Bartender is an anime that for me I might consider a guilty pleasure. but that is not to say that it is something to feel guilty about watching. Bartender is simply a quaint little anime, offering itself as an escape from the constant humdrum of life and allowing the cast of characters and the audience alike to come into a hole in the wall bar that seems like it belongs in some fantasy setting, cast off their stress, and come out feeling ready to face the world once again. It is absolutely a feel good anime, that somehow sucks me in every time I watch it and I suspect it might have that effect on others too. short episodic stories lazily play out on screen, told by a soft spoken narrator, almost as if we were hearing the story from a bartender themselves. It is a slow anime, meant to be sa…

Story (8) : Honestly, I didn't expect the anime to be this good. From my POV, the atmosphere is what helps make this story interesting. From the Eden Hall Bar, it is very comfortable and a private bar. so only a few customers can occupy it, so it's quiet and not crowded. The bar is just a few chairs, a bar counter, lights that are not too bright but orange so it feels comfortable, then a fan. The location is also hidden and quite dark, but that's what makes it feel mysterious because Eden Hall Bar is indeed mysterious. When you enter the bar it feels very quiet and only one bartender is serving. Honestly, I just watched it and felt that this place was mysterious and the bartender was like a ghost. like in an anime death parade. suddenly you're in this bar without knowing anything. That'…

In this place you can find a bartender that is considered a master at creating cocktails. He is one of a kind and is known by many to serve some of the best drinks. Following one’s belief that just as every person has their own story so does every drink. No two cocktails are exactly the same. That is a truth I can speak of. So with a remake airing in a couple of weeks from this video. I thought it would be great to show some attention to a fun relaxing anime that I have enjoyed for the past many years. So pull up a stool and join me as I weave the tail about the glass of the gods. This is an anime that no one outside of the real culture anime fans talk about and that depresses me. Because there are some great stories here and I feel like more people should hear them. Not to mention the…

Bartender is a quiet, episodic anime that tells several short stories throughout its total runtime, each one of these stories' characters compounding with the episodic nature of the anime itself, all the while maintaining a surprisingly sobering atmosphere for a series about drinks. The writing of the show is fine--it thematically romanticizes what it means to have a drink and the role that a good bartender can play, even momentarily, in someone else's life. A lot of the writing is informative too, as the show dabbles in real concoctions and drinks, and so it offers explanations within its storylines. The characters introduced per episode are also fine, though it is difficult to call any of them supporting cast as the main character Ryuu is the focal point of the show. Eventually these ch…

Bartender is not your everyday slice of life in a workplace. Bartending genius Ryu Sasakura runs Eden Hall, a bar in downtown Tokyo where he serves different customers a spirit to sooth their soul every episode. There is no overarching plot in the anime, it's an episodic series. Each story is self contained with the consistent character being Sasakura. Everyone else only returns to narrate the customer's story in a later episode. Every guest presents a new challenge for Sasakura as he crafts the perfect drink to the person's taste. He uses cocktails to rectify relationship, call people out, break writer's block, and so many more. Most character development is left to the new arrivals, but Sasakura goes through his own arc as we learn his backstory and of some past failures. The only time…

Bartender is a fine example of a show which is driven by its premise and nothing else to back it up. *lifts bottle* As long as you fancy the basic formula of how each episode plays out, you will get one hell of a series. If on the other hand you expect something more… mainstream should I say? With action, plot, plot twists, development, and a powerful ending, then DON’T EVEN BOTHER! *bottoms up* The story is quite the simple one. There is this fancy bar where people go and tell their life’s problem to the barman. The barman listens to them and after a cool metaphor regarding different types of liquors from around the world, and how combining them into a specific cocktail creates a very specific flavor, the customers feel refreshed and may even reach to important revelations regarding the…

Bartender is a testament to the vast scope and creativity of anime as a medium. Not only that, but it feels refreshingly distinct among anime in particular, something which very clearly has its roots in the more experimental creative currents present in 2006. Once you get down to it Bartender is an unassuming, perhaps even rough around the edges, title from 2006, but by a couple episodes in, once you really engage with it, its true character is revealed. Like a cocktail that hides its flavors on the back of your palette, this anime blooms into something special soon after you begin. Starting with the story, it is easily the strongest aspect of this anime. It impresses in both content and execution. Immersed in cocktail history and bartending culture from start to finish, it manages to be i…

The beauty of a show like "Bartender" is that while ostensibly a show about different customers in a bar being served by the eponymous bartender, the reality is that *you* are the customer. The bar in the story is not just a refuge for the troubled and weary dramatis personae, it is also yours (and perhaps you, too, may be in need of a moment's sanctuary from the world outside the bar). The bartender is not just an ally serving the perfect drink for the other characters in the anime, he's serving you a tale as you sit unseen in his bar. You feel the same emotions and the same relaxation as his customers might, because the set-up is that simple, and the tales are so very basically human that anyone can relate to them. No monsters or giant robots or superpowers or other dimensions here. Just…

The story follows a little bar in a secluded corner of Ginza district named 'Eden Hall'. It's operated by Ryu Sasakura, a genius bartender with a special talent of mixing cocktails that can relieve his customers' discomfort by putting each of their souls at ease. This unmatchable talent of his earned him the nickname 'Glass of the God'. His drinks work like healing potions for each of his customers whenever they come to Eden Hall to share their problems with Ryu. Bartender is a slow placed episodic anime with 11 standalone episodes. Each of the episodes are focused on supporting characters with different backgrounds and their stories. The anime doesn't have any overarching plot or story arcs as it's focused on single episode storytelling. One of it's main themes is 'Iyashikei', which is c…

Graced with fun pop and jazz music, Bartender is an enjoyable slice-of-life that isn't bogged down by the overly mundane. The story line is pretty simple and you'll catch on to the series' premise quickly. What I found enjoyable is that every episode is linked by both Eden Hall and Ryu Sasakura and takes place in the same setting, but also manages to feel different from each other. Every episode tells a different story by bringing in a different customer. One thing I didn't like is the lack of clarity in the last episode. Throughout the story we're lead to believe that Eden Hall is owned by Ryu, but the last episode seems to say other wise. It's also unclear if Eden Hall closes for the evening or permanently. While the lack of clarity doesn't hurt the series drastically, I think the endi…

Thought I'd make a quick review since it got licensed. Please go out and buy it! We need more anime like this! Before I get to the categories, I want to mention that I don't drink but still love this anime to death! Story: an episodic anime about an amazing bartender who serves people drinks while listening to their problems. Sometimes when they ask for a drink he serves them what he thinks best fits their taste. He is the god of alcohol. 9/10 Art style: the characters looked good. Not the best character design you'll ever see. Though when the drinks are mixed it looks really impressive. 10/10 Music: it has a very nice jazzy opening. One of my favorites! I also love the more slower ending theme. 10/10 Characters: you don't get much development since it's episodic, but still great. I lo…

Bartender: an anime about a little known hole in the wall bar where they don't display the menu or price because this place is waaaaaay too classy for that noise. It's the kind of joint where everybody knows your name (except we don't, because every character is some faceless nobody who is gone by the end of the episode) And they're always glad you came (except me because this anime is boring pretentious drivel) You know, I like to think of myself as a connoisseur of alcohol (an alcoholic) so you would think I would like an anime all about alcohol. But dear lord does this show suck all the fun out of drinking. The whole thing reads like it was written by some sad shut-in who only ever viewed booze from a distance or read about it in a scientific journal. The characters are boring, the pl…

In a Nutshell.. - Conversation driven anime The Long Story It is a show for alcohol lovers. Life lesson lovers.. and anime lovers.... If you love anime, give this one a shot, if you are not sold with episode one then, Come back later on any episode. The show mostly depicts stories that you can hear from any common watering wholes. Although the shows presents bartending and alcohol as being high class, it does not discriminate or segregate from classes. The show is episodic, it does not have a linear plot progression. It is a slice of slife an anime. It mostly contains life lessons and especially drinking lessons and it is very helpful when you are not educated with drinking manners, I blame that on your guardians. It is conversation driven, and can be your gate way to drinking if you…

So beautiful and heartwarming and healing. I didn't want it to end and yet, it was the perfect length. The animation during the mixing was a bit dorky. But the stories and the characters. They took my breath away because they felt so viscerally real and beautiful. I think i can honestly say that i related a tiny bit to every single one of them. I love how the story was told and the calm feeling of it all The recipes at the end with the live action outro was the cherry on top. Art wise, it's nothing groundbreaking but it feels familiar and warm like a good hug Now i just have to deal with the urge to become a bartender myself haha

The bar. A place of peace and tranquillity. A place where, no matter what your background, you're always welcome. A place where you can just forget all of your worries and relax. And most important of all, it's a place of alcohol. Bartender follows the story of, you guessed it, a bartender, named Sasakura Ryuu. We watch as he welcomes his customers with a welcoming smile as they walk through the hefty doors of Eden Hall. Although their stories and personalities may differ, they're all there for the same reason. To get a taste of the famous, "Glass of God". But, little do they know that the "Glass of God" isn't a specific drink, but is a drink made for them. A drink that'll rid them of all previous worries. A drink that'll change them for the better. Just as a good drink should. Bartender…

Providing a glimpse of the many ways that people hurt and find healing, Bartender is a very relaxed, thoughtful, and classy anime that you might want to watch between the myriad of action anime out there. If you want an anime that is very much what it seems, this a great choice. Some of its plot hooked me more than other parts but I could see how someone could enjoy any of them. One criticism is that this anime is a bit information heavy. It goes into detail about a drink's history each episode, and while I found that somewhat interesting, it could be more information to absorb than I cared to. I also think I would've preferred if the characters' stories unraveled throughout the series rather than episodically so I could be more invested. Maybe not. I may rewatch it sometime and see if I…

The first four episodes are so skilfully delivered I was tempted to give it 10 based on them alone. The calm, welcoming, mysterious atmosphere reflected through the bartender's own personality is stunning. The way each episode has a clear story which resonates with the viewer is also incredible, all centred around the aptly named Eden Hall. The direction is refreshing, sometimes feeling like theatre sometimes feeling surrealist, but it definitely felt classy yet teased you with cocktails and customers laying themselves bare. Episode 3 is a must watch at the very least, the end is flipping gorgeous! However, after the first four it loses its punch and zeal, although still great, it doesn't live up to the highs of the first few episodes and that's a great shame. Nonetheless I would defin…

As weird as it may sound... I don't love alcohol, but still found this enjoying. So, if you are not fond of alcohol (or have an interest just in one type), it doesn't mean you can't watch this one. All of these categories got 9. Story Well, there isn't really a story. Each episode stands on its own. Sometimes previous characters become storytellers, but you can watch them in any order (except for the last one). So don't expect some special development. Each story of its own has its uniqueness. It combines elements of life with alcohol. You can believe it's really idiotic at the end of the day, but they made it beautifully in the anime. Art Ummm... Nothing special for both sides. Sound Some soundtracks were nice, I guess... I didn't like the opening. Characters Each character has his\…
