Very good, very good. As usual, for now, I don’t really have much negative to say.
I’m not a huge addict of the franchise, or of series in general, but every time I start one, well, there you go. And I don’t even know anymore, I don’t watch them in the right order at all, I just do whatever.
But every time I start a new season, I really enjoy it, whether it’s because of the animation, the story, or the characters.
And I really like seeing everyone again, and I really like this whole story surrounding the Grail, the Holy Grail.
So yeah, it’s always a pleasure, and I enjoy it just as much every time, especially for the animation and the fights, obviously.
So, another good rating.

I Don’t Think Kinoko Nasu Makes the Decisive Contribution to Type‑Moon Anime Adaptations
I’m not a long‑time Type‑Moon fan. I’m only an anime‑only viewer. So far I’ve watched the three routes of *Fate/stay night*, *Fate/Zero*, the Fate franchise slice‑of‑life spin‑offs, the *Kara no Kyoukai* movie series, and I’ve enjoyed most Type‑Moon anime works. I like the Ufotable adaptations, the 2006 *Fate/stay night* is fine too, as well as *Emiya‑san Chi no Kyou no Gohan*. My personal favorites are *Fate/Zero*, the *Fate/stay night [Unlimited Blade Works]* movie, and *Kara no Kyoukai*.
Here’s a thought that has been bugging me: does anyone feel the same way? My favorite writing in *Fate/Zero* was done by Gen Urobuchi. The character designs I love for Artoria and Rin Tohsaka are drawn by Takashi Ta…

Fate/Zero is the kind of anime that feels mystical from the very beginning.
Looking back on it now, this series was my first introduction to the Fate franchise, and that first viewing still stands out as something special. There is a certain atmosphere to Fate/Zero that immediately pulls you in: ancient legends, modern mages, brutal ideals, impossible wishes, and a Holy Grail War where almost every character feels like they are hiding something beneath the surface.
Season 1 does a phenomenal job introducing the Masters and Servants. From Saber to the iconic Archer, nearly every major player gets time to stand in the spotlight during the early stages of the war. The show takes its time establishing who these characters are, what they want, and why they are willing to risk everything for t…

In Fate, we follow a very slow-paced series of stories around the contestants getting into a deadly magic challenge for access to a mysterious grail capable of impossible feats.
I enjoyed how, rather than focusing on one contestant, the story moves around showing different perspectives, it really takes its time going into motivations, personalities, tactics, giving information dumps, etc... This is a double-edged sword though, this season really takes a lot of time setting up for the events of the next one and oftentimes it feels like nothing interesting is going on, I felt the story engaging enough to keep going. Still, the number of moments where people are just chatting, or thinking, was too many in my opinion, most of the time spent on a fight is them talking or analyzing what's goin…

Disclaimer: I first watched this many years ago, and rewatched it much later, but now I'm half-drunk as I write this and randomly reminisce about my younger days as I re-watch select scenes from the series, half-cursing that tomorrow is a workday, so feel free to consider most of this review the rumblings of a growing drunk dude.
It really doesn't matter what you think of the Fate series (I mostly don't even understand the point of it, and I might have rated 8 or 9 instead of 10 in my personal Excel file), but it is still a masterpiece. This, together with Unlimited Budget Works, are some of the must-watch series any anime-lover should watch. The amazing technicals (animation, sound, VA, ...) are one thing (all of them are great btw, even by 2026 standards!), but the most important thing…

7 Masters. 7 Servants. All competing for a device which can fulfill any wish. But what is it?
This anime aims to answer this question. Is it one's duty to help others, or should you only care about yourself? Is happiness the process, or the goal? Or does it perhaps not exist at all? Does the end justify the means, or is is being right more important than achieveing the goal? These, and many simmilar questions, are all asked here. We follow about 14 people, each one of them having different answers. And the best part is - there is no set answer. The viewer must make up their own mind.
This series is not like Fate/Stay Night. There, we follow a single protagonist who overcomes adversaries to advance his dream - so that one is about process. Fate/Zero is about reasons. It is not just some m…

as For starters, This show is gold. thus i recommend this show if anyone interest in Fate Franchise as a starter.
The story Begin with excellent introduction altough it may be lack of action and as well too many information to be hold on. As many major anime , this one is quite well written by Gen Urobuch as many his other works. so i give this as a plus .
just to be sure this is 2011 anime made by Remarkable Studio UFOtable, no other comments on the visual and the song as well. IT just Fit and perfect .
The Art Style may be not for everyone to look at, such as the exact or maybe confusing faces with the main character and other side characters. its just how Takeuchi draws the franchise to be its fate known art style.
i give this show a 8.85/10 sure, it has a flaws. it doesnt explain…

Fate/Zero is the prequel to Fate/Night and is recommended to be watched first
The first episode is 1 hour long just for the record.
The story of fate/zero to put it simple is mages who make contracts with mythological and long dead villains, rulers and kings thoughout history and utilize them in battle all to win the "holy grail" a magical item capable of granting any wish that appears every several years.
The story follows several different mages and shows their viewpoints rather then focusing on 1 person. none of them are the "hero" of the story as they all have ulterior motives and will do anything to achieve them, even murder and theft. They're all shown to be human and show struggles with depression, mental illness, loneliness etc. They're all the heroes and the villains dependi…

Reading the synopsis of this anime, the concept of the world and the story seem very interesting, but all the interest in it is wasted with a progress that is completely boring to watch. In the first few minutes of the first episode, countless information is thrown at the audience in a very poorly thought out way, making it extremely difficult and tiring to understand the plot, with almost 50 minutes of just loose dialogue without prior context. This is tedious.
Other than that, most of the characters are not at all charismatic and their fights are not exciting, both due to terrible direction and uninteresting/generic powers to see, in addition to the battles being completely random and in random places just for script convenience. Honestly, the only bearable episode of these…

As someone who has not previously watched anything related to the Fate franchise, I went into Fate/Zero with no expectations. I knew of the popularity and praise for Fate/Zero on its own, however it never caught my attention and never became something I wanted to prioritize; for whatever reason, it didn't give me a good vibe. Now, having completed the first season, I can safely say that my vibe was correct in steering me away.
Fate/Zero has a lot to offer. A war for a mystic object, the Holy Grail, is happening, and magic-wielding contestants are given the ability to summon legendary heroes to do their bidding and fight for the sacred prize that will give the victor extraordinary power. It might not be the most original premise, but there's an interesting twist Fate/Zero throws into the…

Fate/Zero proved to be a captivating initiation into my quest of critically rewatching anime. From the onset, it held my attention with its masterful storytelling and intricate character dynamics. However, a word of advice to prospective newcomers to the Fate series: while Fate/Zero is the earliest chronologically, it assumes a certain level of familiarity with its universe, making it advisable to begin with one of the STAY NIGHT routes, preferably UFOTABLE's "Unlimited Blade Works," for a more seamless introduction.
Writing/Dialogue
Fate/Zero truly shines in its masterful portrayal of compelling character relationships, which lies at the heart of its narrative brilliance. Throughout the series, viewers are treated to a treasure trove of brilliantly written dialogue that not only adds dep…

I’ll preface this with some background on me. The first season of anything Fate I’ve seen was Fate/stay night (2006). To say the least, I did not enjoy that experience. It was so off-putting that, when a friend of mine said I should pick up this series, I kept pushing it off for several years, despite multiple attempts to convince me that this was worthwhile. Despite this being a prequel of sorts (Fate routes being what they are, it’s hard to be certain), I believed that this series would be dragged down by my prior experience.
I have never been happier to be completely and utterly wrong.
Fate/Zero has since taken the top spot among all the anime that I have seen. Yes, all of them, and though the first season isn’t its strongest due to some issues with the pacing, this season also has my…

Ah yes, Fate/Zero, the anime that everyone seems to love. Let's see, where do I start with this one?
The story is about a bunch of people fighting to the death to get their hands on the Holy Grail. Riveting stuff, really. I mean, who doesn't love a good old-fashioned death match? It's not like we haven't seen that before in every other shounen anime out there.
As for the style, well, it's your typical dark and edgy anime with lots of blood and gore. Because nothing says "mature storytelling" like excessive violence, right?
Let's talk about the characters. There's Kiritsugu Emiya, the brooding protagonist who's all about the ends justifying the means. Oh, and did I mention he's an assassin? How original. Then there's Saber, the noble warrior who's also a woman because we can't have too m…

Most of the darker shows that I rate high are not so much a simple entertainment as much a complex and relatable for me story, that meant to be read between the lines, and sometimes even between the lines of these 'between lines'.
Fate/Zero is not like that. It has its own depth too, but overall it is much more approachable and easy to watch and enjoy show.
Well we can expect this much from Urobutcher after all, he is the best director out there, after Goro Taniguchi of course.
So, story is intriguing and interesting to follow. Not sure about original /Stay Night, but here we have a real high stakes battle royale. They really fighting for it because a lot depends on the outcome of this battle. Grail that grants any wish, many of these characters have some lofty wishes.
Characters are v…

In a world that canonically takes place after the events of Monty Python, Fate/Zero shatters through the glass ceiling of garbage McDonalds waifu anime by being one of the best written shows in anime history. How it does so is an achievement that deserves to be watched.
Emiya Kiritsugu is a hired assassin with one job, to win the holy grail. 7 masters each select an unfortunate historical soul to seal into one of 7 different classes of combatant, these being: Archer, Assassin, Berserker, Caster, Lancer, Rider & Saber. A battle royale is to be ensued, & the price of defeat risks death. The victor is to be crowned with the Holy Grail, which can grant any one wish within it's power.
Despite the Deja vu this concept can bring, Fate's stre…

I am loving the saga of fate, I had already seen a series of fate but not as good as this one. The anime is full of action with very good animation, excellent fights. The animation is very good the soundtrack too. The character development and design is excellent I can't believe how well designed it is. I really like how they make the personalities of the heroes and their teachers conflict or get along very well. There are some couples where you say there is a lot of chemistry here. I only know that I want to see more because the anime is very good, I highly recommend it.

I watched both Fate/Stay Night and Fate/Zero in one go; they're basically a main story and a prequel - the background premise (7 chosen Masters are able to summon 7 Servants who represent different heroes / legends throughout history to battle in order to obtain the Holy Grail, which grants a wish) is really interesting. I mean, it's not super uncommon, as it happens with a lot of anime (Dragonball, Fushigi Yuugi... so many anime where people fight just to obtain a wish). It's a good premise.
However, overall, I can see why Fate/Zero has a much higher score than Fate/Stay Night. A show's worth is based on how much you like the characters, and the worst part of Fate/Stay Night was undoubtedly the main character (Emiya Shirou, who is too stupid and too weak to realize he's basically dragging…

Fate is a very long series that over the decades has spread it's roots to pretty much every form of storytelling media out there. But THIS is it. This anime is the best way someone new can experience a bit of the series, see what it's about, and maybe become a fan and check the rest of it.
While most of the Fate series must be experienced through visual novels and games that can take you well over 30h to go through each entry, Fate/Zero exists not just in anime format, but it was also beautifully animated by the Ufotable studio AND written by the renowned Gen Urobuchi.
Not to mention how Fate/Zero is a prequel to the very first Fate/Stay Night visual novel, which means newcomers will not be missing much info at all.

I think that the beginning of Fate/Zero was much better than the beginning of Fate/Stay Night. Now of course, this is most likely BECAUSE I watched Fate/Stay Night first, so I am able to go into this new installment with some level of familiarity with the characters.
Speaking of the characters, I think they are extremely well written in Fate/Zero so far. The most notable example for me is the relationship between Iskandar and Waver. I think that they have really good chemistry when they're on screen and Iskandar can be a great comic relief character. This is juxtaposed, however, to his other scenes where he takes on a more serious tone, not to mention his confidence in battle.
Comparing Fate/Zero to Fate/Stay Night, there is another massive thing that stands out higher than the rest. Th…
