Ga-Rei-Zero

Ga-Rei-Zero

Introduction

In Japan, there exists a government agency known as the Supernatural Disaster Countermeasures Division (SDCD), whose duty is to protect the citizens from creatures unseen. They are able to dispatch these monsters swiftly and without alerting the general public. But currently, they face a different challenge: the betrayal of one of their own. After the death of her mother several years ago, Kagura Tsuchimiya has been fostered by the Isayama family and forms a close sister-like bond with their daughter Yomi. The two become inseparable, and together they work for the SDCD as highly skilled exorcists. However, as the stress and consequences of their sacred duty weigh on them both, and family politics come into play, Kagura and Yomi begin to slowly drift apart. One of them grows earnestly into her role as an exorcist, and the other heads down a dark path from which there may be no redemption. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Ga-Rei: Zero focuses on the turmoil that emerges when the city falls into the grip of supernatural creatures and the team of the most competent operatives in the frontlines of containment. At the height of their misfortune, a former ally disowns them, with a parallel development that weaves the story into the tapestry of classics such as Berserk and Gungrave, telling a tragic tale of lost friendship. However, the series aims at revenge-based tension, but it fails to reach the apex of such tales. Right in the center of plot are Kagura Tsuchimiya and Yomi Isayama, who have their bond full of clichés and intertwined with the family saga about the demon hunters of the new era that fight against Yomi's claim to power. Of course, the action scenes are indeed thrilling, but since they are sparse…

I initially thought with a promising first episode and music that made a good impression, that I would have another shot but good series on my hand. Turns out I just happened to lose interest in this thing and just didn’t jive with the plot. How things developed felt… clunky. I don’t really know how to put it. And I thought the promising stuff from earlier on that made for a good impression sort of faded over time to a pretty standard and meh show. VA work is fine but nothing to really applaud. Still enjoy the music. I even do think there is some decent action and animation at times but I think I am just more disappointed that this series didn’t pan out like I had hoped.

THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SMALL SPOILERS: An anime that has very strong first two episodes, with a lot of action and in which, except for a general idea, one can find itself, lost. Despite this, it is a short anime that meets the expectations of a short anime, and even so, leaves a second season open if necessary. The strong point of the anime is the construction of the characters, especially the two protagonists, and how their attitudes change, strengthening the relationship between them. Although several have pointed out that the central question that the anime addresses is: Can you kill someone you love? It is also true, regardin the topic of killing in general, and the aversion that people may have when it comes to holding and using a weapon. Another question could be: To what extent can o…

People really think this is a 10/10? The story is trivial, there's not much to say about it. The first couple of episodes is nothing but carnage. We do get to see the main characters becoming likeable, but it doesn't last very long in the arc as the most likeable character's turn to evil is the entire point of the anime. The characters aren't all that likeable, the story isn't incredible by any means. This anime is just average. Well overrated. The action is pretty boring, nothing special about it. The character that was most badass to me dies in the very first episode, and there wasn't even much to say about her, maybe that she seemed very caring but got her head chopped off five minutes after we see any likeable qualities out of her. The main villain is annoying, too, but not even an…

Ga-Rei: Zero is a really unique anime, this anime made me realize how important the last 3 episodes of a series are for the story up until last 3 episode, most of the thing about this anime is literally trash, AWFUL art, Disgusting and out of place soundtracks, poor dialogue, poor character development, honestly everything was bad i can not believe how the last 3 episode saved this abomination this anime did what Naruto couldn't do this anime did what Densetsu no Yuusha no Densetsu couldn't do this anime did what Attack On Titans couldn't do this anime did what Kaze no Stigma couldn't do this anime did what Tokyo Ravens couldn't do it turned a hero into a villain and there was no power of friendship nonsense at the end, the previous friends actually fight with the intention to kill each…

Ga-Rei: Zero does shakespeare things. When shit finally starts to go down, oh boy does it ever. Gut wrenching, believable, instigated by an enemy that cannot be perceived and acting with that in mind completely outmatches our side. He's a huge threat and they don't even know - there is no big reveal, he just keeps winning to our horror and dismay. It was so well done. You don't want any of it to happen, but it happens and then some and all you can do is grimmace and say "fuck." It's brutal, this is a brutal story - and the set up makes you care, because the people it happens to are likeable and handle the situation as reasonably as could be expected - admirably even - but it isn't enough. They miss by inches, by minutes, one wrong decision. It's fantastic and alarming. The feel and struc…

Okay, This is truly an underrated show for reals. Considering this show came out in 2008, I’d say they really done a great job. What I want to highlight here is the Story aspect. If I can gave 10/10 I will, but I always believe that there is no such thing such as 10/10. Everything has a weakness for sure, that means 10/10 is a retard way saying “OMG I’M FANGIRLING THIS SHOW FOR NO REASON!!” Nothing is perfect right? ;) Okay let’s go back to the point of what I want to say, this show is that kind of a show that makes you cannot stop press “next episode” until you reached the last episode, in fact I finish this show in one go, means, under 360 hours (30mins x 12eps) IT IS THAT GOOD! Non Linear Storytelling, this is the method that they use to wrap the whole series, method that I can say r…

I'd already watched Tokyo ESP before and for some unknown reason I didn't watch this at the time. Huge mistake on my part. The show opens up with a lot of action and violence and then it shows you the past in order for the viewer to understand what led to this situation. The story is very well written for the most part and I couldn't help myself from caring deeply about the characters and their past and present circumstances. In terms of seiyuus, most of them are experienced and all delivered solid performances but I do want to point out that Tanaka Ryouko (Mei's seiyuu) did a phenomenal job. As an easter egg, I loved the reference to Lupin III. There are a couple of things that I didn't like but they are SPOILERS so beware: 1) I hated how Yomi and Noriyuki were a couple. I unde…

Story: Ga-Rei: Zero is a prequel to the trash pos manga Ga-Rei. Unlike the manga which is trashy and wacky, Zero is serious and Dark. Good action scenes with minimal talking move this anime far from anything generic about it. Though in the end leaves viewers with unanswered questions. Art: Very generic late 2000s art style that has aged well(far better than the current anime art style), with questionable CGI monsters along with a decent amount of character expressions. Blood is very plentiful here in the beginning and end. The color pallet leans towards darker colors all around except for the monsters which glow bright orange in certain spots. Sound: the battle music is good and the END just provokes dread and remorse when you hear it at the end of each episode(at least for me). The VA's…

If you like action, tragedy, and demon slaying, then Ga-rei Zero might be something for you. Ga-rei Zero is a bit of a hidden gem that flies under a lot of people's radars. I don't remember how I discovered it, but man am I glad that I did. I try to recommend it to others when I can, and if you like it, then you should do the same, because it deserves more attention and appreciation. The anime is a prequel to the manga Ga-rei. If you liked the anime, then I can recommend the manga too. The setting takes place in modern Japan, where demons occasionally appear and attack people.. The first main character is Kagura, who is a swordswoman and heiress from a long line of family who fights and exorcise the demons. She is a skilled fighter, but often doubts herself, especially if she is worthy…

What changes you? How does it change you? Who is the one to bring you to your breaking point? How attached can you be to make such a change necessary? SPOILERS AHEAD FOR THE FIRST EPISODE Ga-Rei Zero is a story of change, bonds, corruption, and in the end, finding your place amongst class and expectations. It's not a perfect show, it's sometimes lacking in proper context, but it manages to work in such a way to keep me engaged to say "yeah, I had a great time and felt immense satisfaction for something I wasn't the most hopeful for". Throughout my time watching anime, I've begun to know certain series aren't neccessarily good or bad in just a straightforward sense of accomplishing its goals well or not. Sometimes shows can be good at everything it does, sometimes they can do perfectly w…

First line bottom line:watch it. You can expect cute girls fighting monsters, heartwarming sister-sister moments between said cute girls, amazing sound and ost, gritty visuals and amazing action animation. (CG is scarce throughout the show) If you'd like a more in-depth analysis continue reading. I don't know if it happens to everyone or if it's just me but every once in a while you'll stumble across a show that, despite seeing and understanding all of its flaws, you still love to pieces. While I couldn't point my finger at what was wrong qhile I was watching it, I'm fairly certain that Ga-Rei zero is a good example of what happens when the pre-production team is not in sync. Let me explain. The feeling I had when watching was that the characters' realism in their acting was all over the…

This is a non spoiler review of Ga-Rei: Zero. This anime is a prequel to the Manga and sets the stage for it. The first episode is confusing and I found no place for it in the series. The second episode sets the stage for most of the entire show delving into the lives of the main characters. Main characters fall or grow (albeit at a slower pace for some). The story is nice and some episodes do end in cliffhangers which make you want to see the next one, and the next one to see how the story unfolds. Don't do that, enjoy what you've seen, make a brake and see the next episodes the next day to fully enjoy. There is a lot of fan service here, nudity scenes, simulated sex scenes, all containing girls, also the skirts are way too short. There is decent amount of gore and deaths especial…

It may have been awesome anime in 2008 if you forget first 2 episodes. It may have been a good anime in 2012. But its close to TERRIBLE anime in 2016, just dies in comparison to similar titles. Though if you decide to watch it, WATCH IT TILL THE END. It gets slightly better with time. ART: 5/10 Not necessary bad but seriously unoriginal. I feel that Ive seen every character somewhere else. And not similar ones, they seemed like clones. It gives somehow off feeling I have an issue to name it - at times you feel like every character is a main protagonist, or simply an important persona. There is clear lack of truely background characters - or in other terms, background characters have to distinctive art which catches way too much attention than its supposed to. As you see I struggle to de…

"A good prequel and a fairly good promotional adaptation." Origin : I came across an AMV with this Anime (last episode at that) and felt fairly attracted to it. The catching phrase "Will you kill someone you love because of love?" even more. But in my case....if I can't deny qualitywise it was overall good....I felt rather bored overall. ....Or maybe not that bored....after all, it was enough to make me wanna read the manga. Story : First of all, we start with a chaotic double episodes which aim is to throw you in the middle of the action. Literaly. Meaning there will be close to no presentation of anything going on. I have nothing against unconventional approaches, but spending 50 minutes with such a mentality is a dangerous path as it could be more prompt at turning people away tha…

This is my first anime review. NOTE: MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS. "Will you kill someone you love because of love" That line got me interested in Ga-Rei:Zero and thank god it did. I was hooked within the first 10 minutes. This anime got my attention in the first few minutes, I had barely gotten into the show when it suddenly throws an action scene in my face and it was good! The first 2 episodes are a bit confusing but after that is a series of flashback episodes which introduces and gives you the background of the characters and of course the relationship between the 2 main characters- Yomi Isayama and Kagura Tsuchimiya. As the story progresses you see the development in the relation of Yomi and Kagura and i got really attached to both of them. While focusing on the relation of the main charac…

- This review was written as a script for a video-review, so it may be a bit weird to read for some people. You can either ignore that and read it, or watch it and listen to me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DxFm3S640zA - Ga-Rei: Zero, having aired in 2008's fall season, is a 12 episode prequel to Hajime Segawa's manga „Ga-Rei“. It's an action-drama with a bit splatter, though giving of a SoL-like atmosphere at times, was directed by Ei Aoki and animated by studios AIC Spirits and Asread. Ga-Rei: Zero is a story about two girls, Isayama Yomi and Tsuchimiya Kagura, in a world, in which so called vanquishers fight against phantoms, monsters invisible to the normal human eye. After Kagura's mother dies in a fight against those phantoms, and with her father not having much time to bring he…

After I saw the overall score, and red some of the reviews at the end of the anime my soul was screamin "and this is it?", no like seriously that was it? So to summarize story, Kagura (a girl who shouts only "Yomi/demo/sonna") is a best friend and a sister wannabe off Yomi(a mediocre orphan written character) and because Yomi is in her teen age (probably that is the only thinkable reason) she will get brainwashed into thinking that it's NOT ok to feel hatred against someone who killed her father manipulated everybody to hate and abandon her by using a some stone which turn you into evil person, and because she is an exorcist she will kill her(which is ok, but nobody gets it), and so Yomi will feel abandoned because nobody but her close frends believes her and she will do exactly the same a…

While reading the manga, I found out that there was going to be an anime called Ga-Rei Zero. They said it had nothing to do with the manga except the settings. I'm like "I love the manga, How about I give this show a try". I watched all of it and this is one of the best anime shows I've ever seen. Story: 10/10 I never knew this show was going to be a prequel of Ga-Rei. The creators of the show never said this was going to be a prequel. After I watched Episode 1, I was shocked at what they did with the main characters. They immediately killed all of the characters. I'm liked "Are these guys digging their own grave? What are they going to do now". I was planning to give up on the show but I decided to watch Episode 2 to see what they're doing now. Thank God, I never left the show. After wa…

~~~~~~~~SPOILERS~~~~~~~ ***first "review" I've ever done. As I write this review I have currently just finished that last episode aired for this anime which would be episode 12 and I have some things I'd like to say about Ga-Rei Zero, both how I felt about the journey through it and how I think it fairs as an anime as a whole (they are different). Do you enjoy action? Do you enjoy light romance? Do you enjoy a tear jerking experience? If you said yes to any of the above this is a MUST watch! MAIN CONTENT (LESS GIBBERISH) SPOILER FREE! Ga-Rei Zero is about two girls who work for a organization that fights against the supernatural/ghosts, monsters and all the sorts is what you can guess from reading the synopsis, is that all it has to offer? if you think surely not then you would be…
