Introduction

During the summer of her freshman year of high school, Yuzu Aihara's mother remarried, forcing her to transfer to a new school. To a fashionable socialite like Yuzu, this inconvenient event is just another opportunity to make new friends, fall in love, and finally experience a first kiss. Unfortunately, Yuzu's dreams and style do not conform with her new ultrastrict, all-girls school, filled with obedient shut-ins and overachieving grade-skippers. Her gaudy appearance manages to grab the attention of Mei Aihara, the beautiful and imposing student council president, who immediately proceeds to sensually caress Yuzu's body in an effort to confiscate her cellphone. Thoroughly exhausted from her first day, Yuzu arrives home and discovers a shocking truth—Mei is actually her new step-sister! Though Yuzu initially tries to be friendly with her, Mei's cold shoulder routine forces Yuzu to begin teasing her. But before Yuzu can finish her sentence, Mei forces her to the ground and kisses her, with Yuzu desperately trying to break free. Once done, Mei storms out of the room, leaving Yuzu to ponder the true nature of her first kiss, and the secrets behind the tortured expression in the eyes of her new sister. Citrus is a strange anime. It tells the story of romance between stepsisters (a type of forbidden love, I guess.) Personally, I believe it is a bad anime with good ideas for a Yuri animes: a strict school, the Gal/Kaicho dynamic, enemies-to-lovers, and discovering one's identity. First of all, the protagonist is the only fleshed-out character; the rest of the cast are basically empty archetypes who just act however the script needs them to. The situations don't make sense, and the plot becomes quite repetitive. To be honest, the animation is very average(bordering on bad). While the art style is somewhat interesting (one character has a tetto's hairstyle), the faces look incredibly weird in certain frames. In the end, the only reason to keep watching was pure morbid curiosity. The first…

(EN-PT) It's an anime with great pacing, likable characters, and a story that rarely slows down. The relationship between the two leads is intense, full of emotional conflict, and constantly moving forward, making it easy to stay invested. For me, the strongest aspect of the series is how it explores each girl's inner struggles, their journey of self-discovery, and the fear of accepting who they truly are. A lot of GL stories try to tackle these themes, but very few handle them as well as Citrus. That said, my biggest criticism is aimed at the anime adaptation (minor spoilers). It relies far too much on Mei's forced kisses and unwanted advances, and even worse, it ends up romanticizing situations that are supposed to make the audience uncomfortable. I understand that adaptations often ma…

If I had to summarize Citrus in a single sentence, it would be: bitches be trifling. Now that I've established the central thesis, allow me to elaborate. Citrus presents itself as a dramatic romance built around complicated emotions, family dynamics, and personal growth. In practice, however, much of its runtime is fueled by misunderstandings, poor communication, emotional whiplash, and decisions that leave you staring at the screen wondering why anyone involved chose the most chaotic option available. The characters consistently create problems that could have been resolved through a single honest conversation. Instead, every episode escalates the tension through impulsive actions, mixed signals, jealous outbursts, and dramatic misunderstandings. It becomes less of a romance and more o…

Absolute masterpiece, and my favorite yuri of all time. I don't think people fully understand what these 12 episodes were actually about. It's better to think of Citrus as two separate parts. The first part is the anime's 12 episodes, which adapt the first 16 chapters, while the remaining 24 chapters make up Part 2. Part 1 is focused on one central idea, and it's actually quite simple: Mei wants someone who can support and understand her, while Yuzu wants to become a true family to Mei. Everything that happens revolves around those two desires and how they gradually bring the girls closer together. Once that emotional foundation is established, the story shifts its focus. Part 2 is less about whether they belong together and more about how they grow together, overcome new challenges, an…

I could only ever recommend this show to the deaf. The only redeeming factor for this show is the 15 second yuri scenes. Pretty sure that's all the author was thinking about too. I figured I'd give this show a shot because it's common for shows with themes of rape/incest to be review bombed by western audiences. But, putting all that aside, the show itself just sucks. The main character is as 1 dimensional as it gets, and 90% of the runtime is just arbitrary flip flopping between "i love you" and "dont talk to me anymore". On top of that, while this is all happening, the love interest is kissing(/fucking? that one scene wasn't too clear) anything that moves. The protagonist doesn't seem to care at all, and continues unconditionally loving the girl who had a combined 5 minutes of dialogue t…

Citrus: A Forbidden Love? I watched this anime, so to speak, by chance—on a friend’s insistence (as a joke). Honestly, it’s not as bad as we used to think years ago. It’s a 12-episode yuri that revolves around a forbidden romance between two stepsisters. Back then, what made us laugh was the theme itself rather than its actual quality. The animation and character design are fine, although the story feels somewhat rushed and at times forced. Even so, it manages to keep your interest if you enjoy intense, teenage-focused romances. At the time, my friend recommended it as a joke, but it became a shared memory, and rewatching it years later, it didn’t feel as strange as it did back then. In conclusion, it’s not a bad anime, but not a great one either—it sits right in the middle. It’s worth wat…

If you can ignore the weird pseudo incest stuff, it's great. If you can't, then the show is terrible. it really depends wholly on if you are able to dispel certain ideals for a short time. The art is great, the story is nice and well-paced, and the characters feel interesting and decently in-depth. The only real downside is that at times it falls into generic romance drama and conflict. However, that's mostly a given with this genre, so I let it slide. Again, though, for all its strengths, it fails if you take the "stepsister" idea to heart. You have to be able to move that into the back of your mind, or else the show suffers a ton.

I'm going to write this review coming from the manga, a manga which I liked in spite of its flaws, in spite of its disturbing aspects. In a nutshell, the manga tells the tumultuous relationship between two very different high school girls: - Yuzu is a deeply kind girl, capable of selfless acts but still immature and somewhat fragile emotionally. She also has some rebellious streak and is depicted as a gyaru at school. - Mei is a very disturbed girl, who was taught to bury her own sense of self and to always behave according to her environment's expectations. She's shown to be talented, rigid and uncaring, but she's also self-loathing and cut from her own emotions. Although some of those points aren't obvious at the beginning of the story, they explain most of the toxic aspects of their r…

This story would've worked exellently as a dark psychological drama, as a romance though, it is an abomination, and the relationship between the two leads will tell you exactly why Let's start with Mei Mei is an abuser, plain and simple, we can analyze why she becomes the way she is, and we will in a moment, but nothing excuses her appaling treatment of Yuzu Now why is Mei the way she is? The most likely catalyst is her being put in an abusive situation with her arranged engagement, on top of the already toxic family enviroment. Mei's abusive behaviour is driven by anger, anger towards her fiancé who's s******* abusing her, anger towards her grandpa for putting her in that situation by arranging the engagement, anger towards her dad whom she feels abandoned by, all of which she projects…

I, someone who has seen the weirdest shit, felt uncomfortable watching this on my own, I was alone at home yet I couldn't look at the screen. I wanted to die. This is the first time this happened. The story is unique enough for non-hentai the art style is kinda nice, but the animation is bland the characters were just weird, atleast not normal Nope not realistic at all I wish I never have to watch something like this again This wasn't made to make a happy yuri, this was a dudes yuri fetish in an anime I really wish there are no more anime like this.

This is absolute beutiful in therms of animations, characters, style, and that's why i liked it . About the story, this anime is about 2 girls who fall in love, and that's ok!! but the fact that they are sisters but went for it, is crazy, and as i watched it there was scenes that made me realize that this anime was made by mens and FOR mens, as some scenes in the middle of the story didn't had to be there and it was just so people stick more(bc the scenes are mostly sexualized). Besides that, this anime is good, great animation, the develope of the characters is good, the places are beutiful.

In the vast array of anime, each has its own nuances and particularities. “Citrus” stands out for its exploration of lesbian relationships, although I personally found it to fall a bit short of my expectations. With a rating of 5/10, it's obvious that this anime didn't quite manage to capture my interest in the same way that other works have. At the heart of “Citrus,” the story of Yuzu Aihara and Mei Aihara takes place in a complex school setting where their relationship blossoms into something deeper and romantic. The anime touches on important themes such as self-acceptance, but unfortunately its narrative pace seemed too slow for me. The plot developments dragged on, making the experience a bit monotonous at times. Although "Citrus" has its merits, particularly in its depiction of les…

This anime will always be my guilty pleasure. The relationship between Mei and Yuzu is so good(in a toxic way) and I forever defend the anime adaptation. The pacing is solid with consistent fan service and lovers quarrels to keep viewers engaged. The character cast is fine, albeit underdeveloped (besides Yuzu and Mei). Yuzu is extremely well developed and her mission to understand her and Mei's feelings is very genuine an beautiful. Mei is a bit more linear, being the 2nd protagonist, but this is not to say she does not make significant changes over the course of the show. The first "antagonist" is meh but not great and the 2nd one is downright filler and is only their to force a divide in the romance. The show is strongest when its focusing on the romance and not external situations. Many…

Peak fiction, complete masterpiece, best thing I have seen in years. After getting through over 1000 episodes of mid piece filler I finally watched a real anime and im never going back. 12 episodes of pure action and drama. Gave me chills every minute. Characters are insanely well written and so is the story. I hope everyone gets to know the feeling of finally getting home to watch Citrus after 8 hours of physical work at car part factory. It made everything so worth it. k??? r????? omnia palmia pappa vessassa kuremiko mcdonalds 1337 s1lent dead canary san quentin the chair

NOTICE: this review isn't really in-depth on the anime, it more so determines whether or not you will like/should watch this series. The first page review by Altoroark or whatever his name is gives a really insightful analysis of the show so I would recommend you to read that review after this if you believe you might watch, as it tells the true nature of the show rather than examining it at surface level like most of the idiot reviewers like the most recent one prior to mine. This show is the definition of hit-or-miss. I'm not into yuri but I was getting a lot of recs for this show so i'll try and break it down without too much analysis because I am 100% sure that this show is highly, highly subjective. Sexual Assault. Grooming. You get all of it in the first 3 episodes. If that offends…

I haven't been this infuriated with an anime in a long while. Would it kill the authors to write a normal healthy romance between women instead of writing this 'I fell in love with a person only to find out that they're my step sibling' trope??? This is basically Domestic Girlfriend, but worse. At least no one actually takes Domestic Girlfriend seriously, not even the anime itself. Sometimes it was so ridiculous and WRONG that it was just funny. Citrus on the other hand is almost unbearable to watch because it takes itself too seriously even though the premise is fking ridiculous and just BAD. If you wanted to make a steamy step sisters hent@i you should have just done that. Why pose as something you're not? Why pretend to be this mature, emotional and vanilla love drama?? It doesn't help…

i'm not a big fan of yuri but since this is only ecchi and i was told there is good deal of jealousy involved i thought lets try something new for once so i checked this shit out if i say the plot is a Contrived mess mixed with asspulls i have not exaggerated the dialogues are horrible and emptier than the writer's skull there are random scenes that don't contribute to the story at all for example the drama about the fucking grandpa didn't matter it was just a waste of time the characters are so god damn empty, what is mei like? silent girl, that's it, introducing her father didn't add any layer or depth to her character whatsoever, what is yuzu like? she is gay and that's that, and don't let me start on other characters beside yuzu and mei, her mom, her friends,... they had ZERO depth,…

This was a really touching story. It dealt with sexually assault very sensitively and was well understood within the context of the characters. In no way does the show glorify, normalise, or excuse it. I cried a lot during this, I found it an incredibly beautiful story and the plot was well-written. It was not, contrary to popular belief, lesbian smut or fan service. This was a very realistic portrayal of adolescent confusion, love, angst, and yes sexual assault. It is unfortunately realistic that Mei felt sexual advances were her way to maintain control given her history, especially with the sexual abuse she had from her fiancée and the events surrounding her father and having a very strict upbringing. Initially I was cautious and uncomfortable about the sexual assaults in the first two e…

Citrus is probably a yuri show that'll be a hit or miss with some people. There's a part where this anime shines through it but at some point it doesn't. I've seen enough romance anime and I'd say this is decent enough even though the main concept is yuri Story - 9/10 It's a simple story about Yuzu, a high school girl, who recently moving out from her old hometown to a new town. There she enrolled to a all girl high school. While there, she met with the student Council president, Mei. The plot gets interesting after Yuzu and Mei found out that they are sisters. The relationship between them are heating up as a couple not as a pair of sisters. Music and SFX - 10/10 This anime really shine through it's well placed music and sound effect. There is a lot of details put in through this anim…

Well, this was terrible. Absolutely terrible. The anime is a romance anime apparently but my word the relationship building is embarrassingly poor, these characters have no actual reason to like each other and the attraction was started by what can only be called sexual assault...just awful, a heartless relationship with zero proper development except some weak attempts at emotional scenes which all fall flat because of the hollow nature of the relationship. The characters are terrible, the side characters especially are so poorly written and poorly related to the plot, they have basically no purpose. The main characters are just annoyingly stupid and poor at communication in a very repetitive way, it is so dull. The animation is also not very good with several poorly done scenes and u…
