Anime like Demon Slayer: 5 dark sword-fighting picks
Demon Slayer pairs clean sword choreography with a simple emotional engine: protect the people who are left. These picks keep one or both, from historical demon hunts to modern curse battles.
If you want another demon hunt
These picks share the part of the original that matters most. Use the notes to choose the tone, length and setting you want next.
Jujutsu Kaisen
Modern supernatural combat, a team of young fighters and stylish set pieces. It is more ensemble-driven and less historical.
Chainsaw Man
Devil hunting, brutal action and a cast with rough edges. The humour is darker and the violence more explicit.
Dororo
A cursed swordsman, a travelling companion and a historical demon hunt. It is more sombre and episodic.
Rurouni Kenshin
Sword fights, a wandering hero and a code about killing. The tone is more optimistic and the animation older.
Sword of the Stranger
A film-length sword story with precise action and a reluctant protector. It is the shortest, most focused pick.
