Honey and Clover II

Honey and Clover II

Introduction

Back from his journey across Japan, Yuuta Takemoto reminisces about his college life so far. He has matured significantly since his second year and is motivated to move forward. Feeling more confident than ever before, he finally confesses to Hagumi Hanamoto, the girl he has been in love with since their first encounter. However, Hagumi has been confused by her attempts to understand the mysterious Shinobu Morita. Hiding behind a playful demeanor, Morita may be the most burdened by his own potential. Meanwhile, Takumi Mayama has become a full-fledged working adult and has landed Ayumi Yamada several pottery orders through his company in an act of friendship. The five youths continue to face individual hardships in academics, work, love, and friendship as they push each other toward the paths that they are destined to walk. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

(Spanish review on my list) The final season basically serves to wrap up the romantic storylines of the series and a few other details or objectives in the personal lives of the protagonists... I'm not entirely satisfied with how the romance ended. Basically, because everyone was paired up with someone or had a crush. While not everyone ended up together, everyone had an attraction to another character, who, in turn, had to break some hearts. Throughout the series, different types of love were shown. For example, the professor's relationship with the blonde girl seemed more like a "father-daughter" love to me, but in the end, they made it more of a romantic love, which... well, I don't entirely like (I mean, they're cousins after all XD). But it's really a minor detail. The strength…

Extremely hard to talk about a series like this. It’s rough around the edges, with plot lines that often don’t feel like they fit into the whole, and relationships that are left far too open-ended, but then—in a series so interested in the natural course of life—it feels reductive to hold these issues against it. People grow apart, love both blossoms and fades, personalities change, but the memories will always remain. Nothing that happens is meaningless; in times like these, I always find myself coming back to that quote from Tamako Love Story… “To be young is to rush. Anything can happen before a spoonful of sugar melts. The bitterness of regret is proof you tried. It all adds up, building character” Such a personal, evocative story from start to finish. It’s funny, heartbreaking, and…

HIII BARBIE HERE >.<!!!! Another review by me into the perspective of a woman. YES i loved the soundtrack theme in general, the photography, the patrons and the following of the story, the great director and creative dude who helped in princess tutu and evangelion and my fave karekano did that labor, the talented and incredible CHIKA UMINO, did this well put it. My trouble is something more social focused, I liked the characters but my female girls DESERVED better, idk why the fascination of women in asia writing about man, what she did with morita and takemoto she could do it with hagu or ayama, but she did'nt and this is something why it's lack for me, I couldn't connect with the men protagonists, they were so boring to me, I wanted more of hagu, rika, and ayama, even miwako, I understan…

Outstanding, the first season is not that really great but its good, i have a lot of expectations in this series, in the first season the storyline was good and the character as well, but the sound track and comedy was average, and sometimes the comedy was just its not for this show, i dont like Comedy when you put in with a drama genre, its not good for me, and its not freah when i saw it, but all of that changes in the second season, from first until the last episode was outstanding, i got the feeling of this Anime, the most important one is the Character, Takemoto and Morita are the most great building, both of them has the big stage at this show, at the final i dont expected that Shuu-chan will with Hagu, i thought Hagu will choose Takemoto or Morita, but thats a great plot twist, the…

I probably mentioned already in my review of S1 how much I love this show. It's just that, for me, seasons 1 & 2 are both perfect and I cannot review this anime as 2 separate seasons, because the character development, the story, and the entire progression of this show flows smoothly from season 1 to 2. And I just can't look at it any other way. I love how attached I've become to each of the characters and how this show truly resonated with me down to my soul. I'm not even kidding. That ending of season 2 in particular always broke me to tears, it NEVER fails, probably why I always re-watch this alone as much as possible. LOL. As dramatic as this show can get, it's actually a "feel-good" anime for me. It always gives me a bittersweet but hopeful and positive feeling every time I finish re-…

As I started writing this review I had a thought I've had many times before "it's a lot harder to praise than to critique". I sincerely believe that to be true. It's not that my vocabulary is more suited toward negativity, rather I find it difficult to compliment something I'm passionate about in a suiting manner. Watching this serie gives you a feeling of simplicity, as packed as it is with art, music and story - it never really overwhelmes you. Instead, each episode has a music-break with light dialogue that helps progress the story and character development while you get the time to think it over. If you're binging a serie, like most people do these days - you rarely get the time to think between the episodes. This serie had so many moments that kept me guessing and contemplating diffe…

Best anime ever-- as it connects to my own life, -thoughts, and understanding on a deep personal level. This show is not just entertainment, this show is life-- all of it's shortcomings and bittersweet moment put together in a few hours worth of drawings and words. While watching I constantly thought about 2 of my favorite novels... "Norwegian Wood" and "Kokoro" this story takes moments and psychologies(or thoughts) from each of these famous novels and makes them enjoyable. This Anime was brilliant as there was lots of deep thought and heavy moments that questioned our lives and life in general, and they also did a good showing this with indications and symbolism like the four-leaf clovers and the metal shrine patterns; But they were able to make this show as great as it was because of it'…

Season 2, I actually dropped it midway of the series 10 years ago and completely forgot about it. Decided to rewatch Season 1 and then Season 2. I actually enjoyed season 1 more than Season 2. Season 2's pace was draggy for my taste after the conclusion of 2 characters which was exactly midway of the series. Making me remember the reason why I actually dropped it years ago. The joy from Season 1 was practically lowered since it went to a serious tone for story. one back story is practically too unnecessary for me which pulled down one character's charm of the whole series included season 1. Ending wise I was actually disappointed. In fact i prefer the conclusion from yamada. Artwork Artwork wise has some improvements from season 1 nothing to more to say about it. just that the exp…

I felt mostly the same about this season of Honey and Clover as I did the first, except it somehow worse in a couple ways. It seemed like most Yuuki's development evaporated; It's like he regressed back to early 1st season self for most of the season. The handling of Shinobu's arc was odd, the guy himself hardly seemed interested what was going on in comparison to his brother. The biggest offenders however are easily the love lives of Hagu and Ayumi. (Mostly Hagu). If you've seen Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu or have heard of what happens in Usagi Drop's timeskip, you might have an idea of what I'm referring to. ---(Spoiler Warning)--- It's hard to explain just bad Hagu's romance is without spoiling it. Shinobu's arc closes with the romance him and Hagu being reignited, just for to immedi…

Hello there fellow watcher, ( Im am really sorry if ı made a typo or any mistake while writing) H&C was an amazing anime and it felt much like it completed for storyline but not for character relationships. 1st season's big part was takemoto and ı loved it but this season doesnt have inpact at all and there are just stuff that comes out of no where but lets talk about them part by part. Music: It is better and you will here musics which are funny in episodes. Art: I cant really say much about it but it feels same and ı am totally ok with it at the end. The main diffrence is scenes and diffrent than few scenes rest is pretty normal. Inumoto is pretty fun though XD. Story: Here we go ... So after first season we see takemoto needs a job and others are pretty much in really good state a…

Words can't really describe how good this anime was. It was about everyone trying to find a resolve for their issues while trying to move past the bumps in the road. The anime was really relatable and it felt like we were maturing with the characters. I was glad to watch this anime because it helped me mature in a way as well. The anime had its dark moments, but they were easily replaced with wholesome scenes. The character development was really good, but I still dislike Hagu's character development and the way they went with her. Yuuta and Shinobu had excellent character development and I like the way the anime ended with them. I ended up dropping the anime awhile back because I didn't really give it a chance, but im glad someone got me to pick it back up because this anime was really ni…

I think Hachimitsu to Clover is a masterpiece. It is one of the best series I have seen. That is why, although other reviewers have already covered a lot of what I want to say while this is also my first review, I cannot let the chance slide to share my feelings about this series. Hachimitsu to Clover feels, to me, like a slice-of-life in its purest form. No aggressive action scenes, exaggerated body shapes and too many unrealistic situations, but a story about live, its happy moments and its drawbacks presented in a realistic way. I like how the main characters each have a theme of life, while at the same time these times are also interwoven into their interactions and events in life, and also in the overlaying themes. It makes the series feel coherent. The strongest point in the serie…

NOTE, SPOILERS BELOW: This is when the series finally ties down it's themes with each of the characters: Takemoto: the poor, average-skilled artist accepting a love that never existed and cherishing it, letting it push him to follow another passion. The wheel of his bicycle is the wheel of the memory of him and his friends searching for a four leaf clover. This memory is the vehicle that pushes him forward. Mayama: Finally consummates his love with Rika and she accepts him. He finds his place with her, her protector, friend, occasional lover, but is still left in that gray area. He's ok with that. Ayu (Yamada): She learns to accept that she loves Mayama, but he doesn't love her. Eventually she opens herself up to letting another love her, someone she grows to love. Hagu: The boxes, wa…

I will be spoiling pretty much this entire show so be warned. You know this is not the review I wanted to write. After finishing and loving the first season of honey and clover, I wanted nothing than to watch, and write a review of why Umino Chika did the unthinkable again, and managed to keep the spectacular quality of last season, and her other work, 3-gatsu no lion. Unfortunately, this is not the review I will be writing right now, I will try to portray my honest impression of this season, and how it managed to be an interesting disappointment. On the positive side, this series definitely had some strong aspects. The relation between rika and Mayama actually works quite well, forming the stronger emotional aspect of this season. It is kind of easy to understand why both characters sta…

There are enough 10/10 reviews on MAL regarding Hachimitsu to Clover (HC), so this is just another one of them. HC can be summarized into reality. It attempts to join the concept of reality, first love, use-to-bes, sacrifice etc and apply these elements onto our casts and their daily lives. This is a slice-of-life anime, this is a romance anime but do not expect fluffy, happy go lucky theme but it is not dark, it is just rough. The story is a 10. Good writing, good pacing and how the viewers feelings are evoke. You feel sad for the characters and you feel happy. You drift with the story which makes it truly outstanding. The art in its time is definitely good. There are no irritating aspects of the art of the scenes nor the characters. The tears, smiles and feelings of the cast were bea…

This show's great. I don't often watch something this meaningful. Since Honey and Clover's story spans long time periods, sometimes it feels that you're not sampling enough of its character's daily lives to fully appreciate them. In exchange for this, you witness so much growth that you gain an understanding of their lives as well as their personalities. After all, this show is, at it's core, about the chronology of life, and the meaning of time that can seem wasted. It's also a show with unique character; an understated artstyle, the use of soft colours, the frequent use of insert songs, and its brash, exaggerated humour. For the sentimental viewer I can not recommend it more.

My first time writing a review, I stumble upon this anime while searching old anime since I thought that, most current anime are mostly fanservice. Excluding the actual story, it have a totally (even though not direct) Life Lesson specially for those who are currently in a existencialism (did I spell that right?) crisis. Since it is a sequel I was actualy expecting something more like Season 1 but I was wrong and totally shocked me. Story 10/10 It's ok to judge me since I started watching anime at about 2010 so I was already used to action animes and fantasy genre, though I've watched a few normal one but this is currently one of the most wonderful story I have known this date. Art 9/10 I can't actually put it into words but, I think it's pretty smooth or something near that word. Soun…

Overall A direct sequel to the first season, and a good way to finish the story. This season takes more of a serious approach, and most of the comedy elements from the first are gone. All in all, a really beautiful, but somewhat fractured, story which leaves you with some interesting philosophical questions to think about. Animation Looks very much like the first season. That is, very good. Sound Voice acting is good, just like season 1. The best part is that Hagu doesn't sound as annoying anymore. I didn't really like the music of Honey & Clover, and that still stands in this season. Well produced and all, but it just didn't get me hooked. Story To be honest there isn't really a story, in a standard western dramaturgical point of view, in Honey & Clover. It's hard to explain, but…

Why is love so bittersweet? Love, friendship, and jealousy: a simple love story that focuses on the growth and development of an individual from adolescence to adulthood. That is Honey and Clover in a nutshell. Honey and Clover revolves around the daily lives of five college students whose lives are changed when love gets in the way of their affairs. The story starts off, rather slow, with spontaneous comedic outbursts and a nonexistent plot. It is at this point where I wanted to drop it; however, once the fourth episode come around, the themes of this show become much more apparent, and toward the thirteenth episode of the first season, the comedy starts to fade, eventually taking a backseat in season two. Honey and Clover truly is a slice of life show. It depicts the many hardships eve…

A sequel is often a lackadaisical attempt to cash in on its predecessor’s success. As such, most spin offs end up being mediocre or straight out terrible. There is however, a small handful that takes the foundation its progenitor has laid out and adds another, more polished layer on top. Honey and Clover II may be a sequel, but it is by no means inferior. In fact, with the characters firmly established, the show plays out the resolutions to much of the initial conflicts, creating a product that is actually superior to the original. Production values are once again solid with beautiful animation, heartfelt music and creative cinematography. However, these are merely the uppermost icing on this exquisite cake. The Honey and Clover franchise has always focused on its characters, shoving plot…
