After putting off watching Clannad for months, even as a romance anime fan. I was initially disappointed by all the hype. It wasn’t until After Story, especially starting with episode 10, that I was completely hooked. I binge-watched from episode 10 to the end in one night and went to school shortly afterward; that was both one of the best and worst nights of my life, so I couldn’t stop thinking about the series all day long. The shift from Clannad to the middle of After Story is just so brilliant—it instantly changes the entire vibe of the series. It goes from a wholesome romance to a serious and sad story. That’s just how life is; things can suddenly go to shit, and that was executed brilliantly, and thats why Dango Dango

This show has some of the highest emotional highs ever. But the first half of the show, while still being DECENT, could be cut down at least 5 episodes, and it would still retain every part of what makes it special. Although at least the first half wasn't nearly as much of a drag as the original Clannad was. The story follows Tomoya, our main character. Who has grown a new love for the town that he once resented because of the connections he's made in the original series. He's entering adulthood and is faced with the challenges of independence, but consistently receives emotional support by his family, friends, coworkers, and of course; Nagisa. Clannad After Story really picks up in the latter half of the anime. The tone shifts in a sad, realistic, but also beautiful manner into a story…

I thought at first this anime gonna be a comfort anime o boy was I wrong. I don't think there is or will ever be a greater anime that surpasses clanned after story as a romance anime. The story is soo unpredictable and hell it was insane wow good it is made me cry the whole time. Anyways the other half will be ai btw sience I don't wanna fill the whole the required,This review needs more information thing just ignore the other part and another thing this anime is better than s3x. Ai: The characters are what really make it work. They aren't flawless — they make selfish choices, they struggle, they fail each other sometimes — and that's exactly why their growth feels earned instead of forced. Their reactions to grief, responsibility, and loss feel painfully realistic rather than exaggerat…

“Nothing can stay unchanged. Fun things… Happy things… They can’t possibly remain the same. Even so, can you continue loving this place?” Clannad is quite possibly my favorite thing in the whole World. I'll be honest from the very beginning: I am completely incapable of being objective about Clannad. This is not a balanced review. It is not an attempt to carefully weigh strengths against weaknesses or argue why it is the greatest anime ever made. There are stories that may be better written, more ambitious, more complex, or more technically impressive. None of that matters to me. Because Clannad means something far more personal than that. Out of every game, book, film, anime, or visual novel I have ever experienced, Clannad is the one that reached me the deepest. It is the story that…

This is not the masterpiece that people claim it to be. However, it's still alright. The art is definitely a little dated and the story has some flaws. The emotional beats are there, but I wouldn't say that it is significantly better then any other melancholic anime out there. The characters are ok but make sure you watch Clannad first ( some people say you don't need to watch it please do not listen to them they are wrong). You might enjoy this series more if you are a parent I am not a parent, closer to one then you would think though!!!

Clannad After Story is praised by everyone and their mother and seem to have a standing as the most emotional anime ever made. But is it truly so? First of all, first 10 eps are basically the same as the first season and I have no idea why would they put them into the After Story because technically speaking - it was not after yet. It's some school stories continuing and side characters stories still getting wrapped up. So lets agree that actual After Story starts from ep 10. Second of all, some moments are morally questionable and very much depend on the viewer morals. The forgiving part... will be very questionable for decent chunk of people considering the events of the 1st season. MC was not only morally but physically hurt with what seems a long term consequences but After Story m…

"I hate this life. It’s too filled with memories I’d rather forget. I go to school every day, hang out with my friends, and then go home. There’s no place I’d rather not go ever again. I wonder if anything will ever change? Will that day ever come?" The day has come. The moment I decided to experience this work, my life was positively transformed. It shattered my ego and forced me to confront the raw reality of my own choices. This wasn't just another school-life story; it was a journey of redemption that taught me the true weight of forgiveness and self-growth. No more meaningless days - just a profound appreciation for the light that follows the storm. It made me realize that even in a world filled with 'impending dread,' we can still find a path toward sincerity. This is peak fiction.…

After Story is known as one of the “saddest anime ever,” but personally, I found that reputation highly exaggerated. The first half feels slow and similar to season 1, and the anime only starts building some emotional weight around episode 10. There were only two moments that genuinely made me feel sad: The trip scene with Tomoya and his daughter Tomoya reconciling with his father in front of his daughter Those scenes were well done, but not enough to justify the massive hype. The sudden deaths and heavy supernatural turns felt forced and confusing, especially since the rules of the supernatural are never clearly explained. Episode 23 felt like an out-of-context “what if” scenario rather than a satisfying conclusion. Good animation, okay humor, a few emotional moments but overall, it…

I cried bro... literally cried to this anime... At first you will still confused about that illusionary girl, but in the end of the story, it's all clear as my tears flowing down like waterfall Their story, their sacrifices, harsh truth of life, truly beautiful and painful to watch. But in the end, it gives us hopes. Truly masterpiece The story is very slow paced though, and the artstyle is unique from the 2000s, well that's because this anime released from that era. but the story? it's gonna be valid until the end of the time The characters are well-written, and it's one of the most realistic stories too

For me: Clannad is one of the most heartbreaking, emotionally powerful anime I've ever watched. And I say that even though I hated it when I finished watching it. Made by KyoAni, this anime spends literally 30 episodes SEEMING like it does nothing, but its actually setting up the gut-wrenching twist at the end. Clannad's journey for me has been a wild one - I initially gave it around ~8.2 and while most animes tend to drop in hindsight, Clannad has only increased for me as I experienced more life experiences. Visuals/Animations: 9/10 Considering its a relatively old anime, its character design is relatively old fashioned. That being said, for a 2008 anime it is still quite advanced for its time. KyoAni's polish on visuals is incredible - the subtle human expressions that are KyoAni's trad…

Clannad may seem like a schizophrenic anime in the beginning, but when you get to After Story, it all changes. The storytelling is perfect, the build is strong, and it hits hard (ep 16 :P). Slice-of-life romances are hard to pull off, but Clannad does it in the best way possible. The music is great, and the atmosphere is just amazing. The animation and art style are on a whole other level if you ask me, considering Clannad came out in 2007–2008. Every character feels unique, though sometimes their flaws feel a little forced. In the beginning, I thought it was going to be a harem because there are five girls, but it’s not even close. Clannad’s humor is also top-notch, the best I’ve seen so far (almost 3k anime episodes watched). My favorite moment is when the Furukawa family runs out of t…

I have finally sat through the entire Clannad anime series, and despite low expectations, I appreciated the entire series, although I largely preferred Clannad: After Story. Here's what I loved about the series: STORY (10/10) - The first nine episodes of Clannad: After Story had the same formula of the first season, different story arcs focusing on different characters although they were better than the previous season. Two examples of the better story arcs were the Sunohara Siblings arc, focusing on Youhei Sunohara and Mei Sunohara, and the Misae arc, focusing on Misae Sagara herself. Those two story arcs had already given the season emotional depth early on but these first eight episodes were also filled with fun, light-hearted, and hilarious scenes. - Starting from episode ten, the na…

If you found the first season a bit dull, that’s understandable, it mainly serves to build the world and the characters, so that season two can truly hit you on an emotional level. While the first part has a light, school-life tone, the second transforms into something far deeper: a journey of growth and loss, where love, responsibility, and forgiveness intertwine. What I really appreciated is that it skips the typical college setting, which often feels forced and repetitive. Instead, it follows a once-lazy student who must face the burdens of adulthood, taking on hard work, caring for loved ones, enduring loss, and learning to forgive both others and himself. The only time I actually cried after watching countless anime was the scene where little Ushio stood in the flower field. Her wor…

Clannad + After Story – Review (10/10) I hadn’t cried from a show in a long time… but Clannad: After Story hit me hard. Even though I already knew what was coming, it still got to me. That says a lot. The first season (Clannad) is slower and doesn’t hit as emotionally but that’s because it’s all build-up. It introduces the characters, the friendships, and the quiet moments of life. On its own, it might just feel like a typical slice-of-life romance, but it’s setting the emotional groundwork. Once you get into After Story, though, everything shifts. The tone gets heavier, more mature, and far more real. It tackles adulthood, love, loss, and finding hope again. It doesn’t just make you sad ,,it makes you feel life in all its beauty and pain. At one point, I noticed I was crying… but only…

I came into the show not expecting much, your standard high school drama, etc., but this really was a MASTERPIECE. If I could give it a score beyond a 10, I would. It emotionally destroyed me, filled me with so much hope and showed what the importance of family is and how fragile life can be. If you want a show which will change your perspective of how you view life, then I will always recommend this show to literally anyone. Clannad Afterstory for its emotions and incredible character development, and Clannad itself, for its comedy, which still holds up to this day, and gradual character progression, is an incredible series which you definitely won't want to miss out on!

Watching an anime that offers you: Romance, Drama, Suspense, Comedy (mostly in the first season, of course) and offers you something else in the midst of it all in a special way that many try but fail to achieve: Reality isn't just joy, it's also cruel. Clannad is something that made me see things in ME, in myself that the protagonist possesses and often makes you reflect on, moments like "Man, I understand the protagonist!" in your thoughts about life in general, moments completely built up to that point and not forced, something that simply makes you see the protagonist's girlfriend as a heroine. Nagisa Furukawa is the representation of the purest kindness and purity, even sometimes dumb, but in a funny way. I watched Clannad expecting something absurd. What I saw in the first season p…

P.S. I wrote this review right after finishing the show and I was really drunk at that point. But although most of it doesn't really make much sense, I won't change it, because this is how I genuinely felt - messy, all over the place, but hopeful. Hopeful for a new tomorrow. I've been down in the dumps lately, life's been getting harder and harder, and this anime suddenly reminded me that life, despite the pain and suffering, is ultimately full of love, love that transcends the everyday struggles and doubts. I couldn't finish it when I was 14. No wonder. Now, when I will be turning 20 this year, I can't help but cry with each episode. The pain, the suffering and the love we have to endure just to get a glimpse of a better tomorrow is unbelievable. Maybe one day, the hope and the love the…

This show is still to this day my #1 anime of all time from romance/slice of life side. The story the soundtrack everything about this show was so good and melancholic that it really made me tear up in the end and i felt all kind of emotions that human can feel this story is just so frighteningly true and real It deals with growing up and the stages of life from high school to working life, from girlfriend to wife and having children Which, unfortunately, was the most heartbreaking part of this anime. In my opinion, this is one of the most perfect creations of its genre

It feels like I barely enjoy animes like I used to, there was always something special about animes back in the day not many shows made me feel the same way Clannad did and I feel like now I appreciate it a lot more now that I yearn for moments in animes like this, I don't have much to say that hasn't been said about Clannad, but I think if for some reason you're here reading this and haven't watched it that it's worth experiencing even if you have to go through the less good slowburn of season 1 Clannad, cuz years later after I watched this anime it's still stuck in my head and im not sure if it'll ever leave
