Wonder Egg Priority: Watashi no Priority

Introduction

Ai Ooto is finally at the cusp of unraveling the mystery behind her best friend's suicide. After stepping into the strange dreamlike world of the Wonder Egg and sparing people from their adversities, she reaches her end goal of resurrecting her friend from death. Yet, now with her friend alive, Ai is confused and hurt after realizing that she does not remember her anymore. She is not the only one who has been alienated by the person she saved. In fact, the other girls caught up in the affairs also face the same repercussions for bringing someone back to life. As they try to grasp their new reality, the girls come to terms with the trauma from their "mission" and question whether they should dive back into the Wonder Egg to uncover the truth behind everything. A Mediocre Special for a Work That Never Reached Its Full Potential Wonder Egg Priority was one of those anime that caught attention right from the first episodes. Its premise was different from what we usually see in the industry, addressing heavy themes such as depression, suicide, trauma, bullying, and other psychological problems through a narrative full of symbolism and fantastical elements. For much of its run, it seemed like we were witnessing something truly special. Unfortunately, both the series and this special ended up demonstrating that a good premise isn't always enough to sustain a great work. Wonder Egg Priority: Watashi no Priority emerges with the mission of concluding and clarifying the events left open by the main anime. However, instead of delivering satisfactory ans…

It is rare for me to see such an anticlimactic finale, and I am familiar with many endings like that. Sadly, the anime we are talking about here is "Wonder Egg Priority". The main TV series had its charm, and the whole story definitely did not deserve a conclusion like the one presented in "Wonder Egg Priority: Watashi no Priority. After hearing a long time ago that half of this episode was just a recap, and the second half actually provided new content, I decided to wait before watching it. While waiting, I heard many critical opinions about it. It made me curious. I wanted to see with my own eyes whether it was as bad as people said. Perhaps they were overexaggerating? Unfortunately, most of the negative comments appeared to be correct. It is a bad finale. Really bad. It wraps up the p…

This anime is a continuity of the original show. It explain what happens next. The first half of this episode is a summary of the entire anime. I love it so much because its been a year since the last time I watch the original show. Such a good refresher of how good the anime was, until it isn't. The lackluster ending of the original show felt by many fan to be dissapointing, including me. I assume you all know how it ends if you considering watching this OVA. Should you watch this tho? This episode only worth watching for the summary because its actually explain the event very good. But again, there's literally zero reason to watch the summary, just rewatch the whole anime. The second half of the anime, the supposed continuity of the original show is very confusing, at least it is to me.…

I can't help but imagine me, sitting there, waiting for a conclusion, for SOMETHING to elicit some form of cohesion, getting excited fora one hour long special, a finale, a sendoff for these characters and their struggles and then nothing just a whole lot of nothing. There is nothing to discuss or write about it, because there just isn't anything here. The worst part, the ultimate punch in the guts to what could have been a great experience, the fucking capstone to this show, is the last frame before the credits. Just, saccharine, cynical awfulness, it's the show looking you dead in the eyes and saying "Teehee, gotcha, right? this was good right? We definitely hit all the beats to get like... so many people invested, right? Doesn't matter that this conclusion is 50% recap, 50% technoba…

To be honest, watching just the 12 episodes of the original "Wonder Egg Priority" wraps the series enough. "My Priority" feels like weird, over budgeted short saying "we know series was weird, psychological and psychedelic, but please, buy the merch and subscribe for more ". That's how I feel. It doesn't close any plot lines beyond what was already said or hinted, it is mostly a recap, and as stated in first sentence - it feel a bit unnecessary. Production value meets bar set by the series, all is good in the sound, art, acting... It is just pointless story wise. Watching this months after finishing the original 12 episodes feels weird. Everything feels touched, turned and spoiled somehow. Like prequel or sequel to already tired franchise, "My priority" made me feel as if watching the o…

This Special seems to be the ending for Wonder Egg Priority and it's hands down one of the worst endings I've ever seen. The special starts off weak with a recap meaning its original content is only half of the 45 minutes. After the recap the story does continue where it left off, with Ai awakening. The story then goes on to answer the original question of what would happen after the girls who committed suicide were revived, which is the only good thing about this entire special yet disappointing at the same time. Then there's all the stuff about the new plot that got introduced in the new anime with AI, increased suicide rates, alternate universes, warriors of Eros... which the special completely ignores and doesn't say anything about. This is particularly stupid because the anime could…

As a fan of the first half of Wonder Egg Priority, I eagerly anticipated the special episode that was supposed to shed light on the confusing and incomplete ending of the original show. However, upon watching it, I was disappointed and perplexed. The special episode, spanning 46 minutes, failed to provide a satisfying resolution or explanation for the unresolved plotlines and character arcs from the original series. The first 23 minutes of the special episode recap the entire show. This felt redundant and repetitive for people who had already seen the original episodes. While it could have been a helpful refresher for those who may not have watched the show before (you will be very lost if you start here), it added no new insights or clarifications to the confusing ending. Instead, the fi…

Please just don't bother. The show in itself is really really good IF you ignore the existence of this special. Half the Special is basically a TLDR of the entire show and the other half takes a decent ending anime and walks all over it in an attempt to leave the door open for a secound season I guess. It all just feels like an afterthought and is not worth 46 Minutes of your time if you have seen the show. Really there isn't anything more to say in 23 Minutes you grow to dislike many of the Characters you grew to love over the 12 previous episodes, you are presented with a bunch of new questions you never asked during the show and for which answers you do not care for and get no conclusions to the questions left unanswered by the show which you would have actually cared about...

This special was horrible. As much as I like the initial anime, the 12th episode of this series left a lot of... questions, and it didn't really get the chance to be what it wanted to be due to problems with staff and production. But then they announced this special and there was a glimmer of hope. People expected this special to be the real ending of the series, explaining and fleshing out the conclusion of this show. But once it came out, it was honestly better to just not watch it. The first 20 min is literally just a recap of previous events. People were already skeptical about how this special would conclude the show in just 40 mins of time, so the fact that the first 20 min is recap is honestly hilarious. And the other 20 mins of "new content" has nothing to be desired. Not only do…

The special episode starts with a recap, it ends at 25 minutes in. Some people say you shouldn't watch it, but if you want to know what happens with their friends, you really do have to watch it. They also don't cop out with the reason they were going to the other world, and the way it works makes sense, it's how I expected it to be anyway. The Jimmy Neutron shit makes more sense too, and goes along with what happened earlier in the show. It does end on a cliffhanger, but with everything revealed and a clear idea of what's gonna happen next. It might get another season, if it did I'd watch it. People say the special is depressing and you shouldn't watch it, I think it ends on a hopeful note, though it does kind of breeze past some things.

** SPOILERS ** Wonder Egg Priority... why did it have to end there?! It leaves it way open, and most people don't understand it. I kinda did, towards the end though. It's just so sad it had to end there. I'm not upset about the recap because I had forgotten the story up until the point where it has gotten to. I haven't been watching anime for a number of months. It has been difficult to find the time now. But wow... one of the best Winter's 2021's best series just ending like that? Maybe if they did a season 2, things would be better. Just like, put TO BE CONTINUED on the screen at the end. And the disappointing part? There most likely not be another season, or a film. It is just a disappointment. We've basically wasted three months of our lives for this one episode. Well, most of us d…

I'm going to keep this brief because I've already written a review on WEP's first 12 episodes and don't feel like making another rant on this garbage. Spoilers I guess. I knew this episode would be bad but holy crap was it even worse than I expected. It was an absolute mess of a narrative, it was pretentious beyond all belief, everyone is unlikable, nothing important happens, the ending is sequel bait (and cringy as all hell), and the reveal on why a certain bespectacled girl killed herself is so laughably bad and disgusting that it throws the whole show into question. Koita didn't even commit suicide! Her death was an accident and turns out she's a complete monster who deserved it anyway! What the hell was the point of Ai's journey then? What was the point of any of this? Hot garbage. 3…

Haiku review: What fresh hell is this? "Wonder Egg Priority" Dies by suicide Longer version (because haiku reviews aren't mainstream yet): One thing that anime can do really well is deal with issues, especially issues its primarily young viewers are likely to face. Consider "Rascal Doesn't Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai," or, in its way, any of the Monogatari series, for example. Suicide, especially among young Japanese people driven by ever-higher expectations, isolation, and fear of failure, is a real issue in Japan today. It was this issue that "Wonder Egg Priority" sought to tackle. And in every respect, it failed. Things started off well enough. The show was captivating from the first notes of "Sudachi no Uta," last heard as the ED of episode 21 of "Nichijou," which announced that thi…

I'm really not normally one to write reviews -- the last time I wrote a review (and also first time, might I add) I only wrote to warn people with photosensitive epilepsy about extreme amounts of flashing in something I watched, while attempting to tack on somewhat of a proper review so it didn't feel pointless. I'm just not good at writing out my thoughts in this sort of formal, long form format, and thus I don't enjoy doing so. The WEP special though has me so blown away (in a bad way, obviously, based on my score) that I just have to write *something*. I wasn't expecting some big explosive end to everything like some people seem to be thinking anyone giving this special a low score was, and I frankly didn't 100% mind the recap either. I was just expecting there to be something to tie u…

Wow. That episode (and it was a 20 minute episode) was one of the worst conclusions that I've ever seen. It was so bad that it invoked so little emotion that it wasn't even unsatisfying. It was just bad. The last few episodes of the main series already seemed to have came out of nowhere, but it seemed to have been setting up *something* at the very least. This final episode throws away any and all setup that was established in those episodes, and pulls out plot twists as if it were perfectly normal. Aside from throwing out any and all setup, the conflict in this episode wasn't even resolved in the slightest. I know that there have been many reviews complaining about loose ends. I think that loose ends in an ending is fine, if done right. Except it wasn't done right at all. Not only did the…

What a cesspool of an ending to an already unimpressive show. I enjoyed some of the aspects of this show, mainly the art style and the music. Though some of the character designs and animation in action sequences felt lackluster when compared to the rest of the show, I generally looked past those things. My main problem with this show is its script. It's not good. It had potential, but the execution was dogshit. This special or the grand finale was just pathetic. The story went nowhere, it feels incomplete and if they are planning to make another season then imo this was a bad point to leave the first one. I am thoroughly disappointed, whatever hope I had with this show went to the shitter with this finale.

I have literally never wrote a review for any form of media ever, but Jesus Christ I just have to talk about how horrible this was. This without a doubt feels like a scam. The anticipation for this was awaited by many people, including myself, only to be extremely let down. It honestly just feels like a huge insult, the show itself is GREAT, but towards the end everything fell apart. That leads me to say, what the absolute hell even happened? Nothing made sense, the story was in shambles and you had no idea what's going on. Not to mention what the FUCK was that 25 minute recap? Wasn't there already a recap 2 episodes prior? Another let down was all the character development for everyone went right down the drain it felt like. No one got a good ending it seems, even the viewers lmao. Al…

This is a special from the seasonal anime with the same name. The original anime was felt rushed with too many things introduced near the end. And to make up for the Clif hanger ending they have 40 minute special where half of it is a recap and the other is closure that really doesn't explain anything. At the end of the anime they had the fear of going to sleep because of the fear of being killed. And that seems to be no where. And when I say "closure" I mean it being open to another season. You should watch it if you watched the anime but skip about the first half. It's all recap.

Don't want to be mean, but whoever wrote this special, and whoever agreed to this writing needs to be fired and banned from anime to be honest. I'm so sick of anime originals getting butt fucked by the last episode since no one knows how to write a good ending anymore.. Everything that I feared Wonder Egg would do at the end is basically what happens. One of the big problems I had with the TV show is that it didn't make sense and a lot wasn't explained by the end.It felt like the special was aware of that then it just says “Haha suck my wonder egg dick” and the special raises even more questions. No amount of explanation will ever make sense anymore. The only and I mean only things that get explained was the reason behind Koito’s death which was just the fucking worst examples of writing I h…
