Imagine the whole attack on titan season 3 part 2 in one hour. Or I don't know what are you familiar with, like the whole Harry Potter universe in just one movie. And I don't say it is bad, but would you really live in the world of breaking bad being just one season? Would you be satisficed enough if all of the season 3 was just a movie? Haikyuu is my all time favorite anime and as a fan I would rather never watch this poster of an anime and just read the manga for the appreciation of the first 4 seasons, because this movie is not a story. This is just compilation of a story.

I really love this movie. Kenma’s journey before and after getting into high school volleyball is super detailed. Even though the flashbacks can drag on a bit and get kind of boring sometimes, it didn't stop me from finishing it. The balance between the flashbacks and the current match feels just right, so it never feels awkward to watch. Plus, the animation quality actually feels way better than the main series.
I feel like any Haikyu!! fan would be super curious about or really love this movie. Especially since Hinata and Kenma are actually good friends off the court, and this match is a huge deal for both of them. Naturally, Kenma’s gonna figure out Hinata’s weaknesses and pull off a strategy to completely shut him down during the game.

I watched Haikyuu some years ago up until the end of To the top (season 4), I remembered binge reading the manga for the remaining story and it was so good. The anime, the manga, each match, each character, each moment, even to each music piece and manga panel, it hook me up.
I actually forgot a lot about the whole story after years, then I binge watch it again. It was as good as ever. I know the outcome of each big match but cannot help but enjoy the game.
This movie is good. The cinematic views, the fast pace exaggerate drawing, the music, the pacing overall it's all good. I would recommend people to watch it.
I like this movie, I love it from start to end. Solid. Then I wonder about what's happening in the match, before the match, and after the match. For a movie about the GREATES…

I couldn't wait for the sequel and went straight to reading the manga…
The adaptation finally covers the long-awaited match between Karasuno and Nekoma, a confrontation built up since the beginning of Haikyuu!!. It's not just any game: it's literally the fulfillment of an old promise between the coaches of the two teams, who dreamed of seeing their teams officially facing each other on a national stage. After so many seasons following the growth of the characters and the building of this rivalry, watching this match happen was something extremely special.
And the most impressive thing is that the film perfectly conveys the emotional weight of this confrontation. You feel that it's not just a fight for victory, but an encounter between two different volleyball philosophies, two teams that…

It's not good.
It's not bad either. It's like a bunch of nothing. I feel like I watched a really well made AMV by a fan that didn't really care for the story.
There's so much cut content that I don't understand how anyone thought it'd be a good idea to change the formula after many successful seasons of the anime (do movies really make that much more money?)
Everything is so superficial and fast paced that the characters don't even feel like themselves. I'm REALLY glad that I decided to read the manga beforehand because I heard there was a lot of skipped content, and I recommend everyone who actually enjoyed the anime to do the same. This movie is not a good way to continue the story after the Inarizaki match.

This is the movie I've been waiting for for 4 years. I'm not complaining that this movie isn't good and they didn't upped the quality of animations and perspectives, especially the POV shots were so good that it felt like I was there in the court. They did well with production. Not that I've been completely disappointed with it but yes I'm partially disappointed. Up until the 4th season the seniors of Karasuno were their back and had great character development Daichi, Asahi, Tanaka etc, now suddenly they weren't so important. The Coach, Ukai sensei, who was taking breaks in every round to motivate and give game plans to the players was suddenly not so important in the movie. The audience and cheer leaders who were the backbone of their morales, suddenly vanished. They definitely upped the…

All the dramatic weight that the anime built up over the seasons is here, with animation that, in my opinion, borders on flawless. This Haikyuu movie is, without a doubt, a 10/10, technically flawless, with a better and more compelling script than the seasons, and constant emotions without sudden breaks, except for a few necessary and welcome ones. I would also like to highlight the sensational direction, especially in the final stretch of the film with an exciting soundtrack.
Personally, I'm not a big fan of sports anime, which made it hard for me to start watching this anime, and even get through its first season (which I don't think is bad, but average). The way the anime slowly builds the characters up to this movie is an absurd payoff, and well executed, turning a film that could hav…

This movie was incredible. If you’re a Haikyuu fan, it’s a must-watch. I kept delaying it since 2024 because I didn’t want to accept that the anime might not come back, but I’m glad I waited — the nostalgia hit hard. It brought me right back to watching Haikyuu week by week in 2014.
What makes this movie special isn’t just the animation or the hype plays, but the bonds between the characters. The rivalry between Nekoma and Karasuno is one of the most wholesome and competitive dynamics in anime. They push each other, respect each other, and give everything they have, and the movie captures that perfectly.
In just one hour, the intensity matched an entire season of Haikyuu. It reminded me why I love this series — it’s human, emotional, and full of heart. I haven’t finished the manga yet, b…

This movie could have been an e-mail. If you watch Haikyuu for character development or story, I do not recommend it. If you watch Haikyuu for good volleyball animation, there is about 2 minutes of it and I do not recommend it.
What makes Haukyuu a great show is the build up of the story of the team, as well as individual character arcs, S1 has Kageyama learning to trust his team, Sugawara learning to be the back-up, Hinata learning to play volleyball in general, bringing back Asahi & Nishinoya et. S2 has Hinata developing his general skills, Karasuno climbing the mountain that is teams similar to them, Hinata facing off against a discount version of his idol, Tsukki trying to figure out why people love the sport, Tadashi finally getting his chance to shine, failing, grappling with it. S3…

I will keep it short, I appreciate the deeper into characters backgrounds and thought processes in this movie and season 4. I appreciate it in the sense that I see my favourite characters lives and how that too enters the court and influences team dynamics.
What I DONT appreciate is the flashbacks during the game. It ruins the flow of the match, the tension, it loses our focus, we were holding our breaths, now it’s out. It’s killing the show. I understand there’s a lot of emotions from the characters building up to this moment, but don’t force spoon feed it. We can’t see the flashbacks after the game, before the game, maybe even in the breaks, but not while someone is spiking the ball. Like come on, you producers cannot be this bad.
So many animes are ruined by flashbacks. Flashbacks ar…

Compared to the last few seasons, this felt like a compilation of what should've been a season... Everything was rushed (it's a film after all)... And it was a bit too fast-paced compared to the last few seasons. However... Everything was SO INCREDIBLY WELL MADE! This actually felt a lot more like a real volleyball match. Instead of focusing on ultra-big-brain mind games, this showed the actual fun side of volleyball: Simply playing it.
Towards the end, the animations were just... INSANE, for the lack of a better word. That FPS shot felt like you were actually playing, and I just can't appreciate enough the skill and time needed to pull that off.
In conclusion, I LOVED IT, but I would prefer the next few chapters to be seasons again, so that there is time for more character development. M…

I love it so so so much. I’m hyped for what’s coming next. The story is well shown, it was unpredictable to me, loved to see Tsukki happy and Kenma enjoying volleyball like never before. We got suspense, the flashbacks were on point. It hurt to see Shoyo struggling but he is always finding a way to fight and I really find that inspiring on a personal level. I don’t understand why everyone here complains so much, you are taking the joy out of something you love, you know. It was perfect, and the animation/ soundtrack and POV was peak and I know that people will love if they give it a try even if they are not into anime.
Can’t wait for the new movie to air!!!

I’ve been looking forward to this movie ever since I finished watching the final season, two years ago. While I can’t say it fully met my long-standing expectations, it didn’t leave me utterly disappointed either. If I had to describe it in one word, it would be: rushed.
In the last season, the final match spanned over 10 episodes, giving viewers time to connect deeply with the game’s flow and the mini-stories unfolding on the court. By the final point, I had chills, and, admittedly, I shed a tear or two. This movie, however, failed to evoke the same emotions in me, despite having even greater potential. Nekoma and Karasuno share a rich history, so why limit their story to just 80 minutes?
In my opinion, a shorter 6-episode season would have been much more effective. It could have brou…

This movie--and hence this overall series--is what makes anime so fantastic! I couldn't believe my eyes at the animation of this godlike show. omg I was at the edge of my seat throughout the show due to the immense display of clean and smooth movement that appeared on my macbook screen. Golly gosh I cant believe I was able to sit down and watch a series such as this in the big 25. This show gives you everything: excitement, enjoyment, and most of all: HAPPINESS! If you dont watch this movie, then I am afraid to say that you are missing out on such an extreme form of great content. There is everything you need in this show! GOsh dont even get me starteed on this fantastic character development, ITS absolutely supreme! GOsh I wish I was hinata shoyo and as smart and calculating at Kenma! Gos…

i think compliments on the movie are in order first. im so happy that the animation is good again cause i was dying watching the to the top seasons (especially the later episodes). the scenes themselves were all really well done and i loved a lot of the sequences like the final rally.
my biggest complaint is the length. for how fleshed out and in a sense long all the other major opponents that karasuno faces are this felt short in comparison. the match against Shiratorizawa was 10 episodes, this is just the equivalent of 3 episodes. the biggest consequence we only get glimpses into the mind games and how the characters feel. so much of the series has built up to this match, and i really wanted it to be more in a lot of ways or at least longer.
lol some part of me tho just copes and shou…

It should've been a series, not a movie.
I really love the story and this part is as good as the previous ones. I love character development, their motives and how they work in relationships. But there are so many moments that feel crammed and cramped. It really calls for standard pacing of a series where an episode is devoted solely to the back story of characters and their development. These are not obligatory but let you savor the moment and the atmosphere of the anime. Here they are hinted but not covered fully. The game is also half cut, there should be more actual volleyball scenes to give you the appropriate thrill. Once again, the story is good, but it's told here not in the best way and it's really sad.

HAIKYUU !! THE DUMPSTER BATTLE
Is a prime example of how sport animes should be handled , with a perfect mix of emotions and excitement that leaves the viewer in a complete awe.
Haikyuu!! The Dumpster Battle is a thrilling masterpiece that perfectly captures the heart-pounding intensity of high-stakes volleyball while tugging at your heartstrings with its emotional depth. This movie is a love letter to fans of the series, delivering a visual and narrative spectacle that leaves you breathless and hungry for more.
The match between Karasuno and Nekoma, famously dubbed "The Battle at the Garbage Dump," is the centerpiece of the film, and it does not disappoint. The highlighted plays are a marvel to behold ,Hinata's explosive jump , Kageyama's pinpoint sets, and Tsuki's calculated blocks cr…

I dont remember the manga version of this match in detail but all i know is "this isnt what i felt when reading this match" and its glaringly obvious in the very lackluster feeling i got from hinatas desperate struggles at trying to be "interesting" to kenma again.
Everything felt really rushed but also at some points really sluggish. The match felt like an OVA more than anything, and half the characters really talked about in this match in the manga were barely brought up in the movie.
The movie was great as a standalone if not looking from the lens of the manga but it felt a lot less like an actual haikyuu match and more like a real life volleyball match where you dont have any personal investment. Id say most should watch the movie cause the animation was beautiful but dont expect an…

I saw someone saying that this is the first time they didn't elevate the source material and i couldn't agree more
The only issue with the movie I felt was it was much less intense than the show, mainly because it was short of time, the main reason Haikyuu seasons felt so intense was they stretched a game for around 6-8 episodes and a rare case when it's always good and intensity maintains, now they had around 3-4 episode runtime to do the same, and because of this you see a lot of instances where the set suddenly ended or something went way too fast in one take without any drama and that is very un-Haikyuu like and may even disappoint you if you haven't seen enough sports Anime. The match felt like I'm watching 2.43: Seiin High School Boys Volleyball Team, but with Haikyuu characters

I will start by saying that if yoy have not watched all of Haikyuu to season 4, do not watch this. It won't make sense.
With that said, just finished watching this and it was exhilarating!! The long standing rivals finally got to have their match, abd it was perfect. There were a few references to previous seasons that allowed the characters to bounce of eachother with taunts and jokes. It was also great to see their growth.
The animation was also on point! I especially liked the cage scene, if you watched it you know what I am talking about. It was just a brilliant way to illustrate how they were making Shoyo feel. I also though the POV at the end was cool. We were so caught up in the match and how fun it was that we the audience didn't even know it ended yet.
Others say it went to q…
