of the first season and liked the opening as well. But the second season was a downgrade for me in everything. But in the third season, I think they made up for it. The opening is spectacular since I adore the animation style. The ending is not anything amazing, but I love the style they went with, so I love…

I'll just say don't watch it, it's almost the same as the 2nd season 😴😴😴😴 only with good animation, the story moves fast and that makes it very predictable.
The only good thing about this season was the fight with the dragon emperor.
The 4th season was announced and it was confirmed that it will be the same director of the previous season.
(3), if so, let's not expect it to be good.
if only they would have adapted it with the same personality of the light novel.
PS - better read the NL or the manga which is much better than the anime

As someone who actually did not hate season 2, I Found this season more disappointing as my expectations were set quite highly
Art - 7/10 Its fine, still has CGI, but its far better CGI than in Season 2, the new character models are quite appealing, overall consistant art style, they really cooked with the fight scenes though. but why she a whale.....
Characters - 7/10 The new characters are far better than the new characters we got last season, the new girl is one of my favourite characters from this show now, just wish she got more screentime and wasnt basically a nurse.
Story - 6/10 Season starts off with an almost tournament arc, the fights in these episodes are especially good. the middle of the season is a more relaxed civilisation building arc, and the last part of the season tru…
