Introduction

As the year nears its end, the time for final exams arrives at Rigarden Magical Academy. Despite being the only student without any magic aptitude, Will Serfort aims to score perfect grades in every subject, which would allow him to ascend to the Wizard's Tower and reunite with his childhood friend, Elfaria Albis Serfort. However, Will's hard work comes tumbling down when he fails the very last, biased exam, disqualifying him from entering the Wizard's Tower. Meanwhile, Elfaria and the other Magia Vander—the five most powerful mages—perform the annual ritual that protects their world from the dangerous Celestial Hosts. As the ritual temporarily leaves the Magia Vander drained of magic, a large army of monsters suddenly appears and begins attacking mages and civilians alike. To make matters worse, the mages are unable to hold off the invasion due to the monsters' special weaponry that nullifies their magic. Refusing to let the world end in despair, Will and his masterful swordsmanship quickly become a cornerstone in stopping the attack. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

I do not recommend this show, season 1 was promising, but season 2 was a let down. The animation was the only thing that was good. The first arc in the second season was just sadness dumping, but it gets really repetitive. One death after another, it's like the characters live for the MC. The characters don't feel real, it feels very artificial. The MC is extremely bland, he's just ambitious, and he only got strong because of some random yellow hair dude telling him something. The only reason why people will feel bad is because the story uses lousy narration techniques. It is extremely corny. ALL the characters behave in a way to serve the plot. Almost everything is too convenient, like how he just powered up after 2 deaths. This show is only good for animation. Would not recommend for p…

TLDR: Watch till episode 4 and drop it. For real. the firts 4 episodes continue story from first season and its great. sure it also has flaws but in the end it does leave you with an amazing end and you only ask yourself why this was not part of season 01. after that it goes downhill fast. In a longer version/rant. If you liked the battles and stuff but hated the obvious stupid side chars and how mc gets treated by everyone you can enjoy the 4 episodes as well. after that the stupidity goes up by an untold amount. we hear already in season 1 how everyone acknowledges his power and knows they need him. we learn already then that they prepare for an huge battle and need all the talent and power they need but everyone treats mc and his life like a joke. that only gets worse. there are multip…

The anime is good; compared to the first season, we get more backstory on the protagonist—who or what he actually is. It’s interesting. The animation and soundtrack are great, and the character development is solid, even if the protagonist's companions are kind of a bunch of assholes. That said, the new characters are great and have unique personalities. The world has a lot of potential for exploration; the situation unfolding there gives me a bit of an *Attack on Titan* vibe. The only thing I’ll say about the romance is: just give me a kiss, you Japanese characters who never actually hook up. I’m just asking for a kiss—like, come on, just kiss already. Aside from that, it’s a really good, entertaining anime. En Español: El anime esta bueno, en comparacion a la primera temporada vemos mas…

This anime is literal trash. The story is predictable, linear, and average. I don't have an issue with stories like that if they have good animation, but this one does NOT. Except for a couple of episodes, everything else is horrible. There’s barely any movement when they talk; there’s no illusion of them being alive. It feels like you're just reading a manga with well-drawn and polished images for almost the entire season. At least Season 1 was better; there was more movement there to make up for the average story That’s why I find it strange that it’s so well-received. I guess it’s because many people relate to the protagonist in you-know-what, because that’s the only explanation. There’s nothing else If you are someone looking for a good story, this one has a generic story. If you are…

One thing to say before the rest, if you have watched the first one and now are in doubt, go watch that without qualms. The first one was strange. It is a rare case of action anime that I've watched with a yawn. Yes. Action anime. With a yawn. As the implementation was good despite a bit of armor, it was immediately clear it is a problem of the source, not the series. But still, with all of its awkward spiraling pacing and source doing two downs after one up on every story progression, it just blunted all the sharp edges rendering the result being unable to entertain and keep you thrilled. Earning many more than just few yawns per episode. Still, the second one picks up its pace well. The anime team finally got the hang of handling the lazy source beast, and so it is decent now. It keeps…

Not even average anime like this one are safe. The direction is terrible, the storytelling is awful, they rush through parts where they shouldn't, and they drag out completely irrelevant scenes. Everything is dreadful, the storyboard looks like it was made by amateurs. It’s trash; it honestly surprises me that it has such a high rating The animation quality dropped drastically. Season 1 was good or acceptable, but this one is below average. Mind you, I’m talking about animation quality, not design quality, because the design is fine, it has good shading, which keeps the characters from looking flat. But when it comes to movement and fluidity, it’s total garbage. Everything is wrong; it’s literally PowerPoint, Only episode 4 and episode 11 have movement, the rest has the animation of a gen…

Watching Wistoria: Wand and Sword is torture. I just have this horrible feeling that they might not even release a third season after ending on such an interesting part. And honestly, this is becoming way too common with anime adaptations nowadays—they give us one or two seasons, end things right when the story gets really interesting, and then just disappear. As someone who prefers experiencing stories through anime adaptations rather than reading the source material, it’s genuinely frustrating. I just want to see the story continue animated instead of being left hanging at the most interesting point. Please give us Season 3.

8/10 It's good overall, are there things I could criticise? absolutely. The pacing was weird, I felt the first 1-2 episode were acceleration really fast like a ton of stuff happened which was good but also a little much. And then after that the opposite happens. It feels like we spend 12 episode on roughly like maybe 2 weeks. Or at least those last 10 episode felt like it was a short period. Multiple episode were spent on essentially the same problem and a big part of this season was simply "getting into the tower after already making it in" the whole school thing was kind of out of the window. I really enjoyed the backstories though they were well done quite emotional, they handled most characters well and they didn't do the lame stereotype which I feared they might do to Julius they actu…

(Mostly) GREAT animation and eye candy, held back by copy-pasta and the power of friendship. At this point, it should be clear that whole scenes from DanMachi are copied over and sprinkled with glitter to make them look a bit different, and there was obviously more and more of the "wow MC so strong", most of which without feeling deserved. I usually don't mind OP MCs, but it is kind of off-puting chalking it up to tireless effort of which we have been shown almost none and (as the show progresses) appears to be mostly a congenial thing (he was just born different). And let's not forget that at the core it is the power of love and friendship and courage (LITERALLY CALLED OUT IN THE SHOW) that fuels our MC. Other than this BS, it has some nice world-building, plenty of nice ideas, interest…

I have just noticed that I forgot to post the review for this one and, as I already forgot some of the stuff that happened in it, I might make some small mistakes here and there (might & small being the important bits). Sorry. Visuals. Meh, at best. Same art style. Same designs. Same colour palette. I think it looked somewhat better in the previous season but that might be just the "nostalgia" talking. Now it feels rushed, or on a lower budget. Or its a deliberate choice, to make it feel more dynamic. You know, more like the animation you see in some very rushed, explosive, fast-paced action scenes. But again, thats just me. Maybe the art is exactly the same. It doesnt look bad. Some of the animation is a bit weird in some scenes (for example, fast-paced means just looping 2 frames with a…

This series is infuriating to me because I think the premise could've been more served by them working together rather than one being the lofty goal the other. Especially considering their combined goal was to climb the tower together to see the sunset together. There are plenty of things they could've done differently instead of having one go ahead of the other, most obvious being that Elfaria waited for him while they both progressed together instead of just simply waiting at the end for Will. Both could have made the ascension together in smaller increments, remaining actually together. If not that then she could've at least come down to see him sneakily if not exactly permitted, but more than that they somehow could've kept in communication. Honestly, these types of Anime keep me so an…

I'm going to start this by saying I liked Season 1, I thought it was pretty solid, it had good worldbuilding, good pacing and it balanced the action with the story, it also brought in a few unresolved threads to keep you watching. It wasn't perfect but it had a quality of its own. Season 2 looks great, it has great action scenes and... that's it It doesn't really progress the story, it doesn't really add to the worldbuilding, it doesn't tie up any of the unresolved threads, if anything it just adds an increasing amount of them. It doesn't do much of anything except chase the renewed trend of epic fight scenes 'because epic fight scenes are epic' But we've been here before with anime, sure you create a feast for the eyes and in the moment, but without substance people move onto the next sp…

Season 2 was everything I hoped for and even better. From the very beginning, the story kept building the tension until it reached an incredible climax with the final war. Every episode felt important, and the payoff at the end was absolutely worth the wait. The war arc was my favorite part of the season. The battles were intense, emotional, and beautifully animated. It wasn't just about flashy action—the characters' struggles, sacrifices, and determination gave every fight real meaning. I was completely invested from start to finish. Will continues to grow as a character, proving once again that his strength comes from his unwavering resolve rather than talent alone. Seeing everyone fight together against overwhelming odds made the story even more impactful, and the emotional moments du…

Man there are some shows that just hit different. You know those animes where you are halfway through and you start slowing down on purpose because you genuinely do not want it to end? Wistoria Wand and Sword is that for me. Both seasons. I finished Season 2 last night and I am still sitting here with this weird warm sad feeling in my chest like I just said goodbye to friends I have known for years. Season 1 already had me hooked with its whole kid who cannot use magic in a magic school but swings a sword like a beast vibe. It was fun it was underdog story done right and the friendship and rivalry stuff felt earned. But Season 2? It went somewhere deeper. The first few episodes caught me completely off guard they get pretty dark pretty fast. I was legit worried the show was about to take…

An unfortunate case of pilot syndrome. A strong first season that, while following a formulaic premise, told that theme in a gripping way. The character archetype of being the winter lamb inside an established power system but having overwhelming strength in their own way is not anything new. But the way of displaying that unique power is where the creative freedom of the author really shines. And while this show has yet to really set up what it can really do, it would be an overstatement to say that it has a grip on anyone outside of minor curiosity. Which is a shame because what it does well, is unlike any other.

The first and probably only review I will make on MAL, as I tend to keep reccs and opinions on anime for my friends soley. However, Wistoria is my exception. Watching the first season all the back during the Summer 2024 season was a surprise. It is super unique to the point I woke up on time to watch the newest episodes before going to my job at the time. The world, premise and motivations of the cast is beautiful. The OST is ingrained in my head to a point I'm certain that in 10 years, if someone were to play the tracks "Googles" or "Ignis Wis" I **WILL** trigger like a sleeper agent and start crying. I had to pleasure to experience the first season 4 times in two years. Each subsequent rewatch is me going through it with friends (some with once friends and others current), hearing…

I feel like it's one of those animes where you don't have to take everything too seriously. It's not as complex as the saga of One Piece, for example, but it's unfair to compare. Magic anime always have the same elements. And there's nothing wrong with that; at the end of the day, that's what attracts people who like to watch that style of anime. For example, I really like isekais where you know the protagonist will always be overpowered, and that's simply because I don't like to overthink a series I want to watch just for entertainment. To each their own. That's why I don't think it's a bad anime; the animation is beautiful, it speaks of the value of each person despite adversity, it speaks of redemption, of being better people and not excluding anyone. It has very good values that it wan…

After giving season 1 a 10/10 (to my tastes) I have high hopes for this show. I give season 2 a 7/10 for solely one reason. No spoilers ahead. There's a "plot twist" at episode 8 that renders the remaining episodes of the season a complete waste of time as literally nothing of substance happens what so ever. Any toddler can perfectly guess at exactly what happens for the remaining 4 episodes, it is THAT cliche. It honestly feels insulting to have my time wasted by a show I thought had great potential. I will still come and watch season 3, but season 2 is just a massive downgrade in the story and character development department from season 1. I hope season 3 brings the show back to what it once was.

Wistoria : Wand and Sword Season 2 To be described in one word ? " Majestic " The anime has everything one could ask for Insane fight scenes, well written characters, stunning animations and if anything one of the best FMC for of the generation of action anime with a hint of romance, While Will itself is a great character but Elfaria just steals the show ! The season one had some slow directions as they focused more on everyone trusting Will rather than cheering him and Will making friends and acquiring Wis for the first time after his childhood but this season focused more on showing Elfie's love towards Will and Will getting better at Wis and drawing out his magic on his own which was * ABSOLUTE CINEMA * and joining the lightening faction . Its such a happiness that they announced S…

The second season of Wistoria: Wand and Sword remains entertaining, but suffers from a lack of solid substance when considering the uninspired storytelling, odd pacing, limited worldbuilding, and trope dependence. Moreover, from a narrative perspective, the majority of conflict stems from the repetitive crux of opposition and rejection of the main character rather than minor antagonists or potential threats. However, minus some infrequent lows, the production remains well-produced, especially in opening and ending sequences and action choreography. And while certainly not unpredictable, there were some satisfying arc outcomes and endearing scenes with Will and Elfaria. Unfortunately, this series still needs more originality in its writing.
