I'd say the main appeal of this show was the animation. The character designs are extremely cute and visually appealing, and the effects look cool as well. You don't need to read either Tsuki or Fate to watch it (though it helps), as most of the characters are extreme parodies of their real counterparts that usually focus on their comedic elements. However, it is good to enter in with at least a basic idea of the main Type Moon casts like Saber or Arc. Anyway, the shows a comedy and is pretty easy to watch. None of the "deep" themes like in the VNs. Overall a fun experience that you probably finish in a few days or one sitting (most of the episodes are usually between 10-15 minutes).

I LOVE Carnival Phantasm, probably to an irrational degree. There's so much I have to say about this show even though it's only like 2 hours long in total, but that just speaks to the depth and quality of the work. The bottom line here is that I think this series stands among Kaguya-Sama and Nichijou as one of the greatest comedy anime of all time, but that's only IF you have a cursory knowledge of Type-Moon's body of media.
I am not really a Fate fan. I liked ufotable's UBW adaptation and Apocrypha was an above-average show, but I'm not as fanatical about the franchise as the rest of this review might lead you to believe. I am, however, a massive fan of Tsukihime, a game that I will hopefully play at some point whenever the remake gets officially translated, and with Mahoutsukai no Yoru…

For any Type-Moon fan, you must watch this! It is an OVA comedy series with all of the characters from Fate Stay/Night and Tsukihime. Even if you only know about one of the two series, it is enjoyable. Each episode has the characters in different situations and shenanigans. These include a race, shopping trip, working at a cafe, etc. The full series subbed can be found easily on Youtube. It is nice to see everyone from such dark shows in fun, light-hearted situations. It may be my favorite Type-Moon anime series, and I have watched it through several times. 10/10 recommend!

Carnival Phantasm is put simply the definition of perfection
A lot of people think of anime as art, and what is art if not for enjoyment? How you enjoy it depends, but Carnival Phantasm is what makes anime art: not by discussing some heavy topics, or by revolutionizing the industry, but by evoking pure and simple joy in each and every episode
The whole thing revolves around taking everything you know about Type Moon's works and mash them together in comedic situations, taking into account each character's quirks and creating gags out of them. While it's fun in its own right, fans of Type Moon's works will be provided with overloading amounts of fanservice - no not the "scantily clad women" type, but references to many of Type Moon's works which will provide additional context and as such…

Finding something comedic can be hard for most people. Not even going to lie, there are most comedies unable to make me laugh nowadays. There are different types of comedy. Firstly you have the observational type, which portrays the daily lives of a commonplace. Secondly, you have the witty type that portrays the intelligent side of things. And finally, you have exaggerated comedies, which can be a hit or miss depending on the execution of its ideas.
This isn't the case for Carnival Phantasm.
Carnival Phantasm is well a parodic crossover of your favourite Type-Moon works, listing up to Kara no Kyoukai (unfortunately most of the characters did not appear :-:), Tsukihime, the Fate Series and of course, Melty Blood. Not to mention, this was adapted from an anthology comic called Take Moon…

Carnival Phantasm (2011)
Ren/Len is the most adorable character going that is a statement, not even the gods can defy.
I have to be honest this was a nice change of pace to see with such a violent show overall being made so goofy in such a spinoff. It is pretty fun from start to finish although does have some scenes that were a bit meh for me. If this highlights one big thing though it is the Fate universe is full of cute girls.
For 2011 the art stands the testament of time excellently and it is a really great show visually to see. The OP is great fun.
The OP is such a memorable song that I could listen to it over and over again.
The nodding cat is the best of the cat ones at the start. Lots of cute girls fill this show from the maids to the nun girl to Rin, Saber and Sakura but ul…

...Oh wait, I don't think I can actually manage to spoil this anime.
Ahem, Carnival Phantasm. What would you normally expect from the Nasuverse? Fighting, trauma and murders! This anime has none of that.
It consists of several short comedy sketches, with some vaguely tied to one another. There are several running gags in the series, and it is hilariously executed here for all fans of the Nasuverse to experience. The characters somehow manages to stay somewhat true to themselves (with some exceptions, but those are obviously intentional), and that's to be commended.
The art is cute, and the opening is upbeat. Voice acting is great, and even as someone who hasn't yet read Tsukihime, I enjoyed this anime immensely for what it is.
Definitely watch it if you are a…

I have know idea what just happened, i just know it was some damn good fun.
That's the best way to describe this, a completely incomprehensible comedy anime with many of the best type-moon characters, if you plan on watching this prepare yourself, it won't make any sense but it will be magnificently entertaining, it might not be anything like the fate series and all it's spinoffs, but it has a purpose, and it gets it right on the damn spot, the comedy was impecable, every joke landed, and the animation was perfect for the genre.
All in all, i'd seriously recommend it, its short enough to be watched in a day and it's some good lighthearted fun, oh, and, quick warning: watch this alone, the opening will give anyone the need to go for a little dance.

In every sphere of public media, be it videogames or anime industry creator's/author's attitude plays a significant role in making their product unique and outstanding.
That's what makes "Carnival" so great: it's very ironical. "TYPE MOON" managed to recognize and make laugh out of various minor flows in their projects("Tsukihime" and "Fate/SN" respectively). It's captivating to see, how two franchizes that sometimes raise important quiestions,(such as the meaning of justice or the process of falling into madness) got combined in such a silly way, making it even more fun.
"Carnival Phantasm" is definetely a fan service product. However, instead of creating a typical OVA or ONA, in which characters go to hot springs or a beach(though there is such an episode in these series), people in "T…

This is the type fan service we deadly need. With a universe as big as Typemoon, cross over is always meant to happen. But crafting such an excellent, genuinely funny and creative parody on so many levels, Carnival Phantasm is truly a work of genius.
While Tsukihime is not exactly a successful anime, its game is very well-known and highly considered as one of the best visual novel til date and clearly there's no franchise as big as how the Fate! expanded with so many spin-off and side story and games,... Clearly, Typemoon's fan, especially Fate! fans will very happy with this spin-off! Put your favorite characters of both series in different settings, get them to interact with each other. Very simple yet effective.
Forget the death battles, forget all the dramas, dive yourself into the…

I must admit a nifty secret; I only watched the fate-part of this short OVA, as I don't know the other anime. And it was super funny and enjoyable, wohoo! So, job accomplished I guess. :D
There's no real story, it's just a bunch of loose sketches with the fate characters interacting. It's no slice of life either like Shirou's cooking show - just crazy scenarios and a bunch of jokes.
There's nothing special about the art and that's fine. The soundtrack is catchy and that's neat. The characters are great, and I was gibbering throughout like a fangirl does, so good job!
It does what's on the cover, no more no less, and that's sweet. :)

Carnival Phantasm was a high quality Type-Moon shitpost.
Story: Think of a loosely based off spinoff of the Fate series, referencing main series plot points whenever they felt like they should. Yeah, that's Carnival Phantasm. This show's story was a bunch of random segments mashed together for comedic effect, but honestly, that worked out to make 12 minutes of pure comedy. I enjoyed the subtle hints to the plot, while throwing in some crossover moments.
Art: Looking back now, you see that the producing company was a freshman company at the time they made this, but then they went on to make one of my favourite shows, Assassination Classroom. The art feels like how it should look for this kind of show, with the regular embodiment of the characters present, but also not too detailed as to c…

I maybe too late to watch this anime because i really into anime this year, but this is my reaction when i got reccomendation to this anime.
THIS IS GONNA BE TRASH because this anime is mixed 2 legendary Type-moon anime, because in start, i somehow hate anime collaboration because its gonna be focusing on one anime that very popular and the smaller name anime will be forgotten.
BUT this series is overall good, the comedy is hilarious and smart, there's no main story, because this anime mixed both world of two different anime, the music somehow irritating me because its sounds like magical-girl-witch-anime kinda thing.

Carnival Phantasm is one of those things that is really only made for those who are at least somewhat familiar with the material beforehand.
Thus, this review and rating are only written with those people in mind:
This show has a lot of characterization from some famous Type-Moon series. Generally I was laughing and sometimes crying at the level of comedy and "inside jokes" this series brought. While it rewards those who have watched the later released "Fate/Zero" and "Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works," it's much more focused on comedy based upon the VN. It also made me add the additional anime it's referencing to my watch list. This is just a good and decent series for already existing fans, and did a great job in expressing tropes, jokes, and nuances expressed in the main series…

So, you take a violent juggernaut franchise that started out as a visual novel with H-rated content aka Fate/Stay, and less popular franchises of the same universe (with Tsukihime being the one of the bunch with the most screentime), and turn their violent asses into a comedy that celebrates every corner of the Type-Moon universe...
FUCKING BRILLIANT!!!
*I don't know how the hell one can spoil a gag-based comedy series like this, but this series found a way to make people do that. Spoilers for Carnival Phantasm*
(Given how this is a comedy that involves nothing but gags and no real overarching plot and the characters are merely exaggerated versions of their game counterparts, those sections won't be present here. Just have fun with this shit; we both know that's what this anime wants us…

When most people think of Type-Moon they usually think about the Fate series which is understanding due to how many spinoffs the series has.
However because of this most people forget that they have other franchises such as Tsukihime and Melty Blood, well this show quickly reminds people of that.
Carnival Phantasm is a collaboration attempt between these three series and judging by the serious tone that both Fate and Tsukihime project you would expect a fairly dark and serious show with thought provoking questions.
Well this show could not be any farther from that if it tried, this show is more or less a comedy show based around the premise that the holy grail war is won not by combat but through a japanese game show.
Well thats the basic premise, it also includes many short stories and s…

When I watched the first episode of Carnival Phantasm, I had no idea that they were going to turn it into an entire season's worth of parody. Carnival Phantasm is pretty much exactly as the description says, a parody of Type Moon's works. If you haven't watched both Tsukihime and FSN then you're not going to get most of the jokes as it's all one giant fun party. For those who have watched the aforementioned series, this is a light, comedic mixer where you have intriguing cross-series situations; Shirou and Shiki planning together on how to carry out harems, for example. Just don't expect a contiguous developing plot.
Animation:
Animation is pretty good. There isn't a need for the dramatic lighting featured in both of the base series so expect a brighter, more cheerful overall tone. All th…

Anime Review No.12
Carnival Phantasm is the comedic parody of previous Type-Moon works that circle in 1 universe with the same character with far more different personality as the original and with different kind of art style. If you’re looking for serious Type-Moon works you are better off not choosing this anime but if you’re a type-moon fan looking for some cute fan service of your favorite characters you should not miss out this anime.
This Overview doesn’t have any spoilers but just teaser on what you can expect to this anime once you started watching it.
Plot (5/10) Average
The anime is compose of random stories from different Type-Moon works that is made just for entertainment and nothing more so don’t inspect too much for a serious plot and mature atmosphere like we always ge…
