Fate/strange Fake

Fate/strange Fake

Introduction

A new Holy Grail War is emerging in Snowfield, Nevada, where mages from around the world summon Servants, heroic spirits drawn from myth and history, to fight on their behalf. However, this war seems to differ from previous ones. The organization behind it appears to have used data from the Fuyuki Grail War for their ritual, resulting in strange happenings. Unbeknownst to most participants, this budding conflict is actually a fake Grail War. There exists another set of seven true Servants who are summoned to fight in the genuine Holy Grail War. One of these Servants is a powerful Saber-class who saves the life of Ayaka Sajou, his apparent master, after being summoned. With hidden agendas and unpredictable forces at play, the line between the fake and true Grail War becomes unclear, turning Snowfield into a dangerous battlefield. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS! Have you ever watched a show that’s just... Cool? A show that blows you away? A show that is, to its very core, AWESOME? If not, it’s time for you to delve into the world of Fate. BEFORE WATCHING THIS SHOW, WATCH THE ‘WHISPERS OF DAWN’ MOVIE PREQUEL. TRUST ME. Spoilers ahead! Plot: I reserve this phrase for only the highest caliber of narrative, but I feel I must use it here. Fate/Strange Fake felt like a book. If you know where the source material is from, that’s not a surprise. This wasn’t an anime original. The show was based off a LIGHT NOVEL written by Ryogo Narita. He’s a famous Japanese author, with two major series under his belt: Baccano and Durara. Consequently, the narrative has WEIGHT. Characters speak using formal language, which lends them…

As a casual fan, and not necessarily someone who is deeply knowledgeable about shonen anime or the entire *Fate* franchise, I genuinely enjoyed *Fate/strange Fake*. Once again with this series, I think one of its biggest strengths is the animation. The fights are well executed, impressive, and perfectly represent what makes the *Fate* franchise so recognizable. When it comes to the story, however, it follows a structure that feels quite familiar compared to previous entries in the franchise. We still have extremely powerful characters fighting each other, major stakes, mysteries, suspense, and confrontations between different ideologies. Despite that familiar formula, the anime still manages to create interesting characters. Each one has strong personalities, personal goals, and unique…

I was really hoping Fate/strange Fake would revitalize whatever interest I had in Fate before Emiya crushed it in Unlimited Blade Works. It didn't. Strange/Fake ruins itself by immensely fucking up its premise. Like I get its the 17th Fate entry, but why does everything have to be so convoluted? Simply put, NOTHING MAKES SENSE. Number of things I have a full grasp of: ZERO. EVERY character and EVERY story element has AT LEAST 1 CAVEAT that makes it break away from the "rules". Air quotes there because the rules might as well not exist with how little heed the show gives them. Ok, the premise is no good, but how do the characters fare? Do they save the show? They are, uh, alright I guess? Our "MC" Ayaka adds nothing. Flat and Saber are interesting. Everyone else is just a big meh. OK b…

I didn't know this was just the first part going in, since there was no season 2 entry when I started, and I didn't look up anything about this show. So, if you're like me, I immediately recommend just waiting to watch it completely when the full series is out. Anyway, as for the review of season 1. It's got a lot of action, and it's pretty good. Like, there was very little down time. Just when I think they might be peaking early, they step it up. To be honest, they step it up so much, that is almost feels like you can predict it will be stepped up with every new character introduced. About the characters, there's so many. I think you can enjoy the show well enough without knowing all the characters from other fate series, but it probably increases the enjoyment. Even someone like me, wh…

Fate/strange Fake unfortunately is a mish mash of nonsense for 13 episodes. It tries too much in too little of a time allowance. The pacing suffers immensely from including too many characters, too many factions, and involving a miniscule amount of fighting for a 13-episode series. I was invested after Fate/strange Fake Whispers of Dawn, but nothing in these 13 episodes resembles Whispers of Dawn. The animation, style, and intensity are all much different from Whispers of Dawn. Perhaps I would be singing its praises if this anime was aired consecutively through 24-28 episodes. It would seem the light novel was not finished when they started creating season 1. Thus, we get a half-baked cour of Fate that disappoints. It's unfortunate. Animation 9/10 - Its good, but it is a downgrade from Fa…

It’s good. A bit convoluted, but definitely on the upper end of the Fate series. The whole idea of the fake and true holy grail war has its advantages: a seemingly endless list of mages and heroic spirits, all with different backgrounds and personalities. Unfortunately it also makes the whole thing a bit confusing: there are too many characters to keep track of, and too many plot points to develop. Outside of the basic motivations of the main cast, there’s only about 3 or 4 characters that we really learn anything about. The script is messy and underdeveloped, but at least the animation is stunning, with some of the best Fate fights yet. Sawano is doing great things with the soundtrack, and the characters are mostly interesting enough (I particularly love Richard and Enkidu). I’m not a mas…

The more I think about Strange fake, the more I keep coming back to one word, and that is "complete". It is basically the most complete and perfected formula I've ever seen from the franchise. I had a feeling Fate/strange Fake was going to become my favorite Fate long before I actually watched it. From what I knew about it, it seemed like the logical and natural evolution of everything I already loved about the franchise, and huge thanks to the author Ryohgo Narita for that. I didn't even wanna rush into it purely out of fomo and hype, so I watched some of the previous Fate entries that I hadn’t seen yet first. This felt like the kind of Fate entry that I needed to watch after seeing all the different sides of the franchise, and YOU should do that too. I'm not completely new to Strange F…

I'm a longtime on-off fan of the Fate franchise, and so of course, I'd always known of Strange Fake as the series' white whale, an entry that seemed doomed to never seeing adaptation but whose relatively-small fanbase was absolutely ravenous for it. But I also know what some people look for in this franchise, so I was unsurprised when I found this series only ok. Don't get me wrong, it's a beautiful adaptation, I love the art style and the animation is mostly great (other than some quite rough-looking CG), and Hiroyuki Sawano provides epic-scale music that fits well (though it's far from one of his most memorable scores), all of which makes for some pretty damn cool fight scenes. And of course, there's nuggets of gold throughout the entirety of this show, but I'm not sure how worth it it w…

Bro Fate/strange Fake is just unhinged fun. Like, A-1 took the Grail War, threw it in fake-ass Nevada, and said “what if we mess up the summoning and get True Caster + Gil + Enkidu fighting in a city full of idiots with guns?” And somehow it works. The animation goes crazy - True Caster’s spells look like someone spilled glowing paint everywhere, and when Gil shows up you just know someone’s gonna get flexed on. Yeah the pacing’s kinda all over the place ‘cause the LN isn’t even finished, so you’ll be sitting there like “wait who’s this guy again?” every 5 minutes. But if you just want Fate characters to be weird, terrifying, and way too powerful for their own good, this scratches that itch hard. Zero made me cry, UBW made me feel cool, Strange Fake just made me go “HOLY SHIT” every episod…

A perfectly entertaining marriage of structure and chaos. Fate/strange Fake toes the subtle line between unpredictable and disorganised, rapidly progressing numerous characters, concepts, and storylines in a way that feels both organic and zany. The expansive possibilities of the Type-Moon universe (in all its messy, eclectic glory) enforce flexible structure on Ryohgo Narita’s writing style while also opening many opportunities for fairly high-brow “fanservice” for Fateheads, myself included. The voicework is also solid (though the English dub was particularly well cast), and the production excellently captures the aforementioned chaos without sacrificing clarity, though it does end this cour at an oddly unsatisfying point.

-It feels like a Fate entry that isnt just another traditional Holy Grail War, but a distorted, more chaotic version where multiple Masters and Servants clash in a war that from the start feels irregular, dangerous, and full of factions, what i liked most is the scale and mystery, that sense of "something big is building," with powerful characters, altered rules, strange alliances, and constant tension between the heroic, the magical, and the political, visually it delivers well, the fights have impact, the direction knows how to sell the Servants presence, and it gives them a solid enough presentation to make the world feel elegant and dangerous, but i wouldnt place it higher because it also has a clear problem, it feels overloaded, too many names, factions, information, and moving pieces…

After years of waiting, the full series finally arrived. A-1 Pictures, as always, delivered breathtaking fights and top-tier animation. The sound design and overall production quality are incredible. But the story? Easily one of the most confusing entries in the Fate franchise. The series throws so much lore and information at the audience that it almost feels like you’re expected to have read every Fate novel, played the games, and studied the wiki beforehand just to fully understand what’s happening. Unless you’re already a longtime Fate fan, this series can feel bloated and confusing as hell. Definitely not beginner-friendly. One of the biggest issues is the massive cast. There are over 30 side characters, and every episode introduces 2–3 more out of nowhere, often with barely enough…

Fate/Strange Fake works better than I expected, including in the areas where it stumbles. The narrative relies heavily on compression, so episodes focused on plot progression end up condensing a large amount of information into a very short runtime. The middle portion of the season suffers the most from this pacing issue. Interestingly, the opening and closing arcs avoid that problem almost entirely, showing far more control over rhythm and structure than the dramatic core of the story itself. The ensemble cast is a risky choice that mostly pays off. Flat, Ayaka, and Sigma function as emotional anchors, allowing the viewer to maintain a sense of direction even as the narrative constantly shifts between factions and perspectives. The risk of fragmentation, common in stories with such a lar…

More like Fate: Strange Fakeouts lmao. This is quite a mess. The entire anime is about introducing a million characters and ATTEMPTING to make them fight against each other... except after 30 seconds someone will always interrupt their fight, and the characters would be like "eh, I don't feel like it anymore, maybe next time bye". Seriously. I'm not exaggerating, it happens every single episode. I do like the characters and what we see of the "fights", but man, this is SO frustrating... the animation mostly carried this season. For people that are looking to start this, I recommend you just wait until next season and watch both back to back. The only thing of relevance in this one happens in the literal last 2 minutes of the last episode, and the entire thing will just leave you constantl…

"Fate/Strange Fake" is a treat for Fate Series fans all around the world, and waiting for this was absolutely worth it! 🔥 After going through multiple delays, A-1 Pictures finally presented us with one of the best Fate series from this franchise. "Fate/Strange Fake" totally felt like a love letter for long-term fans of this awesome franchise, combined with a spectacular story, jaw-dropping action sequences, interesting characters, stellar animation, great voice acting, and mind-blowing sound design. This show was a complete package in itself that kept me glued to it from the beginning till the end! A-1 Pictures literally delivered their best work while making this show, and their efforts are reflected in every single visual of each and every episode. As much as I loved the smooth and cl…

Fate/Strange Fake is undoubtedly a true love letter to Type Moon that integrates countless references and in-universe concepts that would delight any Type Moon fan had it been executed well or edited in the production process by anyone sensible. F/SF discards the most BASIC of fundamentals of story telling for useless "aura farming" eating up airtime to achieve nothing substantial. Neither studio nor author needed to go out of their way to hype up characters in half-hearted stake-less confrontations to convince the audience that these characters are cool, powerful, likeable, or what have you. Fate has always been able to achieve this without this nonsense. If anything, these confrontations achieved the opposite of what they intended to. An incoherent mess throughout all 13 episodes. Co…

Episode six is a standout but the rest of it is a testament to why these Fate spinoffs don't work. They have no point, they're just kind of loose, and have no thing that they set out to do. The original Fate/stay night is different in this respect and is mocked as being just a dating sim but that takes for granted just how seamlessly the integration was done. It also gave the original a purpose. It has not struck me up until now just how boring of a character Gilgamesh is when you take him out of his natural environment. All this guy does is open his gates and never use Ea. He throws about six million swords at the guy who wears a carpet over his head even after being told that they're no good. 'Oh but he's arrogant' yeah, he's boring. There's no other mode that he's in. He's fine as a v…

Aura farming, the show. I know nothing of the wider work of "Fate" and so my judgement of this anime is purely based on what these 13 episodes provided. There is quite a lot of good world-building and character setup interwoven in the attention-grabbing action. The major problem is that most (if not all) of it has no payoff. Rather, the payoff is the aura exuding from the action set pieces, which is very flimsy. The over-reliance on cool vibes does make for a superficially entertaining show, but the absence of arcs, depth, or payoffs diminishes that entertainment. Which leads me to grant a "fine" rating to the overall show. It's strange how characters are competently set up yet are incompetently handled, which might be where the "strange" part of the show's title comes form. One MC, Ayak…

Well this series has been my favourite for a lifetime and seeing a normal grail war after so much time really made me feel nostalgic of the old times ...As in the near past we had the grand order series which was great ....but this after so much time feels like a bliss...I loved how they used the characters from all the the fates ,it created such great story...just...great.. . i loved every bit of this anime ok maybe not everybit but you understand right..its just a great fate/....it refrences many of the past fates you may even expect a appearance from "kaleid liner prisma".....its interconnected to many characters from the past ...\ . Seeing my favourite Mr. Velvet made me think how great this journey has been as seeing his reactions and understanding all from where it is coming and know…

genuinely didn't understand a single fucking thing about this anime. the animation was beautiful though. idk if this is a ''you need to have read the manga'' type of situation, but i was completely lost. from what little that i got, i do think the story or idea is cool yk, summoning some legends etc. but my god was it all complicated or just badly explained i felt like i was just sitting still and getting a tsunami of confusing information thrown at me. even though i didn't understand anything that was going on, the fights were really well done, it looked great
