Anime like Chainsaw Man: 5 dark action picks
Chainsaw Man is a shonen story with a grubby, adult edge: the fights are brutal, the humour is blunt, and nobody is fully heroic. These picks keep that discomfort.
If you want another messy antihero
These picks share the part of the original that matters most. Use the notes to choose the tone, length and setting you want next.
Jujutsu Kaisen
Supernatural combat, a team of young fighters and a power system with costs. It is cleaner and more structured.
Dorohedoro
Magic, violence and a cast of freaks. The world is stranger and the comedy is deadpan.
Devilman Crybaby
Demons, body horror and a bleak escalation. It is shorter, more explicit and much darker.
Parasyte -the maxim-
A body invasion, a reluctant partnership and questions about humanity. It is more psychological and less comedic.
Hellsing Ultimate
Vampires, gore and a powerful antihero. It is more theatrical and less grounded.
